“Well you figured wrong and my name is Trey, don’t call me other. And like I said just stay away from me and we’ll be good. I know you're on the list but avoid me as much as you can. Now leave and do have a nice night.” She turned her back to him and stalked away pissed, out of his sight. He walked out but waited around the corner he had a feeling she would go for a run and he wanted to watch. Her words did cut but he saw the look in her eyes that told him she was only trying to defend herself by pissing him off. He did something to her that made her want to defend herself with him and also needing to stay away from him. He had no clue what it could be but he needed to know what it was so he could change it.

She was fuming something she hasn’t done since a few guy fights she lost back in high school. She needed a good run to settle her ticked off nerves. She flew out the back door and headed off.

He followed without her notice. When she did a roundabout turn and started heading back in his direction he ducked behind a truck just in time. ‘She was headed back to her shop instead of home,’ he thought. ‘Maybe the run didn’t do her any good.’ He veered off to his road and went home. He was pissed at himself, how could he have not realized that it would make her think he though her weak. It made since he just wished he thought off it before he reacted. His plan was completely off track and he couldn’t fall asleep because of it. How would he make her his if she wanted him to avoid her. Yes, he would give her what she asked but not for long.

The run took her mind off it for a little while but when she stopped it all hit her at once. He wanted other men to respect her, he wanted to stand up for her and make that guy give her respect. No guy has ever done that for her and she yelled at him for it. It was like he was just trying to give her a break, he didn’t really believe that she couldn’t handle herself he just wanted to help. Goddess she was a mess with this guy. ‘She just needed another fight that was all,’ she thought as she finally fell asleep after lying in bed for three hours completely awake debating on what obstacle to take. ‘Would he go away? Did she want him to?’ She knew there was something different about him but was she willing to find out? She threw it all out of her mind, in all honesty the guy just pissed her off and this test was just ridiculous.

  Chapter Four:

  The Days Go On

‘Life’s good, my life’s good and it will stay that way,’ she thought while brushing her hair. ‘He’ll stay away, my control will be set back to normal mode and life will stay good.’ She smiled and nodded to herself in the mirror than left for school in her car. It’s only a few miles from where she lived but the drive in the morning was needed. She only liked to run at night where less people saw her and the ones that did feared her. Doing what she does when she runs during the day only seemed weird. She arrived at school, went to her classes, lunch with the girls at Tammy’s Tea Shack & Coffee House than went off to meet up with the ones she trains for a well needed training session. The time changed due to school and the new bloods. She could have her shop open at night when most people wanted the tats, it worked out good.

He was miserable when he woke; so much so that he didn’t even bother to get out of bed. ‘How am I supposed to stay away from her when already I just want to go to her?’ He figured he was better off just staying home for the day; so he did. Talk about wallowing in his own pity, it was something he never did. This women was changing him and he didn’t think it was for the better at this point. By noon he questioned himself, “Really? You’re held up in your room pouting over a girl, what are you thinking?” He jumped from bed, got ready, pulled out his books and went to racking his brain. ‘The plan will stay the same, the enhanced plan,’ he thought to himself. He will get smarter, train harder and win her over. This staying away from her will only do him some good. He will prepare until he stopped staying away from her.

It’s a ten minuet run from the college to the city park where they trained even in the winter. Her philosophy was if you could fight with boots and heavy jackets on in the snow then you could fight anytime. It was still summer turning into fall and by the time winter came the new girls would have a hands up on winter. It really did work out well for them. They all waited three minutes past the time to meet then Trey yells, “Let’s run!” She did a few stunts but not in the amount she did at night. She just wanted to give the new girls something of a sight.

The place they trained was next to a pond at the back edge of the city park. It’s surrounded by the most trees and the reason she picked it; less prying eyes. When they arrived she let them all catch their breaths for a minute before she began, “Alright new bloods, I am going to run the elders threw some drills for you to watch than you’ll do them after.”

“Elders, really Trey?” Jos piped in.

  “Absolutely fitting right?” Trey laughed.

“You’re a riot!” Jos said sarcastically chuckling.

“Just get to it. Woman!” Trey was happy, this was her place for it. New bloods to train, more women to follow her movement and the numbers that joined were greater than she expected; she was completely thrilled. The ‘elders’ ran the drills than the new blood followed with less skill. ‘Most will do well,’ Trey thought. “Jos, Pay, show the new women a good spar.”

“Ah, why me?” Pay wined. “I want to talk.”

“You can gossip in ten minutes, don’t worry information won’t go far.” Jocelyn said while jabbing an elbow to Payton’s ribs, then turned to Trey, “So a full go 'round than?”

