“Become Beocraft and we will give you a new identity… become M-Rex.”

Shady slowly took the mask from him and then wore it over his face. His body structure began to change rapidly into someone else.

Then a masked figure came from behind and then clothed shady with a big black hooded garment. Slowly raising his head to look at them through the mask, shady spoke in a voice that wasn’t his’.

  “I accept.”

CHAPTER TWENTY NINE: DARK STAIN OF BLOOD

Early the next morning, the sun set high in the sky to mark the dawn of a new day.

“Damn, it’s finally April 26th -Kevin’s birthday.” Derik cursed beneath his breathe looking over the calendar in the hall way as he walked to William’s office. “We are running out of time.”

He avoided being spotted by any of the officers already present there at the taskforce. Derik plugged the keys he had stolen into the key hole to open the door into William’s office. William wasn’t in his office yet.

Quickly reaching for the drawers, he took out the keys to Lawrence’s office and then snuck out. He cautiously walked up to Lawrence’s office pressing his back against the wall as he moved. Reaching up to the door, Derik tried all the keys on the bunch and none of them could get the door to open. Derik was totally frustrated at that moment. He wondered why it won’t open.

Curious to know what was behind that locked door, he crushed the door with his bare hands. Derik’s hands were enlarged and animal hairs grew out of it. He walked through the door quickly heading for that door inside Lawrence’s office that had grabbed his attention. With a single thrust of his fist, he brought down the door.

Looking over the room inside, it was totally empty except for the big suit jacket in a hanger that hung from the wall and on top of it was a cowboy hat.

Derik wondered why Lawrence had a special room made to keep his jacket but then he noticed something hanging off the suit jacket breast pocket. Pulling it out, he found it was just an envelope. Three pictures fell off from the pocket as he took out the envelope. Derik bent to pick up the photographs from the ground and then looked over at it.

He frowned suspiciously as he stared over passport photograph of Murphy, Leonard and Sam McClain. Murphy and Leonard’s photograph had a big red X mark drawn over it while Sam McClain’s photograph was still unmarked.

Derik felt his chest heaving rapidly as he stood there looking over the two marked photos. It was similar to the one he had seen in the little bungalow at 57 old Avenue hills. Derik then quickly tore the envelop open and then brought out a little letter which was folded inside.

Unfolding the letter, he read out its content.

  Lawrence Linus

In a bid to push through with the ritual as earlier

Scheduled, we have taken some decisive measure to eliminate the hindrances that stand in our way. See the attached photographs of three police officers of the fallout city police force. These police officers knows too much about this organization and thus poses a threat to the cooperation. Detective Murphy and Leonard, had earlier been obliterated but the location of the last Individual, Sam McClain still remain unknown to us. Find Him and do what needs to be done to avoid any complications in the future. Close up every

  loose end and stay safe.

  Crystalow

  24th April.

Derik stood there with the letter frozen in his hands. Goose bumps grew from his skin.

This is it! This is all I need to proof Lawrence is Beocraft…

But Who the hell is Crystalow? Derik mused.

Whoever killed Detective Murphy and Leonard is out there looking for Sam McClain, which means Sam is still alive. Beocraft doesn’t have him yet.

He suddenly heard the door to William’s office opening. He quickly dashed out of Lawrence’s office and then ran to William just before he entered his office.

“What are you still doing here?” William lour when he saw Derik.

Derik spoke in a hurry, “Am sorry sir, I know I shouldn’t be here but you have to see this.”

He quickly handed the letter to him. He then waited to see William’s reaction as he stood there watching him read the letter.

Williams face folded into an unappealing frown. Looking up at Derik, he asked, “Where did you get this?”

“That letter was for Lawrence… saw that in the room which you had refused to search.”

Reaching to his pocket, Derik brought out three passport photograph. “These passports were attached to the envelope which the letter was folded into.”

After a minute, Lawrence walked into the building.

William’s mood suddenly became foul. He quickly ordered the officers close to him to detain Lawrence. The big bodied bodyguard that accompanied Lawrence fought off the officers that tried to restrain Lawrence.

Derik quickly took the rifle from one of the officers standing beside him. Aiming at the dark skinned bodyguard, he blew his head with the rifle. His head scattered like melon across the wall.

“What is the meaning of this?” Lawrence spoke sounding upset.

William walked up angrily to Lawrence and then bumped his fist into his face. The impact of the blow threw Lawrence on the floor.

Grabbing his shirt tightly, William spoke in a deep angry tone. “Where is my daughter you knavish bastard?”

“Mr. William, what do you think you are doing?” Lawrence said in a harsh tone.

William landed a blow on Lawrence’s face that sent the old man spinning on the titled floor. Then he walked up to him and then squeezed his shirt holding up his fist to punch him again.

“I swear to God, if you don’t tell me where my daughter is am going to rip of every single bone in your body.”

William glared at him holding up his fist at him. His fist was shaking terribly as he held it up at Lawrence. William’s face covered in anger.

“Look William, whoever you think I did, I can assure you that it didn’t…”

But William ripped the words out of his mouth when he thrust his fist into Lawrence’s face. The impact broke his nose.

