Made Men 1: Bad Timing
Bella finally finds two men she can give her heart, body, and soul to. The problem is bad timing, and if she doesn't follow the rules, her family will suffer. Her cousin got her in a jam, and now she must pay his debt and be the woman of a man capable of killing her family.
Little does she know, her own family has connections, too, and the men she gave her heart to may be her saving grace. One of her eight best friends has secrets revealed that aid in a rescue and, when the events come full circle, it's only the beginning of trouble and romance for her and her eight best friends.
Loving made men may not have been the women’s idea of the type of love they'd find, but they are each unique and have their own secrets and troubled pasts—and perhaps loving made men is more than just their destinies.

DEDICATION
Dear readers,
Thank you for purchasing this legal copy of Bad Timing.
Bella is special in so many ways. She is smart, sweet, and caring, and when it comes to friends and family, she would do anything to help them, even save them from danger.
Coming from a strong, Italian family with old traditions continued through modern times, the strength of family, loyalty, and respect shine through, even to Bella, who may not exactly know what’s happening right under her nose.
Being that sweet and caring has a negative effect on her life as danger discovers her weakness and uses it against her. When things get too rough and it seems like the end is near and her happiness a distant memory, that friendship, combined with the bonds of family and true love, help save Bella from a life of misery and pain.
May you enjoy the first book in my new miniseries. Happy reading.
Hugs,
Dixie

Prologue
“Is it true? Do you really think that Mateus and Major Fiorre will give up that part of the business? They helped develop that empire,” Trojan asked his boss Colosar Miantelli.
Colosar leaned back in the chair. “They are considering getting out of that side of the business. I personally think they lost their edge.”
“What the fuck do you mean? Those two served time in prison for murder. They’ve been a part of various organized crime gangs and, hell, no one even really knows what they’re capable of. That whole fucking Fiorre family is crazy.”
“This coming from a guy who beats the shit out of people for fun? Who slits throats, does hits, and makes sure I get my money?” Colosar said with a smirk and the arrogance that came with success. He was not a fully legit businessman himself. He had been pushing to get into the Fiorre organization for the last several years. He did some jobs and proved his capability to not get caught by cops or feds, but was it enough to be considered for this high of a position in the family? He was fucking counting on it so he could destroy them from within.
“Hey, I do what needs to be done. By the way, the last several shipments were a success, and I made Fedarro Fiorre aware of the success through some associates of his.”
“Good. In the interim, we sit back and see how else we can secure that position.”
“What about the chatter on Miguel Lupo being a candidate for the spot, too?”
Colosar licked his lower lip and narrowed his eyes. “I have a little plan for him. Something that will make Fedarro Fiorre see Miguel as a bad choice for the position.”
“You’re going to set him up?”
“In more ways than one. Let’s get this next shipment transferred to where it belongs and then plan the other. By the time I get into that family, start taking over that side of the business and developing my name, I’ll be leading my own organization, and the Fiorre family will be finished.”

