They walked into the living room, where Jenny and her biological father were going through her scrapbook.
“Good news,” Greg announced. “Your plan worked. We’re getting married as soon as we can make arrangements.”
“A fall wedding right here in Ranger Springs, at Bretford House,” Carole said, looking into the eyes of the man she loved. “This time, I want all my family to be there with me. I want the whole world to know.”
“Cool,” Jenny responded, looking up. “Can Puff be the ring bearer? After all, he’s the one who got you guys together in the first place.”
“We’ll talk about it,” Greg said.
“That’s a very father-like answer,” Jenny replied, grinning, running over to give him a hug.
Carole felt joy bubble up inside her as she laughed and hugged both of the people she loved best in the world—and completely forgot about her famous ex-husband, sitting all alone at the table with nothing but photos. He might have money and fame, but she had everything that was important, right here in her arms.
