Ride Along

Page 6

by Meghan Maslow

Josh stilled, every muscle in him wanting to thrust deep and pound Drew into the mattress. But he wasn’t about to hurt him. Josh lowered himself so they were chest-to-chest, so Drew could wrap his legs around Josh’s hips. He traced his tongue along Drew’s lip ring.

  “So sexy.”

“The lip ring?” Drew panted, the pain easing from his face.

“You.” Josh nipped at his lip, sucking it into his mouth. Drew raked his fingers down his back and gripped his ass.

  “Unng, move.”

Josh complied. Slowly. He thrust forward, Drew’s body relaxing around him, but still so tight his dick was being strangled. When he bottomed out they both groaned, and this time Josh sensed it was all pleasure for Drew.

He slowly withdrew until only his tip was still inside, then thrust back with some power behind it. Angling himself, he did it again, making sure to hit Drew’s gland. When Drew keened and flexed his hips, Josh had to bite his cheek so as not to come that instant. Damn, this was so much better than he’d expected.

“Harder.” Drew tightened his legs around him.

Josh grabbed Drew’s hair again and directed him to his mouth. Before he kissed him, he breathed against his lips, “Demanding little ginger,” then pushed inside. His kiss mirrored his strokes and soon they were both moaning and clawing at each other, Josh’s cock pistoning in and out of Drew’s eager hole.

Drew surprised Josh by throwing his weight and rolling them until he was on top. Breaking the kiss, Drew sat up, a triumphant look on his face, and began riding Josh, slamming his hips down, then pausing for a second before doing it again. His fingers curled into Josh’s chest, keeping him balanced.

Josh considered putting Drew back under him, knew he could easily do so. But Drew was so hot with his hair flowing down his back and his body flush with arousal. His blue eyes were intense and locked on Josh in a way that made him feel like Drew was looking past his exterior to the man within. And damn, it just felt too good.

“That’s right, bem, ride me. Yeah, bottom me so good.”

“You like that?” Drew asked, swiveling his hips in a way that made Josh’s toes curl. “Yeah, I see you do. I don’t like playing passive bottom. Hope you don’t mind.” He picked up the pace and Josh could barely breathe.

“I definitely don’t mind. Mmm. That’s it, fuck my cock, bem.” He reached up and gripped Drew’s hips, enjoying the show. Each time Drew slammed down, he clenched around him and Josh thought he might lose it. “So tight for me.”

Their bodies slapped together as Drew increased his pace again and Josh’s back arched. He shifted a hand from Drew’s hip to grip his dripping cock and stroked to the rhythm Drew set. Drew growled and sped up, so Josh did too, his hand slick with Drew’s precome.

Holding the rhythm became more difficult the closer he got to the edge, but he was determined to keep up. Drew seemed determined to get him to lose his pace. When Drew leaned forward and pushed his tongue into Josh’s mouth, he lost it. Josh gripped Drew’s perfect ass and thrust up to meet each stroke, setting the pace as his orgasm took over.

“Drew, fuuuck!” His cock swelled in Drew’s ass as heat flooded his pelvis. His balls lifted and tightened, and Drew clamped down on him as he thrust mindlessly. When his orgasm hit, he threw back his head and roared as he filled the condom with everything he had. Felt like a whole year’s worth. Drew kissed him through it and stilled his hips when Josh grunted from the overstimulation. When Drew finally broke the kiss, Josh was boneless. Drew had a conquering hero grin on his face, and Josh couldn’t fault him.

“That good, Officer Hot Stuff?” Drew’s eyes were still dilated, the pupils blown wide against the clearest blue Josh had ever seen.

“Usually I’m the one who says I live to serve, but I think you’ve got what it takes.” He looked down at Drew’s still very hard dick. “Speaking of serving.”

He rolled until Drew was back under him. Gripping his dick at the base, he held the condom as he withdrew. After pulling it off, he tied it, then dropped the condom over the side of the bed to be taken care of later. Much later, if he had anything to say about it.

Drew had sucked in a pained breath when he pulled out.

  “You okay?”

“Oh yeah.” Drew had his hand wrapped around his cock again. Josh couldn’t have that. He batted it away and settled between Drew’s legs, running his tongue over Drew’s cockhead. Drew grunted.

