“Yes, please.” Now he looked like a kid waiting for his Christmas treat.

Groaning, I gave in. I started out as nonchalantly as possible, listing every detail clinically. Despite that, he still got hard. His arousal made me hot, so much so that by the end, I desperately straddled that hard cock of his and rode it as I gasped out the end of my tale.

He latched on to one nipple and then the other as I was arched over his knees. We finished in a mutual swoon as we collapsed onto my bed.

“That was the best story ever.”

I had wanted to say something sassy in reply, but fell hard asleep.

I WOKE UP AT TWO O’CLOCK in the morning and realized that I was snuggled in my too-small bed with a large, hot body. I crawled out from under him and wrapped myself up in my robe. Xavier rolled over and continued sleeping. The wrinkled sheets framed his half-covered body deliciously.

I made coffee, forced myself to the kitchen table, and typed up story after story until five o’clock rolled around. Tired but happy to have a good handle on my writing projects, I dragged myself away from my computer.

Thank goodness I’d planned for a possible all-nighter session by booking that spa day at Jay’s place tomorrow. Or rather, later today. I scheduled my appointment into my phone alarms. I would hate to miss out on the massage, and the thought of disappointing Jay made my heart ache.

Xavier stirred when I slipped back into bed. He wrapped his body around me. “What time is it, sweet?” he grumbled into my neck.

  “Five-ish.”

“You’re the best alarm clock ever.” He pushed his hardness against me. I giggled despite the early hour and the fact that I just wanted to keep my eyes closed forever and ever. “Did you write for the mag or for you?” His voice was deliciously rugged and intense from sleep.

  “Both,” I said. “Why?”

He answered by slipping his finger between my legs. I gasped and moaned when he dragged it wet and hot along my slit, settling in hypnotic circles over my clit. “That’s why,” he said, drawing in a ragged breath. “You’re always hot for me. Wet for me.” He spread my legs apart, and slowly slipped his entire throbbing cock between them. “I cannot get enough of this, of you.”

He kept a slow and sweet rhythm, building up the slow burn until I burst from the intensity.

He left me in a warm cocoon of blankets, pressing me into the welcoming arms of sleep, promising that he would lock up when he left.

  CHAPTER 4

I WAS PROUD OF MYSELF for waking up and getting on the move so that I got to the spa on time. I even texted Jay that I was on my way and he responded with a sexy wink emoji.

Damn if that didn’t put an extra pep in my step.

Jay met me at the lobby like he always did. And like always I flushed at the chaste kiss he placed on my cheek.

“Ready for your spa day?” His voice was pitched low, but I heard it perfectly, despite the rushing crowd around me. It was like his voice was made just for me and my body responded to it gladly.

I nodded, my words swallowed by the butterflies in my stomach that he stirred up inside me.

He led me to the bank of elevators and I swiped my VIP badge for the sensor. I didn’t even need to push a button; the car knew exactly which floor I needed to be on.

We didn’t talk. I’d learned that he preferred to communicate in other ways. Like the hand on my back that radiated warmth. The way his fingers moved in a sensuous swirl on my body. The way he hugged me to his hip.

Once I realized what he was saying without saying it, I stopped being so nervous at the silences. When I quit focusing on my paranoia and started listening to what he said, in all the ways he said it, the awkward feelings went away. It became like curling up into a comfortable book.

Besides, he made it so easy to lean my head against his shoulder and nuzzle him.

I felt him chuckle, the rumbles in his chest reminding me of a purring cat. If cats were huge.

He caressed the side of my face. “Did someone keep you up all night?”

I hid a yawn as I shook my head. “No, that was me. I couldn’t stop working after I caught a second wind at two o’clock in the morning.”

He tsked, an entire lecture of the importance of sleep and taking care of myself in that one little sound.

The elevator doors opened, and we stepped out in perfect rhythm. “Well, bliss is waiting for you, lovely. I’ll leave you in capable hands while I finish up some work. Then I’ll check in on you, make sure you’re enjoying yourself.”

