“That plus the fact that there’s no sign of either parent will prove they abandoned her,” Deke stated. “Then since Marnie knows us, it might go a long way toward her placing Destiny with you.”

Cassie shook her head. “But Marnie can’t place her with them, they aren’t married.”

“Not yet, but Quinn wants a wedding in two weeks,” Sam informed her with a wicked grin on his face.”

Cassie wasn’t surprised. In fact, she laughed out loud and clapped her hands together. “Well, it’s about freakin time!” She glanced over to Quinn. “So he gave you two weeks huh?”

Quinn shook her head. “No, I gave him two weeks.”

Cassie nodded. “Good for you girl. Do I want to know the details?”

Quinn turned to Chance and asked, “How did you put it? Oh yeah, he said, ‘This wasn’t how I wanted to ask you, especially in front of your damn father and brother but I know you want that little girl. And I want you. Us getting married give us both what we want. Besides, I’ve kind of gotten used to having her around. I think between the two of us we can give her a good home.’ ”

Cassie looked stunned for a moment then burst out laughing. When her laughter faded to giggles, she looked at Chance and shook her head. “You are lucky to be alive at this point. That has got to be the least romantic proposal I’ve ever heard.”

Chance shrugged. “She said yes, so I don’t think I did so bad. And I plan to give her everything she wants so what’s the down side?”

Quinn couldn’t keep it up as she laughed and admitted, “Last night he gave me a bit more of a romantic proposal. It-it was very…” She bit at her lip. “Um…romantic.

  Chance froze in his seat.

“Oh, yeah?” Sam looked over at him. Steel in his eyes.

Chance shrugged. “I had the ring all ready. After what happened here yesterday, I refused to wait any longer.”

Sam gave him a narrow eyed look.

“Well, holy fuck!” Mountain chimed in finally. “I thought you would never do it!”

Quinn looked between the men and her face went pink.

Deke looked confused. “What are you all talking about?”

Chance started to laugh. “Well, I made a vow when I knew Quinn was the woman for me. To not be like…” He looked over at Bones. “Most men. Most Bikers, especially. So while we have been dating for six months…We never…”

Quinn put her face into his chest with an embarrassed groan.

Sam glared at Chance and shook his head.

“WHAT?” Cassie stared at the couple. “You Never?”

Deke swallowed heavily. “For six months?” He looked stunned.

Mountain laughed. “See? I’m not the only one who was in disbelief!” He grinned at his kid brother.

  Chance looked a bit uncomfortable.

  The men were laughing now.

Reva, Gator and their kids came in just then and Cassie called out to her, “Reva, can you do a wedding in two weeks?”

Reva glanced at Gator and they walked over to the table. “A wedding? Who’s getting married?”

Quinn held up her hand and the ring caught everyone’s attention. “I guess that would be me.”

Gator broke out into a huge grin. “Well, it’s about damn time.”

Chance shrugged. “What can I say? She’s his daughter. I had to be very careful.” He motioned toward Sam

Gator laughed. “I heard that man. I heard that.” He chuckled.

“So did I,” Sam commented with a frown. “Maybe you don’t deserve my blessing after all.”

“Old man, I wasn’t asking for your blessing,” Chance informed him. “I got the girl and believe it or not, that’s all I need.”

“Humph,” Sam groused as he crossed his arms over his chest.

  Everyone there laughed.

  CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

The last two weeks flew by. Every day had been busy with wedding plans and meetings with DSS. The day Mona died, they got in touch with Marnie. They explained that Mona had come to Redemption House and abandoned her daughter. Cassie showed her the paperwork from Mona’s visit.

Then Quinn told her that she wanted the little girl. Marnie brought up the fact that she wasn’t listed as a foster parent and that it would be hard to get clearance for a single woman to become a foster parent.

That’s when Quinn told her that she and Chance were getting married and that they wanted to adopt Destiny and become a family. Marnie was happy about that but more so because she really liked Quinn and wanted nothing but the best for her. She said she would take it all to the local branch and recommend it. Then see what they said.

Every night, Quinn spent in Chance’s arms. They had moved back to her apartment in town and taken Destiny with them.

Marnie had been working with the police trying to track down her parents or any other family but so far, they hadn’t found anything or any sign of them. She set up the paperwork and it was all good to go, she informed them.

