Sound of Heartache ( Sound of Book 2)

“I can see how wet you are,” he told her. Her eyes flew up to his and a flush covered her cheekbones. “Baby, that just means it’ll fit.” She nodded, keeping her eyes on his.
“You can see that?” She asked, her voice quivering. Brent leaned forward and dragged a finger through her pubic hair, slicking the wetness onto his finger. He slipped it into his mouth and licked her off his finger. The salty sweetness tasted like heaven to him. This was his Aimee spread out before him, his Aimee he was tasting for the first time.
“Fuck yes I can,” he said. He brought his fingers back down to her and spread her wide open. Plunging his head down between her legs, he took a long, slow lick from her ass to the top of her clit. Her thighs tightened around his head and she groaned. Holding her open with his hands, he pushed his tongue into her, circling it around inside her. He sucked her wetness onto his tongue and moaned. He’d never tasted something so addicting.
“Brent!” She gasped, her entire body shaking around him. The tremors told him she was close. He wanted to push her over that edge before sliding into her sweet body for the first time.
“Let go, baby, and come for me.” He pulled her clit into his mouth and sucked hard. He gently pushed a finger into her slick heat and her walls immediately clamped down around him. His dick was aching to be inside her and he was making a mess of his sheets he was leaking so badly. He very gently scraped his teeth over her swollen clit and her back bowed off the bed, her body rhythmically squeezing his finger. She cried out as he flicked the tip of her clit and then licked it with the flat of his tongue, bringing her slowly down from her high.
Keeping his finger pressed inside her, Brent fumbled around his nightstand for a condom. He ripped the packet open with his teeth and hastily covered his dick, all while keeping up the rocking motion of his finger inside her. He doubted she even realized her hips were moving in time with him. Her eyes looked drugged as they opened and blinked slowly at him. He leaned down to kiss her passionately, knowing she could taste herself on his lips.
“I still want you inside me,” she whispered, her cheeks flushed. “Please, Brent. Don’t make me beg.” He slipped his finger out of her and gathered her body close to his, the broad head of his cock lined up at her opening. He could feel her wetness and heat even through the layer of latex.
“You’ll never have to beg me for this,” he vowed. He pushed slowly and steadily inside her as she wrapped her legs around him. She used the strength of her legs to push herself up against him, impaling herself, his balls resting against her ass. “Oh, fuck!” He gasped. The heat of her felt incredible.
Brent knew he wasn’t going to last. Aimee’s sweetness, the feeling of her clamping down around him, was a heady thing. She was incredibly tight and he knew they’d be having a heart to heart later about lying through omission. There was no way Aimee had ever been with anyone else and knowing he was her first was enough to push him over the edge. He buried his face in her neck as he pumped his hips, emptying his release into the condom. Her arms were wrapped tightly around him and her breathing was just as ragged as his.
After several heartbeats, he slowly slid out of her. It was impossible to miss her gasp and he was sure she was feeling a little raw. He kissed her lips quickly and rolled out of the bed. He moved into the bathroom and disposed of the condom. He wasn’t surprised to see the traces of blood there. He grabbed a washcloth and wet it down. Re-entering the bedroom, he noticed she had curled up on her side. He dropped to his knees beside her and gently pressed her onto her back.
“Let me take care of you baby.” Aimee’s legs slowly relaxed and he carefully cleaned her. “Why didn’t you tell me?” He could feel her stiffen back up under his hands.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered. He pressed a kiss to her bare leg.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for. I just wish I’d known.” He wasn’t sure what he would have done differently if he’d known. Maybe he would’ve tried to reign himself in a little. What he did know was Aimee deserved the very best.
“I was afraid you wouldn’t want me if you knew,” she admitted quietly. His gaze shot to hers.
“Oh, Aimee,” he sighed as he gathered her in his arms. Her arms wrapped around his body and she burrowed her face into his chest. “Nothing could ever make me not want you.”