He did a kind of nose kiss that turned my insides all gooey, then kissed my forehead. We stopped in front of the reception desk. A young blonde with perfect skin and a toothy smile rose up to meet me.

“Bliss, this is Mia, a very special VIP client. Please make sure all her needs are seen to.”

It took me a second to realize that Bliss was actually the receptionist’s name. Her spa uniform was a modern nurse-chic look that managed to be both businesslike and hygienic-looking. Her dazzling white teeth matched her starched clothes.

“Yes, of course, sir.” Bliss was very eager to please.

He kissed my forehead again, and I swore I caught Bliss sighing just a little bit. Once Jay was out of hearing, she loud-whispered to me, “You guys are just too cute.”

If she were an emoji, she would be the one with big throbbing hearts bouncing out of her eye sockets. “I have never seen the boss this happy, and seeing him with you just melts my heart.” She hugged the clipboard to her chest. She had a faint southern accent as she spoke, very carefully hidden, but there. If she dropped a “y’all” it wouldn’t seem out of place for someone like her. “Especially after that shrew of an ex of his—oops, I mean I’m so happy that y’all are so happy.”

Ah, there it was. And yes, it did fit nicely.

I smiled, because I didn’t quite know how to respond. I didn’t know what to say about the fact that Jay’s private life evidently wasn’t as private as I thought, especially since I didn’t know anything about his ex, because I didn’t care enough to pry. All I knew was that his too-recent break up and too-soon unfortunate blind date with me over six months ago made him a pretty intolerable first date.

Since I didn’t want to stare at her too-blinky eyes for the entire appointment, I decided to take charge. “Well, Bliss, where do we go from here?”

“Oh, of course, follow me!” She led me to the back, not far from the VIP rooms. The night I’d spent there with Jay and Xavier still had the power to make me flush.

She showed me to a room that was pretty nondescript in an understated, elegant way. The walls weren’t sterile white, but a soft ecru like cotton clouds. It looked like a normal massage room with a table that had a hole in it and everything.

And here I thought a pleasure spa would be dazzling red with leather whips everywhere.

Bliss handed me the clipboard. “I think the boss reserved a package for you, along with some other tidbits that he thought you’d like.” Her voice was conspiratorial. “You’ll still be able to choose your own adventure, though.” Then she handed me a menu of services.

  I felt my face burning.

They had massage and facial services...but they were not spa treatments.

I shouldn’t have been surprised that there was a fetish menu. After all, this club catered to whatever their VIPs needed, and hadn’t I had a taste of the VIP room?

With Bliss watching, all the choices swirled before my eyes so I ended up just ticking off whatever sounded the most relaxing and dreamy. If things went too far, I would totally just stop it.

Plus, there was always the massage.

The best part about having a gym and a spa at my disposal was that when I was aching and tired from long hours of scrunching over my computer or contorting into odd sitting positions, I could have some relief every now and then.

I gave Bliss the clipboard and the she said, “Great choices. Well, Ms. Mia, I’ll let you get comfortable and your massage therapist will be
here shortly.”

I stripped my clothes and folded them neatly. The massage table was very accommodating. It was almost a bed it was so roomy.

There was a light knock on the door and I called out, “Come in.” Another young woman entered. Her green eyes were a little too large for her face, but she had a strong, straightforward manner about her that made me confident in her massage skills.

I needed a bit of a firm hand.

“Hello, Ms. Mia. I hear you’re a VIP?”

I snorted a little. “At least that’s what my badge says,” I said, referring to the swipe badge that Jay made for me for my first visit here.

“Excellent. Well, I’m Sam, and I’ll be taking care of you. I’m sure you’re itching to get started.”

She started with me facedown, working out my shoulders and back. Once I’d been worked on from head to toes and back up again, I turned over. Relaxed while she worked on my shoulders, did that thing with the scalp. Loosened up my arms and legs. Throughout, she would brush against my torso and I thought nothing of it.

