She had spent so many years of her life not knowing how he felt about her. Not knowing if her love for him was being returned or not. Now that she knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he loved her…that it was real…every time his hand brushed over her skin, it was exponentially more meaningful than it’d been before.

Before? It was just pleasure. Now? It was an expression of love.

Nate took his time touching her. There was no hurry. There were no emotional barriers between them. They were completely free and they could luxuriate in one another. She, for one, planned on taking full advantage of that freedom. After how long she had waited, she felt like she deserved it. She had earned this time with Nate. She was going to savor it with every bit of energy she possessed.

But, when his fingers began running up and down her thighs, her sex began throbbing in anticipation. She tried to breathe, relax and just let herself feel all of the wonderful sensations that were spiraling through her. It grew more and more difficult as she felt the back of his knuckles brush against her folds each time he went up one side of her thigh and then back down the other. Of their own accord, her hips began lifting up every time she felt his hand nearing the apex of her legs in an effort to push her center against his touch.

“Don’t move.” He instructed roughly as he released his hold on her wrists.

She did as he asked, keeping her arms above her head, and watched as he placed a hand on each knee and spread her legs apart even further than they were. A rush of air wafted over her damp core before she felt the all-encompassing sensation of Nate’s hot mouth covering her. That’s when she lost the ability to reason, to think, to do anything but feel.

His tongue made its maddeningly slow way up and down her seam several times until she was right on the verge of begging him to focus his attentions on the center of her pleasure—that hard button that his tongue was currently only briefly brushing past on its passes back and forth. But then, reading her mind, as it seemed he always did, he moved his mouth up to the top of her slit and focused his suction there, pulling her into his mouth and swirling his tongue around her again and again.

She looked down at him and the visual only increased the ripples of pleasure rolling through her. His head looked so sexy there, past the mound of her breasts and the flat expanse of her belly, moving between the vee of her legs. She wanted so badly to reach down and tangle her hands in his hair, pull him even closer to her, but he’d told her not to move. It served to increase the erotic quotient of this experience. It wasn’t just hot. It was scorching.

Just when she felt like she was about to come, to surrender to the powerful orgasm that had been building low in her belly, he switched up the rhythm. Backing his mouth off slightly, he changed his tongue’s caresses to a soft lap rather than the pulsing circles he had just been making. Somehow, the effect of those feather-light and gentler strokes were just as powerful as the more aggressive caresses had been. She didn’t see how that was possible, but she didn’t need to. Nate knew her body instinctively so that all she had to do was trust him to take good care of her. He was obviously more than up to the task.

After taking her just to the precipice of release and then pulling back several more times, he pushed two fingers inside of her and began to pump them in and out. He slowly increased the speed and rhythm of his digits thrusting in and out of her. Pleasure built unbearably from the friction and pressure of his fingers and the velvety warmth of his tongue and lips.

Eliza’s torso lifted up and she gripped the edge of the desk as the orgasm she had thought was going to claim her just moments before raged through her like a freight train. Her muscles clenched and spasmed. Her back arched and she pressed her head into the hardwood of the desk.

She was happy, at that moment, to be lying on a surface that was so solid. It gave her good leverage to press herself even further against his mouth as she came, getting closer and closer to him, his fingers diving deeper into her and his tongue pressing harder against her. All of those components combined to intensify and draw the orgasm out.

Even with the incredible release she was experiencing, she kept enough of her head about her to remember that she needed to be quiet. After all, they were in his office. She must have had some inner exhibitionist in her because that thought sent her soaring even further into erotic oblivion. A white light enveloped her vision and lightheadedness took her floating away.

When she came back to herself, she saw Nate standing above her, a sexy grin on his face and a condom already on his impressive erection. It was all he was wearing.

In a skilled and fluid movement, he wrapped his arm around her and flipped her over so she was bending over the desk she had just been spread out on. He moved so he hovered above her back and ran his hands down her arms and over her hands and pushed her fingers down so that they were grabbing onto the far side of the wood desktop above her head.

She felt his breath fan against the side of her face as he whispered, “If I could tie you to this desk I would, but since I can’t…don’t move.”

A picture of Nate tying her up popped up in her mind’s eye and her entire body flashed with renewed arousal. She wanted to feel him driving into her. Her legs began shaking as she lifted on her tiptoes, offering herself to him.

He raised up, standing behind her and ran his hands up and down her back, then slipped them in between her skin and the desktop, sliding them up so that he could play with her nipples. She felt them grow harder as he rolled them between his thumb and forefinger, sending sparks shooting down her spine and through her extremities.

Finally, he moved his hands down her sides, over her waist to grasp her hips firmly. He positioned himself at her opening. She felt his swollen head rubbing up and down her slit, sliding easily as he coated her folds with her arousal.

“Please, I nee—” and before she had even finished her sentence, he drove into her with a force that, even taking into account their last two explosive encounters, she was shocked by. Just the sheer power of it took her breath away. She found herself having to keep a tight hold on her voice again, to exercise the strictest mental control to keep herself from screaming.

