“I made a mistake. We’re all allowed to have mistakes, right? I’m just pleased I didn’t go too far.” Kasey took a deep breath. “Would you give these to Elisha for me?” she asked.

Brant saw Elisha’s car driving toward them. “You can tell her yourself.” He bent down, picking up the leaves, and moving them toward the compost heap.

“What’s going on?” Elisha asked, climbing out of her car.

  “Hi, I’m Kasey.”

He watched Elisha tense up, and he moved to her side, placing a hand over her jacket. “It’s okay,” he said.

“What do you want? You know, after you called me a slut?”

She was making him so damn hard with her attitude.

“I wanted to apologize for that. It was my mistake, and I shouldn’t have done what I did. I thought I was in love with Brant, but I’m not.” She held out the flowers. “I’m really sorry for what I did, and I really hope you can forgive me. I won’t cause any more pain.”

  “The flowers are for me?”

“Yes, and I wish you both a great deal of love.” Kasey smiled at them both then gave them a wave.

Elisha looked down at the flowers, then back at him. “I don’t know what happened right now.”

“We’re good, and Kasey’s not going to be a problem for either of us.” He kissed her neck. “I missed you.”

  “I missed you, too.”

“When are Beth and Andrew coming around?”

“Soon, but we’ve got time. Help me unload the car, and we can take a trip upstairs.” She gave him a wink, and he couldn’t help but laugh at her.

“God, I love you,” he said, laughing.

Elisha paused, and so did he.

  “What?”

  Shit.

He’d not meant to say anything, determined to wait for her to move forward.

  “You heard me, baby.”

Elisha took a breath, licked her lips, and stared at him. “You love me.”

“Yeah, it took me by surprise as well, believe me.”

  “You love me.”

She said it again, and Brant cupped her cheeks, pulling her attention back to him. “What’s the matter?”

“I never thought you’d love me.”

Brant pressed a kiss to her lips. “I was going to be elaborate, and take you out to dinner, but I’m not that kind of man.”

“You like to just blurt it out, and ask questions later.”

“I’m sorry. I love you. I don’t know how it happened. You know what, I do. You blew into my world, shouting that pretty mouth off, and you got inside here.” He placed a hand to his heart. “I love you, Elisha. I love you with all my heart and soul, and it scares me. You inspire me every single day, and I can’t live without you.”

Tears filled her eyes, and he wiped them away with his thumbs. “Don’t cry.”

“Why can’t I cry? I’m so damn happy. I thought it was just me, but it’s not. I love you, Brant. Beth said I should just come out and say it. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t just say something like that.”

Slamming his lips down on hers, he silenced her with a kiss.

There were no words to describe what he was feeling in that moment. He moved her toward her car, and slammed the door shut.

  “What are you doing?”

“It’s cold enough that the groceries won’t suffer. I’ve got to have you now.” He took her hand and led her back into her house. Closing the door, he pressed her against the door, and started to remove her clothes. He needed her naked, and beneath him.

  “I love you,” she said.

“Fuck, Elisha, you’re making hard, so damn hard.”

  “It’s what I want. I love you.”

“Baby, I love you.” They tore at each other’s clothing, and Brant didn’t care for the condom. Picking her up, he pressed her against the wall, and slid her onto his cock. She was already wet, and warm, and everything he loved with this woman. “I love you.”

“I love you. We’ve got a lot of time to make up for.”

“You feel so good wrapped around my cock.” He pulled out of her, only to slam back inside her.

  “Yes, Brant, fuck me.”

He fucked her hard and rough against the wall near the door. There was no condom between them, and it wasn’t the first time they had unprotected sex. He fucking loved this woman. She had gotten underneath his skin, and made him feel for her.

Now, he couldn’t live without her, and the thought of going a day without her belonging to him, killed a part of him inside.

“Marry me,” he said, spilling the words out.

  “What?”

“You heard me. Marry me. There’s no other woman I want. I love you, and I want to grow old with you.”

  “Yes. I’ll marry you.”

“I’m so pleased none of those bastards stole you from me.”

  “My boyfriends?”

He pounded inside her pussy, jealous of any man being with her. “Yes. You belong to me now.”

They fucked, and made love, by the door for the next hour. Brant kissed all over her body, loving every inch of her fuller curves. There wasn’t a part of Elisha that he’d not loved, as he had already claimed her ass.

She loved it when he took her ass, and he loved preparing her when he wanted to take it. Today wasn’t one of those days.

“My sister is coming,” she said.