The morning of her wedding, Quinn woke up before the sun did. She’d wanted Chance to stay home last night like the groom was supposed to do but he refused to leave her alone. He’s said he’d done that for six months, so now it was on. She secretly loved the fact that he was here in bed beside her.

Destiny had her own room now and she seemed to be doing so much better. She still had moments where she zoned everything and everyone out but those moments were becoming far and few.

Quinn snuggled deeper into Chance’s arms. She felt warm and safe with him.

“Good morning,” Chance murmured. His voice was low and husky.

  “Morning,” Quinn whispered.

“Are you ready to get married today?” Chance asked as he kissed the back of her neck.

  “Are you?” she whispered back.

  “Oh, yeah,” Chance assured her.

  “That’s a good.”

“Oh, why is that?” he asked.

“Do you remember when I told you I wanted four kids?”

  “Yeah,” Chance answered.

“Well, I think the first one is coming sooner than we thought.” Quinn hid her face in the pillow. She wasn’t sure she wanted to see the look on his face.

Chance froze. Then carefully turning her to face him, he gazed down at her. Her eyes were still closed but he didn’t mind. He kissed her gently nibbling on her lips. When he felt her respond he whispered, “Look at me woman.”

Quinn opened her eyes and stared at him.

“Are you telling me we’re going to have a baby?”

Quinn nodded. “I-I think it was from our first time?”

He chuckled. ‘Well, damn. First time was the charm? Well then, it’s a good thing we’re getting married today.”

  “You aren’t mad?”

“What is there to be mad about sweetheart?” Chance frowned. “I’m glad it happened. Remember my proposal that night?”

“Yes…” She flushed. “So you’re glad?” Quinn was surprised. “But why?”

Chance leaned closer. “I love you so much and this marriage is something I want more than anything else. The baby? That just sweetens the pot. We got Destiny and a new baby coming. It doesn’t get better than this right here, right now.”

“It could get better,” Quinn teased.

“Oh, yeah?” Chance grinned. “How could it get better than this?”

Quinn arched toward him grinding her crotch into his. “I can think of one way.”

Chance grabbed her hips and ground into her. “Oh yeah, so can I.” He began nibbling on her neck. They were skin to skin so there was nothing to stop them. Chance’s hands dropped down to her breasts and he cupped the weight of them in his hands. His fingers flicked her hardening nipples and she groaned.

Chance knew she was wet he could feel the dampness on his cock. But he wanted her wetter. He wanted her crazy with desire. He wanted to hear her beg. He leaned down and suckled her nipples, rolling the hard tips with his tongue.

  He dropped his hand
down sliding past her belly to her core. She opened her legs for him and Chance could feel how damp she was. But today that wasn’t good enough. He stroked her and flicked her clit.

Quinn shook with neediness but she wasn’t nearly ready yet.

His fingers rimmed her hole and she moved trying to get him inside her. Chance’s lips hovered over her neck. He knew there was one place on her neck that drove her crazy and that’s where he was going. He sucked her ear lobe into his mouth. Then he dropped his mouth down to the spot where her neck met her shoulders. He began nibbling and sucking, then scarping her skin with his teeth and he felt the pulse in her neck start thumping.

Inhaling the scent of her arousal, he groaned and his mouth watered. His cock hurt it was so hard. His fingers slipped inside her and he felt her ripe body tighten. Groaning, he delved further into her willing hole. The more he pushed the wetter she became. Then he couldn’t take it any longer. He pulled his fingers out and plunged his cock deep within her.

Quinn wrapped her legs around his waist and wouldn’t let him go.

He rammed into her time and time again. With each stroke, they both rushed toward that crest. The edge of bliss. “Oh yeah,” Quinn urged. “God, please don’t stop. Harder, harder.” She whimpered.

Chance went deeper and faster until he couldn’t hold back anymore. “I’m going to come. I hope you’re ready.”

“Yesss…” Quinn screamed softly as her body exploded over the edge. She grasped his arms and dug into his skin with her fingernails.

Chance stroked into her again and again then finally he held himself deep inside her body. Sweat rolled down his face that he hadn’t noticed before. The scent of their sex overpowered the rest of the room and Chance had to smile as he rolled off of her.

Neither one of them moved as they recovered.

“Wow. That was awesome,” she exclaimed.

