showed most of her belly. She went out and sat on the patio. She was pretending to read a magazine, but she was actually looking for who was watching them. Then she saw the man. He was a few floors up and few rooms over. He was looking at her with binoculars. She did not know whether to wave at the man or not. So, she didn’t. When the sun was directly overhead she went in and put her white bikini on and laid out on a sunning pad. She saw the man with a camera now. When she got hot she went inside and took a cool shower. She was ready for dinner. She put on the little white sundress that she had and waited for Bobby to wake up from his nap.

When he woke up she was staring at him. He slowly got out of bed, put his pants and a shirt on and said, “Okay, let’s go eat.” He held her hand as they went to the dining room.

They had sword fish as the special, so Lynda ordered it. Bobby ordered them both a local drink. Then he bought her another one. He said, “Babs, you can’t hold your liquor. Talk loud and act up a little bit, gradually.”

Lynda held the glass up in the air like she was going to make a toast, and spilled some of it on the table. She laughed loudly, which amused the other dinner guests. She put the glass down and grabbed both her breasts and pushed them up until more cleavage showed. She giggled loudly.

  Bobby winked at her.

She reached down and pulled her dress up and crossed her legs. This got a lot of attention. Bobby winked at her again. Then she saw the man again. He had his camera and was taking pictures of both of them. She leaned over the table and knocked her drink over. She sopped it up with her napkin. Then put the napkin in her mouth and sucked on it loudly. Bobby winked at her again. Lynda was trying to think of something else to do, when the man with the camera left.

She finished eating her fish and potato, and they went to the lounge. A black woman was singing on a small stage and people were dancing.

Bobby led her out on to the dance floor, and they danced a few dances.

Lynda saw the man with camera come in. She kicked each leg up behind her. She was making quite a show. Then Bobby saw the man. He said, “Nice going, Babs.”

She said, “Will you stop it with the ‘Babs!’”

  He just said, “No!”

When they got to the room, they both went in the bathroom. Bobby said, “I am sorry that you don’t like being called Babs, but it is better than using your real name. It will keep you and your family safe. When I call you Babs, know that we are putting on a show for someone. If I call you Lynda, we are talking business.”

Lynda said, “That is fair, and thanks for the explanation. I haven’t been sure if you were playing the part or taking advantage of me.”

“Honestly,” he said, “a little of both. I had to get you comfortable and in the role. I want them thinking that you are just a dumbass kid. You can learn a lot when the enemy underestimates you.

“Tomorrow is going to be very difficult for you; you are going to be playing a role that will let you get away with a lot of snooping,” he added.

“What am I looking for?” Lynda asked.

“I am not sure. Mostly what makes this guy tick; is he a womanizer?” Bobby said.

He said, “It would be best if we slept in the same bed.”

  They did.

The next morning came early with a knock on the door. Two native Indian-looking men stepped into the room. Bobby just had his underwear on. Lynda got up and went into the bathroom. Both men stared at her.

She turned on the shower, and then silently locked the door. She stepped into the shower, and washed her hair, then her body. When she was satisfied, she turned the water off and got out of the shower. She dried off quietly and listened to see if the men were still talking. They were. She put on her gown, then thought better of it and took it back off. She opened the door slightly, saw the men, and said, “Honey, would you hand me my shorts and tee shirt?”

Bobby handed them to her, and Lynda made sure that the men got to see her arm and shoulder, but nothing else. When she was dressed she “bopped” out of the bathroom and went out and dried her hair in the sun with a towel, making a big show of it.

  The two men left.

Bobby showed Lynda a map. It was complete with combinations of gates and codes to get through voice-activated gates.

Lynda went into the bathroom and put a little curl in her hair, brushed her teeth, and put her make-up on. She walked out to find Bobby ready to go. She took the miniskirt and blouse into the bath room and changed. It just took a few minutes. When she came out she said, “Should I take my gun in my purse?”

Bobby said, “Lynda, I am counting on that. I am not taking a gun; they will search us both.”

