“It definitely was.”
“How did you feel when he showed up?”
I shrugged. “A little upset because he knew where I was, but I was actually glad to see him. I haven’t really seen anyone in six months, so it was good to actually interact with someone, besides you. No offense.”
“None taken. I understand.”
“I think I’m ready to talk about the real reason why I’m here.”
Kimbella put down her pen and stared at me. “You already discussed that it was because of your stepfather.”
“I know, but I didn’t go into details to what happened to him.”
She tilted her head while I sighed. “I killed him when I was 16.”
She took a deep breath and began scribbling on her notepad. I guess this was considered a major breakthrough.
“I shot him twice in the chest, put his body in a rug and Lamar and I took him to an open field in the park and burned his body.”
“Wow. And your mom…”
“She was there when it happened. Ever since then, my life has been a damn roller coaster. That was one of the reasons why I didn’t want to be with Hayley. I didn’t want to drag her into my mess; so when Lamar used what happened against me, I was all for it, because I knew then that I couldn’t be with her.”
“What made you change your mind?”
“Why wouldn’t I change my mind? She’s wonderful and now, I’m glad I took a chance to get to know her. She’s a beautiful person, inside and out.”
“Do you regret everything that has happened between you and Lamar?”
“No, I don’t. I would do it all again if I had to just to be with her.”
“So I assume something happened in Dallas, that’s the reason why you’re not with her?”
“Majority of it is. Before heading there, we ran into a problem with a stranger who ended up dead. Hayley was the one who killed him.”
“Wow.”
“I’m sure you have heard worse, Kimbella.”
“Honestly, no. This is pretty intense, Morgan.”
I went on to explain everything that happened, including Paula telling Hayley that she saw her killed that guy in the parking lot to the incident that led to Hayley’s shooting. After I was done, Kimbella had to put down her pen and pad and take a deep breath.
“You have been through a lot, Morgan. Now, I can understand why you needed to get away.”
“It wasn’t because of everything that has happened; it’s because I caused enough problems in Hayley’s life. She deserves better than me.”
“Morgan, you just got dealt with a bad hand in life; that’s all. I’m sure Hayley loves you unconditionally, that’s why she stuck by you for so long. She knew it wasn’t your fault what happened.”
“I feel like it is. I put so many innocent people in my mess and look what happened.”
“No one blaming you for anything, Morgan. Instead, everyone was encouraging you to have a better life, from Lamar to your brother, and Hayley. I really think you need to go back to the people that loves you.”
I sighed and put my head in my hands. It wasn’t that simple.
“Is there another reason why you’re here?”
I looked at her, not knowing if I should tell her what I’m thinking. Even I didn’t want to believe it.
“I don’t think I should say anything.”
“Morgan, you were making great progress. Whatever you have on your mind you need to say it.”
I glanced at her, not believing what I was about to say, but I had to so my conscience could finally be clear.
“I can’t leave because I think my mom is the reason for everything that has happened.”
Kimbella looked confused to what I just said. “What do you mean? I know Craig was her husband, but it wasn’t her fault for what happened.”
“What if I said it was and that she knew exactly what was happening before it even happened.”
“You’re confusing me, Morgan.”
“I think my mom wanted Craig dead and she used me to do it.”
Hayley
It was now Friday and it was opening night for The Palace II. After the week I had, I was ready to put on my sexiest outfit and have some fun. The evening would be even better since I can actually drink now. Now, I don’t have to hide it from Lamar; but knowing him, he’ll probably still try and find a way for me not to.
I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. The skin-tight black dress was definitely making me feel sexy as I turned around. Morgan would have loved me in this. I sighed and went to the bed to sit down. Just the thought of him made my entire mood change.
The door opened and Kyle walked in. I smiled as he gave me one in return. Dressed in a dark blue dress shirt and black slacks, he looked really good. He pulled me up from the bed and gave me a hug.
“It looked as if you needed it.” He said.
I put my head on his chest as he touched my lower back. His hands felt so good on me. I don’t know if it was because I haven’t had none in six months, but damn, he was turning me on right now.
He let go of me and looked at my dress.
“You look good, Hales.”
“Thanks. So do you. Thanks for letting me invite Demetria tonight.”
“No problem. The more people that come, the better.”
“You don’t think your club will be a success? Trust me, it will be.”
“I know, but I’m still nervous. This is how I felt when I opened in Dallas.”
“You’ll do great.”
Kyle looked at me and caressed my shoulder. Before I knew it, I leaned over and kissed him. It was just the way I remembered it.
He tried to resist, but he gave in as he held me closer. He walked me over to the bed as we laid down. His cologne was giving me all types of emotions as he grabbed my waist. At that moment, I wanted him and I knew he was thinking the same for me.
“Fuck me, Kyle.”
As soon as I said those words, he stopped touching me and looked into my eyes.
“What’s wrong?”
“I’m not going to.” He said and got up.