“I want a location.” William gnashed his teeth at him. “if the next word that comes off your mouth is not that location, I swear to God, am going to rip your fuck’n head off.” His eye looked murderous as he gazed down at Lawrence.

As if on cue, Derik stepped forward to hold back William. He startled back in fear when William glared at him.

“Stay out of this.” William quickly warmed him.

Everyone in the building had gathered to watch.

“…I am going to ask you this for the very last time, where is my daughter?” wrinkles appeared over William’s forehead.

Lawrence spoke weakly. “William, you have to stop this madness.”

Almost immediately, William lost all control over his action. He began to punch Lawrence repeatedly on the face. William was visibly shaking in anger. He walked to an officer standing beside him. Quickly collecting the gun from him, he aimed it at Lawrence but then Derik moved quickly to stop him.

“Sir, if you kill him we wouldn’t be able to find Natasha. He is the only lead we’ve got now. He won’t be of any use to us if he is dead.”

Lawrence just sat there on the floor bleeding from both his mouth and nose. He glared at William. He quickly turned to one of the officers nearest to him and ordered him to arrest William at once but his order was flaunted. Nobody moved at his command.

William ordered that Lawrence be taken to the shifter prison. Some officer came and took him away. They threw him into one of the trucks parked outside the building, then they drove away.

Thirty minute into the road, some hooded figure dropped on top of the truck in a loud thud. One of them swung into the truck through the window and then kicked the driver hard on the head. Blood spilled from his head as he hit the staring wheel. The hooded figure then quickly tore his throat out.

The truck skid of the road and crashed into a tree. The rest of the hooded figures q
uickly swing into the back of the truck. Lawrence was lying on the ground covered in his own blood.

The hooded figures slit the throat of every officer at the back of that truck with Lawrence, then they took Lawrence out from the truck. One of the hooded figures tore the cuffs from Lawrence’s hand. The cuffs fell from his hands. Lawrence rubbed his arms around his wrist and then looked over at them wearing a cocky smile on his face.

“I have been compromised… executed plan B at once.”

  TO BE CONTINUED…

Derik had received the news of the incidence that took place on the road while they were driving Lawrence down to the shifter’s prison. It was something he had seen coming.

He drove to the scene of the incidence to see for himself the extent of the damages that had been caused. The place was like a slaughter house.

Every single officer in that vehicle that had escorted Lawrence to be locked up had been butchered. Their bodies where all alined on the road and covered up in plastic bags. The scene had been sealed off by the police department who were on ground conducting a thorough investigation.

There were not many options left now. Lawrence was last hope at finding Natasha, but now he’s gone. Time was running out.

Natasha could be screaming in pain right now while I stand here doing nothing.

Derik drove down to Cedric’s place. It wasn’t the best choice at that time it became necessary. He was getting really desperate to find Natasha before he is too late.

He parked his car on the sidewalk opposite the building. He looked through his window at the Cedric’s house. The place looked deserted like no one had been there for several days.

Derik got down from the car, and then walked up to the door. Opening the door, he walked into the building. He felt so vulnerable walking through the house without his gun.

His eye first fell on the picture frame which hung on the wall. It was a photograph of Cedric in his military uniform. Kevin looked over the picture next to that one. It was another photograph of Cedric giving a handshake to an elderly woman dressed on suit. Derik wasn’t sure he’d recognized the elderly woman standing with him in the photo.

Derik noticed that all the photographs hanging on the wall only had Cedric’s first name written on it, there was no surname attached. It seemed odd to Derik. It was almost as if Cedric had no real origin. He looked over the photograph pondering over the reason why Cedric had no surname, then he heard a faint thud.

He was on alert. Kevin was conscious of the fact that he wasn’t alone in the house, he then began to walk cautiously around the room. He pressed his back against the wall as he moved through each room.

Entering into a room, his eye fell on an old rifle that hung on the wall. He took the gun. Confirming it was loaded, he left that room into another.

The next room which he had entered looked scanty and abandoned. He caught a glimpse of the scattered drawings on the ground. Looking over the drawings, it was the same drawing Kevin had handed to him. Derik quickly figured the room belonged to Kevin.

He suddenly heard footsteps coming from the other room. Now he was sure he wasn’t alone. Holding up the rifle to his chest, he walked cautiously out of the room. His eyeballs swung in every direction searching for sign of anybody.

He came upon the room where he had heard the footstep. Walking up the door, he heard the footstep intensified like there was somebody moving inside that room.

Derik pressed his back against the wall close beside the door as he cautiously opened the door. Suddenly the footstep inside stopped. Derik quickly pushed the door open and then rushed into the room.

Something –or someone quickly kicked the gun off his hand. Derik quickly engaged his attacker in a fist fight. Derik quickly grabbed him by the waist and threw him down on the ground.

“Derik?” his attacked called out to him in a surprised tone. Derik quickly recognized the voice. Looking over at him, Derik frowned. “detective Alex?”

Stretching fourth his hands at Alex to help him up, he said “I could have killed you… what are doing down here?”