Together, they cleared away their clothing and dressed, preparing for her sister’s arrival.

Brant was bringing in another bag of groceries when he saw Elisha standing at the fridge, holding the little black box that he had stored there.

“You were going to propose today even before Kasey’s visit.”

“Sean wanted me to wait until he could come down and see you. I wouldn’t wait. I wanted your answer. I’m impatient like that.”

  She chuckled. “This is beautiful.”

He took the box from her, grabbed her hand, and slid the ring on her finger. It was a perfect fit. “You know I once heard that if you get the ring size right, and it slides on really easily, it means we’re going to live happily.”

  “Who told you that?”

“I don’t know. I might have made it up.” He leaned in close. “I promise to make you happy, Elisha. No matter what.”

“Brant, you make me happy just by being here. I love you, and that’s never going to change.” She wrapped her arm around his neck, kissing him.

“I hope I got you pregnant,” he said.

  “Shut up.”

  Epilogue

  Three years later

“What are you doing?” Elisha asked.

“Waiting for Sean and his girlfriend.” Brant looked behind the curtain, and Elisha shook her head. It was Christmas time once again, and she rubbed her swollen stomach, letting out a sigh. She and Brant had been married for three years, and during those three years, not a lot had changed. They still owned the same two houses even though they lived in her home.

Brant was giving Sean his house that Christmas so that his brother would move a little closer. Sean had graduated from college, and been doing a successful internship for the past year. That internship was over, and Brant wanted his expertise at home.

“Why do you want to see his girlfriend?” she asked, moving up behind him, placing her hand on his shoulder.

“It’s Sean. You know how annoying he can be. I’m just looking out for my brother.” Brant turned toward her, and lowered down in front of her stomach. “What do you think, little guy? Do you think I’m being too overprotective of my little brother?”

Their unborn son kicked out, and Elisha winced.

Getting pregnant had proven to be quite difficult for them, and it had taken them three years to finally have their dream come true.

“He’s kicking a lot more now, isn’t he?” Brant asked, rubbing her stomach.

“It’s okay. I’m getting used to it.” She patted her stomach lovingly. “Are you still happy?”

  “Baby, I’m more than
happy. Our doctor said we’d get pregnant, and we have. So we had to wait three years, but babe, they’ve been three wonderful years, and you’ve grown up since then.”

She let out a gasp, and lightly tapped his shoulder. “What? I’ve grown up? What about you?”

“Honey, I didn’t have a problem with excess cleaning. Everywhere is now clean, and your first instinct is not to grab a cloth anymore, and start cleaning.”

“No, it’s to grab a bat, and hit my husband.”

Brant pulled her into his arms. “You don’t mean that. You know you love me.”

She did love him, and he’d completed her little world. Elisha couldn’t ever go a day without being with him. He completed her hectic world.

Leaning in close, he claimed her lips, and like every other time before, she melted against him, falling for him all over again.

  “I love you.”

Before she got a chance to say anything, they heard the sound of a car pulling into the drive. Brant grabbed her hand, and they made their way out to see his brother and Sean’s girlfriend. She’d heard of Sienna, and she knew Brant was going to be in for a shock.

Sean had let slip that his girlfriend was expecting as well. Of course, he’d asked that she not tell Brant, which she’d hated. However, Sean had only told her today, and Brant hadn’t given her time to say anything.

Leaving the house, Brant cheered, and Sean climbed out of the car.

“Brant, I’m really sorry, but you need to know that we’re totally in love, and it’s not like you can say anything,” Sean said. “You told me if I loved a woman, I had to find any way to keep her.”

Elisha was chuckling as Sean opened the passenger door, and then she heard Sienna.

“Sean, just help me out, please,” Sienna said.

“He’s in love.” Elisha wrapped her arm around Brant’s waist, and then they saw Sienna.

Sean’s girlfriend was beautiful, and heavily pregnant.

“You’re having a kid?” Brant asked.

“I couldn’t let you outdo me, bro. I love you, and I want a little me running around.”

Unable to help herself, Elisha started laughing as she welcomed a concerned looking Sienna to the family.

“You’re pregnant, we’re pregnant, so I guess I may as well do this early. Merry Christmas, Sean,” Brant said, handing over a key.

  “I don’t get it.”

Brant pointed at the house. “You can live right next to us. The house, it’s yours.”

Elisha stood back as she watched the two brothers embrace. This was the man she loved. He was full of life, humor, and the most important, love.

Her very dirty neighbor had shown her what she was missing out on, and she couldn’t wait to live the rest of her life with him.
