Thank you for taking the time to read Eva’s story. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Don’t worry; it doesn’t end there! I’m diligently working on the second book, Twisted Lies, which is Angelo’s story.

I was inspired by Heavenly Father to write this book. It’s probably one of the hardest stories I’ve ever written because of the abuse inflicted on Eva. But I felt I needed to let others know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Even after the most degrading, humiliating, tortuous acts one human being can inflict on another, joy and love can prevail.

To say I’ve experienced a lot during my life would be an understatement. However, through all the pain and tears I’ve endured, I’ve experienced many blessings. This combination has given me plenty of story ideas. The birth of this story began as a city of corruption. I got on a Gotham kick for a while and loved the idea of this dark city, which turned into Twisted City. Next, the characters. There’s a little bit of a story behind my characters and how they came to be.

First, let me begin by revealing a little something about myself. I lost my children through miscarriages and it’s safe to say I never recovered from that. In every book I’ve written, I’ve wanted to give them the lives they never had. So in this one, Eva is my daughter. Her looks and personality are how I imagine she’d be. I never intended to put her through the trials she faced through this book, but I also couldn’t give her a fairytale because life isn’t a fairytale. Life is full of pitfalls and heartache, some heartache that should never be experienced, but unfortunately, it’s the world we live in. But it is also filled with love and romance, and if we’re lucky enough, we can find that special someone who will make it all worth it. I could never bring myself to allow Eva to endure the whole act (she is my baby girl after all), but what she went through was just as humiliating and painful. What happened to Eva is horrific and happens to many others, in many different forms. Not just by strangers, but in marriages and families, by those who claim to love us. (Please know I have a very loving family.) Eva ran from abusive parents, while I ran from an abusive husband. The nightmares and fear she endured is very real.

This leads on to Angelo. *Deep breath* Angelo is a collection of people. Mostly, he’s my hero, or at least the hero I wish I had when I was going through the worst possible times in my life. Angelo is also my husband, and even though I met him much later in my life, he pulled me from the darkest places in my depression and vanquished the demons that haunted me.

The very graphic love scene she has with Angelo towards the end, if you knew me, you’d know I’m the biggest prude out there! That particular scene had me sweating bullets! I cried a lot, prayed a lot, spoke to a few church friends for advice, and finally had a blessing from my husband which very clearly stated, “You HAVE to write this because it’s the only way to get the message across.” So, with the help of my very talented friend, Carmen, we managed to write it and show that those scars are so deep and those memories, no matter how far you bury them, will resurface, but there is a way past it. Take it from someone who knows and did survive. Those scars and memories will remain always. But after finding your true love, though they can never erase your past, they can help you cope and have a beautiful future. I love you, Mike, and honestly couldn’t live without you.

Okay, enough of the sap. Here’s a quick overview of what’s coming next for Eva and Angelo. I’m working on two more books in their story. The second book, Twisted Lies, is Angelo’s version of the events in this book. And trust me, his tale is VERY different from Eva’s. The third book, Twisted Minds, is the conclusion of their journey and is told from both of their points of view.

If you liked this book, I’d love it if you would take a moment to leave a review on your favorite book review site. Thanks, and see you next book!

Rebekah Vasick originated from Essex, England and after a few years of traveling around England and spending five years in Holland, she eventually met her husband, Mike, and moved to New York to be with him. She used to work as a care giver to adults with autism, but due to an eye condition, she’s unable to work anymore. She’s always had a love for writing, but it wasn’t until she settled in America that she felt she could live her dream.

Along with her husband, she lives with her two dogs, Patrick (Jack Russell) and Jake (Weimaraner). Patrick also moved from England since she couldn’t live without her pup. When she’s not writing, Rebekah either has her face in a book or a PS4 controller in her hands. She also enjoys walking with her boys and husband or dreaming up her next novels. She enjoys watching movies, her favorite genre being horror. And she surprised herself when she found her love for writing romance. Though Twisted City isn’t her first novel, it is the first she’s ready to share with others and she is eager to finish the trilogy and work on the many other half finished works squirreled away in her laptop or the many she has developing in her mind.
