Make Me Page 19

by Amanda Heath

He’s moved on though. Right into Gram’s arms. He wants her to move in, but she refuses until his divorce comes through. Turns out he never really wanted to be with my Grandma. Yes, he loves her, but he said his heart always wanted Gram. No one told me Grandma got knocked up with her first kid before they got married. That’s why he ended up with Grandma instead of Gram.

I would have never left Gram.

They tried to pretend they didn’t want us to live together so young, but I could tell Gram wasn’t serious. They know how much we love each other. Plus I would have put my foot down. No one is taking Channing from me. And no one is taking me away from Channing. Or that’s what he keeps saying. I have to remind him there’s nowhere I’d rather be.

In fact, we both are going to college in Boston. Channing wants to be a writer and I’m still undecided. I figure I could always become a mechanic, since I love working on cars so much. Or I could go into business and join Gram and Uncle Richard on the board with their oil company. Gram started explaining the way of it one night and I honestly got into it. It was nice to find something in common with both of them. At this point I have enough money to go for both.

Channing says I could open my own shop and work on cars on the weekends. During the week I could do all the CEO stuff for the oil company. Apparently part of my trust fund is stock in the company. Little did I know I owned fifty percent. They could have told me that sooner.

Channing finally got up the nerve to meet his sister. I think I was more nervous than he was, but then again, it’s hard to figure out his emotions. Ashley turns out to be a very beautiful woman. Long black hair, smoky blue eyes, and a tall figure. She looks more like Channing’s sister then she does Pierce’s.

Pierce is better. He still likes to glare at me in sixth period, but I think that has something to do with the disappearance of Annabella. I’m not as insightful as Royal, but I’m pretty sure something was going on with them. My biggest clue being that Pierce dumped his girlfriend a few days before Annabella left. And she dumped Donovan a few days before, also. I’m not even going to try to figure that out. I wasn’t that close to Annabella. I figure she’ll turn up again eventually. Her older brother, Viktor, and Ashley have a long-term relationship. Channing says they’ll be married in a few years.

Annabella’s got to come to the wedding.

Pierce and Channing are getting along better. They talk about their shared sister a lot and they found they a few things in common. Pierce and his buddies even started hanging out with our group. I wouldn’t say they are besties, but one day I think they might be brothers. Who knows with this crowd?

Today Channing is at a swim meet, but I’m not allowed to go to those. He says that I give him a hard on every time I walk into the room. He doesn’t want to walk around with that in a speedo, so I always make Lola film them, so I can watch later. She goes to cheer on Brody, but he doesn’t care about the hard on. I stay away simply for the fact I don’t want to see that.

I would tell you about Kellan and Royal, but I have a feeling they might come up at a later date. Hopefully you won’t have to wait for long.

“Paisley!” the girl in my bathroom yells.

I’ve been waiting on my bed for her to pee on the stick. I’ve been twisting my hands since she went in there. I’m hoping it comes out negative, but I have a feeling that won’t happen.

“What does it say?” I ask, hurrying into the bathroom. She points down to the stick. “I don’t know how to read those lines,” I tell her.

“I can’t believe this is happening. My mother is going to kill me!” she exclaims smacking her palms against her forehead.

“So I’m guessing it’s positive?” I break out into a cold shiver. Not something I wanted to hear. This is about to affect a lot of people.

“Yes.” She looks up at me with tears in her eyes. “What am I going to do?” she sobs out to me.

I bring her down on the floor with me and wrap my arms around her shoulders. “Whatever you want to do. This decision is yours and no one else’s.”

“Do you think he’ll be mad?” She peeks up at me and I try to smile.

“He won’t be mad at you. Well, he better not be mad at you. It takes two to get to this point.” I rock her back and forth for a little while until I hear my phone ring.

I jump up and race to answer it. “Hey, baby,” I say sadly.

“So what did it say?” he asks. She didn’t want me to tell Channing, but I refused to keep this a secret. Besides, if I ask him not to say anything then he won’t.

“It’s positive. She’s pregnant.” Before he can ask if I’m sure I throw in, “She took three of them. They all said positive.”

He gives out a deep sigh. “I guess I’ll tell-”

Break Me (Make or Break, #2)

“Wes, I don’t know what you want me to say here.” Royal’s voice is broken. Maybe he is broken. Maybe I broke him. Lord knows I’m broken myself.

“Don’t say anything.” I start off with. There are so many things I want to tell him. The one thing I want him to know, that I want him, I will never say aloud. “When push comes to shove, Royal, you’ll break me. I’d never be the same after you. I’d be a shell of this girl.”

His face pales but he doesn’t step away. Something I had planned on. His hands caress my face before he says, “You have that wrong, Wesley. You’ll be the one to break me.”

  Acknowledgements

The biggest thank you for this book goes to Miss Shanora Williams. I can’t tell you have giddy and excited it makes me when she asks to read my books. When I told her about Make Me, she told me to get that shit done so she could read it. Plus she thinks it’s funny when I refer to this story as my “Star Trek” book. Thank you girl for being the best author buddy ever!

Jessica Johnson will probably always get a huge THANK YOU in every single one of my books. This girl supports me, pimps me, and looks out for me all without asking. I can’t praise this lady enough! Bloggers are an authors biggest asset and this girl is one you need in your corner. Thank you Jessica for everything you do!

Dawn Martens of course gets thrown in here. I don’t know why she puts up with me! She has the dirtiest, funniest mouth ever and I know I can always go to her when I need a laugh. Thank you Dawn!

My husband of course gets thrown in here. I hate I make him clean and cook dinner when I’m writing but he never complains. He holds me when I get bad reviews and he cheers when I get good praise. He always wants to know whats going to happen next with my characters. And he always throws a pillow over his head when I’m writing in the middle of the night. I love you Cody. Forever and always.

I also want to thank my spawn even though she makes this career difficult. I’d never trade her for anything though. My mom also gets a huge thank you just because she let me find my own way in life and doesn’t put me down for being different. I love you both so much.

And last by certainly not least for all of my readers. I love how everyday I have something telling me how much they love my books. I wouldn’t be here without any of you. Thank you so much for all your support!

  About the Author

I live in southern Arkansas with my husband and young daughter. There is also an insane Boston Terrier running around. I've always been a lone wolf and find my friends in books. I started writing at a young age and I haven't stopped since. Most days you can find me either glued to my laptop or my kindle. My first novel, This Beautiful Thing was an Amazon best seller for 11 weeks and a year later I'm still tickled to see people enjoy it. I may not be a huge seller but I have the best fans ever and I thank God everyday for every single one of them.
