Promise of Forever Page 17

by Jessica Wood

We both chuckled nervously, and I realized that I wasn’t the only one who was nervous.

“I’m sorry, Ethan,” I repeated. I should have let you explain things that night. I was just so overwhelmed with everything that had just happened, I was too scared to find out about anything else.”

“Liv, I get it, and you shouldn’t be sorry. I should have tried to find a way to tell you sooner. And because I didn’t, I put you in harm’s way.”

“It’s all water under the bridge.” I paused. “Thank you for the video. It was so sweet. I cried the whole way through.”

“You do know that crying makes guys nervous, right?” There was a warmth in his teasing that put a wide grin on my face.

“I like making you nervous, Ethan. For a guy who drives a Harley and wears a leather jacket all the time, you’re surprisingly cute when you’re nervous,” I teased back, feeling my nerves lessen the more I talked to him.

He laughed. “I’ve always loved your feistiness.”

I smiled. “Can I see you?” I blurted out.

“I thought you’d never ask,” he said with a warm chuckle.

  “When are you free?”

“Liv, I’ve been waiting for you for almost twenty years. So any time you want, I’m free.”

I giggled. “Can I come over?”

Twenty minutes later, I felt a new wave of nerves as I knocked on Ethan’s door. But when he opened it, I felt all my nervousness disappear when our eyes met.

“Hi.” My voice was breathy as I looked at him. He was more handsome than I remembered, and the way he looked at me made me feel incredible.

“Hi, Liv. It’s so good to see you.” There was a vulnerable tenderness to his voice that I’d never heard before. He pulled me into his arms and hugged me tightly.

“I brought some eggs as a peace offering.” I tried to hold back my laughter as I handed him a basket of eggs.

He laughed. “I swear I don’t have an obsession with eggs. Paesano’s brisket sandwich and Barbuzzo’s pizza were just a coincidence.”

“Uh huh. You weirdo,” I teased.

When we sat down on the couch in the living room, we shared a smile.

“Ethan, I may not remember you, but I know you had always been important to me.”

“Really?” There was hopefulness in his eyes as he waited for me to continue.

“Yeah. Anna told me that I came to Philly two years ago because of you. Someone had told me that you moved here, so I came to find you.” I frowned “But when I couldn’t find you, I think I just gave up hope. I think I probably told myself that I was foolish for believing in a childhood crush.”

He caressed my face and whispered, “Liv, it wasn’t just a childhood crush. What I felt for you was and is real.”

As I gazed into his deep brown eyes, my whole body seemed to be filled with a sense of longing and I realized that I desperately wanted him at that moment. Our eyes locked with sheer intensity and we sat there, staring at each other in silence.

“Make love to me, Ethan,” I finally whispered.

Without another word, our lips met in a raw, all-consuming kiss, eagerly exploring each other with our tongues. Our clothes were off in record time as our lips continued to devour each other with an insatiable hunger.

His eyes raked my naked body as he leaned over me on the couch. My mouth gaped open when I saw his erection. “Oh God, Ethan. I need you inside me now,” I begged as I arched my hips up against his body and tried to move my clit up and down his hardness.

“Soon, baby,” he groaned as his eyes moved slowly across my body. Then I felt his rough hands move down my naked skin with purpose, and a shiver ran down my spine when one hand reached between my inner thighs. Once his hands reached my legs, one of his hands slowly ran back up the length of my legs until it finally reached my inner thighs, where they lingered. Then I gasped as I felt his thumb glide across my opening, but not entering me.

“Fuck, you’re so wet,” he groaned. He spread my knees farther apart, and before I expected it, he buried his face down into my sweetness, and I cried out in pleasure as I felt his mouth lap me up. Whimpers escaped my lips as I felt his tongue flick my clit, sending waves of intense pleasure to ripple through my body. Desperate for more, I arched my hips against his mouth, urging him to go deeper inside me.

