HONEY FOR NOTHIN'
Page 12
He stopped before a rack of bright, extremely brief bikinis, and reached for the tiniest, a hot pink pieces of fabric that looked ridiculously feminine in his big, calloused hand. He held it up with a wicked smirk.
“Try this one on. And you either pick two suits, some of those little tank tops and a dress or two, or I’m choosing for you, Red. And get some of those sexy little fuck-me sandals, too. I’m goin’ to get some more beer.”
Kit gaped at him. “You can’t buy me clothes.”
He leaned in, his hand on the small of her back. “Red, love how you look in anything, but looks to me like you haven’t had new shit in a while. I get the pleasure of lookin’ at you, wanna do it in some decent clothes.”
Her cheeks burned, because the tee she was wearing had a grease stain on her left boob, and her skirt was too tight, but it was all she had left that was clean. Geez.
Keys tracked her blush with a gentle look, then leaned in to kiss the corner of her mouth. Then he smacked her ass, jolting her right out of the haze resulting from his kiss. “You got thirty minutes. Better get to it.”
“Thirty minutes?” Kit wasted two of her minutes staring after him, her mouth open. He wanted to buy her clothing, and he expected her to do all this in thirty minutes? Geez, she wished Lindi was here. She was so much better at this shopping stuff than Kit.
Okay then. Swimsuits.
Half an hour later she had a huge pile of rejects, and a much smaller pile of things she was excited about. These included a turquoise flowered tankini—which to her surprise was sexy and stylish—a shell-pink two-piece with cute fringe on the halter top, a long tee cover-up, a pair of jeans, a pair of shorts, a new denim skirt, four tank tops and a tee, and a yellow knit sun-dress with fun gathers at the waist that showed off her boobs without making her look fatter.
Keys stood by the checkout counter, arms crossed, chatting with the clerk, who looked like she couldn’t believe her luck. He raised his brows at Kit and said “Sandals?”
She handed him the armload of clothing and huffed a breath. “Hey, this isn’t grocery shopping. It takes time.”
“You got five more minutes.”
Kit rolled her eyes at the clerk, who frowned, clearly taking Keys side. Of course she would.
Just for that, Kit took ten minutes. She chose a pair of cute flowered ballet flats, some strappy brown sandals and a pair of new sneakers, which she really needed.
Keys whipped out his credit card and paid, and they were on their way, the clerk gazing longingly after them.
“Thought she was gonna offer to have your biker babies,” Kit muttered when they were out of earshot.
Since Keys was pushing the shopping cart full of beer and other bottles stacked in a new cooler along with bags of ice, with her bags piled on top, he merely grinned. “I like women. But she’s not the one I wanna see in that pink suit—or strip it off of.”
“Or maybe,” he added as they walked out into the sunshine, where Remi was waiting for them in the truck, “I’ll fuck you in it.”
Kit hoped the rumbling of the truck’s motor covered up her breathy whimper of excitement, but since Keys’ smile turned wolf-like, she wasn’t altogether sure.
“You wanna drive?” Remi asked him.
Keys leapt into the passenger side after Kit. “Nope, you drive. Then I can feel up whatever Red’s hidin’ under this little skirt.”
Remi was grinning as he pulled out of the parking lot onto the highway and revved the engine. “Think you can make her come before we hit Sherman?”
Keys chuckled. “I know I can.”
And since his warm, calloused hand was already sliding up between her thighs, Kit was very much afraid he was right.
He smacked her thigh lightly. “Spread, baby.”
Kit grabbed his hand. “No. What if someone sees?” The truck seat was high, but it was not the highest rig on the road.
“Then they see my hand in your lap, so what? Hottest thing they’ll see this year, that’s for sure. Now spread.”
Kit opened her thighs far enough so he could slide his hand between them, not the easiest thing since she did not exactly have twig legs.
“Holy shit,” she mumbled as Keys’ large fingertips delved under her panties.
“Mmm, she’s wet,” he told Remi. “Wet, and slick and hot. Wanna sniff?”
“Oh, yeah,” Remi said.