CHAPTER TEN
Brent pushed his way through the crowded room searching for Aimee. They had taken their biology final earlier in the day and with Aimee’s patient tutoring he was sure he had passed with flying colors. They were out celebrating the end of the semester, along with what felt like the rest of the school. Aimee had wanted to try this place and Brent was all for trying anything new. He wasn’t sure why he was surprised that she was so adventurous, but this place was some kind of cross between a restaurant and a dive and not where he would’ve pictured Aimee wanting to go. When he verbalized his thoughts to her, she mentioned they had live music every Friday and Saturday and you didn’t need to be twenty-one to get in.
He finally spotted her sitting at a small table, smiling and nodding her head to the rhythm of the music playing over the speakers. The band wasn’t set to go on for another half hour so it was a good time to grab some food and relax before the party really got going. As he approached the table, a waitress stopped by and dropped off two plates. Brent’s heart expanded in his chest. Aimee had ordered for him knowing he wouldn’t have had time to eat before coming here after his last final. He noticed more and more that she was always doing thoughtful little things, not just for him but for everyone around her.
“Hey beautiful,” he said as he slid into the seat across from her. Her eyes flew up to meet his and she smiled widely.
“Hey yourself, handsome.” Aimee reached across the table and squeezed his hand before returning it to pick up her fork. Brent took a large bit out of his chicken burger and moaned. The place might look like a dive but the food was fantastic.
“Hopefully the live music is as good as the food.” He told her in between bites. She nodded enthusiastically.
“It’s supposed to be two guys. One’s a vocalist and the other plays guitar. I heard they’ve played here before and they’re really good.” Brent didn’t say anything but he guessed he and Aimee probably had pretty different ideas about what ‘good’ sounded like. He knew he was a music snob and tried hard not to let it impact his enjoyment of sitting and listening to other musicians perform. Sometimes he couldn’t help himself from an inner monologue of critiquing the performance. He was going to try his best not to put Aimee through that tonight, though.
Brent had learned a lot about Aimee during the last nine weeks. Once he’d broken down and given into his craving for her, they had become nearly inseparable. They never interfered with what the other was doing, instead just spent time doing their own thing in the presence of the other. She was a great friend to have and now that he’d added lover into the mix, he didn’t see himself getting tired of her anytime soon. In fact, the more he was around her the more he realized he didn’t want things with her to end. Like, ever. He knew it was stupid to be having thoughts about forever at nineteen but he genuinely felt that way about Aimee.
They ate in relative silence, with the cacophony of the restaurant providing background noise. Brent loved how Aimee dug into her food with gusto. She wasn’t afraid to eat in front of him and she appreciated a good meal. So many girls pretended disinterest in food around guys and Aimee’s obvious enjoyment of her burger just reinforced how different she was. He also appreciated the fact that Aimee didn’t feel the need to fill the silence with unnecessary words. She appreciated a good, comfortable silence as much as he did.
“Do you really have to go home for winter break?” He asked as soon as he was finished with his chicken burger. He knew he was close to whining but he couldn’t help it. He was going to miss the hell out of her while she was home in San Francisco. He had plans to visit his own parents in Dana Point over the break, but that was only a couple hour driv
e, if that.
Aimee nodded glumly, setting down her burger. “We’ve got some family stuff going on. Plus, it’s my first break after my first semester of college. My parents made it clear that they expect me home. I want to see them. I do. Just not for the whole five weeks we’re off!” Aimee was clearly exasperated and Brent couldn’t blame her. His parents were really easy going and didn’t place a load of expectations on him. He loved them for it and couldn’t imagine having parents like hers. Every time Brent overheard a phone conversation between Aimee and one of her parents it made him appreciate his mom and dad all that much more.
“We’ll talk every day.” He vowed to her. When she came back from break, he was going to suggest moving in together. She loved Eric and the three of them hung out whenever Eric wasn’t out doing whatever it was that Eric did. Brent had talked to Eric about his idea and even though Brent had seen an uneasy look cross Eric’s face, he’d jumped on board right away. He hoped his suggestion wouldn’t scare Aimee off. He didn’t think it would but he was in completely unfamiliar territory with all of this.