“Yea, just don’t hurt each other to bad, we have more to do.” Trey let the girls watch as she put a new blood with an elder to spar after. The left over elders got to spar or run drills together. She picked a new blood who she thought would have the hardest time with fighting and grouped up with her. She would train with all of them just like she had with the elders but she liked to start from the bottom and work her way up. She wanted them all equals. The women fights are the ones that brought in the big bucks. Being equals they gave a better show, matched punch for punch. Most of them always made it to the ten minuet mark and the fight would be called a fair break; pretty much a tie. Everyone would get a percent of their money back instead of having big winners but people bet bigger with the girl fights, there for leaving more money for the fighters and her, plus the pack; she did pay them. A quick knock out didn’t entertain and entertaining and unsure bids is what made the money. Oh and more money-dropping guys showed up to watch two chic’s brawl it out. Well Treys kind of fighting they did.

It wasn’t just boxing or kick boxing not even really street fighting. Nor was it any one kind of martial arts, it was like all in one, whatever worked best for the individual person at the time of a swing; survival instincts. No biting, scratching shit but natural fight instincts. She would see the strengths and weaknesses of each girl and work with them to use the weaknesses to better themselves and tell them to only fall back on their strengths when need be, it made for a better fighter and was good at surprising the opponent.

“Okay, now that you ladies have a taste, there is a few things that need to be said. First and for most; I ask that you demand respect from men. We are to fight them yes, as a way of showing them that we should be recognized as strong. But It is not our only strength. We as women need to stand up for ourselves in every way possible. I set fights with women against men not because we are stronger but because we can fight smarter. Brains with beauty can beat all...”

“Oh, oh and to take a hit by a man is about control,” Jos piped in and Trey shook her head with a smile. “Yes! Jos is right, I’ll elaborate. Taking a hit is about controlling your pain. Working through it in a mind over matter way. If you think it hurts; it will hurt, if you think it will fuel your fire; it will fuel your fire, or if you think it’s pleasurable than that it is. But it is more about how smart you are and how you use your knowledge. If you want it to fuel your fire you can’t get too pissed or the anger will control you and you will misstep, if you think it pleasurable you wil
l get lost in seduction and the man in front of you fighting, you will want him to touch you, next thing you know you’re on your back knocked out. You have to keep perfect balance with your control and your smarts. Being smart is the key to everything. So pull as much knowledge in school and life into you. The more you know, the more you fill and work your brain, the better you will be. Being smart enough to avoid blows from a physically stronger man is the key. Watch people move, watch people fight, it will strengthen you.”

“Now to get back on track, Jos. It is not only physical strength that makes you strong. We might be standing tall in these fights with men but it is not the only way to earn respect. When was a women ever president? Never, only a first lady. Why? Because men have always ruled, the kicker; those men where only as good as the women who stood behind them. It’s time men realized we can stand alone, we can control our feelings enough to control an empire because we are smart. I’m not doing this to control an empire, I’m doing this to get men to respect us and see that we don’t need to stand behind them, we can stand next to them or alone without them.”

“My purpose with you all is to have you realize this and make the man you want to be with know it. If they cannot respect you enough to have you stand next to them when you want and stand alone when you need to than they are not worth being with. Oh, and every man you encounter make them give you the respect too. I’m here to help in every way whether it be with training, guys or just to vent. I want to see more women stand tall is all. I want to see you guys be in control of every aspect of your lives because if it is not you with the control who would it be? Puppets on strings is no way to be. Demand the respect that you deserve and only you can create the amount you deserve. You control it with every choice you make.” Trey gestured to Jos to take over.

“So, we will be meeting every day except Saturday and Sunday for the next two weeks than we will drop training down to just a couple days a week. When you get a text for fight night, show up within the hour, no later, more will be discussed there because we do not talk about those nights other than on those nights. Are we good with that?” Everyone gave their nods and yea’s. “Good, we run back and meet here at the same time tomorrow, try splitting up or taking different routes so that it is not a big group running to and from here. Thanks ladies, have fun!”

“Back to the shop then?” Jocelyn asks Trey and Gwen.

“Ah, my car is at the school, I’ll just walk in tomorrow. Let’s go!”

“You gonna show us some of that crazy stuff you do?” Jos asks.

“What, you haven’t been working on it?”

“Oh, I have but I just love to watch you do it! You’re better at it!” Jocelyn’s tone was one of admiration, sarcastically.

“Truly you are an ass Jos!” Trey laughed.

“No, you both are asses! I’m heading back to the school than I’ll be over, do you want me to grab your car?”

“You just want to drive my bad ass car, Gwen!” Trey threw the keys to her smiling than turned to Jos and smacked her upside the back of the head, yelling as she ran, “Tag, you’re it!”

  “Smart ass!"

Trey enjoyed the run to the shop. She was in complete control today. It took her a minuet to gather herself from him this morning but he soon faded into the background noise. Out of sight, out of mind was working but he still was present in the back of her head and would jump to the front only a half a minute at a time. She would quickly put him back in his place and let the day go on.

