Blooddrinker's Prophecy

Roz, her eyes bright orange and her cheeks streaked with fresh tears, leaned over a prone Ali upon her bed.

Blood was everywhere. The linens, the wall, the floor. And it covered Ali’s right side, staining her blonde hair pink.

“He attacked her,” Lukas grumbled, shoving past Maks with a phone plastered to his ear. “She’s lost a lot of blood.”

“Is that the doctor?” Maks asked. Ali needed a doctor.

  There was so much blood.

No one answered him, so he crossed to the bed and replaced Roz’s shaking hands upon Ali’s throat so Roz could focus solely on her magical spells of healing and rejuvenation. Fresh blood pulsed hot and sticky against his palm. She was still alive, but her skin had turned translucent, every blue vein in her face and chest visible.

“What happened?” he whispered to the room in general.

“Connor lost it,” Lukas answered in between calls. Next was to 911 dispatch. “I smelled the blood and tried to get him off her, but he…” Lukas quickly explained the situation to whoever had picked up at the call center.

Maks wasn’t a very patient person. As he applied pressure to Ali’s wound and waited for Lukas to end the conversation, he tried to focus on her breathing and heart rate. Neither was very stable. If someone didn’t intervene soon, her heart would stop for good.

“Where is he?” Maks demanded the second Lukas finished his call.

Maks would beat the arrogant ass to bloody paste. How dare he lay a finger on his child?

“He ran off,” the shapeshifter sighed. “He’s not answering his phone. Do you have any idea what’s going on with him?”

“He’s succumbed to his bloodlust,” Maks ground out, thinking that was least of the things Connor would be suffering from after he got his hands on him. “He’s lost control.”

“Then we have to find him before he hurts anyone else.”

Maks tore his eyes from Ali’s still, pale face to glare threateningly at Lukas. “If I find him first, I’m going to kill him.”
