  “Tye...” I urged.

“Jesus, I want to.” He looked around the room. “I gotta find the condoms.”

I gripped his shoulders. “We could…”

  “You on birth control?”

We hadn’t had time for this conversation. “No,” My brain was starting to click on. I needed to think about what I was saying and not let my need rule my decisions.

He shook his head, and his messy hair curled around his shoulders. “Billie, we need to think about the ramifications, okay?” He closed his eyes for a minute. “The thing is, I want to be inside of you. I love it that you want me inside of you. But if you let me inside of you bareback, I’m never wearing a condom again.”

I needed to be smart, not carried away in the heat of the moment. “I should go to the doctor.”

He smiled. “Yeah babe. I’ll go with you if you want.”

I returned his smile, but no. There was nothing attractive about lying on the exam table with your feet in those stirrups.

“I mean, birth control, babies, I’m in it with you.” He kissed me.

“Babies?” I liked the sound of that, but it was too soon.

“With my looks and your brains, our kids will be unstoppable.” He kissed me again with more heat.

I gave into the kiss. Any thoughts about kids left my head as I felt my need for Tye grow.

“We can do other things...” Tye growled.

“Okay.” I wanted more. I wanted to give him more.

He rolled us so that he was on his back, and I was sprawled over his chest. “Jack me off, baby.”

I shifted so that I was leaning on my side, and I could see his amazing body. Since I had followed him into the bedroom when he arrived home, the lights were on. I wanted to watch as I touched him. “Show me.” I ran my hand lightly down his abs, and I felt the line of hair below his belly button. I followed it with my fingernail. When I reached his wiry pubic hair, I twisted my wrist and gripped his cock. I slowly ran my hand upward to the tip, and then over the head.

Tye let out a loud breath.

I smoothed the wetness from the tip all over the head. I loved the silky skin covering so much strength. I gripped him and started to move my hand up and down.

“Faster, yeah, that’s it,” Tye was breathing hard as he stared intently at my hand.

I worried I might be hurting him when he covered my hand with his. Together, we gripped his cock more tightly.

I loved the sounds he made deep in his throat. I clenched my thighs together. I felt empty.

“So close, so close.” He increased our speed.

“Tye.” I looked at his face. It took him a second to focus on me. “I want you to come on me.”

He moved fast. Suddenly, I was on my back, and he was kneeling over me. “Christ,” he groaned as ropes off cum covered my belly and the curve of my breasts.

He looked like an avenging angel, so fierce and beautiful.

He dropped back onto his heels as I rubbed his cum into my skin. I took extra time to paint my breasts. Then I licked my fingers.

He was watching me with total focus. I loved it. I felt sexy and so powerful.

“Billie, Christ, you’re so beautiful.” He dropped to his hands in a push-up move, above me.

“Did I do all right?” This was new territory for me. Sure I’d read plenty of sex scenes, but these things... I just did them. I didn’t plan or think.

He chuckled and smoothed my hair back. “Yeah honey, you did good.”

I knew I had a huge smile on my face.

Slowly, Tye rolled us so that we were on our sides, face to face. I pushed my leg between his thighs and cuddled closer to his body heat.

“Any regrets, worries?” he asked tentatively.

“I attacked you. Maybe I should ask you the same.” He hadn’t taken the time to shower at the gym. As soon as he’d stripped off his still-damp T-shirt, I’d been on him, kissing his chest, running my hands over his back and ass.

“Yeah, that was just terrible. I hate having your mouth on me.” I could see the amusement in his eyes. Then they turned serious. “I didn’t move too fast or push you, did I?”

“No. I wanted to do all of that. Hell, I want to do it all again.” I shifted my body against his.

I could see the relief in his eyes.

I didn’t want us to have this conversation before or after every time we did anything. I ran my hand up and down his arm. “I promise to say something if I feel pushed or nervous.” I then looped that hand around his shoulder. “But I loved everything we did tonight.”

