“Word of advice; be confident and go after what you want. Don’t let anyone stand in your way. If Toby is what you want, then stand up for him―claim him. I know you don’t know a lot about our way of life, but you’re no club whore. Make them give you the respect you deserve, because in our life, they’re nothing. Make sure she knows it.” He gives me an encouraging smile, then puts his hand on my back to urge me forward. “Go get him.”
With a weight lifted and realizing what I want, or rather who I want, and what needs to happen, I move forward with nothing but determination.
CHAPTER 7
Toby
Sitting at the bar, I have to physically restrain myself from storming into Mack’s office and pulling Sara into my arms. It hasn’t even been five fucking minutes and I’m already going crazy, knowing she’s within these walls but I can’t see her. Or maybe it’s the fact that she’s here, in my club, surrounded by my brothers, and knowing exactly how they react to unclaimed pussy. I’m going to have to put the word out that she’s off limits and anyone who fucks with what’s mine will be drinking out of straw for the next couple of weeks, maybe even months.
I’ve never considered myself possessive or jealous. Sure, I can be arrogant, demanding, and I’ve never been one to back down from a fight or even to start one, but with Sara, I want to consume her. I want to take her away and hide her from the world. I want her all to myself, but I also want to shield her from the cruelty that’s everywhere. I want to comfort her from every hurt from her past, and protect her from anyone who dares harm a hair on her head or even thinks about hurting her.
Taking one more glance towards the back where Mack’s office is, I turn back towards the prospect behind the bar and order another beer. While I take a sip, I feel someone slide in close beside me. Thinking Sara is back and just getting close to me because she’s uncomfortable, I turn with a smile on my face. “It’s about time you came back—” When I turn to look at her, I realize that it’s not Sara. Instead, it’s Trixie who’s saddled up beside me, looking at me like I’m her dessert for the night. Fuck, I don’t need this shit right now, especially with Sara here. I didn’t even consider this bullshit when I brought her to the club. I need to get rid of her before she comes back.
“What do you want, Trixie?” I ask. I don’t even try to hide my annoyance. I see her flinch a little from my tone, but I could really care less right now.
After she recovers, she slips back into her seduction. “Toby, baby, I’ve missed you. Why you gotta be like that to me?” she whines. I’ve noticed her do it plenty of times before, and I never thought twice about her pouted out, botoxed lips, but now I can’t believe it never annoyed me before. It’s honestly like listening to nails on a chalkboard.
“What. Do. You. Want.” I growl, not playing this game with her now or ever again. I’m done with her, so she needs to get it through her head now before I have to make an example out of her.
I turn back to face the bar and try to tamp down my anger and irritation. I know I shouldn’t really direct it at her. It’s not like she knows about Sara, but she’s a club whore and I’m a brother. She should know better than to come at me like this. She knows her place and knows that if I wanted anything to do with her, I would come find her. She’s only good for one thing and one thing only, and I don’t need that anymore, at least not from her.
Trixie places her hand on my arm to try and draw my attention back to her, but she’s not getting it. “Why don’t we go back to your room. Let me make you feel better, baby,” she purrs in my ear, leaning in closer to me.
Turning around to move her away from me, I look over her shoulder and see Sara. Fuck! This isn’t going to go down well. I know that we aren’t together, but there’s something between us, and her seeing Trixie hanging on me isn’t going to help my case. God fucking dammit!
Sara and Mack are across the room looking straight at me. I can’t tell what she’s thinking or what Mack thinks of the situation, but I’m nervous. This could be a turning point for us and it may not go the way I want it to.
I watch as they start walking toward us again after Mack says something to her. I hope it was to give me a chance, but fuck, I would completely understand if she doesn’t want to give me a chance now, seeing me with Trixie. But if she gives me the opportunity to explain, I think I can get her to understand.