“Yup that was the end of an era,” Chance quipped.

Quinn got up on her elbows. “The end of an era? What is that supposed to mean?”

“That was the last time we make love as single people. Tonight when we make love, we’ll be husband and wife. Today, we were two and later we’ll be one.”

Tears welled in Quinn’s eyes. She just stared at him for a moment then she leaned toward him and brushed his lips with hers. “That was so beautiful. I never thought of it quite that way before.”

Chance laid back and brushed a strand of hair from her face. “Can I tell you something?”

  Quinn nodded.

“I remember the day we met.” His words were low and soft spoken. “When you walked into the room my heart almost stopped. It was shortly after you met Sam for the first time. You were pale and weak and I so wanted to wrap my arms around you and protect you until you felt better. But I couldn’t do that. I had to watch as you struggled to understand this new world you found yourself in. I could see the MC world scared you. You didn’t understand it. You got a look in your eyes when you looked at Deke and Sam that said you wanted to know them but you were afraid to let yourself. Then you looked at me and that’s all it took. You suddenly became my whole world.”

“Really?” Quinn whispered. “Because that’s not how I remembered it. I remember you were mean to me. You wanted nothing to do with me.”

Chance shook his head. “It was only one last battle with myself. I knew in my heart you were the one woman I would treasure forever but I was too stubborn to admit it. Then I just couldn’t help myself anymore. I couldn’t deny it. I couldn’t deny you. But I was damn sure going to show you that we weren’t all bad.”

Quinn giggled. “You did too. I couldn’t believe a man could…be celibate for so long.”

“It wasn’t easy. I jacked off to your image many times.”

Quinn gasped and sat up. “Really?”

He nodded with a huge grin on his face. “Don’t get too much of an ego there girl. But yes, it wasn’t as easy as I pretended.”

She laughed as she settled down and snuggled into his embrace. “Would you like to know my first thoughts when I saw you?”

  Chance nodded.

“Well, like you said, when we first met I was just recovering from an illness. My father and brother brought me here when I fought it all the way. I hated Sam all my life. He says he stayed away because my mother asked him to, but I couldn’t believe that. Not when I knew, she loved him. But then I got to know him and Deke. I got to see what kind of men they really were. They were men I could respect. Then I met you and your brothers. You were the one man I’d been waiting to meet my whole life. You were tall and strong and when I first saw you, you took my breath away. I saw in you a future I could scarcely believe in. When I first looked at you, I saw you holding our baby in my mind. A little boy with violet eyes and silver blonde hair.”

Chance moved his hand to cover her belly. “So our child is a son then?”

Quinn closed her eyes. “I don’t know. I don’t know if what I saw was real or not but you looked down on that child with such a look of love in your eyes that I was jealous. I was jealous of a child.” She sobbed. “I was jealous because I wanted you to look at me that way.”

“Oh sweetheart, I do look at you that way and if that child is mine it is your child too.” Chance touched her forehead with his. “Now my sweet lady, it’s time to get up and prepare yourself for the day.” He slapped her thigh. “We have a wedding to get to. I want my child born with his or her proper name.”

Quinn smiled. “Let’s get married then.”

Three hours later, they stood in front of an altar in the clubhouse. Deacon stood before the entire MC and said the words that would unite them in marriage.

Sam, Deke and Charlie stood behind her while Mountain, Byron, Bowie and Dante stood behind Chance.

Destiny stood with Cassie and her children solemnly watching the ceremony. When Quinn and Chance shared a kiss, Destiny just stared at them.

When the kiss ended, they turned to everyone and Quinn caught her glance. Quinn’s smile widened and she held out her hand for Destiny.

The Little girl hesitated then took that first step. Then she took another and another until she stood in front of Quinn and Chance.

Chance bent over and picked her up. When he stood up Quinn wrapped her arms around them both.

When Quinn leaned closer, Destiny spoke for the first time as she asked a simple question, “Are you my new mommy and daddy now?”

Quinn looked at Chance and they both had tears in their eyes. It was Chance that answered, “Yeah baby girl, we’re your mommy and daddy if you want us to be.”

Destiny turned teary eyes to him. “Yes please,” she whispered.

  K.J. Dahlen

Author of the bestselling Bratva Brothers Series & The Satan Spawn MC Series…

I live in a small town (population495) in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.

I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
