The Pink Palace

“Janelle, now that our lives are back to normal, I don’t wanna spend the rest of my life without you,” I say to her.
“Oh my God . . . Jayson?”
I take out a little blue ring box and open it and show her a 14-karat yellow gold diamond ring.
“So I’m asking you, Janelle Mo’Nique Taylor, will you please marry me?” I’ve never been this anxious in my life. Five years of undercover work and nothing has shocked me like this before.
Tears start to roll down her eyes. It’s like she can’t speak. “Yes . . . yes, I will.”
I slide the ring on her finger.
“I love you, Janelle.”
She gets up from the table and we share a passionate kiss.
“I love you too, Jayson.”
This time I’m not going to screw up this marriage. This is really the beginning of our lives together.
