His Babygirl (Boston Doms Book 4)

“It had better just be idle curiosity, Elena,” Slay warned, his jaw locked as he glared at his sister.

“It’s none of your business if it’s idle curiosity or active curiosity, Alex!” Elena said hotly. “You’re my brother, not my keeper. I don’t ask you about your sex life, and you don’t get to ask about mine!”

“Guys,” Tony said, putting out a placating hand towards Slay. “Cool it.”

“Wh— But— That’s because you’re not supposed to have a sex life!” Slay sputtered.

“Slay, man, chill,” Matteo said, his voice deep and threaded with humor.

“Oh, for heaven’s sake,” Elena fumed. “That’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever said, and you’ve said some pretty stupid—”

“Stupid! It’s not stupid to want to protect your baby sister!”

“Slay,” Alice said, grabbing Slay around the waist. “Honey, calm…”

“But I don’t need protection, Alex! I’m not—”

  “I’M PREGNANT!”

Those words, screamed at the exact moment that the DJ turned the music down to announce that it was five minutes until midnight, did what no one else had been able to do. Slay and Elena both stopped yelling and swiveled their heads. In fact, everyone in the entire room turned to locate the source of this pronouncement.

Hillary, face flaming, gave a small wave, cleared her throat, and elaborated. “Elena said it sounds like I’m around ten weeks.”

Tess, Heidi, and Elena looked thrilled, and not at all surprised. Hillary herself seemed overjoyed. Tony, Dom, and Slay, on the other hand, looked stunned. And Matteo, the man who always had a plan and was never caught on the back foot? He was completely poleaxed.

Hillary peeped up at him and grinned. “I told you I might be.”

“Y-you said it was a slim possibility. You know I never spend time worrying about shit that might happen,” he croaked, pulling her closer. “But it… it’s definite?”

Hillary nodded. “Elena volunteers at the Women’s Health Clinic. She has all kinds of STD tests and condoms and stuff in her car, and some pregnancy tests, too. I told her all my symptoms and she had me take one in the bathroom just now.”

“It’s absolutely positive,” Elena confirmed, smiling. “I just told Hillie that she should follow up with her OB/GYN after the holiday, get an appointment for some routine tests, start taking a prenatal vitamin…”

“Fuck me,” Matteo said wonderingly. Then he pointed a finger and glared at Slay and Elena in turn. “You two, stop your shit. My girl is pregnant and she can’t be upset!” Then he frowned down at Hillary. “We need to get you home! We should never have come out. Christ, there are so many people,” he said, frowning around at the crowd of innocent revelers.

“Matt, I’m fine,” Hillie protested. “Just a little tired.”

Elena nodded. “That’s totally normal at this stage of the—”

“Tinker Bell, why the hell didn’t you say so?” Matteo demanded. He bent down and scooped Hillary up into his arms.

“Matteo Angelico, you put me down!” Hillary demanded, though her demands fell on deaf ears, of course.

“From what I’ve seen,” Elena told Hillie with a wink, “the alpha-caveman father-to-be is also a normal part of the process. Just enjoy it, sweetie.”

“Everyone, out of the way!” Matteo yelled to the crowd, carrying Hillary towards the back.

“Congratulations, Hillie!” Alice yelled. “Call me!”

Hillary rolled her eyes and smiled over Matt’s shoulder. “I will, I promise. Looks like I might be shackled to my bed until July, but he’ll probably let me use the phone,” she joked. She blew a kiss to her sister and waved goodbye to the others.

“Well, Hillary can’t drink, but I say we have a toast in her honor,” Blake said, stepping forward to lead everyone to the bar. “On the house!” Tess linked her arm through Elena’s, making sure that she was included in the group.

  Slay noticed and frowned.

“Slay,” Alice said, putting a hand on his hard chest to hold him back. “Let her have fun. No one’s going to steal Elena’s virtue in the middle of a crowded club. Though Blake might answer her shibari questions,” she teased.

Slay drew Alice more tightly into his arms. “I notice you’re getting pretty sassy with Daddy, Allie-girl,” he said, his voice deep and rough.

“Maybe a little?” she admitted, feeling the familiar tug in her belly that always came when he spoke in that voice.

He nodded slowly, his hot eyes roaming her face. “I could take you upstairs, find a free room, take care of that problem for you.”

“Your sister might wonder where we are,” Alice reminded him, her heart beating faster, half hoping he’d do it anyway.

Slay’s eyes came to rest on hers. “You think I’m being overprotective of her?”

Alice pursed her lips and pretended to think about it. “Hmmm… just this much?” she said, holding her thumb and forefinger up an inch apart.

Slay sighed. “She’s my little sister,” he said simply. “My responsibility.”

“I know,” Alice agreed. “But it’s okay for her to want something more, you know? Something for herself. Something like what we have?”

Slay threw another dark look at his sister, and then focused on Alice. His eyes softened. “Yeah,” he agreed. And then his eyes heated. “As soon as midnight comes, we’re leaving,” he pronounced. “We’re going back to our own home to ring in the new year my way.”

Alice felt a delicious chill slide up her spine and she pressed herself more firmly against his chest, knowing for certain that his arms would tighten around her, and loving when they did.

“You with me, baby?” Slay demanded.

  “Always, Daddy,” Alice whispered. “Always.”

  About the Author

  Jane Henry

Jane has been writing since her early teens, dabbling in short stories and poetry. When she married and began having children, her pen was laid to rest for several years, until the National Novel Writing Challenge (NaNoWriMo) in 2010 awakened in her the desire to write again. That year, she wrote her first novel, and has been writing ever since. In 2012, she became interested in the D/s lifestyle, and has discovered her love for writing romance with a D/s twist. With a houseful of children, she finds time to write in the early hours of the morning, squirreled away with a laptop, blanket, and cup of hot coffee. Years ago, she heard the wise advice, “Write the book you want to read,” and has taken it to heart. She sincerely hopes you also enjoy the books she likes to read.

Maisy is an unabashed book nerd who has been in love with romance since reading her first Julie Garwood novel at the tender age of 12. After a decade as a technical writer, she finally made the leap into writing fiction several years ago and has never looked back. arge social gatherings. She loves to hear from fellow romance lovers, and is always on the hunt for her next great read.
