by J Peach

I took off my bra and panties then turned on the shower and hopped in. I quickly washed myself, taking a whore’s bath. After I rinsed myself out with the sprayer, I got out of the shower. I grabbed my underclothes from off the floor then went back into our room. Blaze caught me as I was coming out and pushed me into the wall.

“You better watch who the fuck you talking to before I smack the shit outda yo ass.” He glared down at me.

“Blaze, let me go. You ain’t slapping shit but my ass.” I rolled my eyes at him. My lips pursed together as I stared at him trying to match his glaring face. I was failing. Before my smile could give me away, I stood on my tip toes and kissed him. “Now go wash up so we can go. Somebody still have to tell Blake about the new addition to the family.” I took his hand and moved it to my stomach.

That did it for him. “I can’t stand yo ass.” He laughed while rubbing my stomach. “Peaches, you know I love the fuck outda you, right?” Blaze kissed me then moved down to my stomach and kissed it.

“I know. I love you, too.” I rubbed his head as he kissed my belly once more.

“Damn,” Blaze cussed. “This shit yo fault, if you wasn’t pregnant, I wouldn’t be horny as hell all the time. Shid, the thought of you having my baby get a nigga brick real quick. Peach, you might be having twins, boss, because my ass been extra horny lately,” he explained with a serious face.

I couldn’t do anything but laugh at him. “Blaze, get away from me. Ugh! Why would you say that?”

He laughed. “I’m serious as hell, Peaches, look.” He pointed to his man standing up. “Shid, one nut and I’m good. Lately, it’s like two nuts and I’m straight for a few hours before we gotda fuck again.”

“Blaze, shut up. Don’t be jinxing me shit.” I snapped at him.

A serious look covered his face as his head tilted. “Who the fuck jinxing you? Shid, I’m telling yo ass so you can go get that shit fixed. Shid, we ain’t ready fah no damn twins. I can barely get some pussy with the one we got. The fuck you think I’mma be getting with two babies? New babies too? Hell n’all! I’mma have blue balls like a mothafucka.

“Hell n’all! Yo ass better start calling mothafuckas about merging them babies as one or give one away. Hell n’all! They ain’t about to fuck up my pussy flow. Nope, not happening.” His head shook as he stared at my stomach. “You need to make a doctor appointment—” Blaze broke laughing. “I’m bullshitting, man. Damn. Fuck you looking at me like that fah?” He laughed.

I felt the muscles in my face loosen so I knew my facial expression was blanked. Hell, I didn’t know if he was being serious or not. You could never tell with Blaze’s ass sometimes. My mind had gotten stuck on the part of merging two babies together. “Hahaha,” I started off with a real laugh before I stopped and gave him another blank stare. “Yo ass ain’t funny.” I went to move past him but he stopped me. This time I laughed. “Blaze, gon’ now. Blake is going to come back and bang on our door, so stop playing.”

“I’ight, but I’m serious about twins. I’m telling you, Peaches. That team I want coming,” Blaze said excitedly.

I laughed at him. One thing that couldn’t be denied was he wanted me to have his babies. That was a good thing but also a scary one. A part of me feared he was going to try and keep me pregnant. That was the only thing that put a damper on my excitement. I didn’t want to have more kids if he was still going to be hustling.

  Peaches

“It took y’all long enough.” Blake’s attitude could be heard in his voice as well as seen on his face.

“Who the hell you talking to?” Blaze asked him.

I elbowed him in the side and then got in front of him. “Y’all don’t start that mess. Blake, you better watch yo tone of voice before it gets you hurt. Now let’s go.” I checked him.

“Sorry,” Blake mumbled under his breath but loud enough so that we could hear him.

“Come on,” I walked over to him and put my arm over his shoulder. I could feel Blaze staring hard at me but I ignored it. We had to tell Blake he was having another sibling. Yelling and fussing at him wasn’t going to help him accept it. Plus, he had been cooped up in this house, so I knew he was frustrated and wanted to go out and have fun.

  “Blaze.”