“Think I found something you like.”

“Shut up and suck me.” Drew ruined the stern voice by snickering.

“Bossy little ginger.” Josh obliged. He closed his lips just over the tip and ran his tongue into Drew’s slit. The salty-sweet taste was a treat. Was there anything about Drew he didn’t like? He gently rolled Drew’s balls while sinking down on his shaft and sucking hard. He took as much as he could before his gag reflex kicked in. Gripping Drew’s base, he stroked in rhythm with his mouth, using plenty of spit to make the glide better. Drew’s cries of pleasure were music to his ears. He pulled off.

“Put your hands on the headboard and don’t move them.”

“You gonna handcuff me, Officer Hot Stuff?” Drew grinned.

Josh raised an eyebrow. “You wanna get off, right? If so, I suggest you hold on. Tight. Keep those hips still too.”

Drew groaned, but followed Josh’s directions. Josh returned to sucking him off, slipping two fingers inside Drew again and giving him a good rub. Drew’s back bowed, but he didn’t let go of the headboard.

  “Josh, I’m gonna come—”

Josh sank down on his shaft as far as he was able and gave Drew’s gland another nudge.

“Joao! Unng.” Drew’s legs shook and he thrust into Josh’s mouth, all control gone. Josh wanted to roar in triumph when he felt the first hot gush of Drew’s seed in his mouth. Being called by his real name was such a turn-on. He wanted to hear Drew shout his name while wrapped around his cock.

  Next time.

  Next time?

It brought him up short. Did he want a next time? He swallowed the rest of Drew’s come and leaned up to look at Drew’s blissed-out face. Damn. Yeah. He did. He ran a hand over Drew’s hip, across his belly, and up his chest, where he swirled a finger around a nipple.

“You trying to get me going again?” Drew’s voice was slurred, fucked-out.

“That a hot spot for you?” Josh couldn’t help but ask. He tweaked Drew’s nipple and enjoyed Drew’s sharp intake of breath. “Aw, yeah it is.”

“Joao,” Drew whined but didn’t make a move to block his hand. So Josh pinched him again as he slowly slid up his body, pausing on his trail to pepper it with kisses. By the time he reached Drew’s nipple with his mouth, Josh was fully hard again. For the first time in a while, Josh was grateful it was going to be a long—but definitely not lonely—night.

  Chapter SIX

WHEN THE alarm went off, Drew slammed the snooze. The damn thing didn’t work. He hit it a couple more times, then gave up and turned off the alarm. He kicked himself for telling Laura he’d meet her for breakfast. All he wanted to do was lounge around in bed with Josh for a few hours more. Hell, a few weeks wouldn’t be enough time with him.

Drew reached out, but didn’t feel anyone next to him. Wrinkling his brow, he turned his head. No, the other side of the bed was definitely empty. And cold.

He glanced around the room. Every trace of Josh and their night together had been removed. He looked over the edge of the bed. Yep, even the used condoms.

He sat up, brushed his dreads back from his face. Josh had just left? No goodbyes or anything? And why did that hurt a lot more than it should? He’d had other hookups sneak out the next morning. Hell, he’d even done it a couple times himself. But this felt different. He’d thought… well, he didn’t know what he’d thought. He just hadn’t had enough of Josh. Josh was… so much more than Drew had originally believed.

He staggered into the bathroom, a twinge in his ass. Yep, he’d walk funny for a day or two. A
pleasant reminder of the night before. He started the shower and sank underneath the hot spray.

Maybe he’d read things wrong, but he’d thought maybe Josh was interested in more than a night. He piled his dreads on top of his head, letting the hot water soothe sore muscles. He almost hated to soap up since it would wash Josh’s scent away. But if it was only a hookup, it was better to let it go anyway. After rinsing, he wrapped a towel around his waist, then wandered back into the bedroom.

That’s when he spotted the note on the far side of Josh’s pillow. It must have slipped off. Josh left a note. He snatched it up.

  Drew,

I had a great time last night and hoped maybe you’d like to have dinner with me after the conference ends tonight? I understand if you don’t, but I’d like to get to know you better. My number’s at the bottom of the page. Text me if you want to meet up.