Brent leaned back in his chair as the waitress cleared out their dishes and brought them over fresh sodas. As soon as the plates were gone, he moved his chair so he was sitting side by side with Aimee. She immediately put her hand in his, lacing their fingers together. Their position put them facing the stage and they watched as some of the restaurant employees helped set up a mic and amplifier.
A tall dude who was seriously ripped was plugging in his guitar and another guy with the beginnings of a tattoo sleeve was adjusting the microphone. They looked like a mismatched pair, but the way they moved fluidly around the stage meant they worked well together and had done this more than once. Brent was intrigued despite his earlier misgivings. His interest increase as the tattooed guy took the microphone and lifted his face toward the crowded room. Brent had studied bands and recording artists for a long time and this guy had one of the most essential things for success – a great face. Without a good-looking front man, a lot of bands really struggled.
“What the fuck is up, San Diego!” The singer yelled. The crowd yelled back, and the mood in the room shifted immediately to one of buzzed energy. Definitely a good sign. The guitarist strummed a few notes on his guitar, and without any further introduction, they launched into a song. Brent felt a smile begin to stretch across his face. These guys were his age, maybe a couple of years older. And they were really good. He realized he was sitting on the edge of his seat, grinning like an idiot.
“That guitarist, he’s good!” Aimee yelled at him. He could hardly hear her over the sound of the music and the noise of the crowd. He nodded, not bothering to yell back. “You’re better!” She yelled again, smiling.
Brent had to laugh. Aimee was incredibly supportive of his music. He wasn’t modest, he knew he had incredible talent but it was still nice to hear from someone whose opinion he actually cared about.
“I’ve gotta get Eric over here!” He yelled at her. Aimee’s eyes lit with understanding and she nodded while pulling out her cell phone. She held up Eric’s contact info so Brent could see what she was doing and began typing quickly. There was no way Eric would be able to hear her if she tried calling so texting was the only way.
“Thanks!” He yelled. She stuffed her phone back in her pocket and smiled sweetly at him, nodding. She squeezed his hand.
He and Aimee listened to three more cover songs before he saw Eric’s tall, lanky form pushing through the crowd. Brent stood so Eric could see him over the throng of people and waved him down. When he finally got over to the table he looked wild eyed but he was smiling.
“I got groped like five times on the way to your table and goosed fuckin’ once!” He yelled. Aimee laughed and Brent couldn’t help but join in. Eric pulled a face before finding a chair and dropping into it. His head bobbed in time with the music and his eyes fixated on the stage. Brent knew he’d been right to call Eric. These guys were good but even more importantly, he could see himself and Eric fitting right in with them.
When the duo took a break a song later, Eric stood and looked at Brent in expectation. Brent leaned toward Aimee.
“Will you be alright if Eric and I go talk to these guys?” He asked. He no longer had to shout, but it was still crazy loud. Aimee waved her hand in a shooing gesture and smiled at him. He stood up and he and Eric slowly pushed their way through the tightly packed bodies. They waited impatiently for some fan girls to clear out of the way, which took a while. These guys had already developed a decent following among women, which wasn’t surprising considering how they both looked. Brent was finally able to see past the girls to the lead singer and squeezed his way through to the front. The singer’s gaze flashed to his and Brent jolted at the unusually bright blue of his eyes. He looked really intense.
“Hey dude. I’m Brent. Awesome performance.” He said, and thrust out his hand. The singer eyed him before offering his own hand, his grip firm.
“Sorry, bro. I don’t swing that way. Flattered though.” The voice was raspy and low. Brent gave a startled laugh, not in the least offended by the assumption. He was pretty sure this was the first time anyone had ever assumed he was gay.
“Not here for that man,” he assured the singer, grinning.
“You sure about that? I saw you staring while I was up on stage.” The singer didn’t sound cocky, he sounded more curious than anything else.