“The mayor personally hired me to privately investigate Natasha’s kidnap at his daughter’s request…I thought of coming down here to start looking for anything we might have missed earlier which could help us find her.” Turning to Derik, Alex asked. “What brought you down here?”

“Same reason… Mr. William had placed me as the lead detective in finding his daughter.”

Alex froze suddenly realizing something. Derik noticed the look on his face suddenly change, then he asked, “What’s wrong?”

Alex walked to a table at the corner which had a Hugh book placed on it. He began to flip rapidly through the pages of the book as if searching for something. He’d finally found it. His eye widened as he stood there looking over the page.

  “Of course!” Alex mouthed.

Derik walked over and then stood beside him looking down at the page he had opened. It was a page on the full biography of officer Murphy and Leonard.

  “Did you find something?”

“Everything that has been happening in the past few days haven’t been a coincidence… someone has been trying to recreate the past events.” Alex said.

“Murphy and Leonard were never assigned to be partners from their prescient. They only became partners the day after they had found Loretta’s body and then rescued Kevin from that room he watched her die… Murphy was a detective working with state security in fallout city while Leonard was the detective working with the local police. Murphy was hired by the mayor of Fallout city to investigate on miss Loretta’s whereabouts while Leonard started working on the case after Loretta’s dad reported her kidnapped to the police. The both came to meet each other when they both got the same lead on the building where Loretta might held. But when they had gotten there, they were too late. Loretta had already been tortured to death and her corpse was already starting to decay.”

Alex looked over at Derik and then said, “We are the Murphy and Leonard of this story and Natasha is Loretta. The mayor hired me to search for Miss Natasha’s whereabouts and you were hired by her dad to find his daughter.”

It was all starting to make sense to Derik.

Derik was filled with surprise at how Alex was able to figure that out. “If we are Murphy and Leonard of the past then we already know how this all ends. We will both be too late when we finally find Natasha… and it means we both die in the end, just as Murphy and Leonard did.”

“Am not going to let that happen...” Alex uttered

“Who knows what T-Rex might be doing to them right now as we both stand here doing nothing.”

Derik paced around the room nervously.

He then began to think out loud, “C-Rex had kidnapped Loretta two days to her wedding and now he also waited until it was two day to Kevin’s birthday before he’d kidnapped Natasha. T-Rex tortured Loretta on her wedding day that means he is also going to do same thing to Natasha today. Murphy and Leonard arrived there a day after, they were too late. God knows if we are not already too late.”

Derik closed his eye pressurizing himself hard to think. “Derik think! Derik think!! Where could T-Rex be holding them?”

“What piece of information could I be missing, what am I not seeing… T-Rex is trying to recreate a murder from a year ago which means everything is going to be exactly the same as the last time.” Then he paused, running a deep analysis in of his head.

He suddenly opened his eye wide and shouted, “of course! ---The same building he had used the last time.”

There was a deafening silence in the room as they stood looking at each other.

“-T-Rex is going to use the same warehouse he had used a year ago.” Derik’s eye widened.

  “Checkmate!”

Kevin opened his eyes slowly. His head aching really bad like a thousand drums were being played on his head. He tried to raise his hand to touch his head, that was when he noticed he couldn’t move. Both his hands and
feet had been tied to the chair which he sat. He struggled to move his hand but the belt which was used to restrain him wouldn’t let him.

He sat on a chair that felt so familiar… like a year ago. He looked around the room nervously. He felt his heart sank when he suddenly recognized the room. This was the exact spot he sat a year ago when he watched T-Rex torture Loretta to death.

  Am I dreaming?

  Is history repeating itself?

Why am I sitting in the same room I sat over a year ago?

Am I reliving my past again?

All these questions started flooded his mind. He suddenly remembered reading a writing on the wall which says `Happy Death day’.

It was all starting to come back to him. He remembered seeing the masked man with the C mask that’d knocked him out with a shovel.

His eye widened at the fact that he wasn’t dreaming or reliving his past, it was really happening. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He knew he wasn’t alone in that room when his eye fell on T-Rex, who sat watching him from a dark corner. Kevin felt his heart racing faster at the sight of T-Rex sitting there at the corner, just watching him.

T-Rex stood up and then walked slowly towards him and when T-Rex stood before him, Kevin looked over at him and then asked “where is Natasha?” T-Rex said nothing. He stood there looking over him silently.

“What have you done with her?” Kevin’s voice intensified.

T-Rex moved over to the table and grabbed a rag on the table. Kevin quickly recognized the rag as the one he had used to gag him over a year ago. T-Rex then tied the little piece of clothing over his mouth to keep him quite. Kevin groaned horribly through the rag.

Kevin eye widened when he suddenly realized something. T-Rex was trying to recreate the past. T-Rex walked the exact same way he had over a year ago.

“It’s your birthday Kevin… so cheer up” T-Rex smiled genuinely. “…and that is why I have a pleasant surprise for you.” T-Rex walked over to the light switch. Moving over the light switch, T-Rex turned the light on. The room brightened.