  -Josh

Drew programmed Josh’s number into his phone. He needed to meet Laura soon, but he sent Josh a text agreeing to dinner later. Then, throwing on a pair of jeans and a plain T-shirt—no smartass sayings this time—he headed down to the lobby.

After breakfast there was supposed to be some kind of wrap-up session all the officers and conference participants would attend. Drew hadn’t planned on sticking around now that he’d asked all his questions, but since he was meeting Josh later, he’d definitely attend.

He searched the lobby for Laura. Didn’t see her. Walking toward the bar, he saw a couple cops, almost hidden in a nook surrounded by large plants. Josh was among them; his back was to Drew, but there was no mistaking those broad shoulders, that perfect ass.

There was no mistaking the cop who had been such a dick to him the first night either. Maybe ten years older than Josh, he had a vibe that just shouted “asshole,” and the scowl to go with it. Was he one of Josh’s friends?

Josh was pretty much in the closet, right? They hadn’t talked about it, but it seemed clear. Drew’s stomach turned over. He’d been down this road before and it hadn’t turned out well. Three years as Brian’s dirty little secret and then the guy got engaged as soon as they finished college. To a woman. Drew always said he’d never get involved with a completely closeted guy again.

And yet… he felt something with Josh he hadn’t in a long time. A connection. How real it was, he couldn’t say. But he liked the guy, lusted after him. Josh took his questions seriously. Treated him seriously. Like he was the writer—no, like the person—Drew wanted to be.

They’d talked for a long time last night between bouts of mind-blowing sex, but they hadn’t broached any dating questions. Obviously Josh had come out to his parents and it hadn’t gone well.

Drew didn’t expect Josh to shout it from the rooftops or anything. Especially not at work. Being a cop, Josh could put himself in danger if he came out. Drew knew that. Wasn’t so naïve as to think it wouldn’t cause problems. But he also didn’t want to be left feeling like Brian had made him feel.

  Disrespected.

  Unimportant.

It had taken him a long time to get over the rejection and self-loathing from that relationship. He wasn’t going back.

They’d have to figure it out, assuming they started dating. Now was definitely not the time. Since none of the cops had spotted him yet, he had begun to reverse course when he heard the asshole one say, “Enjoy your ride along yesterday, Olive?” and snicker, the sound echoing from the high ceilings. Drew stopped in his tracks.

“Funny, Martin. Always the joker,” Josh said.

“Thought the little fag would be perfect for you. About the only partner you’ll be able to get from now on.”

Drew stiffened. Josh had said he’d made some enemies, but this guy’s voice was scary. Like “if Josh was in a hospital on life support, this guy would pull the plug to charge his phone” kind of scary. Drew had seen that cruelty in his eyes after his panel, but he’d assumed he was just your run-of-the-mill bully.

“You ever get bored of hearing yourself speak?” Josh said, his voice calm. Too calm.

“You liked him, didn’t you?” Martin sneered. “Did he suck your dick, Olive? Or maybe you sucked his?”

“Bill, enough,” said another cop. “Leave it alone.” But the third one hooted, threw more slurs his way. Drew wanted to bust in there and tell those homophobic fuckers off. Except the tone they were using was deadly serious, and he wasn’t about to make things worse for Josh. Or more dangerous.

“Fuck you guys. That the best you got? You think I need some little queer to suck me off? Martin, I got your sister on speed dial,” Josh said, his tone so full of derision it made the hair on Drew’s nape stand up.

Drew’s mouth popped open. Some little queer. Wow.

Martin shoved Josh, but in a flash Josh twisted Martin’s hand behind his back and threw him up against a wall with a move straight from a Bruce Lee movie.

“Don’t screw with me, Martin. You’re not in the same league.”

The other cops tried to pull Josh off Martin, but Josh tightened his grip and Martin grunted in pain. That’s when Josh turned his head and saw him.

They locked eyes, and Josh’s widened in surprise. When Drew quirked his eyebrow, Josh didn’t say anything. Drew’s heart ached. How could he have been so foolish? No way this could work.