When she stops in front of me, Trixie goes rigid. I spare a quick glance at her and see her glaring daggers at Sara. That shit’s not gonna fly, but Sara speaks before I can say a word. “I’m ready to leave whenever you are, Toby.” She sounds confident and not really upset, but I don’t know her all that well, so I could be in for it when we leave for all I know. I also notice that she looked directly at Trixie when she spoke. Interesting.
Deciding to see how this pans out, I sit back and wait to see what she does. I don’t have to wait long.
Trixie snaps into bitch mode, not like she really leaves it often, and takes a step closer to me and places her hand on my arm. I shrug it off, but she holds it in place. “He’s a little busy right now, honey, so why don’t you call someone else to take you home, where you belong.” Trixie’s smile is taunting. I want to put her in her place, but I want to see what Sara does more. If we have any chance at a relationship, no matter what type it is, she needs to learn to stand up for herself. Otherwise, these girls will walk all over her.
Sara just smiles at Trixie and turns back to me, not giving her anymore of her time. “Like I said, whenever you’re ready. Maybe we can grab some drinks to take back to my place.” She says with a smile that has me wanting to do anything I have to do to keep it on her face.
Pulling away from Trixie, I go to move towards Sara, but Trixie has other ideas. This bitch is really getting on my nerves. “Listen, bitch, I don’t know who the hell you think you are, coming in here and thinking you have some sort of claim with the club because you work with Princess Dani,” the way she sneers Dani’s name has my back stiffening and rage overtaking my mind, but before I can do anything about her blatant disrespect, she continues, “but you don’t. You’re nothing to this club, and you never will be. Toby is mine, so back the fuck off.”
I keep my eyes on Sara, trying to reassure her that this is not what Trixie is making it out to be, but instead of looking hurt, I see something I’ve never seen before―she looks confident, slightly amused, and ready for battle with a glint in her eye. Stepping right up to Trixie, she says in a voice low enough that only the three of us can hear, “I may not be anything to this club, yet, but let me tell you who you are. You are a club whore, which means you’re only good for one thing. So, before you start preaching and laying your claim, look in the fucking mirror. You will never be anything more than a club whore, whereas I’m someone who is worth more than just a fuck to anyone who wants it.” Ho-ly shit. Did she really just say that? I think I’m in love.
Sara looks above Trixie’s head and locks eyes with me before finishing, “And Toby isn’t yours, honey. If he’s anyone’s, then he’s mine, so unless you want me to remove your hand from him myself, I’d suggest that you fuck off.” There’s fire in her eyes when she says it, and it’s all for me. “Oh, and the next time you disrespect me in front of anyone in this club, I’ll make sure that you find yourself fucked, and not in the way you so desperately want.” And I’m hard as a rock. Listening to her lay her claim and declare that she wants me has me ready to drag her to the first available room and claim her too. She doesn’t know it yet, but what she just did solidified it for me. She’s mine and everyone will soon know it. There’s no turning back now.
And the way she stood up for herself and demanded respect from someone she knows is beneath her, like an old lady would, lets me know that she’s just as ready as I am. It also shows me that it still may take a little getting used to, but she’s going to fit in just fine around here.
I step to Sara’s side, ready to leave when Sara grabs Trixie by the arm in a strong enough hold I can see her knuckles
turning white. “And one more thing. If you ever talk like that again about Dani, I will personally make sure you find it hard to form any words for a very long time.” With that said, she walks ahead of me and out the door.
I spare a quick glance over my shoulder at Trixie, and she’s staring after Sara with humiliation and pure hatred. “You fucking heard my woman, but let me say it one more time in case you missed any of it. No one will take a club whore as an old lady, so you may as well just stick to the only thing you're good for; sucking and fucking. And I’d watch what you say about a brothers old lady around here, or you’ll be finding yourself cold and in the ground.”
Turning around and leaning over the bar, I grab two six-packs of Budweiser for the road and take off after Sara. I can’t wait to get her alone. I know I just fucked her an hour ago at the diner, but I need her again. After what just happened, this time will be different. She’ll be mine.