And Keys held his hand up for Remi to smell. Remi groaned his approval, and Kit could not decide whether to attempt to leap over one of them and out of the truck, or melt right where she sat in a puddle of extreme need mingled with embarrassment.
“Can you pull over so I can get one of those bottles out of the back?” she asked. “I think I need to be drunk for this much sharing.”
Both men laughed. “No, you don’t,” Keys said. “You just need to be our good girl and come for us. You got five more blocks. You come before we get down to Sherman, you get a prize. You don’t, you get that spankin’ I owe you.”
He slid his fingers back where they’d been, and began to stroke her wetness up over her clit, which was so swollen and ready Kit nearly came undone the instant he touched it.
“That little noise right there,” he praised her, circling her clit with his fingertip. “That says you like what I’m doin’, yeah? You made that noise yesterday when you touched yourself for me.”
She did like it, but he wasn’t doing it hard enough. “Harder,” she managed.
He gave her what she wanted, and then just when she could feel all the naughty sweetness coalescing under his touch, he backed off again, and thrust his fingers into her pussy instead. That felt amazing, but she needed his hand back on her clit.
“When we get back to my shop, you gonna model a bikini for us?” he asked her, like they were talking about the weather, or the make of the semi that was idling up beside them.
“Maybe,” she mumbled. “Oh, my God, that trucker can see.”
“Not now, he can’t.” Remi leaned forward, his arms folded on the steering wheel, his gaze on the traffic, his jaw clenched. “You’re gonna touch yourself for me, too, Kit.”
“Okay,” she agreed, her voice husky because Keys was petting her clit again.
“You gonna suck Remi off, too?” he asked her. “So I can watch?”
“Yes-ss ...” Kit came, her hips jerking into Keys’ expert, teasing touch as her pussy spasmed with sheer joy, not only at his touch but the totally hot images he was suggesting.
“Holy hell,” Remi breathed, reaching down to grab her skirt and pull it up so he could see Keys’ hand on her pussy. “That is the hottest thing I’ve ever seen.”
“Hot as fuck,” Keys agreed. “Jesus, I’m about to come in my jeans.”
Remi swung the wheel rapidly, and they veered left and roared down a ramp toward the highway. “The hell with Sherman, we’re takin’ the interstate home.”
Kit melted back against the seat, so relaxed she could barely sit up. But she also wished the drive was a lot longer, because modeling a swimsuit for the guys? Nuh-uh, nope, nada.
She’d planned on wearing them to swim, yeah, but in a way that would involve her stopping on the lake shore just long enough to yank her cute cover-up off over her head and then hustle into the water, neck deep.
Which she knew was silly, because Keys had already seen her naked, and Remi had just watched Keys finger her, and they’d both told her repeatedly she was hot.
But swimsuits put every flaw on display in bright sunlight and then screamed ‘Hey, lookamee! Big ass and round tummy here!’
Whatever. Keys and Remi were both aces at talking her into whatever they wanted. And the both of them together ... she was like a tuned-up throttle in their calloused hands.
“I’m so fucked,” she mumbled.
Keys gave her thigh a squeeze. “Yeah, babe, you’re gonna be. And you’re gonna love it, every single time.”
That’s what she was afraid of. And then when it didn’t work for her to be there anymo
re ... then what was she gonna do?
* * *
To Keys regret, he had to wait for his sexy swimsuit show. His phone vibrated in his pocket as they were headed up the gravel road from the lake shore highway.
It was Brian, the head of the building crew. “We’re ready to lift the back stud wall,” he reported. “Could use your help.”
“Just comin’ up the road,” Keys replied. “Be there in a few.”
He put the phone back in his pocket. “Change of plan. Remi, you and me are gonna play builder the rest of the afternoon. Red, can you take care of the groceries and shit?”
“Sure,” his pretty woman said. “Is it okay if I watch you guys work?”
Remi swung the truck up the lane to Keys’ place. “You like guys using big tools?”
“Uh, yeah,” she answered. “Find me a woman who doesn’t, and she’s blind or lesbian.”
Keys met Remi’s gaze and they both laughed. Kit did not mess around being coy—she just said it straight out.
