Sinclair got up and congratulated both couples.

“Maybe we can all get together with Sinclair in her new home once the babies are born,” Lesley said.

“Maybe,” Sinclair said. “If you all don’t mind being alone on most days. My work days are hectic. I’m rarely there myself.”

“When are the babies due?” her mom asked.

  “June,” Lesley said.

  “May,” Barbara added.

“Let me know when you all want to come and I’ll take a vacation week. I have to know in advance, though,” Sinclair added.

“It won’t be for a while yet. Maybe in the spring after the baby’s born,” Leslie said.

  “Same here,” Barbara chimed in.

Sinclair looked from one to the other. She loved her sisters-in-law, but she had nothing in common with either of them. Both were more than ten years her senior. They just didn’t share the same interests, despite being lovely women, and good for her brothers. The couples complemented one another nicely.

“So, sis, how do you feel about becoming an auntie?” Travis asked.

“Are you kidding? I love children. I can’t wait.” She grinned.

“Good. You can babysit,” Travis joked.

“Whatever, big head,” she kidded back.

Sinclair was saved from all of the baby talks with the ringing of her cell phone. Frowning, she removed it from her pocket, looked down at the caller ID, and smiled. Jonas. Excusing herself, she left the room to take her call.

  “Hello,” she called.

  “Hey, how’s it going?”

“Great! Everyone’s now in the middle of baby talks. Both my sisters-in-law are pregnant.”

  “Are we happy or not?”

  “We’re happy.” She smiled.

  “Overwhelming, huh?”

  “Sort of.”

  “When are you returning?”

“Saturday. I need time to unwind before work on Monday.”

“That’s two days away,” he said.

  “I know this,” she chuckled.

“My parents want me to bring you to their New Year’s Eve party. It’s not a big to-do kind of party. Only family.”

“That was sweet of them. We’ll see.”

“Well, drive safely. I’ll see you when you get back.”

  “See you Saturday,” she said.

  “Sinclair?”

  “Yes?”

“Miss you.” Sinclair didn’t get a chance to respond as her phone clicked off. He’d hung up.

  “Pumpkin, are you okay?”

Sinclair started at her father’s penetrating voice. She hadn’t heard him enter the room.

“Daddy, you scared me,” she smiled. “I’m okay. Why do you ask?”

“You’ve been silent throughout the night. Just wondering if something was on your mind. How’s the new house? Your mother and I will have to come down there for a spell this summer. You work so much, we want to be able to spend time with you,” he said, pulling her into the crook of his arm.

“I have to get furniture and stuff. By the time you and Mommy get there, everything should be in order,” Sinclair lied, smiling up into her father’s handsome face. The truth was, she hoped she had a house for them to visit whenever they decided to come down. Her and Jonas still hadn’t gotten the situation resolved. Cody said they were close, but nothing had ever been confirmed to her. If she had to move, she would need money. That was one of the reasons why she was working extra hours.

  “How are you on money?”

“I have money, Daddy. You’re on fixed incomes now, remember,” she scolded.

“We have plenty of savings, sweetheart.” Her father hugged her closer to him.

“I’m good, Daddy. Your savings are for you and Mommy to travel with. But, of course, Mommy’s not going anywhere with babies on the way. Come on, let’s go join the others before they send out a search party,” Sinclair said.

“Sweetheart, your mother’s talking about babies, she won’t send out anyone to look for us,” her father chuckled.

  Chapter Seven

Sinclair got off the plane and rushed through the train to baggage claims where she collected her luggage. She was dressed in her down jacket. It had been cold when she left New York, but the temperature in Georgia was warmer.

Sinclair unzipped her coat as she rolled her wheeled luggage behind her. She walked outside where Jonas was already there waiting for her. He’d dropped her off at the airport, and now he was here to pick her up. A broad smile graced his face as he rushed over to her.

“Hey,” he smiled and kissed her on the lips. “Welcome back.”

“Uh, Jonas, I was only gone for a few days,” she grinned. “A very lovely welcome, though.”

“Come on, these guys are getting impatient. Let’s get out of here before I get a ticket,” he said, taking her luggage in one hand and grasping her hand with his other hand.

He released her hand long enough for them to get in the car, buckle up, and drive away from the curb. It took them over an hour to get home.

“Go on in. I’ll get your luggage out of the car,” he said.

“Thanks, but I’ll wait for you. We can go in together,” she said, standing aside to follow him inside. “Is there a fire or something?”

“No, why?” he paused from opening the door and looked at her.

“You’re walking as if you were in a race,” she said.

“I am. A race to get you into bed just as soon as we get inside,” he mumbled, pushing the door open and walking inside.

  “Wow, someone’s horny,” she teased.

“Yep, both of us are. You want my body. Admit it. You think I’m sexy, don’t you?” He stopped, looked at her, and wiggled his brows up and down.

Sinclair laughed so hard she cried.

“Well, lover boy, I need a shower. I have been moving around all morning. My mother had me all over the place shopping before my flight. I had to rush to make it to the airport.”

“Come on, we’ll take a shower together,” he said, grasping her by the hand and rushing her into the bedroom.

