B OBBY DOES DALLAS. That was the headline that met Cecile’s eyes when she

opened the newspaper as she stirred her de-caf coffee. Soon, she could go back to drinking

her sweet elixir of caffeinated brew. Breast-feeding was exhausting but when she held Jaidon close to her heart, it was worth all the sacrifice. It had been hard going through the final stages of pregnancy and delivery by herself. But, she had made it.

Putting her little bundle of joy up on her shoulder, she read the words that both thrilled her and scared her to death. Bobby was here. “Jaidon, my boy, your daddy is painting the

town.” She read with a rapidly beating heart all of the personal appearances he was making, and the women he was making them with. She knew enough about the business to realize that most of these dates and photo opportunities were prearranged by his agent. Still, she was so jealous that she bet her pee was green.

Bobby’s letters that Annalise had sent put Cecile into a tailspin. She couldn’t get them out of her mind. The

last one she read was still lying on the table. Pulling it to her, she read it for the umpteetnth time.

  Ceelee, My Love-

I’m lying in the bed dreaming of you. I can’t get you off my mind. I want you so badly. Please, I’m begging you.

Tell me what I did wrong. I would move heaven and earth to make it right for you. I have been faithful to you. I have not touched another woman, and I have no desire to touch another woman. My body and my heart want

only you. I feel so helpless. I want to reach out to you so badly, but I don’t know how. You know where I am. I haven’t moved. Please call me. Please write me. And if nothing else, dream about me, because I dream about you every night. I wake up missing you so much, there’s no relief in sight for me. Darling,

I’m begging you, come back to me. Please. I love you, desperately.

  Bobby

Could he mean it? He certainly sounded sincere. She kissed Jaidon on the top of the head and imagined

telling Bobby about his baby. Would he be thrilled or furious? Well, there was only one way to find out. She

had to pull her big girl britches on and make plans. She still had his cell phone number, and even though she hadn’t tried it, she knew that it would still be the same. But first, she had to see him in his element. Today was Sunday and she had tickets. Today, she would see Bobby play his first game at Cowboys Stadium.

The day passed quickly. Finally, she was there. Cecile sat in the nosebleed section. It had been hard to leave

Jaidon with the babysitter, but she was a good one. Thank God for Tricia. If Cecile hadn’t been lucky enough

to find the middle aged angel, her life would be impossible. Being a single mother was a hard, hard job. She was exhausted. As the players started to come on the field, the familiar strains of the song from the TV show

Dallas began to play. It got Cecile’s attention. And the words from the announcer’s box got it even more.

“Today, we welcome Bobby Stewart to Dallas. We expect him to do as much for this town as Bobby Ewing did.

Ladies and Gentleman…welcome The Bull to Dallas!”

The crowd stood as one as Bobby ran onto the field. The strains from the famous song filled the air. It probably had a different effect on Cecile than it did on everyone else. The announcer’s words sounded over the

music. “He’s a star, Cowboy fans, in every sense of the word. He’s a National Championship Bullrider, the

toast of the town, there’s even talk that he’s gonna start making movies. Let me tell you one thing, Dallas. If

the boy can play football today like we expect him to, then he’s gonna become a legend. The words are

everywhere—BOBBY DOES DALLAS—and we expect Bobby to do good by Dallas today!”

Cecile stayed on her feet watching him until he blended in with the other players. She wondered how his

teammates were responding to all the hype. It was unheard of for a player to get so much attention before he

had even made his first play, but then this was Bobby Stewart. He was a different breed.

She sat back down and tried to breathe. This was much harder than she thought it would be. All she wanted to

do was run to his side, throw her arms around him and beg him to take her back.

  Presley’s Stickey Buns Recipe Continued

  Return to Recipes Section

The front reception area was impressive and she hung back, watching

employees and clients as they moved about. It was easy to tell the two apart. The

clients had an anxious expression and the law firm employees looked to be on a

mission. For the most part, they were young, good-looking and filled with confidence– unlike her.