“Hell, yeah, you can watch,” Keys agreed. “Maybe take some pictures with your new phone. I got a couple of the old cabin and the foundation. I want a photo record, you know?”
Then someday when the house was finished, and he had his other plans for the property all laid out, he’d look back and remember razing the last of Darrell’s mess and making the place his.
“I can totally take pictures,” she agreed, looking excited. That look settled in his chest, warm and sweet.
When they pulled up to the front of the shop, he and Remi carried in the groceries and dumped them on the table.
“I chose plenty of sandwich makings and salads for lunch,” Remi said. “We’ll load up the cooler with drinks on our way out, leave it in the shade.”
“Good enough.” Keys grabbed two pair of gloves, tossed one set to Remi, and they headed outside.
Just as they were about to start lifting the stud wall, a big Harley rumbled into the clearing. Keys tensed, but then relaxed when he saw it was Jack, with Lindi up behind him. She wore a helmet, Jack had a bandanna tied over his head, and his shades on. Like Keys, the big guy would rather eat dirt than wear a helmet.
Keys walked over to greet them. “Hey, Lindi. Jack, brother, you are just in time to put in some work.”
Jack stripped off his leather jacket and slung it over the seat of his bike, and hung his shades over a handlebar. “I’m ready.” He turned and bent to give Lindi a kiss as she pulled off her helmet.
“Where’s Kit?” she asked. Keys eyed her, noting the excitement lighting her pretty brown eyes. Something was up, and she wanted to share with her girl, which he liked, ‘cause that would make Kit happy.
“She’s in the shop, puttin’ groceries away. We just got back from town.”
“Okay.” She hurried away.
Jack climbed up onto the sub-floor beside Keys and Remi. “All right, put me to work.”
“Brian’s in charge.”
The head builder directed everyone where he wanted them, and the work began. Keys put his back into it, contentment warm in his chest as he watched his lover and his bro do the same, while a pretty woman did her thing in his kitchen, and later in his bed.
He was a fortunate man. Then he laughed at himself. It was just setting up house that was making him feel this urge to go all Big Daddy and convince Kit and Remi to move in here with him, where he could have them both around him, and in his bed whenever he wanted.
Yeah, it was just the house. He’d told Kit to settle--he needed to do the same. He was still himself, a biker riding free and wild, with people when he wanted to be and alone when he wanted to be.
Chapter Eleven
Kit turned Keys’ boom box to a local station and put away the groceries to the beat of Nickelback singing love and loss. She stowed the perishables in the fridge. Remi had purchased veggies and fruit, creamer for her and three cartons of ice cream with all the fixings, as well as fresh-baked cookies. There were also boxes of one-dish brownie mix. Yum.
Next, it was time to change out of her old, cruddy clothing into some of her new things. She hauled her bags upstairs and opened them on Keys’ mattress, her tummy giving a flutter as she remembered waking up there this morning with the scent of man all around her.
Apparently both Keys and Remi had slept in the bed with her, although she couldn’t remember any fun snuggling or anything. But at least she also hadn’t awakened to them spooning each other. That might have been weird.
She snorted to herself as she pulled her shirts off over her head. Yeah, like watching them going at it hadn’t been totally earth-shakingly hawt. She still blushed every time she remembered it. And letting Keys finger her in the front of his truck while Remi drove—oh, God. She had a mini-orgasm just remembering that.
She chose her new denim skirt and the pretty coral tee with open shoulders and beaded design on the front, then stepped into her new sandals, also cute. The only mirror was downstairs, so she headed back down there to get a look at herself. The tee looked just as good as it had in the store, snug enough to show off her breasts, but not straining the way her old ones did, and the skirt flattered her ass instead of looking like it was about to fray open. The Roman-style sandals fastened around her ankles and had a pretty woven design with copper beads on her arch.
She finger-combed her hair and went out to the kitchenette.
There seemed to be a lot of groceries and not enough cupboards. She was standing and staring accusingly at them, kind of hoping a tiny biker chef would leap out and start flagging her in. ‘Dish soap here! Brownie mix here! New mixing bowl in this cupboard!’
