Spencer walked back to his car in a shocked state. This was a bad dream, he would wake up and find her lying curled up next to him in bed. He opened his door and sat in the driver’s seat, pictures kept playing in his mind. Them at the hospital joking and filling out the paperwork, her sleeping in the room with him, when he saw her after her makeover, her first real smile, their first kiss, when she took care of his mom, their date at the hotdog shop.
His body began to shake, he couldn’t stop the memories from playing.
“Spencer, I care about you.”
“Spencer, I only want you.”
“I said I love you, Spencer.”
“I won’t leave, I promise.”
Spencer opened his hand trembling hand to see her necklace. He couldn’t hold back the pain, the fear, or the tears anymore. He broke down against his steering wheel as he squeezed the necklace in his hand and sobbed harder than he ever had before. His heart was shattered, his soul was destroyed, and he had no one to blame but himself. The woman that held his heart, was gone. He felt completely alone.
‘She was my home, and now she’s gone…’ He looked at the necklace one last time as tears dropped into his hand.
“Goodbye, Layla.”