They quickly stripped out of their clothes—Sinclair put a shower cap on her head to keep from her hair getting wet.

Jonas turned the spray on the rain shower, tested the temperature and then guided Sinclair inside the stall.

“I missed cuddling with you while you were gone,” Jonas whispered.

“Hm. Same here,” she murmured. “I couldn’t wait to get back home.”

“I couldn’t wait to have you here. Now let’s make up for lost time,” he muttered, taking her lips in a scorching kiss.

Sinclair returned his kiss with interest, wrapping her arms around his neck. Jonas cupped her ass in his hands, grinding her against his cock, which was steadily growing.

Jonas wrenched his mouth away from her while simultaneously removing his hands from her hips and turning her around, placing her back against his front. He then picked up the body wash and bath sponge and began to slowly lather her body.

He gently ran the sponge between her breasts up and across her puckered nipples—leisurely stroking one breast at a time.

Sinclair whimpered as he continued to caress her body—up and down—down and up. Over and over again. Her head fell back against his shoulder exposing her neck to him—her hand grasping his—following the direction in which he was moving.

“You’re very responsive,” he whispered in her ear.

“Um-hm,” she moaned, guiding his hand between her legs. He parted her folds and swiped her center. Sinclair cried out, slightly bending her legs allowing him better access.

The bath sponge hit the floor of the shower—his hand replacing it—his finger sliding inside of her wet center.

  “Oh, yes…” she moaned loudly.

  “You like that?”

“You know I do,” she breathed and continued to ride his finger. The spray from the shower continued to bath them, as Sinclair basked in the sensations that we
re permeating throughout her body. Jonas knew how to work his hands and lips—running his tongue across her neck, using his hand to pinch and pull her hardened nipple with his finger, and pushing in and out of her core with his middle finger. “Just like that,” she cried, thrusting down on his finger.

Jonas removed his finger from inside of her, released her nipple, and turned her to face him.

“It appears we’re going to have another quickie,” he breathed, taking hold of her head, and tilting it to the side, and slipping his tongue inside of her mouth. Sinclair latched onto it and kissed him with an unsuppressed passion.

Sinclair felt herself being lifted and pinned to the shower stall wall; her legs wrapped around his waist.

“No fair,” she murmured, wrenching her mouth away from his. “I never get the chance to feel you up.”

“You’ll have plenty of time for that later. We have all night; remember?” he said, taking her lips again.

Sinclair slipped her hand between their bodies, taking his member in her hand and aligning with her center.

  “Take me now!” she demanded.

Without fail, Jonas surged up and into her.

“Ahh!” she sighed breathlessly and held onto his hips as she rode wave after wave of pleasure to completion. Her legs trembled around him, as his hot seed filled her, his tight butt flexing in her hands.

“Fuck!” he cried, grasping her hips firmly and grinding against her pelvis. “I think it’s time we moved this to the bed before we drown.”

“At least we’d be satisfied,” she teased.

“I don’t think so. I’m not nearly finished with you. We have four days of makeup sex to go,” he said, stepping out of the shower with her in his arms, not bothering to turn the water off.

He walked, soaking wet, with her in his arms out of the bathroom and into the bedroom where he deposited her on the bedspread, and stood naked before her at the side of the bed.

Sinclair stared at all of his well-toned body and licked her lips. She wanted to taste him. Going up on her knees, she slowly moved to the side of the bed; her eyes honed in on his cock.

“My turn,” she said, taking his member in her hand and running her fingers over him, before closing her hand around him and gently squeezing him.

  “Ahh,” he moaned.

Without a second thought, she brought his manhood to her lips and licked him, before taking him fully into her mouth.

“Shit!” he cried, grasping her head, snatching the shower cap off, and tossing it across the room. He grabbed a handful of her hair and held her head to him—guiding her up and down his cock. She still held him at the base; each time he pulled her head up and down, she sucked his tip before fully taking as much of him as she could into her mouth.

“Ohh, shit!” he groaned, still holding her firmly by the hair. “Sinclair, if you don’t swallow, you’d better release me,” he said with a torturous moan. She continued sucking and licking. “Sinclair, I’m about to come. I can’t hold back.” Still she didn’t release him.

His seed hit the back of her throat as he surged up into her mouth, causing her to gag from his fullness.

“Whoo!” he roared, throwing his head back.

Sinclair released and licked her lips.

“Damn. That was beautiful,” he breathed.

“Glad you liked it.” She smiled up at his passion-filled eyes.

“Like is too tame a word. I loved it. Everything about you is beautiful, and before today is over, every inch of you will know who I am,” he said breathlessly.

  “Jonas,”

  “Yes.”

“I’m hungry,” she giggled, as her stomach growled in concert.

“I guess we better feed you before we finish our marathon sex.” He grinned, taking her by the hand and helping her off of the bed.

He slipped one of his shirts over her head, and he put on a pair of sweats, without his underwear and shirt.

Just as they were leaving the bedroom, Jonas’ cell went off. She watched as he rushed over to retrieve it from the pocket of the jeans he’d been wearing.

