But the distraction was long enough to get her other wrist free. Now the ankles. It was Micah’s turn to play hero, but he was even weaker than Dace and went down hard. Just as Andy started to turn her way and would surely catch her working on her ankle cuffs, a distraction came from an unexpected source.

“Andy, why are you trying to hurt me? I was on your side.” It was Daisy.

Andy walked over to Daisy and slapped her hard across the face. “You are just a stupid cunt. I used you, and now I’m going to discard you.”

Daisy, despite her chains, tried to lunge at Andy, who laughed. He wasn’t laughing when he felt the first strike of the paddle. He really wasn’t laughing when the second strike broke it over his head. In fact, he was enraged and lunged at her. Moving quickly to one side, he sprawled across the bondage table and grabbed her wrist.

“You are making this too easy, little girl. I wasn’t going to hurt you before I killed you, but now I’m going to take my time and enjoy it…”

“You were saying?” Nicola smiled as she snapped the cuff around his wrist.

“I’m going to kill you, all of you,” he snarled. “You really think this will hold me for long?”

“No, but this will.” She leaned down and picked up the dropped Tasers. Smiling, she asked, “Point and shoot, right?”

  Chapter Thirteen

  One week later

Nicola loaded the last of her things into her SUV. The case was over. Andy and Daisy were in the county lock up over at Kinsdale. A judge had ordered them held without bail while they awaited trial.

She’d even finished all of her paperwork regarding what had happened. She’d also reported back to her boss at SSP. She’d even gone back to see the shrink, who cleared her to come back to work.

All in all, things were packed and in the SUV, not that she had much with her. Most of her stuff was back East in the apartment she never used. She looked around then shut the tailgate. She turned to Candy and gave her a hug.

“I’m sorry my idiot brother and his equally idiotic friend aren’t here to see you off. Dace did ask that I ask you to stop by his office in Satisfaction to sign the last of the paperwork. I’m sorry, Nicola. I can’t think what’s wrong with him. They love you. You love them. I don’t get it.”

  “They are men, Candy.”

“Doesn’t that just say it all?”

“It does indeed. Which is why I’ve made a few decisions I haven’t told them about. Yet.”

The two women smiled, and Nicola reached out and hugged her new friend. Then she walked over to her SUV, climbed in, and put it in gear. Five minutes later, she was parked beside the sheriff’s office. The parking lot was surprisingly empty. It just held Dace’s cruiser and Micah’s truck.

It was going to be like that, was it?

Squaring her shoulders, she walked up the steps and through the door. She had never been in the station before. It wasn’t very impressive, except, of course, for the two hot guys staring at the door as if waiting for her, which they probably were. Men!

“Candy said you had some papers to sign?”

Dace stood, walked up to Nicola, and took her right elbow, guiding her through a doorway. Micah held the door and then followed. Interesting. They were in the cell block. Both were empty, but one seemed to have a much more comfortable bed inside. In fact, it was more like a proper double bed than a jail cot.

She turned to look at Dace, and that’s when Micah grabbed her and carried her into the cell. Then he backed away and slid the door shut, locking her in.

“What do you two think you are doing?”

“Stopping you from leaving us before we have a chance to talk. I love you so much I can’t think straight, dammit, and I don’t want you to leave.”

“I love you, too, and you can’t leave us. Dace and I wouldn’t survive without you. Please, Nicola. Give us another chance to prove it to you.”

“Listen to Micah. Let’s start over. Please. Maybe if you are based in El Paso, we can drive up and date or something.”

“We’ve had a whole week to talk, but neither of you said a thing to me other than about the case. Why are you just bringing this up now? Because you think I’m leaving?”

“We made love to you every night. That should have told you something. We’ve been waiting for the right time, but it never seemed to happen. And then you announced this morning that you were heading back east, and I didn’t know what to do.”

“So you and Micah decided to take me prisoner?”

“Well, we had to do something. Micah and I talked, but we thought things were going well and we didn’t want to freak you out by asking to change our agreement. We thought we had more time than a single week to convince you to stay. You came to Satisfaction for a month. It’s only been a couple of weeks. We have another week at least to woo you!”

“Guys, if you didn’t notice, I didn’t have a single nightmare all week. That should have told you something, too.”

Her words didn’t have the effect she’d intended as both men seemed to sag.

“You mean you’re ready to go back to work?” Dace’s voice was raw.

  “I am.”

“I’ll get the key.” He turned, but stopped when she spoke.

“Why? It’s pretty comfy in here.” She sat down on the bed and leaned back.

“You said you are cleared for work. That was when you went to El Paso on Monday, right? That’s why you are leaving today. You’re going back to work for SSP.”

“You two really are a couple of dumbasses, aren’t you?”

  The two men just stared.

“I’m leaving town so I can go back East, pack my condo up, and put it on the market.”

“Does that mean you’ll be based in El Paso, or maybe somewhere else?”

“Sort of. It means I’ll be based in Satisfaction.”

“SSP doesn’t have an office here.”

“But Candy has a restaurant, and we are going into business together, which means I have to live in Satisfaction.”

  “Business?”

“Micah, you should know what that means. You have a business of your own.”

“I’m afraid I’m feeling a little dense, kitten. You might have to spell it out for me.” He was starting to get it, though, she realized as he started to smile.

Dace, though, was still clueless. “You mean as a cover?”

“No, nitwit. As a baker. Your sister and I are opening a bakery!”

  “You are not leaving us?”

“No, I’m not going anywhere. I’ve decided I like Satisfaction, and I like the two of you. God knows why when you are so dense sometimes.”

She leaned back in the bed then sat up and shrugged out of her top. Then she lay back again and frowned. Off came her shoes, socks, and pants.

Smiling at them, she lay back, head on her hands. “I’ve always wanted to try out the jail room.

  “What’s that?”

  “The two of you!”

She laughed as Dace and Micah fought to get the key into the lock. “There’s only one condition…”

That stopped them in their tracks. Looking at her suspiciously, Dace asked, “What’s that?”

“I want a commitment ceremony. I know it’s early days, and I don’t expect it today or even next week, but I want to know that we are on the same page. I’m not looking for a fling. I’m looking at forever, and if you two aren’t interested in having it all, including a couple of kids, then let’s just stop here and now. I’m not messing around. I’m not looking for friends-with-benefits or fuck buddies. I want a husband, or rather two, and you guys are the prime candidates, that is if you can take on a slightly damaged former agent who sometimes has nightmares and will always love you with every last breath.”

“Sounds like a good deal to me. Dace, what do you think?”

“I want at least two daughters.”

“And I want two sons,” Micah chimed in.

“I’ll do my best. Now get in here and
let’s seal the deal.”
