“High on love,” he repeated, rolling the words around in his mouth as if tasting them. “That does explain it.”
She tilted her head back drunkenly to look at him. “Explain what?”
He just grinned at her and dipped his head for a long, world-shattering kiss. When he finally dragged his mouth away from hers, he was laughing. “Stay here, sweetheart. Hold on to this sofa and try to stay off the floor.” He backed away from her, sending a flutter of alarm through her belly.
“Where are you going?”
He turned and shot her another self-satisfied grin. “To pack you a bag.” He disappeared into her bedroom.
Alicia leaned her head back on the sofa, grinning. In the morning, there’d be a lot to sort out—her job, his guilt, her family—and the leftover loose ends from her ordeal at Atchison Hall. But she knew they’d work things out, one way or another, for she’d already seen in Gabe’s eyes the same powerful emotion singing in her own veins.
High on love, indeed.
