“Get her!” Falcon shouted, and the men all tapped their beer bottles together as they watched their leader walk out on the dance floor.
Shaw towered over the man who held his woman. He tapped the man on the shoulder. The guy stopped and looked back at Shaw with wide eyes. “Yeah?”
“Get lost. She’s mine,” Shaw said with a menacing tone to his deep voice.
Robin frowned as Todd made a yelping sound and let her go, hurrying away like a pup with his tail between his legs. Shaw took over, pulling her into his arms. Her body betrayed her as it nestled into him. “That was rude.”
“Funny,” he said. “I think you were the one being rude. Staring isn’t exactly polite you know.”
“So you did see me,” she said and smiled.
“I could smell you as soon as I got out of my car in the parking lot. It was a very pleasant surprise,” Shaw said. “I haven’t been stalking you, so don’t even try to accuse me of doing that, Robin.”
“You would’ve had a hard time doing that,” she said as he spun her in a circle when the music got faster.
“Why is that?” he asked her then dipped her and grazed her neck with his lips as he lifted her back up. The smallest taste of her had him wanting to rip her clothes off and take her right then and there.
She gasped at his touch then tried to regain her composure. She didn’t want him to know how much he affected her. “I’ve stayed home. Tonight’s the first time I’ve been out of my apartment since you took me home that day.”
“Is that right?” he asked then pulled her even closer, nuzzling her hair, the scent intoxicating him. “And what would be the reason for staying home so much?”
“I didn’t feel well,” she answered. She didn’t want him to know she’d been depressed over not seeing him. His ego was enormous already, no reason to inflate it even more. “And how about you? Have you been moving on just fine without me? It sure seems like you have.”
“I haven’t slept since I dropped you off, if that’s any indication of how I’m doing without you, baby.” He kissed the side of her neck and loved how her legs went weak, making her cling to him as she made a tiny moan. “Want to know what I think?”
“What?” she asked breathlessly.
He kissed her neck once more and she gave him another sexy moan. “I think you didn’t feel well because you missed me. That’s what I think. And I know I haven’t slept because I’ve missed you. Not a moment’s gone by without me thinking about you. Not one damn moment, baby. How much longer are you going to torment us like this?”
“Us, being you and your wolf?” she asked with a smirk.
“Us, being me and you, Robin. You’re hurting yourself too. So how much longer can you do that?” Shaw pulled his head back to look into her green eyes. Eyes he’d only been able to daydream about for a solid week.
Robin gulped as she looked into his piercing eyes. They could see right through her, and she knew that. “Forever.”
“That’s a very, very long time, baby. Do you really think you can deny yourself for that long?” He couldn’t wait any longer, he had to kiss her sweet, plump pink lips.
He stopped all movement as their mouths converged and she didn’t stop him from slipping his tongue through her lips. Lips which quickly complied with his, taking the kiss deep and yielding to him the way he’d prayed she would.
As soon as he ended the kiss, he looked at Robin, finding her eyes closed and panting lightly. The kiss had done it; he felt sure of that. But when her eyes opened, she said quite the opposite, “I’m never going to let you bite me. I’m never going to let you turn me into a monster.”
He began to sway with her again. Though she’d said the words, her voice lacked conviction. And her body responded to his way too well for her words to be the truth. “Monster, huh? Why do you have to say such a negative thing about what I am?”
She laughed. “Shaw, that is what you are.”
“Have you seen me do anything that would make me a monster?” he asked then spun her around.
“No, but I haven’t witnessed you as the wolf in its entirety.” She scowled at him. “Admit it, you’re a monster when it takes you over.”
Shaw grew more determined to make her see how wrong she was. “You train dogs that most are afraid of. Many people call the breeds you work with monsters. You see past all that harsh façade and get to know the real animal underneath, all those sharp teeth and claws. You can do that for animals that mean nothing to you, but you can’t do it for me, a creature you love.”
“I’ve never said I love you, Shaw,” Robin quickly pointed out.
His dark brows rose. “If you don’t love me then why did you fall to the floor and weep when I left you at your apartment?”
Robin looked at him with a shocked expression. “How do you know what I did after you closed that door?”
He pointed to his ear. “I have above average hearing, as one might guess, being what I am. You fell immediately, and you cried, and you even said that you missed me already.”
Robin felt a bit incensed. “Well, be that as it may, I didn’t say that I loved you.”
“But that’s only because you’re as tenacious as they come, baby.” He leaned in close, whispering his next words, “When I made you mine, taking your innocence, your body told me you loved what I did to you. Will you deny that as well?”
Robin’s entire body flushed with heat. “How can I deny that?”
“I don’t know,” Shaw said. “You seem good at denying things that are true is why I had to ask. You love me, and you’re trying to hide it from yourself. You should really just say it and get it over with. You should just agree to become my mate, and we could get to the good part already.”
“You’re insane,” she quipped.
“Over you, I am. I will agree with you on that.” He kissed her lips once then pulled back when she parted her lips. “Oh, but she wants my kisses and nothing more?” He spun her around and around, making her a bit dizzy then said, “She’ll take my body to make hers feel more than she knew possible, but my love? Oh, no, she won’t take that.”
