"Maybe," Aislyn said cautiously. "That still doesn’t change the fact that the colony needs money. I have none."

"I know. I’m not sure how, but we’ll work it out. Nearly losing you has made me realize what’s important in life. It sure as hell isn’t anything to do with the colony’s coffers."

"Do we have to marry straight away? Could we not ... approach this slowly?" She wanted to give him plenty of time to think this through.

Seamus leaned over her and pressed a gentle kiss to her sun burnt lips. "Hell’s teeth, I love you, Aislyn O’Sullivan. You can break any damned rule you like. But I warn you, I’m going to wear you down. You’ll be so weak with love, you won’t have the energy to break rules."

Aislyn felt a grin tug at her mouth, but she battled the bloom of hope. She tried for meek in the voice department. "If you say so, Seamus."

"I do." Seamus rubbed his knuckles across her cheek, sending messages of instant lust to her brain. The tender look on his face made hope burst into an extravaganza of promise and confidence. Aislyn wondered how long it would be before they could leave the hospital. She wanted privacy--lots of privacy with this stubborn, determined male.

"You’re going to be the best first lady this colony has ever had," Seamus growled.

Aislyn gurgled. "Have you told the board? Murphy?"

Seamus grinned then--a slow, sexy smile that made her toes curl, her stomach plunge. "Not yet," he murmured. "I thought you’d want to be there."

"You have a wicked streak in you, Seamus Gallagher."

"It’s you." Seamus drew her close so her cheek rested against his chest. "You make me laugh. You keep me honest." He dipped his head to kiss her gently. "I love you. You make me whole."
