buttons and flicking switches to get the TARDIS powered up and ready to fly.

Mickey got inside, but he didn't look very happy. He wondered what the Doctor was up to now. Apparently he had a plan, but Mickey didn't have the courage to ask.

'Where are we going?' Rose asked as she turned a knob and held down a lever on the Doctor's directions.

'I am going after Patchwork.' the Doctor said determinately and activated the TARDIS's engines. 'He made a big mistake. He told me he was not human and there are not many aliens to track down in Cardiff. I am scanning for some residual energy from his spaceship and?Ah, there you are?I am following it now.' the Doctor explained.

'Patchwork, you made a very big mistake.' the Doctor added furiously whilst looking at the control column moving up and down in sync with the grinding sound of the engine.

'How come Lynne healed you like that? You haven't regenerated. How did she do that?' Rose asked him curiously.

'Ah well, she is a Daughter of the Time Lords, you see. She has fascinating unique skills, you could call them, and healing is one amongst them. You already knew about the telepathy.' the Doctor explained no longer angry, just a bit pre occupied with controlling the TARDIS.

'But she is not a Time Lord then?' Rose asked confused.

'No, not exactly. She is a Daughter, it's different. They are like a subspecies that have evolved from the Time Lord race. Daughters are very uncommon and they are born with different 'skills' than a Time Lord, me. Though they seem to have only advances, like better telepathy skills and the ability to heal themselves but also others, there are also some drawbacks. They don't have a near infinite lifespan, as I do and they are a lot less intelligent, well, still enough to make your mind boggle, mind you. Oh, that might have been a bit confusing, was it? It probably was confusing.' the Doctor said in between the purposeful flicking of switches and pushing of buttons all around the control column.

'No, no. I can still follow you, go on.' Rose said who by now was used to his multitasking and his unique way of explaining complicated things very quickly though barely comprehensively.

'Okay. So, Daughters and Time Lords are of the same kind, but there were so few Daughters and they possessed such exceptional skills that they were treasured and looked after very well by all Time Lords. They were not supposed to leave the home world. In fact they were not allowed to travel at all, certainly not through time. So I am still puzzled how Lynne ended up on Earth. How she was able to get her hands on a TARDIS she could fly.' the Doctor explained to Rose and thought about it for a while.

'So that is why he was so protective over her. It was a common thing among his people.' Rose thought to herself.

'Do you think she will be alright? Will she wake up soon?' she then asked.

'I don't know.' the Doctor said gravely. Then there was a beeping sound coming from the TARDIS controls. 'Oh, no. No. Come on. Yes, you can do it.' the Doctor said while racing around the controls. 'Ah, there you go.'

He turned off the engines and looked on the screen for any interesting readings. Rose still couldn't make any sense of the moving circles and shapes that appeared on the screen, though the Doctor had tried to explain many times.

'So you have found where Patchwork has gone to?' Rose asked him because she couldn't tell from the screen and the Doctor didn't give any hints either.

'Hm? Oh yes. We fell behind for a moment there, but we should be somewhere about the same place Patchwork is too.' the Doctor said, but Rose didn't like the sound of that. He was being vague again and she knew what that meant.

'Which means, he is not sure and we could be anywhere.' Rose thought to herself.

'Hang on. I will be right back.' the Doctor said and he rushed to the door and put on his overcoat. 'And wait here.' he stressed before he went out.

'Well shoot me, if I ever get to understand what he is up to. Does he even know what he is doing himself?' Mickey said to Rose.

Rose just shrugged. She was used to the fact that the Doctor sometimes ran ahead of himself, but he usually had some sort of plan.

'Where are we anyway?' Mickey wondered aloud.

'We are on an asteroid.' the Doctor said who had just returned. He had a happy face which meant things worked out the way he had planned or maybe even better.

'Really, so what did you go out to do then?' he asked.

'I found Patchwork's ship and sabotaged it. I took out its Nocens Node Core Chip Transistor and the Variable Time Field Generator. He isn't going anywhere ever again! He is stuck on an empty asteroid millions of miles away from Earth and thousands of years in the past.' the Doctor proudly explained.

'Just like that? You did all that in under a minute?' Mickey asked with utter disbelief.

'Yep.' the Doctor replied with a big smile.

'Funny man, he is, and weird. A bit off his rocker, I'd say. Why she wants to keep travelling with him I'll never understand. ' Mickey thought to himself.

'So let's get out of here, quick! Where shall we go?' the Doctor asked Rose while he started up the TARDIS's engines. 'Back in time, or forward, or to a distant planet or moon? Oh, wait! I know. Mickey, this one will be for you. Hold on. Here we go!' he said as he set the TARDIS in motion and jubilantly sat down on the chair next to Rose, with his feet up on the console.