“We’re ready for the next phase. I’m going to oil the rest of your body now.”

She pulled the blanket down, completely exiting the realm of the familiar.

I immediately grabbed the blanket and yanked it back up, tucking it under my arms. “Whoa, what’s going on?”

She looked at me curiously. “Is the room too cold?”

Actually, no, it was very comfortable. I mentioned it. “I just didn’t expect unblanketedness.”

“That’s fine. We can work under the blankets.”

I considered it and made a decision. “Don’t worry about it. Just continue on ahead and I can pretend this is a new and exciting thing.”

“As you wish, Ms. Mia.” She folded the blanket back down.

Since she was kneading light circles over my abdomen and rolling her hands down around my hips, I was feeling pretty warm and not just a little bit turned on. To distract myself, I started babbling random conversational things. How long she’d worked here. How many appointments she had in a day. Were most of them naked?

She laughed at that question. Evidently, most people chose not to be naked when they were being massaged. Good to know.

Then there was a light knock on the door and Jay slipped into the room. He came into the room so smoothly, I didn’t hear his footsteps or the closing of the door. His eyes lit up when he saw me on display. “How are you, Mia?”

“Good,” I said, my voice breathy and languid to my ears.

He brushed my hair back from my forehead.

Looking up at him, seeing the way he looked at me, was breathtaking.

I must have said something because he chuckled and kissed me.

“Excellent.” He bent over and kissed my nipples—first one, then the other—and laid his hand lightly over my abdomen. His fingers absently danced a pattern around my belly button. Liquid heat rushed between my legs. My breath grew ragged and hitched.

He dipped his finger between my legs then, coaxing his finger up between my folds, finding my clit, stroking slow hypnotic circles around it.

I didn’t move, not wanting him to stop.

“Sam, please take over while I prepare for Ms. Mia.”

I’d forgotten she was in the room. While I’d been distracted, Sam had slipped on gloves and spread warmed lubricant over the fingers.

What the hell boxes had I even checked off?

Jay’s hand was quickly replaced by Sam’s. Before I could ask a question, he kissed me lightly on my mouth, cupping a breast. He looked deep in my eyes. “I’d like to see her come at least once, if not twice, before I lay my hands on her.”

  “Yes, sir.”

I was so aroused by this new situation that when Sam picked up the rhythm between my legs, I was done.

My orgasm took me by surprise, and perhaps Jay, too, because he chuckled to himself. “Twice, then.”

He had removed his jacket, and rolled up his sleeves. He was in a button down and suit pants, which bulged in front. He sat down, rested his ankle on his knee.

Sam had two fingers inside of me, reaching for my spot while her other hand worked my clit to bring me another deep orgasm.

She applied pressure again and brought me a third time.

I didn’t care what I might look like or what I sounded like or who saw me. I was taken over by intense sensations that wouldn’t stop.

She pressed the heel of her hand firmly onto my mound to ground me as she removed her fingers.

  “Thank you, Sam.”

His words came as if from some floaty space. I was barely aware of movement in the room, of gloves being discarded and the door opening and closing.

Jay stroked along the sides of my body, letting me feel him, adjusting back into my body again. “You’re so beautiful.”

He kissed me so soundly I forgot my name.

I barely felt him lifting me off the bed. He cuffed my wrists, raising my arms above my head until he strung me up with a hook that was barely visible in the ceiling design.

He ran his hands up and down my body. I was warm and tingly all over.

He kissed me then, soft lips pressing against mine. The contrast of his clothes against my skin was thrilling. I was warm and languid when he stepped away from me.

And then leather whistled in the air, landing with a smack on my ass.

  I gasped.

Jay appeared before me again, leaning against me. His body radiated heat, his hands scorching a trail over my skin. “What was the safe word?” he murmured against my lips.

What was the safe word? “Pirate.”