Robin was nearly out of breath when he finally stopped, and she panted as she looked at him with confusion. “I’d gladly accept your love and return it as well. But what you want is far more than that, and you know it.”
Shaw pulled her body until it was flush with his. His cock pulsed against her. “Come with me.”
Robin tried to get her brain to stop what her body demanded, but even it seemed to be going against her as she said, “Okay.”
Chapter 20
Shaw took Robin to a white Maserati in the bar’s parking lot and opened the passenger door for her. “Man, Shaw, do you own anything that’s not worth more than a small fortune?” Robin eyed the leather interior and the dashboard full of things she had no idea of what they did.
His response came quickly, “No. I only want the best. Hence, I want you, baby.”
He went around the sports car and got in and started the car, peeling out of the parking lot and making Robin grab the oh-shit bar. “Shaw!”
“Scared?” he asked with a deep chuckle.
Robin knew that’s exactly what he was aiming for, to scare the crap out of her. But how far would he go to get the reaction he sought?
“Not hardly.” Robin winked at him. “I did see a fierce wolf gnashing his razor-sharp teeth in my face once before, so I’m a little jaded in the fear department.”
Shaw zipped around a sharp corner, making the wheels squeal. “Oh, baby, do not provoke me. I love the way you smell when you’re afraid.” He hit the open road and pressed the gas pedal to the floor. Robin’s body pressed into the leather seat that seemed to be made just for such a thing, it hugged her securely, but that didn’t help her one bit.
“Shaw! Damn! Slow the hell down!” she shouted over the loud sound the engine made.
He laughed as he thoroughly enjoyed the high speed. “Okay, whatever you want.” He let off the gas
and hit the brake, making the car spin to one side, then they were heading in the opposite direction.
“God! Shaw, you’re a maniac!” Robin screamed.
Shaw loved her reactions and hauled ass out to a desolate location. He wanted to prove to the girl that she could face fear and live through it without it hurting her one little bit. In fact, it could do exactly the opposite of hurting her—it could make her stronger, tougher, and more willing to take risks she never thought she would. Like letting him bite her and turn her into his mate.
Robin hung on for dear life, and at first, she feared for her life. But then she began to have faith in Shaw’s abilities to drive the fast car as he seemed to almost be a part of the fantastic machine. Once she trusted him, she started to have fun. When he took a sharp left and headed up a steep hill, she found herself shouting something very different, “Yah! Woo-hoo!”
The smile on Shaw’s face went even bigger, then he came to a stop and looked at her with a sinister grin on his handsome face. Robin panted with excitement as she looked out the window to see where they’d stopped.
Trees were everywhere. The darkness made it hard to see, but the snowy surface of the forest floor illuminated the night a bit. When she looked back at Shaw, she heard him say, “Run.”
“What?” she asked then saw him reaching for the door handle and her instincts kicked in. He was going to chase her. “No!”
He didn’t say a word, just opened his door and she opened hers and bolted into the woods. In a panicked flash, she was gone, and Shaw only walked after the fleeing girl.
He laughed wickedly, trying to evoke more fear in her as he breathed in the luscious scent of her fear. “I’m coming to get you, baby.”
A light yelp met his ears, and he went toward it, knowing she’d fallen. Going a bit faster, he caught up to her in no time and saw his chance to get in front of her as he could jump off a hill and would end up right in her path.
She was going as fast as her little human legs could take her, and he knew she was really afraid of him. He howled as he jumped and she screamed. When he landed on his feet in front of her and turned to look at her, she stopped, freezing in her tracks. “Shaw?”
He took a big sniff, letting her fear excite him. His need for her became too great to wait any longer, and he took a giant leap, grabbing her and rolling with her over the ground, ending with her flat on her back. He growled then kissed her.
Robin couldn’t believe how relieved she was to feel his mouth on hers, kissing her instead of biting her the way she feared. His body warmed hers as he ground his swelling bulge against her quickly dampening core.
When he came up for air, he laughed. “Scared you, didn’t I?”
She ran her hands over his bearded cheeks. “In my defense, you can become something that might kill me.”
He kissed her cheek then the tip of her nose. “I’ve got control of the beast.” His mouth moved down her neck then he moved down further, pulling the buttons on her shirt off one at a time until her shirt was useless. He nuzzled her bra up, uncovering a pert breast. The nipple pebbled with the cold air that hit it.
Robin ran her hands through his thick hair, groaning with desire as he bit and nipped her tit then sucked it until she felt she might climax. “Shaw…” she moaned.
“Robin…” he moaned right back. “Let me make love to you. I’m dying for you.”
Shaw had her in the palm of his hand. Her body sang only for him. “Yes, Shaw… Take me… Show me who I belong to.”
“You’re mine, baby. Only mine,” he growled in her ear before he sat up, taking off his jacket and laying it out on the ground.
He moved her to lie on his jacket before ridding her of her jeans and shoes. She lay nearly naked, watching him with adoring eyes. When he released his erection from his pants, Robin groaned as she looked at it. “Shaw, I want you inside of me, baby. I want it so damn bad I can’t think of anything else. Please.”
