by Susan Fisher-Davis

“To love me isn’t enough, Cassidy. You have to trust me too. I can’t do this if you don’t trust my love for you.”

Cassidy stepped closer to him and touched his chest. He stared down at her and swallowed hard. He loved her so much.

“I do. I trust you or I wouldn’t be here. I love you and I trust you, Ashford Beckett.” She stood on her toes and kissed his lips then took his bottom lip between her teeth. Ash groaned and wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close then took her lips in a deep kiss. She moaned into his mouth.

“I love you, Cassidy. I don’t care that I wasn’t your first. I just want to be your last. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Marry me,” he whispered against her lips.

“Yes. I’ll marry you, Ash. You’re the man for me, the only man.”

Ash grinned against her lips. “You’re damn right I am, darlin’.”

Cassidy laughed then squealed when he picked her up, tossed her over his shoulder, and headed toward his bedroom.

“Where are you taking me? I have a wedding to plan,” she said, laughing.

“First, we have some time to make up for,” he said as he carried down the hallway and kicked the bedroom door shut behind them. They both laughed when Bandit started howling.

  Epilogue

Ash watched Cassidy as she walked down the aisle toward him. Behind her veil, he could see she had a big smile on her gorgeous face. He glanced down at her bouquet to see it shaking. She was nervous. He grinned at her and winked. The veil ruffled out when she blew out a breath. He’d been nervous, at first. Thinking she wouldn’t go through with it but then he remembered she loved him, and he knew she would be here. He loved her so much, and he was so ready to start their lives together, and have a few kids. Maybe more than a few.

“She looks beautiful,” Brayden said from beside him.

“I know. I can’t believe I’m doing this,” Ash muttered.

Brayden chuckled. “I can’t either, but she’s what you need in your life. You’ll be happy with her.”

“Yes. She is my life.” He glanced at his brother. “Like Melissa is yours.”

“Yes, she is. I never thought I’d find love again.” Brayden put his hand on Ash’s shoulder. “I want the best for you and Cassie.”

Ash nodded. Brian led Cassidy to him, and Ash stepped down to take her hand in his then raised it to his lips. He never thought he’d fall in love or ever love someone this much. He planned to do everything in his power to make her happy every day.

“Take care of my girl, Ash,” Brian said, smiling at him.

“You know I will, Brian. I can’t have Nora coming after me,” Ash said and chuckled.

Brian laughed then raised Cassidy’s veil and kissed her cheek then lowered the veil again. He took his seat in the front pew beside Nora. Ash looked at Nora to see her crying, but she smiled at him, and winked. He grinned at her. Having Nora as a mother-in-law wouldn’t be easy because the woman said whatever she felt like and damn the consequences, but Ash also knew she loved him. She knew he’d treat Cassidy right and never hurt her.

He turned his attention to Cassidy and led her up the two steps to stand in front of the priest. The little church was filled to capacity and people who couldn’t fit in, stood outside in the heat. Just about everyone he knew got married in this church in Clifton. It had become somewhat of a tradition since Jake Stone married Becca Daniels for people to stand outside if the church was full. Ash mentally shook his head. It seemed the little town loved weddings.

“You look so handsome,” Cassidy whispered.

“You are gorgeous, and I can’t wait to get you out of that dress.”

When the priest cleared his throat, Ash heard Brayden chuckle. Cassidy laughed softly.

Ash stared into his future wife’s beautiful grey eyes. She had her long dark red hair swept up with tendrils framing her face. A blush stained her cheeks. He grinned at her and squeezed her hand.

  “I’m so nervous,” Cassie whispered.

“Why? I’m not anymore,” Ash whispered back.

“At least, you were at one point though. Good. I don’t feel so bad.” She smiled at him.

“I thought you wouldn’t show up, but then I remembered you love me.” He shrugged. “So the nerves disappeared.”

“You know me too well.” Cassidy chuckled.

“Are you two ready?” the priest asked them.

“Father, I was born ready,” Ash said making Cassidy laugh.

Once they were pronounced husband and wife, Ash lifted her veil, cupped her face in his hands and pressed his lips to hers. When she touched his tongue with hers, he moved his hands down her back to her ass, and pulled her tight against him then deepened the kiss. When the guests chuckled, Ash lifted his head and stared into her eyes.

“We’re going to have a great life together,” he whispered above her lips.

  “I believe we will. I can’t wait.”

Ash grinned and lowered his lips to hers. He knew life would never be dull being married to Cassidy and for that, he was thankful.

The reception was in full swing when they finally arrived after all the photos were taken. When they entered the town hall, everyone cheered. Ash pulled her to him and pressed his lips to hers. Everyone laughed or whistled.

Ash lifted his head, and Cassie touched his cheek. She couldn’t believe she was married again, but this time would be so different. She knew it. Ash had morals and would never cheat on her. He’d be a wonderful husband and father to any children they had, and she definitely wanted this man’s children.

She already loved her in-laws. Lori and Chester Beckett had made her feel an immediate part of the family soon after Ash told them they were getting married. His brothers teased her constantly about marrying into the Beckett family, and she had a feeling she was going to be close to Dani, her new sister-in-law.

“Now, for their first dance as husband and wife, may I present…Cassidy and Ash Beckett,” a man said from the small stage where the band had setup.

When Everything I do, I do it for you started playing, a tear rolled down her cheek and she looked at Ash as he led her to the dance floor.

“You remembered how much I love this song.”

Ash lifted her hand and kissed the palm. “Of course…I remember everything about that trip to Butte.” He kissed her forehead then turned her in his arms. “And I mean everything.”

A blush moved across her cheeks as she remembered that trip.

“Then we came back, and I hurt you. I’m so sorry, Ash.” She laid her head on his shoulder.

“But you fixed it, don’t forget that.”

“You are the best thing in my life, Ashford Beckett.” She lifted her head and gazed up at him.

“I love you, Cassidy. I’ll love you until I take my last breath and if possible, beyond. I will kiss you every day. I’ll tell you I love you every day and that still won’t be enough,” he whispered, and another tear rolled down her cheek.

“I believe you,” she whispered making him grin.

She knew that meant more than hearing her say she loved him because that he knew. Together, they swayed to the music as one. Cassie stared up into the gorgeous face of the man who had conquered her fears of falling in love again. She wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled up at him knowing he would love her the rest of her days, just as she would love him.