Presley ran her hand over the smooth wood of a table and thumbed through a

Texas law review magazine, trying to look busy. As she waited for the woman at

the desk to get off the phone, Presley inspected the photos on the wall. They were

all of a very good-looking man. He was working with horses. One photo in particular

  captured her attention. A golden

palomino with a scar on its right cheek, stood with its head bent to touch the chest

of the man in front of him. The man was the same as the one in the other photos –

a tall, well-built man in typical western dress. But there was nothing typical about

the handsome cowboy. Presley felt her pulse pound. His expression was so kind

and loving. At that moment she knew he had instilled in the horse an absolute assurance that it was loved.

  This man could be trusted.

  Presley smiled.

  She envied the horse.

“Excuse me, may I help you?”

Presley turned to greet the receptionist. At first the woman was smiling, but when Presley drew closer and

the woman got a good look at her, Presley saw the woman’s countenance change. Her eyes narrowed and she

sneered. A reaction like this always made her want to sink into the floor, but she squared her shoulders and faced the music. “I have an appointment with Mr. Saucier. I’m from the temp agency, Work Force.”

“Really.” With one word, the woman projected skepticism and disapproval. She wasn’t prepared to go against

her superior’s wishes, however, so she pressed the button and announced her. “Zane, the woman from Work

  Force has arrived.”

“Thank you, Melody. Send her in.”

Presley thought this was probably a useless endeavor; there was no way she was going to fit in here. Saucier

and Barclay was filled with beautiful people and she – wasn’t. Nevertheless, she marched forward.

“Come in, Miss Love.” The voice that called to her was deep and authoritative, but something about it warmed

her heart. It was a kind
voice.

  “Yes, sir.”

The room was huge, yet comfortable. There were two work areas, one larger than the other – comfortable

chairs, computers, a credenza – everything one would need to conduct business. Another room sat off to the

side, but her gaze passed over it. Clearly, that was the inner sanctum. Presley’s eyes moved quickly around the

room before they settled on the man behind the larger desk. Her breath caught in her throat. It was the same

man pictured in the photo with the horse. This was Zane Saucier? He stood up to greet her.

God Almighty! The man was fine! Dressed in a perfectly cut grey suit, he dominated the room. Presley wanted

to run and hide. She didn’t do well around really good looking men. With a reflex born from years of hiding,

she jerked her hand up to cover her mouth. There was no way in hell this was going to work. A movement next to the desk caused Presley to glance side-ways. It was a dog! She was a little shocked and

a gasp escaped her lips. “Are you okay?” he asked. A beautiful black Labrador sat there with the prominent

halter and handle that a blind person would require.

She looked back at the gorgeous man standing in front of her. “I’m fine; your dog startled me, that’s all.” Was

he blind? No! Impossible! Not him. The tragedy of it all took her breath away.

Presley stared at his handsome face, hoping to see some indication that she was wrong. It didn’t matter if he

looked at her with disdain – she just wanted him to be able to see. Zane appeared to look right at her,

seemingly right in the eye. However when he held out his hand in greeting and she extended hers in return –

he didn’t take it, rather he waited for her to touch the tips of his fingers with hers. It was obvious he could not

see her hand approaching his. The breath lurched in her throat. God, no - he was blind. She closed her eyes

in abject sorrow and let her fingertips graze his. When she did, he grasped her hand warmly and Presley felt

kindness, strength and security. Still, it hurt her soul. If she could have changed things for him, she would

  have – in a heartbeat.

“Welcome, please sit down. My previous secretary held you in high esteem.”

Presley’s heart pounded. “Thank you. I am grateful to be considered. Miss Chloe is a good friend.” She forced

herself to say the words carefully. When she became excited, Presley had a tendency to let a lisp slip in when

  she pronounced her s’s.