“I swear, you’re the best.” He kissed me. “I’m going to start the shower. Give it a few to heat up, and then come in. Maybe I’ll show you some things we can do in there.” He rolled out of bed, and I ogled his naked form as he walked to the bathroom.

  Chapter Thirty-Two

  Billie

I hurried into the restaurant and saw that Zoe and Layla were already seated. This was our first outing since Lucy’s birth, and I was eager to spend some girl time with my friends. For a moment I admired their good looks. Layla’s hair had new golden highlights and was cut in a layered bob that brushed her shoulders. Zoe’s dark brown hair was pulled back in some kind of messy bun.

“Everything go okay?” Layla asked as I neared the table.

“According to the doctor, all of my girly parts appear to be in working order.” I took off my coat and folded it over the empty chair.

“They should offer a glass of wine after the exam. I always feel awkward when they want to talk after feeling me up.” Zoe opened her menu.

“Serving alcohol is probably against some law but it might help,” I giggled and then changed the subject. “What’s good here?”

“Who cares?” Layla opened the menu and started to check out the offerings. “I’m just glad to be out for an afternoon. I plan on having a drink and enjoy being a grown-up.”

“Unless there’s a baby emergency, I think we should check out the shops down the block,” Zoe suggested.

“What kind of shops?” Layla asked suspiciously.

Zoe didn’t answer. She seemed engrossed in her menu.

“I saw a lingerie store and a clothing store.” I tried to recall what I’d passed. I’d parked a block away in this little artsy district.

“I could look at the lingerie.” Layla giggled. Now, she was paying attention.

Zoe eyed me. “I figure that you’ll need things for the holiday party season. I’m sure Tye will be taking you with him to all of the parties.”

I looked at Zoe then at Layla, “He hasn’t said anything about parties.”

“You’d better ask him,” Layla said. “You know men. They think we have a vast selection of cocktail dresses in our closets.”

“Talk to him or his admin, and then call Ramsay for help.” Zoe tilted her head and gave a feline smile. “I love the three dresses in the photos she sent. I’m really impressed.”

I bit my lip. “I need to check with her about her travel plans. So, what’s happening Thanksgiving weekend?”

The waiter arrived and took our orders. After my drink arrived and the ladies got refills, the conversation resumed.

“We’re going to Tony’s brother’s, but we’ll be back on Sunday.” Zoe frowned. “Early on Sunday.”

Layla patted her hand. “You can survive the meal on Thursday, and then you’ll wake up and look out your cabin windows at your beautiful view.”

Zoe rolled her eyes. “I love our place, but Tony’s side of the family is a lot to take. They’ll be full of questions about Tony’s future, and then I’ll get plenty of advice concerning how to raise Livy.”

“You can always hide in the bathroom and text me,” I told my friend. “The hostess I’m dealing with won’t let me do anything to help,” I grumbled and looked pointedly at Layla.

“It’s not me,” she cried. “I swear. It’s my son. He wants to run everything.”

  “I don’t buy it.” I told her w
ith a straight face. “If you looked at Forde, batted your lashes, and told him I want to contribute, he’d let me help with the cooking and tell Ryan to suck it.”

Layla held up her hands in surrender. “Okay, you can make a side.”

“Two sides,” I pressed, “and a dessert.”

Layla looked pointedly at Zoe. “Remember when she was quiet and shy?”

“Living with an attorney must have taught her to speak up.” Zoe smirked.

“So, how are things with Tye?” Layla made this sound like a casual question.

“Details!” Zoe demanded, not even trying to conceal her curiosity.

I couldn’t help my sappy smile. “Things are good.”

  They leaned in, waiting.

I leaned over the table to whisper, “I just got a script for the pill. I’m happy, and I think he is, too.”

“Duh.” Layla laughed. “He’s smiling every time I see him.”

Zoe’s smile didn’t dim, but her expression softened. “So, the boy’s good, but what about you? Any issues?”

“I had a nightmare last night, but I went back to sleep. For me, that’s epic.” I shrugged. Tye had woken me up, and after kissing me, we both fell back asleep.