Pleased with her admitting her need for him, he moved his body over her, thrusting his massive cock into her wet heat. She cried out as he stretched her out once more. Her nails dug into his biceps as she held onto him. He moved slowly at first, letting her get used to his size.
When her eyes closed and she relaxed her body, he knew she’d be all right and moved faster. Shaw couldn’t take his eyes off her beautiful face. Even though he had her right there underneath him, connected to her in such an intimate way, his heart ached to have her completely. He buried his face in her neck, hating the fact a mere female ruled him. With the first sniff of her, she’d taken everything away from him. His power, his strength, his will. She owned him, and she had no idea just how much power she had over him.
With every stroke he made, he gave her more of himself. His lips grazed over her sweet neck. His teeth nipped her earlobe, then he whispered, “You’re mine, Robin Winters. Only mine.”
She moaned, “Shaw, I am yours. Only yours.”
He nipped her neck, and she made a delightful sound. Sucking the place he’d nipped, he took her skin between his teeth and pulled it, making her cry out in ecstasy. Her body quaked, and she came all over his cock.
Her body arched up to meet his as her body clenched around him. He couldn’t take it anymore and came with her. Their loud pants rang through the forest. There, out in the open, they were no more or less than any other creature in the woods of Colorado that night.
Robin basked in the afterglow of the orgasm and sighed when Shaw kissed the soft spot behind her ear, whispering, “I love you, Robin. I always will.”
She ran her hands over his muscular back as she wondered if what he said was really true. Then she stopped thinking about that and looked deep inside herself. With him, she was better. With him, she felt different. And he was always on her mind. Even when she’d been mad at him or afraid of him, he had always been there. “I love you, Shaw Lykan.”
Shaw couldn’t believe what he’d heard. He pulled his head back to look at her. “You do?”
She nodded and bit her lip. “But I’m afraid of so much.”
He nodded, understanding why she had huge fears. He’d spent the week they’d been apart thinking about all she’d said to him. Her family would indeed leave this Earth, and she would never see them again. And he felt like that held her back more so than anything else did.
“You know, you said you’d lose your family, and I get you not wanting that. But I’ve been thinking about that whole thing.” He kissed her cheek and pulled her to sit up so he could get her dressed. He didn’t want her to freeze out there.
“You have?” she asked as she watched the big strong man put her jeans back on after putting himself away in his pants. She knew he could’ve left her to put her clothes back on, but he wanted to do it for her. A real monster wouldn’t care to do such a thoughtful thing.
Shaw went on, “I have and what I wanted to tell you was this. You will see your family members pass. But you’ll have a rare gift too. You see, you’ll be here for future generations of your family. Like an angel right here on Earth to watch over your sisters’ children, then their children after that, and on and on it’ll go.”
“I never thought of that.” Robin took Shaw’s hand, and he pulled her up, then he picked her up and put her on his shoulders. She laughed as she felt so tall and kind of like a little kid. It had been so many years since her father had carried her on his shoulders. Shaw was taking her heart by storm, and she felt helpless to stop anything. Nor did she think she wanted to anymore.
Chapter 21
The very next morning, Shaw woke up in his bed with Robin in his arms. He took a deep breath, taking her sweet scent into his lungs. It did something to his brain each time he took her essence in. Like she was being cemented into him somehow.
Shaw had no idea how the process of finding your true mate went. He’d seen shifters go apeshit over a female before, never truly understanding what was happening to them physically. Now that he’d scented the female for him, he had a new
respect for those he’d deemed ludicrous.
As he gazed at her, sleeping in his arms, he took in every little thing about Robin. The golden strands in her blonde hair looked as if she had a rare treasure growing inside of her that sprouted right out of her pretty little head. He nuzzled her hair, loving how soft and silky it always felt.
Shaw allowed himself to wonder what their children would look like. Maybe a boy who looked like him and a girl who looked like her. He didn’t care how they looked, he just knew he wanted as many as she’d give him.
The family Shaw came from was large. He’d love nothing more than to have a large family of his very own. He’d already built himself a home that could accommodate many people. He chuckled to himself as he thought that he had no idea he was building a home for a family when he began working on the massive log-cabin-style home.
Somewhere buried deep inside him there’d been the knowledge that one day his female—the one woman who’d been made just for him—would come along and he’d see the world in a new light.
When Robin stirred, he froze. It wasn’t his intention to wake her up. After all, she’d had one hell of a night. After their little tryst in the woods, he brought her back to his place, and they’d spent hours making love to one another.
She’d done so much with him, trusting him in a way he had worried she never would again. He had managed to keep his wolf reined in; neither wanted to freak her out and scare her off again. The wolf worked well with him, wanting to show Robin neither were the monster she thought they were.
When her emerald eyes opened, she found Shaw looking at her. With a moan, she stretched. “Why are you looking at me, Shaw?”
“Because I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in my entire life. Waking up with you in my arms is addicting, I can tell that already. I can’t seem to let you go, baby.” He kissed her forehead and groaned as he felt his male member growing. But he knew he had to pamper his woman a bit this morning. She needed a nice long hot bath and a hearty breakfast to get her strength back up. He’d worn her out with their nighttime activities.
