Sweet Obsessions: His Beauty, Her Beast

The lingering kiss they shared left them both speechless.

“My God, your ma wasn’t lying.”

Brick chuckled. “Aye, love feel so good that you’re turning Irish.”

  EPILOGUE

Eight and a half months and two fabulous weddings later…..

Brick glanced up to find his brother baring down on him.

“Not you too,” he sighed, tossing the papers in his hand on the floor.

“Yeah, me too motherfucker. What the fuck are you playing at?” growled Pike, stopping in front him.

“I’m not playing at nothing. Lakyta has become crazy,” he stated in a high pitched tone as he waved his hands wildly.

“She said that you’ve been sleeping in the other room. Is that true?”

“Yes, but did she tell you it’s to keep from making love to her? No, of course she didn’t,” he answered. “She’s so big with the baby that I don’t want to hurt her.”

Pike ran his open palm over his face. He had driven all the way over to his brother’s house to beat his ass, only to see that it was the same shit that he was dealing with at his home with Cashmere.

“They seem to get crazier as they go along,” moaned Pike, plopping into the leather chair next to him.

“Think it’s the extra blood going to the baby and not to the brain that does it,” grumbled Brick.

  “So, where is she anyway?”

“She’s walking on the treadmill. She says she’s walking the babies down because she woke up with some pain this morning,” replied Brick as he elbowed his brother.

“Oh shit, not that. I left Cashmere at home breathing through the pain,” stated Pike, dramatically.

They both were in a fit of laughter when Rivean came crashing into the room.

“Da, Ma, she’s in trouble, come quick,” he cried before he ran out of the room.

The two brothers ran as if a troll was chasing them. Brick ran over to the treadmill, pushed his son out of the way to find Lakyta doubled over.

“If this is just a cramp woman, I’m going to tan your fuckin’ ass, and that goes for you too, if you’re in on it,” he thundered, pointing at his son.

The pain in her sapphire eyes was obvious.

“My water just broke,” she announced.

  “Oh, shit…where?” asked Brick.

She stood up and fluid began to flow like a river down her thighs.

“Okay, okay, okay,” stuttered Brick as he pulled at his hair.

“How the hell is your baby coming before mine?” inquired Pike in awe. “Alright you guys, head out. I’ll call—”

The sound of his cell ringing cut into his words.

“What,” he snapped. The color drained from his face only for it to return in a rush. “That’s more like it,” he shouted after he ended the call. “Cashmere’s water just broke, too,” he announced. They picked each other up in crushing bear hugs, and punched each other as their loud shouts of celebration filled the room.

“Da! Da!” screamed Rivean at the top of his lungs to get them to remember Lakyta.

“Right, you drive,” laughed Brick as he picked her up in his arms.

Hours later, Brick’s daughter, Niamh, was born with a head full of ginger hair and mocha colored skin. Followed by Pike’s son, Lorcan a few seconds later. Lastly, Brick and Lakyta welcomed a very reluctant Cairan, their son, into the world. After the babies were all checked and cleaned, the men, along with Demont stood in the hallway in a circle. Holding their babies, Forester did what his dad did to him and what had been the tradition of their family. He spoke in a deep voice with his eyes full of pride as he recited the Celtic words over the three wailing, green eyed additions to the McCormac clan.