“What? But…”
“Hayley, I’m not going to sleep with you. Believe me, you’re making it hard for me not to, but I can’t.”
I gave a confused look as he sat on the bed. I straighten my dress and sat beside him.
“There’s something I need to tell you.”
I glanced at him as he slowly put my hand into his.
“I saw Morgan a few days ago.”
I stared at him and he put his hand through his fade.
“Say that again. Where did you see him at?”
“He’s at his aunt’s cabin.”
“How long ago did you see him?”
“I just said…”
“Tell me!”
“It was last week. I think he’s been there the entire time. I found out from Doris that he was staying there. He didn’t want me to tell you.”
I quickly got up and went to the door.
“Where are you going?”
“Where do you think? I can’t believe you didn’t tell me this! And to think just a few minutes ago I wanted you to fuck me.”
“Listen, I really like you Hayley, but you’re my brother’s girlfriend. We’re in a good place right now and I wouldn’t want to jeopardize that.”
“You were about to a few minutes ago.”
“That’s why I stopped. I won’t do that to you or to him. I know you still love him and you’re using me to fill that void. You have been for the past six months.”
I wiped a tear that fell down my cheek and sighed.
“Go see him, I’m sure he wants to see you.”
I grabbed my keys and headed to the door; but before I did, I had to confront my brother. If Kyle has been in contact with Morgan, then I know he has been too.
I banged on his bedroom door. When I didn’t get an answer, I started hitting the door until he opened it.
“What
is your damn problem?!”
“Have you been in contact with Morgan?”
He sighed as I began tapping my heel on the carpet.
“Answer me, Lamar! Have you been in contact with Morgan?!”
“Yes.”
“For how long?”
“Since he left the hospital.”
I blinked back tears as I shook my head.
“Why you didn’t tell me?”
“Because he asked me not to. He was only trying to protect you, Hales.”
“What’s going on?” Tamara asked as she came from the bathroom.
“My brother and Kyle has been in contact with Morgan and didn’t tell me.”
“What!”
I shook my head again and went to the door. As I closed it, I let the tears fall. I couldn’t believe those two didn’t tell me that Morgan has been in Texas the entire time. His Aunt Doris’ cabin was an hour away from Thompson, so he could had came by and seen me. But instead, he kept his distance, which literally pissed me off.
I went to my car and got inside. I guess I won’t be going to Kyle’s opening after all. Instead, I needed to see the bastard that used to be my boyfriend.
Morgan
I flipped through the channels on the TV, not seeing anything interesting to watch. All day I have been deciding on whether to go to Kyle’s club opening. I even set out an outfit to wear in case I did want to go, but I couldn’t. Even though I wanted to see Hayley, I couldn’t risk it.
I began to think about the conversations I had with Kyle and Kimbella. What they said made sense, but I knew what I was doing. I was doing what I should had done in the first place and kept my distance from Hayley. If I had done that, she wouldn’t be in the shit that she’s in. Instead, she would be going about her normal life and getting ready to graduate. Since she has been with me, she has killed someone and was almost killed herself. She and I both know we can’t be together. Hopefully she has accepted that and moved on; but based on what Kyle had said, she hasn’t.
I was about to go to my bedroom when there was a knock at the door. I sighed, wondering who that could be. I wasn’t expecting anyone, so I went with my first reaction and grabbed my revolver. I was about to point it at the door when I heard the voice that I never expected to hear.
“Open the damn door, Morgan!”
I dropped the gun, wondering if I should. How did she know I was here? There were two guesses to who could had told her.
“Morgan!”
I opened the door and saw her standing outside. Damn, she looked beautiful. She stood in front of me, looking pissed off and ready to kill me, which honestly, had me turned on.
Before I could say anything, she came up to me and punched me. I thought she would had slapped me, but I should had known she was going to go a different route.
While I was holding the left side of my face she was trying to attack me again. I held her arms as she looked me in my eyes.
“I can’t believe you! After all of this time and you were here, hiding out like some damn coward!”
“Hold up, you know that I only did it to protect you.”
“No you wasn’t! You made me think that you left the state or possibly the country, but you been here, held up in your aunt’s cabin! Does your mom know you’re here?”
“If she does, it wouldn’t had come from me.”
As she was walking into the living room, I had to stare at her ass. I know I shouldn’t be thinking about bending her over and fucking her senseless right now, but that dress she was wearing wasn’t helping me change my thoughts.
She turned around and looked at me. “Really, Morgan!”
“What? I can’t help but to stare at you right now. You look beautiful. But you always were.”
“Why you didn’t contact me, especially since you were so close to me? I had to hear that you were here from Kyle.”
“I’m sorry about that, but Hales, after everything that has happened, I knew that we couldn’t stay together. I told you that at the hospital.”
“Which you didn’t give me an option on. You took it upon yourself to make the decision for the both of us that we shouldn’t be together.”