They went out to the rental car and Bobby checked it over for hidden devices. They got in and drove off. The first gate they came to had a chain and lock on it. Bobby undid the lock and opened the gate. He closed it and relocked it. The next gate they came to had a speaker on it. Bobby told the speaker who he was, and the gate slowly opened.

They came to a large white rock fence. It was about six feet high. This gate also had a speaker box, but had a man who looked over the car. He took a long hard look at Lynda.

They drove up to the house and stopped in a covered circular drive. Bobby got out and came around and opened the door for Lynda. She made a big deal of getting out one leg at a time. An elderly man rushed out and took her purse and helped her into the house. Bobby followed them. The old man showed her where her purse would be, then asked them what they wanted to drink. Bobby said, “Something with a local flavor to it.” The old man brought two glasses back. They took long drinks of the cocktail, then set them back on the tray.

The little old man then escorted them to a door, and he knocked on it gingerly and listened closely.

They could all hear a “Come in” from the other side of the door.

They entered the room. Bobby hurried to the man and introduced himself. The man said, “I am Miguel Donovan at your service.” Then he added, “And who is this lovely creature?” He held out his hand to Lynda.

Lynda took his hand, curtsied and said, “Sir, you may call me ‘Babs;’ all my friends do.” She smiled a brilliant smile at him. She sized him up quickly. He was about forty, was well-dressed and well-tanned. The only thing out of place was, he wore his hair in a mullet.

Miguel said, “Ah, Babs, I have heard so much about you. Please sit down.”

Lynda sat down and crossed her legs very provocatively. She continued to smile like she had no brains at all.

Miguel said, “Mr. Hodges, what can I do for you?”

Bobby acted like there was a small child in the room. “I am interested in one of your cash crops.”

“I see,” said Miguel, “Which one?”

Bobby glanced at Lynda. She was cleaning her fingernails. He said, “One that has been refined and can be carried in a small plane.”

Miguel again said, “I see.” He stood up from behind his desk. He walked over to Lynda and said, “Miss Babs, will you excuse us please?” He helped her up and back through the door. He told the old man to get her some refreshments.

The old man took Lynda by the arm into the kitchen and said, “What would you like?”

She said, “Maybe some candy and another one of those drinks.”

He pulled out some pecan sugar candy that was as good as anything that she had ever eaten. Then he brought her a drink. She took a sip, and smiled. She said, “This is too strong. Could you weaken it some?” The old man hurried off again. Lynda ate some more of the candy.

She sat in the kitchen for a good thirty minutes. Between the sugar high and the liquor high, she was on cloud nine. She did not have to act drunk; she was. She realized too late that she had to slow down.

She realized that she could hear Spanish music coming from the other room, so she stuck her head through the door. Sure enough, Bobby and Miguel were in the room having a drink.

When Miguel saw her head, he smiled and said, “Please, my dear, come in.” He walked over to her and took her hand and led her into the room. Lynda was listening to the beat of the music; she was certain that it was a cha-cha. She started tapping her foot and Miguel noticed her, and he took her by the arm and danced with her. He said, “Not only beautiful, but a good dancer too. Mr. Hodges, you are a lucky man to have found such a young beauty.” When the song was over, he brought her back to Bobby. She held onto his arm. She was a little bit shaky.

Bobby led her over to a chair and said, “Sit down, Babs!” There was a hint of anger in his voice. Lynda could not tell if it was real or not. He walked back over to Miguel, and Lynda began studying her nails again. She was trying hard to listen to them, but with the music, it was impossible.

The old man came to her, “Anything else, my lady?”

She smiled at the little man and shook her head “no.” She needed to sober up.

Lunch was served. It was sliced beef with frijoles, beans. Lynda ate her fair share. It would help her sober up. She was very careful to not make a mess.

After lunch the men decided to go for a horseback ride. Miguel asked Babs if she wanted to swim. He said his daughter was about her size, and she could borrow a suit. The old man brought out a two-piece suit and she went into a bathroom and changed. She walked out of the bathroom, and a young boy about eight was getting into the pool. He almost bolted when he saw her.