Bella Marie Costanza was running late to work. There was
a big meeting starting in less than fifteen minutes, and she needed to drop her things off in her small office before heading upstairs to be part of it. She was never late, but an accident on Broadway caused bumper to bumper traffic and she as well as others on the commuter bus decided to get off and walk the remaining four blocks.
She was a nervous wreck, not knowing if her boss Leonard Williams would be there. There had been talk around the office that some big shot who was either sent by the owner of the company or someone associated with him would be stopping by this week to check on everything. All she knew about the owner of Mercury Industries was gossip. He was a millionaire, had a reputation for being a disciplinarian, and was stuck up. Women drooled over him and he was discrete with relationships but supposedly liked things rough in the bedroom. All hearsay. She was told by her good friend Melissa that Mr. Colosar Miantelli was not a man to lie to or disrespect. He was feared. It wasn’t her responsibility to be involved with this meeting and to gather more last minute info, but here she was.
As she rounded the corner of the office building, she caught sight of a dark limo out front and a guy who looked like a big guard standing there. He spoke on a cell phone and caught her eye. She hurriedly looked away. She was a city girl, bred and raised, plus Italian to boot. But she was reserved, quiet, and really only let loose with her eight girlfriends since elementary school who she trusted with everything—even the knowledge that she was a virgin. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to have sex, she was just afraid. Her sister’s experience in an abusive relationship had scarred Bella, as well.
She waved hello to Bill at security and then hurriedly rounded the corner of the hallway and smacked right into a large man in a suit. He stepped forward, only slightly off balance from her collision, and she gasped, dropped her things, and then grabbed on to him.
“Oh my God. I am soooo sorry. That was completely my fault,” she said to him and he narrowed his eyes at her, nearly in a glare initially, and then he looked her over and his hard, angry expression softened. She felt her heart racing and went from apologetic to completely shocked. He was a good looking older man. But shit, she was going to be late.
“You should be sorry. Where is the fire?” he scolded in a scary tone.
She gulped and then bent to grab her things. A man next to him, a big guy in a suit, helped her with a smirk. She looked at him and his eyes were on her chest. She glanced down, lifting the bag, and noticed her top button on her blouse was gaping slightly, enough to show off her abundant cleavage. She pressed it closed and grabbed her things.
“So sorry,” she said and started to pass them.
“Stop,” the good looking older guy in the designer suit stated firmly. She immediately froze in place, literally in place from his commanding tone. He looked her over, and she felt exposed. It was so strange. An eerie feeling washed over her.
“I asked you where the fire was?” he questioned, a scowl on his face. He had fine lines by his eyes that stood out over a tan complexion. He looked like he spent time in the sun, but also appeared to be important. This was a big building and there were a lot of wealthy businessmen around.
“Oh, no fire, just super late for a meeting.” She glanced at her watch. “I wasn’t supposed to be the one leading the meeting but my co-worker got sick, called me as I was on the commuter bus getting here, and then there was an accident on Broadway, and—”
He raised his hand up.
She stopped talking and heard the elevator open. She glanced at it and gave him a pleading look.
“I need to go.”
“Wait,” he said, but she totally freaked out. He was gorgeous, wealthy, commanding, but he made her feel uncomfortable, so she did what she normally did in cases like this. She took off.
She got into the elevator and the doors closed as she locked gazes with him, the door practically closing in his face, his expression ominous. She nibbled her bottom lip and worried about how that happened then she heard her cell phone. She glanced down.
Carrie was texting from bed, asking where she was. Jesus, the whole office was probably in a frenzy over this. It wasn’t Bella’s job to go to this meeting, never mind speak, even though she knew more than the entire office about designer clothing lines and picking the knockoffs at low prices as well as hunting down the most unique fads for the upcoming season. She loved going to the events that showcased top designers and then coming back and helping the creative department design knockoffs. She wished the half business trip/half pleasure trip to the Dominican Republic was this week.
The elevator doors opened and sure enough, before she even made it into the office, Melissa was standing there.
“Oh God, they are making me nuts,” Melissa stated, and Bella shook her head.
“Making you nuts? Carrie is texting me from bed. I was halfway here when she called to ask me to cover the meeting and, Jesus, I have five minutes to get upstairs.” She started handing her things to Melissa and Susan while Joyce handed her folders and info sheets with her comparison pictures and designs.
“Okay, you will do great. You know more than Carrie and all of us combined, and Carrie knows that. That’s why she chose you,” Melissa said.
“Oh shit,” Joyce stated as Melissa fixed Bella’s hair and gave her a thumbs up.
“What?” Bella asked as she jumped back into the elevator. Joyce stood by Melissa holding her cell phone, glancing at it, then back at Bella.
“Colosar Miantelli is going to be at the meeting. He just arrived.”
The doors closed and Bella felt her mouth gape open.
This was just her luck. Now she felt even more nervous and started to go over the information in her head on the new designs being worked on and her upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic. Two of the days would be dedicated to a fashion show of new designer swimwear on the beach. She even got passes for her friends, but she had a VIP pass.
She could do this. She could meet the owner of the company for the first time ever and show him how professional and put together she really was. She straightened her shoulders, and as the doors opened, she saw several men and women from the design department, Kelly from the creative department, and a few others. The place was buzzing in whispers when Kelly caught her eyes. She grabbed her arm.
“Did you hear? Colosar Miantelli is here. He is so hot and scary at the same time. Jesus, where is Carrie?”
“I’m covering for her. She’s sick in bed.”
“She probably caught wind of Colosar coming here, the chicken shit. Good luck. He’s not very friendly and is filled with arrogance. Everyone fears the man, he is such a prick. Good looking and rich, but scary.”
“Well, all I can do is my best. I was thrown into this situation so whatever happens, happens.”
As they all filtered into the room, about twelve people, someone grabbed her arm and turned her. It was her boss, Leonard.
“I can’t believe Carrie is sick. You can handle this, right?”
“Yes, Leonard, it will be just—”
Her eyes widened and the man who she plowed into downstairs by the elevator was standing there staring at her. His angry expression turned to a grin and she lowered her eyes immediately. It all came together at once and her face flushed, her belly ached.
“Please tell me that the man behind you is not Colosar Miantelli,” she whispered to Leonard, but then the man cleared his throat and Leonard turned around.
“Mr. Miantelli, it’s great that you will be joining us today,” he said and reached his hand out for Colosar Miantelli to shake. He stared at Leonard’s hand, and just as Leonard was about to pull back, he shook his hand. But his eyes were on Bella.
“This is Bella Costanza, she is part of the design department. She’ll be speaking today about updates.”
He squinted at her and held her gaze. The man was dressed to kill. His dark eyes, dark hair, and tan complexion made him appear lethal.
“We bumped into one another downstairs,” he said to her, accentuating th
e word “bumped,” and reached out his hand for her to shake. She hesitated as he said the words and she stared at him, then quickly shook his hand. His eyes blinked and he stepped closer, causing Leonard to move to the right and out of the way.
“I hope your presentation is more professional than your ability to introduce yourself and have a conversation with a man you so rudely plowed into,” he said to her as if reprimanding her because she hadn’t stayed to chit chat with him downstairs.
“I apologized for bumping into you sir,” she said to him firmly.
“Yet you rudely took off and let the elevator door nearly slam in my face. We will see how this meeting goes. Shall we?” he said, ending the conversation as if he was in complete control. She walked ahead of him, could feel his eyes upon her, and then felt everyone else’s eyes staring, too. Jesus, what a fucking nightmare, and what was with his comment about seeing how the meeting went? Was that a threat to her job? What an A-hole.

Colosar Miantelli took a seat by the corner of the table where he could keep his eyes on everyone and read them. He was a good judge of character and always figured out quickly the weaknesses of potential prey. He came here today to decide whether this company was worth keeping or selling off. He had other motives, as well, and what were the chances that the woman he had heard about would bump right into him? The attraction was instant, which made his plan of action seem more doable. Perhaps his whole scheme of plans would work in his favor and Fedarro Fiorre would consider Colosar for taking over his cousins’ positions in the organization. With the fact that Colosar had inside information on a competing business and group, the Costanza family, it would all come together nicely.