I heard King’s voice come from behind me. I turned to look at him. I thought Blake was playing when he said King was here.

“What’s up, Peaches?” King came over and gave me a hug then kissed my cheek.

“What’s up? I didn’t know you were coming out here today.” I stared at him confused. King always called when he was coming to visit us. King, just popping up unannounced, I knew something wasn’t right.

I glanced over at Blaze to see him staring at King with a raised brow as if trying to read him.

Blaze then looked over at me and his face straightened up. So I couldn’t read him.

“B, I see yo ass moving about. How yo legs?” King asked, jumping at Blaze.

Blaze bounced back as King swung. He dodged the blow then came forward. His fist shot out and King caught it. He laughed as he pulled Blaze into him. It looked as if they were giving each other a man hug. But the hold was a few seconds to long. I knew it had been a good month since King been here but I knew damn well he didn’t miss Blaze that much.

They pulled apart and they both laughed.

“Bitch ass holding. You know I can still fuck yo ass up.” Blaze joked, pushing King away from him.

“Yo bitch ass could try. You ain’t fuckin’ with me, cripple ass. I saw that slip, that’s why I grabbed you.” King shit talked back.

“King, I don’t know why you didn’t call. Are you coming out with us?” I asked him.

He glanced at Blaze then back to me. “N’all, I’m not staying long. I just had to pick up some shit I left here. I’m leaving tonight. You need to get back to Gary, though, and check up on Mom B. You can’t just have the funeral and disappear on her, Peach. Making it seem like you abandoned her, you need to get back there and soon.” King explained to me before looking at Blaze and nodding toward the kitchen.

“Peaches, give me a second,” Blaze said before he walked off with King.

I looked over at Blake and he let out a groan before walking into the living room and flopping down on the couch. He turned on the TV and started flipping through the channels.

When I heard the back door close, my curiosity had gotten the best of me. “Blake, I’ll be right back. Start up the truck for me, please.” He did as I asked of him.

I went into the kitchen to see Blaze, King and the rest of the men heading to the shed. I waited for a few seconds until they were all inside before I followed them out there. The shed was sound proofed, so I couldn’t hear anything. So I opened the door and went in.

“Yo fuckin’ youngin’ out there wild as fuck. That little bastard out there wrecking hell on them niggas. He bringing too much fuckin’ heat to any mothafucka out there tryna serve shit. Niggas scared to setup a meet because that little mothafucka. I’m coming to you because that yo boy, but he fuckin’ with my business. Little dude got heart. I give him that but when you fuckin’ with my money, I takes that shit personal.” King snapped at him.

“Shid, Mac a go getta period. He gon’ make his money regardless—”

“This ain’t got shit to do with money, my nigga. I thought so at first, too. So I stepped to his ass with a proposition but he turned that shit down. That nigga said fuck me and my money. Money ain’t got shit to do with it. He tryna figure out what the fuck happened to yo ass. Like I said, I’m comin’ to you because that’s yo boy and he’s loyal as fuck to you. So you can either bring him in or I’m killing his ass when I touch back down. I ain’t got shit against youngin’ but his recklessness is fuckin’ with my business and money,” King told him. I could tell he was heated.

“Damn, don’t kill him. Shid, he a hot headed son of a bitch but he a crazy little mothafucka and if he already out there asking questions. He’l
l find something out before either one of us—”

King cut Blaze off with a disagreeable shake of his head. “Shid, how the fuck he gon’ find out shit when that mothafucka killing niggas who ain’t talking. Shid, a nigga ain’t gotda know nothing and Mac killing that mothafucka. That nigga leaving a trail of bodies— that trail is his calling card. If mothafuckas know he dropping niggas without a care, somebody bound to talk. Fuck! That mothafucka still fuckin’ up my shit. Niggas want work and scared to meet up thinking this little nigga gon’ come kicking in the fuckin’ door. Shid, he done shook mothafuckas down on Bottom Side. He got niggas spooked.”