Instead, the door opened behind her. Her heart leapt, and she whirled, her heart pounding double time as she saw someone silhouetted against the bright sunlight outside. For an instant, she was sure Bouncer had sent someone else to grab her.
Then Lindi called across the shop. “Kit! Here you are.”
Kit huffed a breath of relief, then felt like an idiot. Her best friend in no way resembled a kidnapper.
In fact, Lindi looked fabulous. She wore a low-cut cream tank with black lace insets and a pair of jeans with black bling on the pockets that accentuated her curves. Her blonde hair was loose in waves around her shoulders, and her eyes sparkled in a way that said ‘Big News!’
“Hi. What are you doing here?” Kit asked.
“I came to check on you, and to tell you something too.”
“Tell me what?” That Bouncer had changed his mind, and she was free to go wherever she liked without a threat looming? That would be good news.
But Lindi held up her left hand, revealing a big diamond ring.
“Oh, my God!” Kit shrieked, grabbing her hand for a closer look. “You’re engaged.”
“I know. I’m so happy.”
They met in a hard hug, rocking from side to side. “Aw, I’m so happy for you,” Kit said. “You and Jack ... so cool.”
And she was happy, except for the strange pang deep inside her chest, the one that said she’d never have what Lindi had—a guy who looked at her the way the big biker looked at Lindi, like she was the best thing since the invention of the Harley. She pushed this thought away for now, though. This wasn’t about her, it was all about Lindi.
“So when did he ask you?” she asked, letting her friend go, but holding on to her hand to admire the ring.
“You won’t believe it.” Lindi related the events of the Flyers’ visit to the BeeHive, along with Kit’s mother.
“Oh, my God.” Kit gave Lindi a penitent look. “I’m so sorry, Lindi. They ruined your big moment—all because of me.”
Lindi shook her head. “No, they didn’t. I now have a story to tell for the rest of my life—how my man claimed me in the eyes of his biker bros. Pretty hard to top that for an engagement story, right?”
“I guess,” Kit agreed. But she knew Lindi would’ve preferred a lot more romance.
“But how are you?” Lindi scanned Kit and her eyes widened. “You went s
hopping? You look darling.”
“Um, yeah. Keys and Remi and I went into town this morning. Keys wanted me to have a phone ... and then he decided I needed some new clothes, too.”
Lindi’s brows flew up. “Really? Huh.”
Kit felt her face heat. “Huh, what? He’s just being sweet.”
Lindi looked like she didn’t know whether to smile or frown. “He’s a sweet guy. He’s also a player. Do not forget that.”
“I won’t,” Kit said. “Geez, Lindi, I’m not a kid, you know.” Except she felt like one right now, receiving a lecture from a loving but disapproving adult. A feeling she did not like.
“I know, but I just don’t want you to get your hopes up and then get hurt,” Lindi said. “Your mom ... well.”
Kit rolled her eyes. “Really? Now you’re comparing me to Deni, the queen of serial biker romance?”
Lindi had the grace to look embarrassed. “Sorry. But what about Remi? I kind of thought you two ... y’know.”
Kit’s cheeks turned even redder. “Well, we might. You never know.”
And time to end this conversation before Lindi got wind of what was really going on, or Kit would be in for the lecture of her life. Lindi and Sara seemed to have the idea they had to watch over her, and keep her from being too reckless.
And maybe they still did, because what if Lindi was right? What if this was her first step down that hard road her mother had taken?
What if she was just here to be a—a biker ho, tossed out when Keys was tired of her? Although at least he wouldn’t be as mean as Jink, throwing her out without even a chance to gather her things. Still, her stomach clenched as she pictured Keys telling her it was time to call Lindi or Sara to come and get her, that he didn’t want her around anymore.
Jesus, now she was just being pathetic. Time to woman up and enjoy the moment. And Lindi was waiting for her to say more, clearly curious.
“Keys just wanted to cheer me up,” Kit said. “After what happened this morning.”
Lindi’s eyes widened. “What happened? Did Bouncer show up here?
“No, but he sent two low-lifes up here.” Kit related the story of her near-kidnapping, although she left out the catalyst that had sent her outside alone. Lindi was not going to hear about Keys’ and Remi’s private activities from her.
