  Chapter Seventeen

  Journal of Bellamy Andrews

He is beautiful. He is everything I could have wished for in a lover. It has been two years since my creation and I have only now decided to write this down. There are moments when I feel the thoughts and emotions of Korrie Odell, but I have absorbed her inside myself. The woman he loved has become a part of the man he cannot live without. I have made certain of this. Some days it is an odd feeling blending male and female, but I have become used to two parts of one residing in this body. These parts of separate body and mind have come together in agreement. I have no regrets.

Perhaps my passionate jealousy comes from the root of the man and not the woman. I no longer can tell the difference, nor do I want to. What I am, he created. What I will always be is the mate he desired. That perfect counterpart to him, as he is to me.

He has chosen not to rebuild the house that was burnt to the ground and I don’t blame him. He says there are no longer spirits here ‑‑ they have all left. The rage of the inferno two years ago has somehow cleansed this place. Enough for us to live in peace.

We spend our time studying the sciences and philosophy and the creation of life. We argue, we play, we make love. We live.

We are still protected in the world we have created here in Fall’s Creek. Sometimes I would like to see more of the world, but for now I listen to Athan’s caution. He has survived much longer than I and until we find a way to mobilize the machine, I am content. For now.

It’s time to prepare. Athan must take his electrophasm treatment tonight. Maybe one day I’ll document all these adventures. The other day we were working in the garden near the tool shed and found the experimental folders that Paul hid. Athan was shocked at their discovery.

Between the journals and the disks he found in Paul’s coat and now the folders, all of the Ransoms’ experimental notes have been recovered. They reside once again in the vault in the lab. Athan thinks we should just burn them, so they can never be used as a means to greed again. But I cautioned that we should wait. One never knows if they might be useful once again. After all, immortality is a very long time.

I hear the hum of the machine as Athan readies it for his treatment. Tonight I shall be his vessel, I shall be the one possessed and mounted. Again and again. No two creatures have ever been so perfectly mated as Athan and I.

  My soulmate calls.

  THE END

  Adrianna Dane

The first defining love story Adrianna read back in junior high school was Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, and that set her on the road to her long standing love affair with the romance genre. Her inspiration in writing often can be found by listening to song lyrics and reading poetry by such poets as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ranier Maria Rilke. But finding inspiration for her stories truly has no boundaries for Adrianna.

She freely admits she is a romantic by nature and adding sensual heat to romance with a dusting of suspense is her motto. Esmerelda's Secret, released by Amber Quill Press in June of 2004, was Adrianna's first book, and with that story and her subsequent books has firmly established herself as a voice within the sensual/erotic romance genre.

Adrianna always looks forward to hearing from her readers and she may be contacted at adriannadane@yahoo.com. Find out more about her current releases as well as planned future releases and book signings by checking for updates at www.adriannadane.com.