I knew he heard my pleas. I cried out as my body began to convulse with exquisite pleasure as he plunged his tongue deep inside me.

“Oh, God, Ethan. I’m about to come,” I said with a moan.

“Not yet, baby.” He groaned in a ragged voice as he released my pussy from his mouth. “I want to be inside you the first time you come.”

His eyes were ablaze with passion as he got on top of me, his erection pressing against my inner thigh without entering me. He groaned as he grabbed my face and pressed his mouth on top of mine. My tongue explored his mouth, tasting myself on his tongue, and it pushed me to the edge.

“I can’t wait any longer. Please make love to me, Ethan. I need you inside me now or I’m going to go crazy,” I begged.

“Baby, I can’t say no to you.” He flashed me a wicked smile. “I want you to grab my cock and guide me inside you.”

I smiled and obeyed. I grabbed his erection and guided it to my entrance. I let out a gasp as I felt him plunge the entire length of his erection inside me in one slow and hungry thrust. He threw his head back in pleasure as I tightened myself around him when he pulled out.

“Fuck! Liv, you are so tight!” He groaned. “And you feel so fucking amazing.” With that he lifted my hips and started pounding into me. Slow at first, but with each thrust, deeper and harder, pushing out wild gasps and moans from my lips.

After minutes of excruciating pleasure, I began to spasm as I reached the apex of my orgasm.

“God, I’m about to come!” I looked up at Ethan, and saw the raw need in his eyes. He pound harder and faster into me. Within seconds, I closed my eyes as an exquisite, delicious thrill slid through my body, and at last the intensity of the pleasure pushed me over the edge.

“Fuck, me too!” He groaned as he threw his head back. I felt his body begin to convulse inside me as he reached his climax.

In the afterglow, we lay there together in happy silence. He gently kissed me on my forehead, and I gazed into his loving eyes. He gently stroked the contours of my face and whispered, “I love you, Olivia Stuart. Forever and always.”

I felt my heart melt by his words. “I love you too, Ethan.”

As I sank my face deeper into Ethan’s warm embrace, I let out a slow sigh of contentment. For the first time since I’d awoken from my coma, I felt completely safe, deliriously happy, and unconditionally loved.

  EPILOGUE

  Two Years Later

“Where are we going?” I asked into his ear as his bike sped down a familiar road. It’d been about a year since I’d regained all of my memories, but there were still days where something looked familiar but I couldn’t be sure why. The doctors had said that this was normal for everyone, and had nothing to do with my amnesia.

“It’s a surprise,” Ethan said loudly through the wind.

Then I noticed a familiar sign, but it looked different—older. Where are we?

“Well, can you at least tell me if we’re almost there yet? The sun set an hour ago, and you know I don’t like to ride in the dark.”

“Don’t worry, baby, we’re almost there.”

He was right. It wasn’t long before he stopped near a remote area at the edge of a neighborhood. Something about this place seemed familiar. A few feet away from where we parked was a small hill.

“Come on.” He laughed as he saw the apprehension on my face. “Trust me.”

I rolled my eyes and followed him as he led me up to the top of the hill.

  “Do you remember this place?”

On top of the hill was an open clearing with lush green grass. I looked around the moonlit clearing. It reminded me of a meadow. A row of trees lined
one side of the meadow, while the other side opened out and overlooked a small stream. Overhead, thousands of stars were shining brightly. They were beautiful.

It was then that I knew where we were. My eyes lit up as I turned to Ethan.

“You’ve taken me to where we went when we were kids.”

He nodded and pulled me into his arms. “Yup.”

“This was where we had our first kiss.” I smiled at the memory, now knowing that it was his kiss as we free-fell in the air that had trigged the return of that precious memory from years ago.

“But not our last,” he whispered as he gently pressed his lips on mine. “This place had always been special to me because I love lying out here under the stars away from everyone else. But it became even more special after I took you here and had our first kiss. And after you moved, I’d come here a lot and think of you. You had no idea how much I missed you.”

