The Ice Star (Konstabel Fenna Brongaard Book 1)

Research was a vital part of the project, and I would like to thank SIRIUS Sledge Patrolman Per Jessen, and Anders Kjærgaard, leader of the SIRIUS Sledge Patrol (2015-16), for their patience and insight. Both Per and Anders helped give the manuscript the authenticity I was looking for. However, I take full responsibility for all deviations from standard operating procedure and the dramatic license I have taken with the story. It is a thriller after all.
I spent seven years in Greenland – four on the island of Uummannaq, and my seventh year in the capital of Nuuk. I met many exceptional Greenlanders, professionals, and friends, but I would particularly like to thank Akisooq Vestergaard-Jessen for year six in Qaanaaq, and Stephen Pax Leonard, a Brit from the Scott Polar Research Institute, studying the Qaanaaq dialect, for year five. I must also thank Jes Lynning Harfeld for introducing me to a whole new world aboard a very special ship.
I had a sledge team of my own while living in Uummannaq, much to the amusement of my Greenlandic neighbours. While they will never know, it makes sense to thank the members of my own dog team: Kassassuk, Vitus, Trip, Piska, Simba, Hidalgo, Balto, Ninja, and Nansen. They taught me more than I could ever learn from a book, and I would like to think that by year three, we could finally call ourselves a team.
And to my wife, Jane Petersen – thank you.
A lot of people contributed to The Ice Star, but the mistakes and inaccuracies are all my own.

About the Author
Christoffer Petersen is the pen name for an author living in Denmark. Chris started writing The Ice Star while teaching in Greenland. He spent a total of seven years in Greenland and continues to be inspired by the vast icy wilderness of the Arctic. His books have a common setting in the region, with a Scandinavian influence. He is not too proud to say he has watched enough Bourne movies to no longer be surprised by the plot, but not enough to get bored.