He spun on his heel and headed back into the lobby. He thought he heard Josh call his name, but he wasn’t sticking around; he needed to cool off before he said something he’d regret.

He ran into Laura at the lobby elevators. Her smile slid off her face when she saw him.

“Drew, what’s wrong?” She grabbed his arm, her slender fingers digging in.

  “Nothing. Ready for breakfast?”

THE CONFERENCE had officially ended an hour ago, but Josh still hadn’t found Drew. He hadn’t attended the wrap-up session, and Josh had already spent the last half hour trying to hunt him down while getting sidetracked by every participant who had a last-minute question for him. He’d go five steps and someone else would approach. Everyone but the one person he wanted to see.

He was already in deep shit with his department. Martin had reported his behavior, and the other assholes had probably backed up his account. Why the hell had he thought he could make a difference in law enforcement? He couldn’t even count on the guys in his unit to tell the truth. What was left? While he knew he’d face an official bullshit reprimand, one more nail in his coffin, he really didn’t care at the moment.

Drew had looked so… stunned. Hurt, maybe? He didn’t really know, his focus at the time being on Martin and the other cops. What did Drew expect him to do? Shout through the conference center that they’d slept together? Tell everyone he preferred dick?

  Not. Happening.

He had enough trouble with Martin. He didn’t need any more. He raked a hand through his hair. So why was he bothering with Drew? Obviously a bad idea.

But he continued to scan for him, at least wanting to explain. Then Drew could take it or leave it. Josh wasn’t going to be busting out any rainbow T-shirts anytime soon.

Finally, he made his way through thinning crowds, weaving around suitcases and bellhops. He jumped in an elevator, hit the button for Drew’s floor. When the doors opened, he jogged down the hall toward Drew’s room.

The door stood open, a cleaning cart in the hallway. He skirted the cart and stepped into the room. A maid looked up from changing the bedding.

“Do you know how long ago the occupant checked out?” he asked.

  She shook her head.

Great. Just great. He hurried back to the elevator, punched the Down button. When the elevator didn’t immediately arrive, he took the stairs two at a time.

Once in the lobby, he did a full sweep, even checking out the bar and the rooms they’d used for the conference. Nada.

Returning to the lobby, he watched as Drew sauntered in from the outside like he hadn’t a care in the world. Josh’s heart stuttered, then shifted into a hard rhythm. So Drew hadn’t le
ft as he’d feared. Josh expelled a breath that until that moment he hadn’t even been aware he’d been holding.

He frowned when he noticed Drew’s friend hanging on his arm. What was her name?

Laura. Ugh. He didn’t want her involved in this private discussion.

Drew was laughing until he looked up and saw Josh. Then the smile dimmed and Josh could swear he saw his eyes shutter. Laura looked his way too. She patted Drew on the arm, then disappeared into a crowd of people checking out.

Drew’s lips thinned. He didn’t approach. So that was how he was going to play it.

Josh closed the distance between them, his emotions simmering. Between the confrontation—and eventual fallout—with Martin and now Drew’s pissy attitude, he was ready to be done with this conference.

“I’ve been looking for you.” Josh kept his voice low.

“Why? I’m just some little queer. Why would you be looking for me?” Drew’s jaw was hard, his posture stiff.

“Can we go somewhere and talk?” Josh indicated one of the nooks off the lobby.

“No, I don’t think so. I don’t really have anything to say. You’ve pretty much said it all.”

Josh gnashed his teeth. “I don’t know what you thought was going to happen, but I’m not about to out myself to my department.”

Drew raised an eyebrow, and for once Josh didn’t find it cute. Annoying as hell, more like.

  “Who asked you to?”

“Cut it out, Drew. I saw how upset you were. I can’t help that I work in a field where homophobia is rampant.” It was tough to keep his voice low, but he managed.

“Actually, you could, but that’s neither here nor there. It has nothing to do—”

“Jesus. We fucked. One night. Now you want me to give up the job I worked my whole life for?” Josh knew his anger was irrational, and wasn’t just at Drew’s words, but stemmed from the last several months of misery he faced every day at his job. But it didn’t matter. Drew’s remarks had lit a match that ignited something inside of him, and the words just tumbled out.