My body radiated with happiness at his words. Even after two years together, I still felt so lucky and blessed to have him in my life. I remembered sobbing for weeks after my mom and I moved away, and I was sure that I’d never see him again.

I tiptoed up and kissed him. His kiss was slow and thoughtful, and a sigh escaped me as I got lost in it.

“Come on, lie down with me. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.”

  “Okay,” I said with giggle.

We lay on the soft grass and looked up at the stars. Our hands reached for each other’s, and intertwined when they touched.

Just like that night eighteen years ago, thousands of shiny, bright stars glittered across the wide expanse of sky. I stared out into the black sky that seemed to stretch into oblivion, and the farther I looked, the more stars that appeared before my eyes.

  “It’s still so beautiful, Ethan.”

“Yeah, it is. They look like diamonds, don’t they?”

I smiled. “Yeah, you’re right. They do.”

“Oh, look at that one.” Ethan lifted his other hand into the sky and I looked toward it.

It took me a second to see it, but when I did, I gasped.

There, in between Ethan’s fingers, was a diamond ring.

I sat up from the grass and looked over at Ethan, who was already on one knee with the stunning diamond ring outstretched between us.

“Oh, Ethan,” I whispered as tears welled up in my eyes.

“Olivia Stuart, you have no idea how much I love you. I have loved you since the moment you took a bite out of my peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich over twenty years ago. When we shared our first kiss here, I had promised you that I’d always protect you and be there for you. If there was only one promise I could keep, that one would be it. You are my beginning, my end, and everything in between. Will you be my forever and always, and marry me?”

Tears streamed down my face as I nodded my head. “Yes,” I choked out. “A million times, yes!”

I watched with sheer happiness as he slid the ring on my finger. “It’s so beautiful, Ethan.” When he stood up, I threw my arms at him and our lips met in a long, passionate kiss.

When we finally pulled away, I beamed at him. “I love you, Ethan James. You found me again during a period of time where I was lost and needed to be saved. Even though at the time, I couldn’t remember you, I knew my heart did. Ethan, you have been there for me from the very, very beginning. You are the one person who can effortlessly make me laugh, make me feel safe, and make all my worries melt away. I’m so happy that we’ve finally found each other again.”

His eyes glistened with tears as he held my face and kissed me again, this time with more passion and hunger than before.

And then something new happened in that special meadow.

As the moon moved across the sky that night, Ethan and I made love to each other as soon-to-be husband and wife.

Promise to Marry will be out on December 29, 2014 and available on pre-order. It is book one in a two-book series. Here is the synopsis.

  SYNOPSIS

We were best friends since as early as I could remember. We grew up together. We were next door neighbors. We shared each other's deepest secrets.

When I was thirteen, we made a pact: If we were still single by the time we were 30, we’d marry each other.

  Today was my thirtieth birthday.

I was single. I knew he was single too.

But we were no longer best friends, and a part of me knew that he hated me.

  About The Author

Jessica Wood writes new adult contemporary romance.

While she has lived in countless cities throughout the U.S., her heart belongs to San Francisco. To her, there’s something seductively romantic about the Golden Gate Bridge, the steep rolling hills of the city streets, the cable cars, and the Victorian-style architecture.

Jessica loves a strong, masculine man with a witty personality. While she is headstrong and stubbornly independent, she can’t resist a man who takes control of the relationship, both outside and inside of the bedroom.

She loves to travel internationally, and tries to plan a yearly trip abroad. She also loves to cook and bake, and—to the benefit of her friends—she loves to share. She also enjoys ceramics and being creative with her hands. She has a weakness for good (maybe bad) TV shows; she’s up-to-date on over 25 current shows, and no, that wasn’t a joke.

And it goes without saying, she loves books—they’re like old and dear friends who have always been there to make her laugh and make her cry.

The one thing she wished she had more of is time.