“You thought that was easy for me to do? To walk away from you? Hales, I have been in love with you for years and when I finally had the chance to be with you, I didn’t think it was possible. Hell, I thought I was dreaming then. When I saw you lying in my arms that day, I knew that I would only cause you more pain if you stayed with me. I don’t want to see you like that again. Instead, I want you to live a normal life and not have to worry about someone trying to hurt you.”
“Isn’t that my decision if I want to be with you? Morgan, I love you and with all the baggage you had, I accepted to be with you. I still choose to be with you, despite what you may think about everything.”
“Hayley…”
“Morgan, we can make this work. You just have to believe that we can.”
I went over to her and grabbed her waist. I held her against me as my fingers went through her hair. I missed everything about her. I knew then that I didn’t want her away from me. The past six months were hell and I knew that I didn’t want to go through that again.
As I kissed her neck, I noticed something unusual about her perfume. It seemed as if it was men’s cologne.
“Baby, are you wearing men’s cologne?”
She moved away from me and stared at me.
“What’s going on, Hales?”
She cleared her throat and sighed. “I might as well be honest about what happened, but I was with Kyle earlier.”
I let go of her as she took a deep breath.
“Nothing happened. We made out, that was it.”
“After that damn pep talk he gave, I knew he was still going to do this! Son of a bitch!”
“Stop it! I said nothing happened. We stopped before anything even started.”
“Who stopped it? You or him.”
“Morgan…”
“Answer the question. Did he or did you stop it?”
“It was him, but once I found out that he knew you were here, I quickly came.”
“So if you didn’t know I was here and if he was willing, you would had fucked him.”
“Don’t do this, Morgan.”
“Do what? I’m just asking a question.”
“So now you’re going to turn the tables on me. Let’s not go back to the fact that you told me in my hospital bed that you were leaving me and wasn’t coming back. Let’s not get to the fact that my brother and yours knew that you were here but no one informed me that you were. It was just one damn kiss, Morgan! That's not even an issue compared to what you have done to me.”
I laughed. “You have got to be kidding me! Don’t justify the fact that you were going to have sex with someone else.”
“Yes, I was, because you weren’t around! You left me, Morgan! You left me while I was laying in a hospital bed just waking up from a fucking coma! How could you do that shit to me?!”
“I’m sorry, Hayley.”
“You know what, you can stay in this fucking cabin and stay miserable for the rest of your damn life. I’m out.” She said as she was going to the door.
I wasn’t going to let her leave. Now that she’s here, she wasn’t going to disappear out of my life again.
She opened the door, but I slammed it. Before she could protest, I pressed her body against it while my hand went down her waist. I moved my lips to her ear, slowly kissing her.
“I shouldn’t had walked out on you. For that, I’m sorry. I’ll keep apologizing to you until the day I take my last breath. I love you and I always will. That will never change. Do you still love me?”
“You know I do, Morgan.” She said through ragged breath.
“Show me how much.”
She turned around and I picked her up. She held onto me as she kissed my lips.
Instead of going to the bed, I made a detour to the bathroom. I leaned her against the wall as I turned o
n the shower. She took off my clothes and stared at my body.
“You know how many nights I dreamt of you and your body?” she asked.
“I can imagine. I did the same with you.”
“I’m sure you didn’t do some of the things that I’d done.”
I smiled. “Well, you don’t have to do that much longer, unless I can watch.”
Hayley smiled as I pulled down her dress. She stepped out, wearing a black and white lace bra and matching thong. But what really had me was the fishnet stocking she had on. Fuck the shower, I had to have her now.
I laid her down on the floor and she gave me a seductive glance before I went inside her. As soon as we connected, we both moaned. I pulled down her bra and my tongue went around her nipple. She held on to me as our bodies moved at the same rhythm. Shit, I missed this. The way she felt, the looks she gave; I’ll probably lose control before we even got into it.
My hand went down her leg as I pulled it up to my shoulder. She leaned her head back as she felt every inch of me going in and out of her.
“Shit, Morgan!”
“Say my name again, baby.”
“Morgaannn!”
I knew we were both about to reach our moment when her walls tighten around me. She screamed as I came inside of her. She looked at me and I smiled.
“That was not how I expected our make-up sex to be, but it was still good.” Hayley said.
“It was better than good, baby.”
She smiled as she pulled me to her. “Well, I think we have some more time to make-up on, don’t we?”
I smiled and kissed her. I pulled her back up as we stepped into the shower. She was definitely right about that.
Hayley
I snuggled against Morgan as I was still shocked that I was with him. After six months of not knowing where he was or what he was doing, he was actually near me. Although he went about it the wrong way, I could understand why he did it. But he also had to understand that I could handle my own. Hell, since I’ve been with him, I can say that I’ve been doing that pretty well.
His hands were roaming my body as they rested on my ass. He kissed the side of my neck and smiled.
“There’s a lot I want to say to you right now.” I said.