And she liked it. The challenge of keeping her cries of pleasure trapped inside her throat made the sexual energy build up inside her body even faster. She was like a pressure cooker. When she reached that tipping point, she was going to explode, she knew it. And it was going to be amazing.

Nate drove in and out of her in a steady rhythm. She reveled in the sound of their skin slapping together when their bodies made contact at the height of the thrust. It was the soundtrack to their lovemaking that enhanced the physical pleasure all the more.

She’d always been a “five senses” sort of girl, and every single one of them made her experiences with Nate so much sweeter. The sight of him going down on her, the sound of the friction between their sweaty skin, the taste of his rock hard member in her mouth, the smell of his masculine musk…oh, and the touch. Everywhere she touched him, and everywhere he touched her. It was a kaleidoscope of sensory input that blended together and stood out simultaneously.

She felt his hand slide down her belly and his finger easily found her engorged bud. He kept his touch as light as butterfly wing flutters. He must have known that she was so sensitive still from the orgasm she had moments ago because he was being extremely gentle with his caresses. Otherwise it would simply be too intense. It would hurt. But, not the way Nate was touching her. His finger brushing over her just caused her body to once again skyrocket towards release.

Within minutes she exploded with sensation as her orgasm claimed her. It took her over, made her push her body backward into Nate just as his body stiffened behind her and he drove into her one final time as he came. She whimpered as her body convulsed around him, the small sound an accurate expression of the desperation she felt to be close to him as they both experienced such powerful climaxes together.

She had never felt this kind of intensity before in
her life. It was the emotional connection that made it so much more powerful. The raw vulnerability that she had never shown to anyone. She was completely exposed, both body and soul. That was a very dangerous thing to be around anyone—but not around Nate. She knew that he would protect her, no matter what. Even if it came down to a choice between himself and her, he would choose to protect her at his own expense, every single time. Because of that level of trust, she not only felt safe making herself vulnerable, she felt fulfilled. It was thrilling.

When the last aftershock rocked through her, she collapsed down onto the desk. She couldn’t catch her breath. Her legs were jelly. She felt like she was made of silly string, and she had been sprayed all over the room in thin, wispy tendrils. She’d have to be gathered up before she’d have mass or substance again.

Nate sat back in his office chair and pulled her back to sit on his lap with much more grace and control than she could muster. She let herself melt into his strength as she curled up against him and tucked her head into his shoulder. He stroked her hair. This moment was basically everything she had ever dreamed of.

As amazing as it was, there was one thing that was stopping her from enjoying it completely. A question that she just couldn’t get out of her head.

Glancing up at him, a hint of a smile crossed her lips as she asked, “So…what was my surprise?”

  Chapter 25

“How much longer?” Eliza bounced in the passenger seat as she lifted her hand and touched the blindfold that he’d put on her before they left the office.

He smiled as he watched her fidgeting, unable to sit still from excitement.

  “Not much longer.”

“Arf!” Farmer, who was sitting in the bench seat behind them put his head on the backrest and made his presence known.

Nate was pretty sure that he could sense Eliza’s excitement because he seemed more lively than normal. Reaching up, Nate petted his head. “We’re almost there, boy.”

They could have been at their destination twenty minutes ago, but he’d been driving them around aimlessly so she would have no idea where they were going. After Eliza had asked about her surprise he’d said he wasn’t going to tell her, but he would show her. He’d thought that they might bask in the post-coital glow, maybe even go for round two before that happened, but as always, he hadn’t predicted Eliza’s response. She’d jumped off his lap, squealing as she got dressed like she was Wonder Woman in a phone booth, and said she wanted to go right now.

Nate saw no point in arguing, since it had already been established that he would do anything for the woman standing beside him. So, he’d disposed of the condom and got dressed. They’d made a quick stop by the dental office to get Farmer and then the trio jumped in his truck. Before leaving, he’d taken out the handkerchief—bandana type—he always kept in his pocket, rolled it up, wrapped it around Eliza’s head making sure she couldn’t see, and tied it in a double knot.

“I’ve always hated surprises, but I can’t wait for this one!” She clapped her hands together, giddiness radiating off of her.

He pulled the car to a stop and had to reach over and cover her arms that rose to tug off the blindfold. “Not yet. I’ll take it off you when it’s time.”

“Okay, okay, okay.” She smiled and she bit her lip.

“No peeking.” He instructed forcefully as he got out of the truck.

He kept an eye on her as he walked around the front and was happy that he made it to the passenger side door before the temptation to try to sneak a peek got the better of her. When he opened the door, Farmer, who had jumped to the front seat as soon as Nate stepped out of the truck, leapt over Eliza and onto the sidewalk beside Nate.

“Sit,” Nate commanded as he lifted Eliza out of the truck and set her down on the cement.

“I was sitting,” she said defensively.

  “Not you,” he chuckled. “Farmer.”

“Oh.” She nodded as she lifted her arms up to Nate and patted his chest and arms, trying to get her bearings. “That makes more sense.”

