with. She had lost track of Bobby.

Then she saw him. He was snuggling up to a young woman. They were both high.

Miguel came out of the kitchen and saw her. He walked up to her and said, “Babs, how are you tonight? Aren’t you in the mood to party?”

She said, “Miguel, you are a nice man. I came with Bobby. I am not really a party girl.”

Miguel sat down by Lynda. He said, “Just say the word and I will send everyone home!”

She wondered if he really meant it. She suspected that he did. She said, “No, I don’t want to be a party pooper. Perhaps you could get me a bourbon and Coke, easy on the bourbon.” He was only gone a moment, and then returned with her drink.

He sat down by her. He said, “I wish that you would join the party. I would consider it a big favor.”

She looked into his eyes and said, “Okay, just for you I will.”

He led her out to the pool area.

Miguel maneuvered her to the cocaine table. People moved back out of his way. He stuck his finger in the drug and offered it to her. She shook her head no; he stuck his finger in his own mouth.

Lynda said, “Dance with me, Miguel.” They moved to a special area where a band was playing and people were dancing. People were moving out of their way. She wondered if they were that afraid of Miguel. Apparently they were.

She watched as Bobby and his new girlfriend stripped off their clothes and jumped into the pool naked. It started a trend. People were stripping everywhere. Suddenly the pool was full of naked people. Lynda stopped dancing and watched.

Miguel said, “Want to join them?” He had a big smile on his face.

“Heavens no, they are all drunk out of their minds.”

Lynda looked up at the window. Michael was still watching.

She started dancing again. They were the only couple on the floor. She said, “Miguel, if you want to join them, have at it, I will be fine.”

Miguel chuckled, “They are all nutty as a fruit cake. I have no desire to do anything but watch them. I would rather dance with you.”

A couple got out of the pool and walked naked to the barn. Lynda asked, “Where are they going?”

Miguel shrugged his shoulders. “There is a hay loft in there. They go for privacy.”

Lynda said, “Oh,” and kept dancing.

Miguel asked, “Babs, can I ask you a personal question?”

“Sure,” Lynda said, and backed up a bit.

“I know Babs is your nickname; what is your real name?” Miguel asked.

Lynda laughed, “My real name is Lynda!”

“Thank you, Lynda. I am very pleased to meet you. Would you like to go into the house?”

She said, “Miguel, I came with Bobby. I had better stay out here and keep him out of trouble. He looks like he is having too much fun.”

“You should leave him,” Miguel said. “He is no good for you!”

Miguel pulled a card out of his pocket. He said, “If you decide that you might want to be with me, call me. I will come and get you anywhere in the world.”

Lynda looked at him. “Thank you.” And she stuck his card in her bra.

Miguel pointed at the barn. There was Bobby running holding hands with the young woman. Lynda laughed. “I guess I just lost my boyfriend.” She started off the dance floor. Miguel held on to her hand and followed her. She went over to Bobby’s pants and knelt down and took his keys. She held them up to Miguel. “I had better go, before he gets back.”

Miguel laughed. He said, “I will see that he gets back to the hotel. Don’t worry about him. You come back whenever you want to!”

Lynda looked up at the window. Michael was staring at her. She waved at him and he waved back.

Miguel walked Lynda to the rental car. He said, “I wish you would stay with me. Please call me sometime!”

Lynda said, “I will,” and at the time, she meant it. She drove off in a cloud of dust with Miguel waving at her.

She made it back to the hotel, and parked right in front. She went to the room and showered. When she came out of the bathroom, she looked at the room door. She locked it and slid the sofa over in front of the door. She wanted no intruders tonight. She put her gun under her pillow.

She woke up the next morning to the phone ringing. It was Bobby. “Will you please come get me?”

  “Are you sober?” She asked.

“Yes. Please come get me, I am begging you, please!”

“I have to get dressed, then I will drive out there. Don’t go anywhere!”

“I won’t. Please hurry!” Bobby said.

Lynda got dressed in shorts and a tee shirt, and walked down to the car. She drove back out to the compound. Both Bobby and Miguel were waiting on her. They both wanted to see her. Miguel invited her in for a late breakfast. She took him up on it.