Zane listened carefully and tried to formulate an image of the young woman. Her voice was beautiful. He

could detect a deliberate control in the way she said her words. She didn’t speak haphazardly. He admired

that. It also made him wonder what she would sound like when she lost all of that cool control. Smiling to

himself, he wondered where that had come from. He knew nothing about this woman – yet. How she looked,

what her personality was like, how they would work together, all of that was still a mystery. But he soon

would, and for some reason, he looked forward to it.

  Glimpses into the Future

In the Texas Heat Series two new books will come out in the future:

In SPANISH EYES, Dr. Drew will seek to win the heart of the beautiful Angelina who suffered at the hands of Aliyah’s captors. Their journey toward happiness will tug at your heart strings as he seeks to teach her the healing power of love.

In DOUBLE T-R-O-U-B-L-E (my first ménage romance) we are reunited with the sexy Cruz twins, Jagger and Rebel. Former Texas Rangers, now with Black Raptor, they are big, alpha males who have devoted their lives to stand in the gap between the innocent and whatever danger they might face.

Their mother is a bruja, a woman of magick, and the twins were born with a unique ability to know and feel whatever their twin knows or feels – which makes things very interesting. Jagger and Rebel share their thoughts, their quest for justice – and their women. And the woman, who is loved and protected by these two warriors, will be fortunate indeed.

In the Moon Magick series Zak’s Blue Moon will come out in the future:

Zak was the man who helped Evangline’s mom, Aimee. A bond grew quickly between him and the Romee witches, but the bond is much stronger than they realize. Soon, he is contacted by a beautiful woman named Leila, the tale she tells him is both unbelievable and magnificent. Leila opens a whole new world for Zak, one filled with amazing wonders and a love that knows no bounds. When Leila’s identity is learned – the whole Romee family understands how greatly they have been blessed. Miracles do happen – once in a blue moon.

In the Hell Yeah! Cajun Style Series there is a whole bayou full of books to look forward to:

The next book in this series will be FINDING DANDI. The relationship is with Beau’s cousin Dandi, who works at Firepower Munitions with the sex therapist Lucas Dane Wagner. If you remember, he helped Harley and Beau overcome Harley’s troubled past. FINDING DANDI has a lot of humor, but it also tells a poignant story of finding yourself in love with someone completely unexpectedly. True love sometimes catches us by surprise.

Also, in the Hell Yeah! Cajun Style series, we will find Patrick’s best friend Revel seeking to rescue and reunite with his long-lost love, Harper. Yes, this was Noah’s Harper – but in SOFTLY AND TENDERLY (tentative title) Revel shows Harper the true meaning of home and how wonderful belonging to someone can be.

Other books will follow – Waco, Indy, Fresca, Cato, and Tammany. Hawke and Jayco will all have their turn on the roller-coaster of love. And I’m looking forward to every one of them.

In Hell Yeah! – we have Noah’s long awaited story. Noah is known for being too serious, too conservative and too - - everything. In Skye Blue, Noah learns what it is like to surrender completely to love. Skye is Native American, a leader in the Cherokee Nation. She also has great knowledge of their ancient ways and beliefs. It will be very interesting to watch Noah come to terms with a woman who is sexy, smart and as strong-willed as he is. The sparks will fly – talk about cowboys and Indians!!!!

Bowie Travis Malone, Jacob’s friend, is the hero in Welcome to My World. Bowie has stayed away because he couldn’t bear to remember the horrible mistake he had made. Now, he has come home and the young girl that he caused so much sorrow has grown into a beautiful woman. She doesn’t know that Bowie was the one who changed her life so completely, but when they meet – each realize they have been given a second chance at happiness, if only they are brave enough to take it.

There is more Hell Yeah! to come – books for Nathan, Heath, Jaxon, Philip, Tennessee, Ryder, Pepper and Willow – and maybe more – who knows?

Aron’s story will continue to unfold throughout the spring in both the Hell Yeah! Cajun Style and the Hell Yeah! books.

I will also be releasing a series coauthored with my brother, Jess Hunter – FOR A HERO and with Ryan O’Leary – THUNDERBIRD.