“My friend Eric and I are musicians. We’ve been looking for a couple of talented guys with the right vibe and we think you and your guitarist might be those guys.” He got a pierced eyebrow cocked at him.
“No shit?” The laid-back attitude was gone and in its place was excitement. “Let me get your cell number so I can call you this weekend. We aren’t opposed to expanding and taking ourselves a little further on the scene.” Brent felt excitement course through him as he rattled off his number while the guy punched it into his phone. He might be getting a blow-off, but it didn’t feel that way to him. This guy seemed excited about the possibility.
“Eric’s on drums. I’m versatile. I can pretty much play anything so I’ll fill in wherever fits best.” Brent’s voice was confident and he hoped like hell this guy followed through.
“Versatile. Interesting word. You do know you’re speaking gay man talk, right?” He winked at Brent and Brent found himself smiling again. This guy was damn funny. “I’m Jack and the muscle head behind me is Jacob.” Jacob held out a large hand, and Brent shook it. Jacob didn’t do the typical muscle-head asshole move by rolling Brent’s hand and he knew there was more to this guy than people realized.
“I’ll let you get back up on stage. It was good meeting you.” He started to turn away as Jack began typing on his phone again. He didn’t want to monopolize the guy’s time. He felt a buzzing on his ass indicating he’d received a text.
“I sent you a text so you can remind me to meet up if the weekend gets away from me,” Jack told him. “I’m serious about meeting up, dude.” Brent gave him a genuine smile and he and Eric pushed their way back to the table where Aimee sat patiently waiting for them.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Aimee could tell from the pleased smile on Brent’s face that the conversation with the band went well. Aimee found her heart skipping a beat. She was crazy in love with Brent but she held back from saying the words. There were a few things she needed to tell Brent before she made any declarations of love and if he still wanted to be with her after they talked, she would tell him how she felt. She hadn’t lied to him exactly, but she knew omitting important facts was nearly the same as telling an outright lie.
“We’re going to hook up this weekend,” Brent told her as he and Eric slid back into their seats. They all watched as the singer and guitarist took the stage again.
“Awesome!” Aimee responded. She couldn’t be happier or more excited for him. She knew he dreamed of doing something huge in music and he was talented enough to go far. From the sounds of the vocalist, maybe
this could be the way it happened for him. She knew Eric dreamed of performing too, but he was much less passionate about music than Brent was. To Eric, music was just something fun to do. For Brent, he needed music like he needed air. It was essential to living for him.
“The singer is Jack. Guitarist is Jacob. He thought I was gay.” Aimee couldn’t stop the snort that erupted. She clapped her hands over her mouth. How embarrassing. Brent laughed at her and brushed a kiss across her cheek.
“Good God, is there a hog in the room?” Eric teased. She lightly punched his arm.
“No, but there is an ass,” she shot back. He grinned at her and kissed her other cheek. She rubbed his back affectionately. Eric leaned into her touch like a puppy and she realized suddenly how much she had come to value her friendship with Eric. He mattered to her almost as much as Brent did, just in an entirely different way.
Aimee sat back in her seat as the music started back up. She was worried how they would both react once they heard what she had to say. Would they be mad at her? Certainly Brent would have the right to be angry. She knew he cared about her deeply and their new relationship definitely put the pressure on her to own up to what she hadn’t yet had the nerve to tell him. She didn’t know if his feelings ran deep enough to withstand the discussion about their real age difference. She winced. It didn’t matter to her, but she wasn’t the one who would carry any risk from their relationship.
It wasn’t unheard of for a sixteen year old to graduate from high school. Aimee had turned seventeen in the middle of July after she’d graduated and shortly before she started her freshman year of college. She wouldn’t turn eighteen until her first year of college was over and done with. She didn’t know how much this would matter to Brent and that worried her. He’d never specifically asked her age, he just assumed she was eighteen like most college freshmen and she never bothered correcting him. She knew it was wrong and Brent could get in trouble for being with her, but nobody at school knew her age and the only people that did know were living hours and hours away. Aimee’s stomach churned at the thought of Brent’s possible reaction.
