He continued to stare at the paperwork, his hands on his hips. “Maybe you should take some time to think about it.”

“I’ve already had plenty of time to think about it. Just sign it.” I opened the drawer and pulled out the small black box. When I opened the lid, I saw the black diamond ring that I wanted to give to Rome. She wouldn’t be my submissive, but I wanted her to wear it anyway. It was the one compromise she could give me, that I would still possess her in my world even if I was no longer in it. I placed it in my pocket then pushed the pen closer to my brother. “Come on, man. I’ve got somewhere to be.”

“So, you’re going vanilla?” he asked. “Once and for all.”

I hoped it would be forever. “Yes.”

“And you want to give me Ruin?” He repeated the questions like I wasn’t sure what I was agreeing to.

“Jackson, I’m not an idiot. Just sign the papers, and let’s move on.”

He finally grabbed the pen and added his name to the dotted line. He signed all the paperwork then returned it to the desk, his shoulders sagging slightly with his newfound responsibility. “I wish you the best of luck, man. I hope she’s worth it.”

I still couldn’t believe she’d broken me. I’d never bent so far for any woman in my life. I’d always just put my offer on the table, and if they didn’t take it, they could walk away. But Rome changed who I was, in both good and bad ways. I’d never met a woman so strong, so capable. She stole all my attention, made me want to part with my old ways just so I could keep her. If I felt this strongly about her, perhaps I needed to listen to the advice my mother gave me. “She is.”