Farmer really was in tune with her energy, because sensing her uncertainty, he plastered his head against her leg, letting her know he was there. Nate didn’t know if there was a Dog of the Year Award, but if there was he was going to nominate Farmer.

Eliza reached down and ran her hand over Farmer’s head. “Hey, handsome boy. Do you see our surprise?”

Nate looked up. It was dark, which put a damper on how he’d pictured the big reveal. This wasn’t how he’d wanted the surprise to be, but he was starting to learn that he couldn’t control everything, no matter how much he wished he could. So he decided to move the big reveal to a different location.

“There’s steps, do you want to walk or do you want me to carry you?”

She held up her arms and beamed as she said, “Carry me, please.”

He smiled as he scooped her into his arms, the way a groom carries his bride. She wrapped her arms around his neck and nuzzled her head against his shoulder. Having her in his arms, like this, felt so right his chest ached.

Instead of letting himself give into the tidal wave of emotions that were crashing over him, he focused on the task at hand. He quickly made his way up the walkway, taking the steps two at a time, Farmer following right beside them.

As soon as he got the door open he set her down and said, “Don’t move.”

His body responded to the phrase he’d used an hour before when she was naked and sprawled out on his desk and his jeans grew uncomfortably tight. He had a feeling that was going to be a running problem now.

He started working to get everything as close as he could to how he’d wanted her to see it three days earlier. The flowers were a little wilted, but he moved them around and hid the more pathetic looking ones. Grabbing the banner that was going to be outside he instead placed it on the mantle. He didn’t have a lighter for the candles, but he switched on the light.

At the illumination, Eliza reached for the blindfold.

He was across the room and by her side, grabbing her wrist before she touched it. “I said, don’t move.”

She smiled, but this time it wasn’t the giddy grin she’d had before. This was a seductive smile. Her breath was shaky as a flush rose up her chest. “Have I told you I like it when you’re bossy?”

She didn’t have to. Her body did.

“Are you ready?” he asked, not sure who was more excited for her surprise, him or her.

“Yes!” Her hair fell in her face from her enthusiastic nods.

He stood directly in front of her, blocking her view while he untied the cloth. She squinted when he removed it and smiled up at him expectantly. When he saw that her eyes had adjusted to the light, he stepped to the side.

When he did, she scanned the room with enthusiasm, smiling wider than he’d ever seen her smile before. Then, her smile dropped and she looked at him with bewilderment.

  “This is my…”

“Your parents’ house,” he blurted out, not able to wait for her to finish.

“What are we doing here?” She held her hands up.

He pointed. “Did you read the sign?”

She spun around in the direction he’d indicated. “Welcome home,” she said the words out loud a moment before she gasped loudly and her hands clasped over her mouth. Her wide eyes shot to his and she mumbled behind her fingers as her head shook back and forth. “You didn’t…no…this is…no….”

He lowered her hands, smiling at her adorable reaction, and handed her the key.

“What did you do?” she whispered, choked up with emotion.

“The week I moved back home, your parents put their house up for sale. I ran into your mom at the grocery store and asked her about you buying, since I remembered that’s what you’d always talked about. She said that you and your husband had decided not to, since you were growing your business. The next morning I put in a full price offer.”

She still looked stunned as she asked, “Why? Why would
you do that?’

“It just felt wrong for anyone else to live here, not when you loved this house so much.”

Tears were falling down her cheeks, but she didn’t bother wiping them away. “So you’ve been living here?”

“No. I couldn’t. Not without you.”

She threw her arms around him and jumped into his arms. Farmer barked happily and ran in circles around them. He held her tightly and buried his face in the crook of her neck.

“I love you. I love you. I love you,” she repeated over and over.

When he felt her loosen her grip, he set her down and brushed the hair that was stuck to her face wet with tears that she’d shed. She sniffed and looked around like she was still in shock.

“I can’t believe that you did all this. No one has ever loved me like you…” the tears were back.

He wasn’t sure if this was the right time or not, but he didn’t want to waste another second with Eliza. They’d wasted so much time already.

Getting down on one knee, he pulled out the ring he’d gotten from Nana the morning he’d come back to get the house ready. Eliza’s hands were back over her mouth and her head was shaking again.

“You’re right…” A knot formed in his throat as he held the ring up. “No one could ever love you like I do. I love you more than I could ever say in words. So let me show you. I already told you what you deserve in a man, and if you’ll let me, I’ll work every day for the rest of our lives trying to be that man. Ellie, will you marry me?”

Her head was already nodding as she said, “Yes, yes, yes!”

He stood and once again she flew into his arms and once again Farmer barked and raced around them. “I’m glad I didn’t write the proposal on a paper, you would have never seen it,” he teased as he tightened his hold around her.

She laughed and snuggled closer to him and it finally sunk in that this was real. She was really in his arms. She was really his. All the time that they’d wasted, all the misunderstandings that they’d had, were worth it because they’d brought them here, to this moment.