“If I’m making you uncomfortable stop me,” Layla said. “Have you two talked about how fast to move? I mean, Tye, has a reputation for having a healthy sexual appetite.”

I dropped my gaze and refolded my napkin.

Zoe pressed her hand against the back of mine. “It’s okay. You don’t have to talk about it.”

While things were going great with Tye, I knew I could use some wise counsel. These ladies had been right where I was, falling in love with a strong male and feeling just a little overwhelmed. I raised my head.

Layla nodded, letting me know she was in agreement with Zoe. “No pressure,” she said.

“No, it’s okay.” I cleared my throat quietly. “I’ve never had girlfriends that I could talk with about this stuff. I have Ramsay but she doesn’t know Tye, and she’s not here.”

“Well then, talk away.” Layla wiggled her eyebrows.

“Yeah, tell us as much or as little as you want.” Zoe moved her chair closer to mine.

“When we met with my therapist, she recommended we use a safe word in case I needed to slow things down.”

“Oh, kinky.” Layla winked at me.

I snorted as I tried to hold back a laugh. “Not yet. I think it helps Tye more than me. So far, I’ve been so into...things, I haven’t wanted to him to stop.” I let my gaze fall away, before plunging forward with my biggest concern. “I’m learning as we go.” When I looked up both ladies were giving me knowing smiles. “What?”

Zoe looked at Layla, and then me. “I’ll go first. My ex-husband was also my first lover. I met him in college, and then after we divorced, there was Tony.” Her smile was sweet. “There were a lot of sexual things I wasn’t even aware of—until Tony.”

Layla blushed and took a sip of her drink before she shared. “Like Zoe and you, I wasn’t very experienced. I think Forde liked that.”

“Tye will teach you things, and I bet he’ll enjoy the hell out of helping you learn.” Zoe giggled. “I know this because Tony was the same way.”

  “We watch porn,” Layla blurted.

“You do?” I was a little surprised and intrigued. “Together?”

“Yeah.” She lowered her voice. “If I see something I want to try, we do it.”

  Zoe practically purred, “That’s hot.”

“I might steal your idea.” I tried to think about how to bring it up to Tye.

“If you do, and there’s a theme like naughty school girls, then you might want to consider dressing up,” Layla advised in the same tone that we discussed recipes. “It can make things…interesting.” Then her laugh was pure pleasure.

“Yeah, Tony and I, we like it rough. You know he pushes me against the wall or over the arm of the sofa. I love it when he gets in from work and is all aggressive and growly.” Zoe closed her eyes and shivered.

“Forde’s demanding. I like it,” Layla shared. “The whole bossy thing totally works for me.”

I felt like I could talk to my friends since they were sharing freely. “Tye is being really careful.” I rushed to explain after I heard my words. “I like it... He’s very thoughtful and giving...”

“But...” Zoe prompted, “’cause I definitely hear a ‘but’.”

“It’s good. I mean, really good.” I didn’t want to sound unhappy or unappreciative. “But, physically, I’m not fragile. Or at least, I don’t think I’ll be with him.”

Zoe and Layla exchanged looks. Layla spoke. “You’ll have to talk to him. He puts you first, so I’m sure he’s being extra cautious. I remember the night you told us about Florida, it was like he saw you in a different light, and he wanted to walk that path with you. No, it was more like he wanted to clear it for you, so that you could have an easier way.”

  “He was worried about me.”

“That might have been a part of it. We were all worried about you. However, Tye has always put himself first, but suddenly, he put you there.” Zoe looked at me as if she was checking to see how I was handling her honesty. “Poor Tye, he fell in love without even knowing it. I’m happy for him. For a guy like him, it’s probably better if he didn’t think about every step.”

My throat was tight as I said softy, “I never thought I’d be this happy.”

“Damn, is it too early to drink champagne?” Layla frowned as she glanced at her wrist.

“I figure there’s going to be a really slim window for her to imbibe before she gets knocked up again.” Zoe looked at me, “So we might want to humor her.”

