by Rodion Pretis

“It's your happiness that you got air seed,” the bellboy said gloomily, in a muffled voice.

  Wayne laughed.

  - I would have done without him. There were ten more ways to deal with you. This knife has a molecular vibration blade. Just press a button and it will cut anything like soft cheese. I could tear you to pieces and lower you down the drain.

The corridor raised his head, his face turned pale, the pupils dilated.

“But now there's no time for that,” Wayne consoled him. - Let there be air seed.

  - Ah, that's how you let me out - cut the jug with this knife! - guessed the bellboy.

  - What? Well, yes, of course, ”Wayne answered, carefully watching a piece of graphite. Has he changed or not?

“I'm a little disappointed,” Wayne said absently. “I thought you would resist.” In my opinion, the tales of marraches greatly exaggerate their dignity.

“Everything is ready, sir,” the bellboy put in. “Please take your diamond and let me out of here.”

  Wayne squinted.

  - But it seems to me that nothing is ready.

“He's only black outside, sir.” Rub it, that's all.

  Wayne did not move.

“What are you, sir?” - said the bellboy insistently. - Take it in your hands and - make sure.

“You are suspiciously impatient,” said Wayne.

He took a fountain pen from his pocket and cautiously poked it into graphite. Nothing happened; the block rolled easily across the table. Wayne briefly touched her with one finger, then squeezed it in his hand.

  - Besides jokes? He asked mockingly. He threw a lump in the palm of his hand, estimated the weight, put it back. Black spots appeared on the palm of his hand.

Wayne opened the knife and cut the graphite in half. He split into two gleaming black pieces.

“Graphite,” Wayne summed up and angrily tossed the knife onto the table.

Wiping his hands, he turned to the corridor.

“I don't understand you,” he said, and he touched the parcel of air-seed. Then he began to unfold the package.

“You only did that you were taking time.” I had a better opinion of you.

A dirty white lump appeared from under the wrapper.

Wayne swung to throw this ball into the pitcher and saw the frightened face of the bellboy. He hesitated for a moment, and meanwhile the grayish-white fiber of the air seed foamed in his hand. Wayne instinctively tried to drop the bundle, but it failed. The foamy, billowing mass was sticky - it stuck to the palm of the hand, then to the sleeve. And she slowly but irresistibly grew.

Vane, gray with horror, furiously waved his hand, trying to shake off the seed. The mass flew down in flakes, like a thick soapy foam, but did not separate from the hand. Some flakes splattered the trouser leg and stuck to it. Others, swelling, dripped onto the carpet. Wayne's right hand and side were covered with a thick layer of white foam. The mass stopped growing and began to harden.

The corridor began to swing the jug from the inside. The jug fell to its side. The corridor continued to rock him. The jug slowly crawled along the carpet.

A little later, the corridor stopped swinging, looked out of the jug and looked in which direction it was moving. Wayne, who was riveted to the place with an air seed, leaned over to the table and, straining, tried to reach his knife with his free hand. He would have pulled the carpet along with him if it weren't for the amount of furniture on it.

The corridor pulled his head inside the jug and began to sway again, this time even more. When he looked out again, Wayne stood with his eyes closed tightly, and his face turned red with effort. Wayne leaned on the table as much as he could, but for some two or three centimeters did not reach the knife. The corridor swayed with all its might. The jug slowly crawled forward, stopped at the table itself and pressed Wayne's hand to it.

The corridor stopped swinging and looked around. Caught in a trap, the earthling stopped all attempts and looked down. He jerked his hand, but did not free himself.

“Pat,” Wayne announced grimly. He smiled at the bellboy. “The elbow is close, but you cannot bite.” I won't reach you. And you won't do anything to me.

The corridor bowed his head, as if in agreement, but suddenly a long dark hand swiftly flew out of the jug. The fingers of the hallway closed over a small but formidable weapon.

“Marrack can raise his hand above his head,” he said.