The ride back to her place is quiet. I wanted to give her time to process what happened and what she said, because when we get inside, it’s going to be game over.
Walking through her door, she walks over to the table and lays her purse down. I walk into the kitchen to put one of the six-packs away, but take one over to the kitchen table. I think we’ll need it so there’s no sense in putting it away and having to get up numerous times for a refill.
“I’m gonna go take a quick shower and change, if that’s all right with you. Make yourself at home and I’ll be out soon.” She doesn’t wait for me to respond, but I let her have this time. I can wait for a bit. If I get my way, we have all night, and hopefully every day after.
Grabbing two beers out of the case, I walk over to the couch and sit down. Maybe I should turn the TV on so there’s some background noise, or at the very least so it doesn’t look like I’m just sitting here twirling my thumbs until she comes back out.
Flipping through her channels, I notice that she only has a few, so I turn the TV off and see a radio sitting on a shelf. Walking over, I check out the CD player first to see if there is anything in there before looking at her collection. It seems she only has country music, which really isn’t my style. Messing with the radio for a couple of minutes and not finding anything, I figure there’s nothing else to do besides put something country on. I guess it really won’t matter because we won’t be listening to it anyway.
I’ve only ever really listened to country when Dani would put some on in the shop, but I never really listened or paid much attention to it. I come across a Brantley Gilbert CD, and since he kind of looks badass, I decide to try it out. The first song comes on and it’s talking about a bad boy or some shit. What the fuck am I listening to?
“Nice choice. Brantley Gilbert is one of my favorite singers.” I turn around at the sound of her voice and have to take a minute to calm my dick down. She’s standing by the couch in what looks like an old ratty t-shirt and boy shorts. Damn, this woman is sexy as fuck!
Clearing my throat, I answer, “Ah, yeah. I’m not really a country fan, but I didn’t see anything else to choose from.” I give her a sweet smile so she knows it’s no big deal. I don’t really care what we listen to or what’s on TV, ‘cause we’ve got more important shit to do.
I walk back over to the couch and pull out another beer, offering it to her. She takes it from me and sits on one side of the couch with her feet underneath her. “So, I guess we should talk about what happened, huh?” She’s not looking at me, but she doesn’t seem hesitant to talk, which is good. I think she’s more nervous than anything else. I can work with that.
“I think that would be a good idea,” I say as I sit down opposite from her, not wanting to crowd her.
After she takes a sip of her beer, she leans over and sets it on the floor in front of her. “I’ll start.” She takes a deep breath, then releases it slowly before looking up at me. “I like you, more than I probably should at this point in my life right now.” She stops, but doesn’t look away. I take a drink of my beer and wait for her to continue on, not wanting to interrupt or say anything until I know where she’s going with this. “I was in a bad relationship when I was in New York. I don’t want to get into the specifics, but it wasn’t good. Winding up here, I figured I would start fresh with my life; get a job that I liked, find a place, maybe make some friends. Which, by the way, you’ve been the one to help me single-handedly with all those things, but I sure as hell wasn’t looking for a relationship. I didn’t want a man in my life unless it was friendship, and honestly, I thought if I were friends with a guy, he would either be really old, or gay.” That statement makes her laugh and has me smiling.
“But then I met you within the first few days of getting to town and you turned everything upside down. There was something about you that drew me in, but it scared me. It still does, actually, but I had to find a job and a place to live so I put you out of my head. Then you showed up and saved me at the strip club that night. It was like you were my dark knight, hell-bent on charging into my life, but saving me from others and myself at the same time. That night at your house was a turning point for me, and I guess I just didn’t know it until today.”
Picking up her beer again, she takes a drink and goes on. “I knew there was something about you, and then we had sex, which was amazing, but as much as I enjoyed it and enjoyed being with you, there are things about you that scare the shit out of me. You’re so strong and intimidating. Don’t get me wrong, those aren’t bad qualities, but in my experience, it can lead to bad things. Regardless, there’s something about you that I can’t resist or get enough of. I came here to start over and live my life the way I wanted to, and if I protect myself from every little thing that scares me, that’s not living, it’s hiding. I don’t want to hide anymore. I’m just unsure how to get past some of my hang-ups and fears without pushing you away. I want you to know I want to try; I want to try this with you, if you want to try it with me.” I know she means what she says.
