  "If you want to."

  "Of course I do."

  "You do?"

"Yes," he said eagerly. "I know you want to go to Paris and that's fine. That's great. The tickets are in the box on the desk. That's your real birthday present."

"What? No!" Lucie sent a quick glance over to the package. "Paris?" she squealed, throwing her arms around his neck. "Really? And we can walk in the rain and will you read me sonnets? I am so going to marry you!"

His eyes searched hers. Softly, he asked, "You're serious? You're really saying yes?"

"Of course I'm saying yes." She loved him so much she could feel it every time she breathed. "After you got back Pandora's Boxers for me, and this wonderful birthday party, how could I not marry you? Ian, I loved you the first time I saw you in your kilt at the altar. I lied. You are so my type." She couldn't keep the little quaver out of her voice. "I just didn't think I was yours."

He exhaled deeply, then he held her pressed close in a hard, tight embrace. Into her ear, he whispered, "You're mine."

Lucie framed his gorgeous face with her hands, looked at him for a long moment, and then kissed him sweet and long. "This is the most incredible way to celebrate your birthday, I have to tell you."

He grinned, swinging her up into his arms and moving for the bed. "Just wait till you see what I do next year." He nibbled her ear and slipped the strap off one shoulder. "You like surprises, don't you?"

  Lucie laughed. "I do now."
