"I love you, too, sweetheart. I'll come for you as soon as I can. You'll be safe now."
The Officer drove them home and came inside just to be sure the house was completely safe and none of Darles' men were left behind 'in case'. The house was empty and Jenna reassured the officer they would be fine. She made sure the doors were locked and then looked at Kari and asked, "Would you think me a big baby if I called Ma...?" she asked.
"Call her. She'll be relieved to know it's over, Jenna. I'll make us something to eat." It was way past lunchtime, and she knew they should eat something, whether or not they felt like it. Jenna didn't bother going into another room to make her call, and while she tried to sound calm, Molly said she was on her way home, and Kari was sure Molly broke every speed limit on the books since she walked inside the house in record time!
Molly hugged Jenna tightly. "Tell Mama what happened, honey. Are you both all right?" she included Kari in her gaze.
"We're fine, Ma," Jenna answered for them. She told her Mother about shooting Darles and Molly reassured her that she'd done the right thing, and told her it wasn't in her to kill anyone unless she had to. She calmed her daughter while watching Kari prepare lunch out of the corner of her eye.
"I'm so proud of all of you for staying calm and doing what you needed to do," Molly said quietly. "That young man Linc is very special, isn't he, honey?" she asked her daughter.
"I'm going to marry him, Ma," Jenna said matter-of-factly. "He's the one," she said, "even if he doesn't know it yet."
Molly nodded. "I think you may be right, dear. Kari, that smells heavenly."
"It's almost ready, Molly. I made plenty," Kari replied with a smile. "I'm not a professional like you, but it is eatable, I'm sure."
"Oh, you've done a great job," Molly assured her. "I was watching. It's wonderful to know that Jacob isn't going to starve," she said teasingly as she jumped up to set the table. Within a few minutes they were eating, and Molly was telling her daughter-in-law that her dish was fantastic. Molly said she had to go back to work once she was assured the two women were all right, and several more hours passed before Jake finally arrived.
"I'm sorry it took so long, sweetheart," he held her close.
"I was patient," she answered, smiling up at him.
The doorbell rang a couple minutes later, and Jenna was all smiles when she realized it was Linc. "You came!" she said happily, throwing herself in his arms.
"Of course I came, sugar," he answered. "Where else would I be?" he teased. "You did a good job today, Jenna, and I am very proud of you," he told her.
"You did a good job," she argued. "You're something else, Linc," Jenna told him, her eyes shining.
"I wasn't about to let them take you, or Kari, or Kelly," he said firmly. "You girls gave me the best back-up a guy could want or expect, especially you, Kari. You had my back, literally. Thank you."
Kari just smiled and said, "Thank you, Linc. And thank you for saving our butts, too."
"Let's go home, Mrs. Tobias," Jake said. He put his hand on Linc's shoulder, "I know I said something as your Lieutenant, Linc, but as a husband and brother, I want to thank you personally for keeping my family safe today." They left, and Jake held Kari's hand all the way home. She was precious to him.
"We're going to take that honeymoon just as soon as I can get it all arranged, sweetheart," he promised. "And, I want you to know that I'm well aware I owe you something very special for not listening to you this morning. I'm so sorry about that, sweetheart. I promise I will never just assume that because I heard something from one person that it has to be the absolute truth. I was wrong, and I am sorry I spanked you this morning."
"Jake, dear, I wasn't exactly blameless in the matter," she confessed. "I didn't show Linc the respect he deserved, and looking back now, I can see where he might be concerned I could or would cause him trouble with you at work. That was unfair of me. I was only thinking of Kelly's feelings."
"Linc said he was rude to you...? What was that about?"
"Kelly was ill, and we heard the dogs. I took my gun and went to check it out, even though Kelly said 'no'. I recognized Jenna, and stepped outside to call off the dogs. Linc yelled at me to get inside, and was thoroughly upset with me, and with Kelly for not protecting me. He had a point, too, Jake," she confessed. "I knew the situation, and he didn't," she admitted, and then said, "Can we just forget it and say we both made some mistakes this morning? I'm not upset with you, and I hope you're not upset with me...?"
"Not a bit, sweetheart," Jake stated. "I'm a lucky man, you know. Nevin said I'd be in the doghouse for days," he grinned.
"Nope, life is really too short for that nonsense. I want to make love... and just be with you."
Jake stepped on the gas a bit and said, "I aim to please, Mrs. Tobias." He hurried them on home, and pleased them both.
A few weeks later, they went on their honeymoon, a secluded cabin in the mountains of Virginia, and Jake surprised Kari by renting a luxurious 'cabin'. They stayed for two weeks and during that time Jake introduced her to the pleasure of spanking for erotic purposes. He laughed when she tried to convince him that she much preferred this kind of spanking to the other kind, and tried to convince him that he could just give her this kind from now on. He told her he would be happy to do that provided she was a good girl all the time, and Kari promised she would be very good!