  ****

“Hello,” Jonas said into the phone.

“Jonas, Cody here. I think we may have the person who sold your house to Ms. James. Can she come in and identify him? I tried calling her cell and didn’t get an answer.

Shit, Jonas thought. He didn’t want anything to put a damper on their time together, and he knew that this would.

“I’d like to have a conversation with you first before we proceed with anything,” Jonas said.

  “For what?”

“I’ll let you know when I get there. Say tomorrow morning?”

“Jonas, what are you up to?”

“Nothing. Trust me on this,” Jonas said.

“Well, the GBI is on this. I can stall for a little while longer. They have some questions for her. We all want to nail these people before they strike again. Be here first thing in the morning, Jonas. If you don’t want Ms. James to know what’s going on yet, I suggest you keep her away from her cell until you tell her. I left a message on her cell.”

Jonas could hear the amusement in Cody’s voice. Sometimes it was a blessing to have family in law enforcement.

“Will do. No worries there.” Jonas smiled. “Thank you.”

“I don’t even want to know how you ended up sleeping with her. The last time I was there, she wanted to bash your head in.”

“I’m a lovable guy,” Jonas said, with a shrug, and then looked up to see Sinclair standing there with a frown on her face. “Listen, I have to go. I’ll see you tomorrow.

  “You’d better.”

Jonas smiled down at the phone and placed it on the nightstand.

“Let’s get you something to eat,” he said, walking over to Sinclair and taking her hand in his.

  “Is everything okay?”

“Yes. That was my pesky cousin wanting advice. Family. Can’t live with them and can’t live without them.

  “That’s very true.” She smiled.

Jonas let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding, as some of the tension left him. He still had to deal with the situation tomorrow. Tomorrow was another day to deal with new issues.

Tonight he was spending every moment with Sinclair. He’d just have to make sure she didn’t want to leave once this ordeal with the swindle was over.

  ****

Deliciously sore, Sinclair lay in Jonas’s bed. Opening her eyes to the bright new morning, she stretched and looked over at the bedside clock. It read eleven forty-five.

“Oh goodness, I’ve slept the day away,” she said, pushing the covers back and swinging her legs off the bed. Her stomach was making hungry noises. She’d wash her face, brush her teeth and then get herself something to eat before showering. She and Jonas had soaked in a Jacuzzi bath last night. The waterjets were divine for her aching muscles.

On her way to the en suite bathroom, she noticed a long-stemmed single red rose in a vase with a note attached to it. Walking slowly over to the bureau, she picked up the card and read it out loud.

  A rose for a rose. ~Jonas

Smiling she rushed into the bathroom, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and without bothering to cover her naked form; she rushed out of the room.

“Jonas!” she cried, and then stopped in her steps. In the living room with Jonas were Officer Cody and two other people she didn’t recognize.

Damn it, she thought. Not again.

Sinclair was too stunned to move. However, Jonas rushed over to her and escorted her out of the room.

“We have company, sweetheart,” he said as he ushered her towards the bedroom.

“You could have told me,” she argued.

“When? You were sleeping,” he said, walking her into the bedroom and closing the door. “I didn’t want to wake you yet. Besides, they just got here no more than five minutes ago.”

“What’s Cody doing here and who are the others?”

  “Get dress
ed and come on out. They’re here about the real estate scam. The other two guys are FBI or GBI, I forgot,” Jonas said.

  “Oh,” she said downheartedly.

  “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I’ll be out in a minute.”

“Why were you in such a rush to see me?”

“I saw the rose and the note and wanted to thank you.”

“You can thank me thoroughly later,” he smiled.

“You mean you’re not going to make me leave?” she asked.

“Le—leave, why would I ask you that? Get dressed. We’ll talk later,” he said kissing her on the forehead.

“Oh God! How am I supposed to have a conversation with people who have seen me naked!” she cried.

“You seem to like parading around in the buff,” he teased.

“This is not funny, Jonas,” she stormed.

“I know. Look, I’ll tell them we’ll meet them at the station later. How’s that?”

“Okay. I need time to recover from my mortification.” She nodded her agreement.

“I’ll be right back after I get rid of them. Besides, I can tell you most of what’s going on. They’ll just need you for identification purposes.”

“Okay. I’m going to take a quick shower and meet you out front in a few.”

“Sounds good,” he said, gave her a quick kiss and was gone.

After Jonas left the room. Sinclair sat down on the bed and covered her face with her hands.

“Only you, Sinclair. This could only happen to you—twice,” she murmured.

  Epilogue

Jonas watched Sinclair with a smile on his face as she debated with his brothers over the better basketball team. He had no idea why his brothers even bothered to argue with her. Sinclair didn’t know even a little bit about basketball—only some of the players from various teams.

They were much happier now that the business with the house was settled. As it turned out the person who stolen Sinclair’s money had been Paul Yates, the brother of Roger Yates, the man he’d hired to care for his property while he was away.

He’d told Sinclair that they’d recovered all of her money. Truthfully, the money was long gone. All parties involved in the scheme were indicted for various federal crimes. Jonas doubted they’d be seeing the light of day for a very long while.