With his epiphany that staying away would do him some good, he text Dane. Meet me at the gym when you can, than he readied himself and off he went. He worked himself harder than he ever has. He needed to be ready when that text came in even if he wouldn’t fight the first time. He needed the fight and hoped that his name was close to one on this so called list he heard about. “Hey man, what’s going on?” Dane said when he first walked in.

“I need a fight, a good one. They got my number from me.”

“Yeah, me to. Do you think you’ll be on the list?”

“I hope so. In the meantime let’s spar.” They went to it for a good ten minutes before Dane stopped him.

“Seriously, you’re taking it a bit hard on me and when the hell are you gonna stop? I’m dying here!”

“Sorry, I just gotta be good.”

“You are good, you’ve been fighting your whole life.”

“I know but still. What do ya say we run back to the house, get ready and go to a bar?”

“Sounds a hell of a lot better than you kicking my ass for longer!” Dane laughed and they ducked out. Ayden sprinted while Dane fell behind. He reached the house feeling finer than he was this morning. He managed to keep Trey far in the back of his mind enough to concentrate on the task at hand; being better.

They pulled up bar stools and order a shot and a beer from a black haired beauty. Ayden liked the way she looked, she had survivor eyes and strength in her stance. She would be a hard one to get and he didn’t need the challenge. With that thought, Treys eyes flashed in his mind. ‘Goddess, I can’t even check a girl out without thoughts of her,’ he thought shaking his head in disbelief. Dane and him traded thoughts on a few girls that walked by and talked about how school was going. While doing so two chics approached him and he turned them both down. “Really, Ayden! You’re turning down easy girls now?”

“I just have more important things to do and right now I’m gonna have a few drinks with my buddy than go home, sleep and get up to go to school, study and train.”

“Alright man, as you wish! What else is up?” They went on hanging out and drinking beers for a while.

“I’m going crazy without working, I’m gonna need a job.”

“Can you bartend?” The beauty behind the bar asks.

“I know enough drinks, been at a lot of bars, I’m sure I could pick it up quick.” Ayden said a bit shocked at the automatic response to his dilemma.

“Get behind the bar, I’ll use it as an interview.” He walked around and started taking the orders of customers and was having a good time doing so. He did pick it up quick and he did impress the beauty enough to get the job. He was glad he didn’t try to hit on her. By the end of the night he was feeling better than fine and leaving with some chic that didn’t even bother to say a thing to him, she just grabbed his hand as he was walking out and walked him to her car than into her house. He was feeling good when he passed out back at his place.

The next few days went on about the same for them both. They did not cross paths at school even though he walked past where he saw her at lunch under the tree a few days back. He didn’t go to her shop and was without the tat pain he could have used, but he did agree to give her some space even if she wasn’t aware of it. He went to school, studied, trained, ran as much as he could the way she ran and was at the bar working or drinking.

She went to school, studied, trained the girls, went to the shop to work and ran. If he was as good as Pay said he was than she would have to build her strength, she had a feeling she was going to need it because he held himself with true confidence. With that thought she needed a fight, yes he would be there and she hasn’t seen him in four days which did her some good but a fight would be better at keeping her on her toes. She didn’t like setting a fight on a Friday, less would show up and the ones that did were drunk but she called the fraternity house that was most likely already having a party to see if the place was good for the time and sent out the text tree anyway.

  Comhrac ~ 12 ~ FH2 ~ FG & PR ~ DM & TL ~ BK & TS

No new blood was on the list yet and it would be the first fight they attended so the safest place she picked; Fraternity House 2. It was pretty much guarded from the cops, the warning to stop the fight and just party would come in way before they showed up. It’s always a perfect cover, they were always partying. She set up to give the last guy she fought his rematch figuring, ‘Hell, why not?’ Gwen text her back asking, What the hell, Trey? Her only response was, Its good, mom
!!!

That first text finally came in while he was at the bar and working to boot. He begged the other bartender that was just hanging out there to fill in for the night. He was sure he was going to be late and that was something he could not do. He grabbed Dane and flew to the spot the fight would take place. He knew he wasn't on the list tonight but to see the fights would do him some good. When he arrived he was glorified, he saw the ring, the people and then looked up at Trey. This was him all the way, he had to be a part of this greatness.

She sighted Ayden who winked at her while she was giving her starting spiel. It didn’t catch her up but she did end her speech shortly after. Instead of standing close to the fights, she sat where she was standing and let the feel of the crowd around her engulf her mind, their amped up energy fueled her drive. She stood to walk to the ring and smirked at the guy in front of her knowing she gave him what he wanted but would not give him all of it; he would not win. And she would whisper, ‘Meet me by my shop,’ this time because she needed that as much as she needed the fight. She did not give the best show like last time, she only took him down quick to get on with it. Or was it to impress Ayden? She threw that thought out quicker than any. Denying the thought to stay for long.