The cook had bacon already cooked, and biscuits and eggs were coming off the stove. Everything was hot. They even had hot chocolate. There were other people still there, but Lynda did not see Bobby’s new girlfriend. They ate at a kitchen table and Lynda felt right at home.

It was nearly noon before she and Bobby got away from Miguel. He just would not let them leave. He came to Lynda’s window and said, “I feel like I will never see you again.”

She pulled his card out of her bra and said, “Don’t count on it. I will call you, promise.”

Bobby wanted to drive, but Lynda said, “No!”

She drove them back to the hotel and they packed up their clothes, and drove to the car rental place and dropped the car off. They walked to the airport. They had plenty of time, and Lynda wanted to be sure that Bobby was sober. She went to the counter and got herself a different seat in first class; she did not want to sit by Bobby.

They had a short layover in Houston, but did not have to leave the plane. Bobby tried to sit by her, but the stewardess realized that there was a problem and made him go back to his seat.

Marilyn met them at the airport. Marilyn seemed very happy to see Bobby.

Lynda wanted to tell her the whole story, but she just left her to her fate. She had no compassion for either one of them.

Bobby tried to get Lynda alone in baggage, but Marilyn stuck by them like glue.

When she got home, One-Shot tried to get out of her how the trip went. He recognized that something had happened. He finally got Lynda to call Bobby a “jack-ass.” That was all that she told him.

But when she talked to Tom, she opened up and said that she could not work with Bobby anymore. He wanted to know why. She wouldn’t tell him. Everyone in the office knew that something bad had happened. Bobby tried to tell his side of the story, but no one wanted to hear it.

Eventually Ted and Bobby squared off in the parking lot. Ted said, “I want to know what you did to my wife, before I beat your ass!”

Bobby was not sure about Ted. Ted was younger than and not quite as big as Bobby was, but he was an ex-Ranger.

Lynda heard about the fight as it started. She ran down the stairs and got between them and said, “I will not have you fighting over me. Tell him what happened, Bobby!” Marilyn was just standing watching.

Both Tom and Wayne came down and separated the two men. Bobby yelled out, “I didn’t do anything to your wife. Tell him, Lynda!”

“That’s right, Ted, he did not do anything to me; he did it to himself, and another woman,” she said. Marilyn huffed up and walked off, with Bobby chasing her. It seemed that everyone was mad at Bobby.

Tom assigned Bobby back to Marilyn, and Lynda to Wayne. Lynda found out that Wayne was a man of his word and a real gentleman.

It seemed that Marilyn could not work with Bobby anymore either, so she was assigned back to Ted. Bobby had no one to partner with. Not even the men would partner with him. For the first time, he really missed Billy.

A sting operation was being prepared. Bobby suggested that Lynda be included. That she could g
et the team close to the house before an alarm was raised. A multi agency and the local government were included in the raid. The CIA, ATF, Army Rangers and Guatemalan soldiers were included. The only CIA agent was to be Lynda. Ted was considered, but was left out.

Lynda called Miguel and asked if she could come see him in a few weeks. He was ecstatic. She was to go in first and leave all the gates open, and then be sure that Michael was out of the line of fire.

They staged the raid outside the city limits of Guatemala. A total of sixty agents would be in the raiding party.

Lynda called Miguel from town. Miguel said the gates would all be open to receive her. She was at the front of the long precession. The raiding party was about a mile behind her.

She came to the first gate. It was unlocked. She opened the gate and left it propped open.

The next gate was one of the voice-activated gates. It opened for her and she put a board up against it, so that it would not close. The chain that closed it pulled and pulled on the gate, finally jumping off its track.

She drove about a mile to the compound gate and stopped where the gate was forced to stay open. She was feeling bad about what she was doing to Miguel. He had been nothing but nice to her. Better than most men.

She could see Miguel standing outside the house waiting on her. He did not seem to know what to do. Finally he saw the convoy and ran into the house. Men began to pour out of the house, the barn and another outbuilding that Lynda had not noticed before. They were running straight at her and the fence. Several shot at her. Her vest stopped two bullets. They hurt like hell. They hit her high in the chest, above