“I knew I liked his ass for a reason. He ain’t doing shit we haven’t done. Only difference is, police ain’t caught up to Mac’s ass yet. Shid, we make a move and they’re on our ass. We just gotda shape Mac’s ass up and he’ll be good.” A thoughtful look covered Blaze’s face.

“Ain’t no we, that’s yo boy. You shape that mothafucka.”

“Stop acting like a bitch. I’ll get at him.” Blaze made me and King’s head tilt to the side. I’m sure our facial expression were the same.

“How the fuck you gon’ get at him?” King asked the question I was thinking.

“Because I’m going back to Gary with you.” Blaze nodded as if he was still thinking on something.

“I’m about to leave once we done here. And you ‘bout to ride out with Peaches.” King reminded him.

“Damn,” Blaze’s hand ran over his head and down his face. “Let me go holla at Peaches right quick. Shit!”

My head was already shaking at him. I knew he wasn’t about to blow us off to go run back to Gary and play hood again.

“I’m staying out here.” Bellow told Blaze, shaking his head. Khyree, Khalil and King agreed on doing the same.

“We all might as well stay out here.” I jumped in, still leaning against the wall.

“I’m going in the house.” Bellow once again said. True to his words, he was the first to walk past me and out the door, followed by Khyree and Khalil. Neither one of them said a word to me.

I cut my eyes at my brother. “King, you might as well stay. I mean, you’re the one who came with the news. Gon’ talk, Blaze.”

  “Peaches—”

I held my hand up, cutting Blaze off. “What are going to do, Blaze? Go back home, get with this Mac dude and shake the city, letting everybody know you’re alive?”

“Peaches, I’m going to talk to the nigga. I ain’t shaking shit. The fuck is you talking about?” His voice raised.

My head shook at him. “Blaze, who are you trying to convince that you’re only trying to talk to this dude? Damn sho not me. King, you knew what yo ass was doing when you told him this. You two mothafuckas live for trouble. King, you’re not dumb so I know you seen what Blaze saw in Mac when he turned down yo fuckin’ offer. So you came running to Blaze to get him on board with y’all. Blaze, yo ass stupid if you didn’t see that shit. You’re not going back to Gary.

“If the dude been killing folks for months, another day ain’t gon’ matter unless he dies by then, which means his time ran out. Right now, though, we have an eight year old son out there waiting to have a family day with us. And those plans aren’t about to change because the hood in you wanna go run the streets. King, you can stay or take yo ass home, your choice. But Blaze ain’t going nowhere today. He’s not about to blow my baby off for this bullshit. We’ll be in the car waiting on you.” I wasn’t about to argue with Blaze about anything. My mind wasn’t changing and if he knew what was best for his ass, he’d be in that truck driving us to the movies, the toy store and then out to eat.

All that extra shit come after family time. I left out of the shed and went back into the house where the others were.

“You need me to take you somewhere?” Bellow asked.

“N’all, Blaze driving us out today,” I replied as I walked past them into the living room and out the front door. I got in the truck. Blake sat in the backseat with his cellphone in his hand, playing a game.

“Are we still going?” Blake asked.

“Yeah, we’re about to leave in a minute. Sorry we’ve been slow all morning.”

“It’s cool.” From the way it came out, I knew he didn’t mean it.

I reached over to the steering wheel and started blowing the horn. A few seconds later, Blaze came out of the house. After he shook up with King, he made his way to the truck. Once he got in, I turned away from him to look out my window.

“B, you ready to go?” Blaze asked a dumb question.

“I guess,” Blake responded. He didn’t seem excited at all anymore.

Blaze let out a sigh as he started backing out the driveway. “Peaches, did you put the address into the GPS?”

“No, I forgot.” I took out my phone and pulled up the address for Lights Out Putt & Play. I programed the address into the GPS then turned back to look out my window. I was most definitely in my feelings about what just took place but I didn’t want to say too much because Blake was in the truck with us.

Blaze was seriously going to make me hurt his black ass. He better get his shit together or I was taking my baby back to Lafayette on his ass.

