  Lauren flung her hair back from her brow, "Good news, Mr. Carpenter is going to be okay, but the 17-year-old kid that hit him is in a lot of trouble. Unfortunately, he panicked and decided to leave the scene."

  "And Mrs. Carpenter?" asked Ace.

  "From what I've heard, she's still gambling her life away at the Sunset."

  "Poor Mr. Carpenter," he yawned. "Let's go home, Laur."

  Lauren took a final glance at Second Wind, turned her back on the setting sun, and walked back towards the shore. Ace followed her.