Reaching over, I take her beer out of her hands and place both on the floor on the side of the couch, then I take her by the hand and pull her over onto my lap. I can’t stay away from her anymore, I just need to touch her. “I understand being scared and I know you have a past that isn’t pleasant. Shit, my past isn’t sunshine and roses, either. I don’t know what happened or how your ex treated you, but you need to understand that I’m not him. I know it probably doesn’t come easy to you, but please just trust me and know that I would never hurt you.” I pull her chin up so she’s looking at me as I say the rest. “But I want to see what this is between us too. There’s something here, we both feel it, and I want to see where it takes us.”
I lean in to give her a quick kiss on the right side of her mouth. “I’ll be patient with you. I’m going to need you to be patient with me too because I’ve never been in a relationship before.” Then I kiss the left side of her mouth. “So if you promise to trust me, I promise that I will never hurt you and I will always protect you.” Then I kiss her fully on the lips.
When she pulls back, she has the most beautiful smile on her face that I have ever seen. “I trust you, Toby.” She leans back in to kiss me, but we need to talk about what happened at the club first, so I pull back just an inch, but it’s enough.
Smiling, I give her one more peck on the lips, then turn her on my lap so she’s straddling my hips. When she settles on top of me, I realize my mistake. I can feel her hot pussy through the thin layer of shorts she’s wearing. Fuck! Maybe this was a bad idea, but we need to get this all out of the way before anything else happens. “About what happened tonight at the club…” I let the sentence trail off, knowing she will understand what I mean. She laughs nervously.
“Yeah, about that...look, I’m not going to apologize for the things I said, but I do apologize if it upset you. That wasn’t my intent, but after hearing about the club from Dani and then my talk with Mack, I felt confident in how I judged the situation and what I said. As far as what she said about being yours,” she looks
me straight in the eyes as she says this, but before saying any more, she leans in close and brushes her lips across mine so softly I can barely feel them. “I don’t care if you’ve been with her before. The only thing I care about is you being with me, and only me, from now on.”
“First of all, whatever happened between her and I meant nothing, and it’s been a while since we’ve been together, but since I’ve met you, I haven’t even looked at another chick. So, me being with you and only you is no fucking problem, Doll, but you’re mine now too. I hope you realize that.” I wink so it doesn’t scare her, but I want her to know that I’m serious.
She smiles, so I know she gets it and I haven’t scared her off. Good, now we can get to the second part. “And about what you said to her, you have nothing to be worried about. To be honest, if you hadn’t said anything, what I would’ve said would’ve been so much worse, but I’m glad it came from you. It shows that you demand respect and won’t take her shit, or anyone else’s. I know you don’t know the way of the club yet, but I’ll get you there, babe. You’re already off to a great start. What you did tonight wasn’t bad. If anything, it was great.” When she nods, I decide it’s time to get to the important stuff. “Now, where were we?” I ask, but don’t wait for her to respond. I just dive right in and take her lips in a hard kiss.
She doesn’t disappoint. She meets my desperation for her and adds her own by biting my lower lip. Growling into her mouth, I grab her ass and stand, not breaking our connection.
Walking over to her bedroom door, I kick it open and drop down on her bed. Lifting up onto my elbows so I don’t crush her, I break the kiss, but keep my lips on her body. I kiss her jaw, down her neck, and over her breasts. I take one of my hands and push the bottom of her shirt up, baring her naked nipple to my hungry mouth and suck hard while flicking my tongue on the hard peak. “Oh God, Toby, that feels so good,” she moans as she runs her hands over my shaved head. I move over to her other nipple and suck it deep into my mouth before biting down.