He kissed me again, a sweet torture before sliding a blindfold on.

Then his heat moved away from me.

The lash fell lightly on my skin again, moving along different parts of me. Soft at first, then insistent. The harder ones stung, but weren’t bad. And the longer I got them, the more I started wanting the harder bite and sting from the whip. Expecting it. Begging for it.

Unexpectedly, the more I wanted, the more I leaned in, the more I relaxed, the more I started to get hot again. I wanted to be touched. My breathing came in faster and faster; the whips kept coming quicker and harder.

  My whole body trembled.

I didn’t realize I was crying until I felt an arm wrap around me. He eased me out of the restraints and I floated onto a soft bed wrapped in warmth.

I didn’t know how long I slept, but I woke to Jay still holding me, so maybe not that long.

He was petting me. I moved away from him, and he let me. I rolled on my back. It didn’t hurt like I thought it would. I felt...at peace.

This was a complete difference from the first time I was with him. Then, I was fully clothed and felt like he could see right through me.

Here, though, like this, I felt different. Like I had power almost. Important. Not in a weird ball-busty way, but in a way I’d never felt before. Like I was important to this person. That I mattered to him.

That if I were to leave his life at this moment, I would hurt his feelings or disappoint him. I couldn’t remember feeling that with someone before.

“I love having you here with me like this.” He said it quietly.

I was laid out naked next to him, unafraid, unembarrassed, and yet it felt like he was the one revealing something that I couldn’t quite place. I didn’t have words yet; I was too relaxed and didn’t want to say anything trite or stupid. So I leaned into him and pressed my lips against his, putting all I couldn’t express into it.

He cupped my face with his hand and kissed me back, soft and sweet. “Let me take care of you now.” He oiled and rubbed my body, massaging my arms and shoulders and just lightly touching my back and legs, where he’d whipped me the most.

Then, like a professional massage therapist, he draped hot towels on my back, wrapped my feet, and pulled the blanket up.

His strong fingers massaged my scalp, leaving me ready to pass out again. “X isn’t going to like this
, but that’s just too bad.” He kissed my cheek, whispered in my ear. “Take all the time you need. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll take you home.”

I swallowed hard and nodded, and he was away. I dressed quickly, even though I just wanted to curl up and purr like a contented kitty.

I figured he was waiting for me out front, but once I stepped outside of the room, I felt it again. The weight of the world. The expectations. The different context. The awkwardness. All the what-ifs and the what-abouts swirling in my head, crowding me and reminding me of all the ways I’d failed and messed up. How I didn’t deserve happiness and that I ought to be suspicious of it, to expect the worst to protect myself from future hurts.

One way led to the front reception area. One direction led to the emergency exit. I hesitated.

A shadow crossed in front of me. Jay. He held me and I let him. And when I did, all the stuff that I thought was so important melted away from me. He laid a soft kiss on my forehead. “Ready?”

Looking up at him, I realized I was more than ready to face my fears. And the things that I was afraid of? Stuff that would never actually happen in the first place.

“Mia?” A soft caress brought me back to the present moment.

  “Yes, I’m ready.”

  CHAPTER 5

I NEEDED A MOMENT. I slithered out from between them, leaving them sprawled over the bed.

I couldn't believe they were mine. Yet just thinking about it made me feel...nervous. Like I didn't deserve them or something. I knew they wouldn't like me talking to myself like that, but I felt unsettled, even after the spa.

I slipped on the silky robe Xavier gave me, stepped into the matching silk slippers, and went to the sitting area outside to get some tea.

  "A million for your thoughts."

Jay gently pulled my hair away from my neck and kissed it lightly. I enjoyed his touch, his smell, his voice. But right now, I just wanted to be left alone to think things through.

He must have sensed that, because he simply kissed me again on my temple and grabbed a cashmere blanket to wrap around me. I thanked him and we kissed again, soft, slow, lingering, before he padded away from me toward the kitchen.
