With that he walked out the door.
And within me, in the dark crevice of my brain, a voice said, “Sookie, wake up. Get up. Live again. If not for you, but for me.”
I looked at what Brent had left me and picked it up.
It was a VHS tape with the word, “The Summer Pact” Performance written on the spine.
I reached for my help button, and a nurse walked in. “Can I help you?” she asked.
I indicated the VHS tape and she said, “Sure. I’ll play it right away.”
She put the tape in, and immediately, there were footage of our band on stage at the XXXX Theater and Grill, singing our hearts out.
Meecham, Nadine, John, Dan, and I…
The Summer Pact.
And the music filled the room and got louder and louder as though it was live…as though everyone, including Dan was there.
