Arranged

I let that sink in. It definitely made sense, but my heart felt so tender. I was afraid to let my guard down.
“Sydney, I don’t need the inheritance. I have enough money of my own. The only reason I want it is to keep Marcus in line. I don’t want him gaining full control of my grandfather’s business. He would run it into the ground and lose it, just like he’s done with everything else in his life. I want you, Sydney. I will happily call Gabe and have him tell my family I forfeit my portion of the inheritance if it means I get to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Looking into his eyes, I saw the truth in his words. I also saw the tension and how worried he was that I would walk away from him. I couldn’t walk away from this man, though, no matter how hard I tried. He had my entire heart.
“Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Andrews.” He smiled, never taking his eyes from mine. I could see the love he had for me written there, the truth of that love looking directly into my soul, showing me just how deep it was.
I leaned closer to him, resting my hands on his knees.
“I want to spend the rest of my life with you too, Mr. Andrews.”
His sexy smile spread wide across his face.
“I love you, Sydney Andrews.”
And, just like that, I got my happily ever after.
The End