I spotted the waiter and ordered a bottle.

Thankfully all the eating that I had done over Thanksgiving hadn’t affected my measurements. Ramsay was in our bedroom, packing up the discarded dresses she’d brought for all of us to try on. She was carefully placing the gown in tissue. “Are there any ugly men in this town?”

“Sure, but we don’t hang with them.” I folded my leg under my ass as I settled into the loveseat against the far wall.

  “Yeah, we’re discerning.” Zoe giggled.

Ramsay stopped fiddling with the dress and straightened. “Well, I have to hand it to you all. You did really well.” She was still in her stylist mode and was focused on packing up the huge trunk she used to transport her wares. She was dressed in a black silky tunic and leggings with a stiletto-heeled boot. Her currently red hair was pulled back severely in a French twist, which showed off the huge emeralds in her ears.

“We have a few nice ones who are still single...” Layla dangled the offer.

  Ramsay resumed working, staying quiet.

“You should consider coming back for the party.” I hoped the others would jump on this bandwagon. “Think how much fun we could have.”

My oldest friend groaned. “I’m thinking about it. I made plans to meet my sister and her family in Banff.” She placed the gown in the trunk.

“The invitation’s there, and on the first, everybody’s invited to our place for food, football, and hangover remedies.” Layla was sitting on the floor with her legs stretched out in front of her, wiggling her toes. “It’s going to be my last time to drink for a while, again. I told Forde I thought we should work on baby number two in the new year.”

“What did he say to that?” Zoe ran her fingers through her newly styled hair. It was shorter and fell into layers around her face.

“You know Forde. He said it was my body, my decision.” Layla shrugged.

“Sounds like a good man.” Ramsay joined us and dropped onto the space next to me.

“We all have good men. Maybe they’re a little bossy sometimes, but there are ways to work around that.” Zoe’s lips tipped up in a secretive smile.

“So, tell me about Tye. Is he good enough for my Billie?” Ramsay looked from Zoe and Layla.

I had known this was coming, and
I didn’t try to stop her. She was the one who’d taken care of me and protected me after the attack. Not my mother, it had been Ramsay. So she’d earned the right to ask questions and get answers.

“Yeah, without a doubt,” said Zoe.

Layla flashed a confident smile at the redhead. “I know Tye pretty well. Before Billie, he was a bit of a man-whore, but all of that is behind him. He loves her. I have zero doubts.”

Ramsay turned her hazel eyes on me. “So, he’s good for you?”

“Of course he is.” I frowned at her. “I wouldn’t be with him if he wasn’t. I’m in a good place, Ramses. I’m making progress. I’m stronger. I’m all those things on my own, but with Tye in my life, it seems like everything is better and runs more smoothly.”

Her smile said how happy she was for me. “And he’s gorgeous.”

“That he is.” I made a toasting action with my bottle of water. “With Tye, I can sleep. It’s because I know he’s there to protect me and help me if I have a problem.” I paused to think about how to word this next part. “He takes care of me, and he does it so naturally, I don’t think he even knows how much he does. I’m still getting used to some of it. It’s a big change, thinking about a future that now includes another person. It’s overwhelming and amazingly good.”

“And you wouldn’t trade it for anything,” Ramsay mused.

Our gazes met, and I saw a flash of emotion there that made my heart hurt a little for her. “No trade,” I said, reassuring her.

We were quiet for a few moments.

Layla changed the subject. “Just keep in mind Ramsay, that you need to make sure she looks sexy and gorgeous for every party.” Layla gave a feline smile. “She’s going to run into some of Tye’s former…woman friends.”

Ramsay raised her eyebrows and shot me a glance. “You okay with that?”

I shrugged. “I can’t change the past. Tye was with a lot of women. I had a reporter show up who wants to do a story about my past, and a mother who sees me as a way to make her acting dreams come true. We both have baggage.”

“I was going to wait to bring that up, but since you did…” Ramsay looked uncertain.
