Anastasia Romanov (Sequel)

So I stared and craved.
Very slenderly fashioned, and dressed entirely in red velvet, trimmed with some unfamiliar oyster-colored fur, legs, hands, and body, no one ever had a mouth like that, no one had those lovely legs, and no one had eyes which looked as if they had been fished from the bottom of the arctic sea.
No one but her.
At last, coming to a stop, I cleared my throat. She turned around, and I stared back, trembled, turned hot and then cold. I made a curtsy with the utmost grace of a princess, though I was princess no more. The one before me was a true one, and how I longed to hurl myself through the pollen-filled air and gathered that lovely form.
I smiled and she smiled back.
What was love before that? What had I craved, I wondered in the rush of emotion, until now? As I looked at that face, the thickness of my blood melted, the ice turned to wine in my veins, and now I felt as if I was drunk with joy.
"Hello, Anastasia," she said, smiling like a dawn sun at me. "Would you have the goodness to bring back my little friend?"
The waters kept flowing and the birds kept singing. Spring had broken over the hard wintry land, giving new life to the earth after the frostbitten cold.
"With all the pleasure in the world, my love," I said and smiled back, allowing the light of those bright violet eyes to pierce my heart.
Valerina stood and walked forward. A small beam still etched on her face.
"Her leg was injured by a fox, and I've been searching for her," she said and came to pat the cottony creature that curled up in my arms.
"So it's a girl then?" I said, not trying to hide my surprise. A bell-like laughed issued from the former huntress.
"You never learned, Anastasia," she said and I giggled back. Then I put an arm around her waist, gathering her to me, remembering the days that had passed by like a dream.
Vale was revived not by the touch of miracle but the knowledge of science and technology. Thanks to a formula from the infamous stimulant gas and my vampire blood.
I remembered with a heavy heart, how I had watched her through the tube floating like a fetus in the womb. How I waited for her until days turned to weeks and months.
But the moment, she opened those bright eyes, nothing else mattered. Though blue no more, they still held the same love as they rested on me.
I looked at Valerina as she was stroking the animal soft as snow. Her cheeks, like cherries against alabaster, eyes like the sea when you look down from a great height.
"I've just found a fox dense," she said, lifting her head to me again. "Do you want to see it?"
Before I could speak, she led me by the hand towards the pile of rocks near the stream.
Since now we would spend the rest of our days, marveling at the change of seasons, every day felt nothing sort of an adventure.
Sometimes, hot with love, we would throw ourselves down near a solitary lake, where the ground was still covered in snow, and wrapped ourselves in our great fur cloaks.
I would take her in my arms, began our sighs of delights and love. When the ecstasy was over, and we lay limb in a blissful swoon on the ice, we would whisper how much one meant to the other. Sometimes I wondered out loud why the ice did not melt with our heat after we made love, making Valerina laugh.
She would turn once more in my arms, giving me for love's sake, one more kiss and another joy. Still entangled in passion, we would talk of everything, of the flowers, of the mountains, of the moon, and of the stars. Even a leaf was not too small for our conversation, and nothing was too great. There was no more fighting and killing, love was all there was to make in the world.
Vale pulled me down with her as she knelt to the ground.
"Look," she whispered softly. "There are three cubs sleeping in there."
"You're not a huntress anymore," I said. "Why are you always out here in the wood and not with me?"
Vale turned to me with a look.
"I'm not hunting them, Anastasia," she said. "I'm rescuing them."
"Well, looks like someone is treading a different path after all," I said with a smile. "I'm not surprised that our property is now laden with wildlife."
Valerina gave me a shoulder nudge, and I giggled. We rose again, and I reached out with my free hand to hold hers.
"Let me guess,” I said, “with the foxes around, this little lass might have to stay with us for a while, no?"
Valerina smiled.
"I know you always have a soft spot for bunnies," she said.
"Yes, but you have the softest spot, and I can show you where it is," I said, gazing at her with a grin.
"Show me then," she said sheepishly.
"Here." I put her palm against my beating heart. "The whole thing is for you."
A familiar blush formed on her face, and I was pleased to see it again like it was our meeting for the first time.
Her eyes gleamed into mine. After a moment, she leaned forward and kissed my cheek. I turned my head and captured her lips with my own, deepening the kiss with my hand behind her neck and my tongue in her mouth.
Until the throbbing came, and Valerina had to pull away abruptly.
"We need to go back," she said, almost in an urgent tone. Her face blushed hot against mine.
"Now? Why?" I said, still breathless from the kiss. “We can just...”
But she gave me a look then glanced at the bunny in my arm.
“Have a little decency, Anastasia,” she said.
"Oh!" I nodded in understanding. "Oh yes, I think we do need to go."