  ***

We were having so much fun, the three of us. So much so, I had decided to let the whole ordeal go about Blaze trying to go back to Gary. Eventually, he would have to go back anyways.

I was truly just trying to stall him from going back because of the drama it would bring us.

Right now, though, I pushed it to the back of my mind as we had a family day out. Blake had fun at Lights Out Putt & Play. We played miniature golf and air hockey.

Once we left there we went out to eat. Now we were at the mall and I was beyond tired. My feet were hurting and I was sleepy.

“Boy, stop playing and come on now. My feet hurt.” I complained, grabbing Blake and pulling him back to me.

“N’all, man, you heavy. Get on dad’s back.” Blake laughed as I tried to hop on his back again but he quickly moved out of the way.

“Forget you then, punk.” I stood in front of Blaze, snapping my fingers as I held my arms out. “Come on, big daddy.”

His brow raise before they fell to the bags in his hands. “Fuck you snapping yo fingers fah? I ain’t no damn dog. Hell n’all! I got all these bags. I’m not carrying yo ass, too. Fuck outda here.” He shook his head and walked around me.

“That’s okay, y’all better remember this. Blake, who gon’ feed you? Yo daddy can’t cook. Blaze, who gon feed you, too? Blake can’t make nothing but a hotdog. And what about your late night problem? You bet not wake me up at two/three in the morning. I bet you don’t get my medicine.” I hinted to him about sex.

“Medicine? Peaches, shut the fuck up. Shid, yo ass gone need my needle to give me yo damn medicine.” He tried to come back but failed.

“Point exactly. I’m not using your needle no more. I can go to the store and buy me some. Different color ones too. Can you get my medicine from anywhere?” My lips twisted into a smirk. He couldn’t go to the store and buy pussy but I could always get a vibrator and batteries.

“Fuck you, Peaches.” He tried to push me, but I moved out of the way.

Laughing at him, I turned around and headed for the exit. “Ahhh!” A surprised scream left my mouth as I was suddenly lifted off my feet. I looked back at Blaze and started laughing. His ass wasn’t stupid. The way he’d been wanting to have sex lately he better had come to his senses. “Nope, put me down. I can walk now. Gon’ now.”

“N’all, I got you. I can’t have my lady walking around with her feet hurting. What kinda man would I be if I let her walk in pain?” Blaze questioned.

“Dude, you gotda come better than that. You just trying to get some of her medicine at night.” Blake jumped in.

Blaze burst out laughing so much so he had to lean against the door from laughing so hard. “Hell n’all! On what yo little ass gon’ blast me like that? B, I’ll knock yo ass out. But it’s cool,
though, because you don’t understand. Now when you get some girls’ medicines you gon’ be just like me.”

“Blaze, for real? Don’t be telling him stuff like that. I done already told you about that. Blake isn’t getting no medicine from nobody.” I rolled my eyes at him before looking at Blake. “Ain’t that right, baby?”

Blake looked away from me to his dad, then he rubbed his hand over his head. “Yeah,” he said before scratching the back of his head.

“Oh shit! Damn, boy yo ass cursed! You ain’t never gon’ get away with a lie doing that shit.” Blaze started laughing as we reached the truck. “Damn, boy.”

“I’m not lying. I’m not gon’ get no medicine from nobody.” His eyes slid to me and again he scratched the back of his neck.

Now I didn’t know whether to be mad about the fact his telltale lies were just like his dad or the fact he knew what I was talking about when I referred to medicine. Of course, it was the latter. Now I just had to figure out whose fucking medicine was he thinking about getting.

Once the truck was started, I turned toward the backseat to look at my boy. “Blake, don’t lie to me—”

“Now he know to lie to you, Peaches. Stupid ass.” Blaze stated.

I glared at him. “Blaze, shut up, with your real irritating ass.” I cut my eyes at him before turning back to Blake. “Rashad—”

“Oh shit! She’s serious now.” Blaze cut me off once more. “B, just say I plead the fifth to whatever she says until I teach you how to lie.”
