Mariah: The M Series: Book Two Page 15

by Ryanne Anthony

“Tall guy, very handsome. Most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen, shiny black hair and always smells so good! Sound familiar?”

“Mariah…” he murmured, smiling shyly. “What are you going to do with your time off?”

“I have some shopping to do, so I'll borrow a car from the folks for the week. I'm going to drag Nathan off my couch and make him go with me.”

  “Use mine.”

  I frowned at him. “What?”

“Use my car. It just sits in the lot all day and you need one, so...”

I saw my building come and go. “Marcus! You just drove past my building!”

“I know. You can drop me at the hospital and pick me up later at the clinic.”

“And how are you going to get from the hospital to the clinic?”

He shrugged. “I’ll bum a ride or call a cab.”

“Marcus, that's crazy! Nathan and I can take a cab to my folks and borrow a car.”

“No. My girlfriend is not going to ride in a cab when I have a perfectly good car just sitting there.”

I went beet red again. “Girlfriend,” I grinned.

“Girlfriend,” he confirmed, then kissed my hand.

  Marcus called us his girlfriend!

God, it felt good to hear that aloud. I glowed from the inside, out. Still, he needed his car and I had no problem getting a cab.

  “Marcus...” I started again.

“No, Mariah, that's it. Conversation over.”

We rode the rest of the way in silence, still holding hands, and I was mad and happy, all in one. I was still smiling when Marcus drove near the entrance of the hospital. He looked at it pensively.

“I've never gone through the front entrance before,” he murmured.

  I giggled. “You're kidding.”

Marcus smiled back as he opened the driver's door. “Nope. I always go in through the back entrance, since that’s where the lot is.”

He got out, walked to my door and opened it. I climbed out and walked to driver’s side, sliding in while he opened the hatch to get his briefcase and scrubs. As I adjusted the seat, he came back to the driver’s side and smiled at me.

“Meet me at the clinic, around 5:30? And have a bag, baby. I want you to stay with me again tonight, okay?”

  “Okay,” I agreed.

He smiled again and reached around to my nape and pulled me in for a lingering kiss, his thumb caressing my ear. He pulled back slowly and put his forehead on mine.

“Yummy,” Marcus whispered. I blushed and smiles. He pecked my lips, moved back and closed the door. He reached in through the window and traced my lower lip with his thumb.

“You better go, baby. I'm still tempted to call in sick,” he whispered.

  “Okay, boo,” I said, smiling.

  He grinned. “I like that.”

“Good morning, Marcus,” a male voice called behind the car.

Three doctors, two Caucasian and one African-American, walked up to Marcus. He shook their hands as they wished him a happy birthday.

The African-American guy whistled as he looked my way. “Wow. Where can I get one of those?”

“Cool it, Rob. Behave,” Marcus said, smiling as he looked at me, too.

Rob grinned. “I was talking about the car.”

Marcus smirked at him. “Bullshit! You've seen this car a million times!”

Another doctor smacked his arm. “And don’t you have the same car in white and took Marcus to where you got it?”

“Yeah, but now I want the black one, Greg!”

They all laughed. Marcus turned to me and smiled wide.

“Guys, this is my girlfriend, Mariah. Baby, this is Greg Cross, Ira Burns, and Rob the Jackass.”

  I giggled.

“Hey! That's Doctor Rob the Jackass. My parents paid a lot of money for that title.”

I giggled again as I accepted handshakes. “Pleased to meet all of you, gentlemen.”

Rob kissed my hand then held it in both of his. “I’m even more pleased to meet you, Mariah. Now dump Marcus and go out with me.”

Marcus smacked his arm that time and Rob released my hand.

“Get out of here, Rob. Pay no attention to him, baby.”

  I smiled at Marcus. “I wasn't, boo.”

“Oh, shit! She called you ‘boo!’ I'm sorry, Mariah, no offense, I just like to tease Frank Sinatra over here,” Rob apologized with a grin.

“Frank Sinatra?” I cocked my head to the side and frowned. Marcus isn't Italian.

Rob grinned again, raising a brow. “Ol' Blue Eyes?”

  Hmm… yeah, that's fitting.

It was. “Of course.” I laughed, looking at Marcus.

“All right, Sammy, leave her alone. Don't you have rounds?”

I laughed again and looked at the others. “And which of the Rat Pack are you guys?”

That got a laugh from all of them. Marcus leaned in and kissed me again.

  “Bye, Baby,” he whispered.

  “Bye, Frank,” I whispered back.

Grinning, he shook his head and joined the others.

I started the car, slid on my sunglasses on and put my phone in my purse. I felt someone looking at me so I scanned the area and stopped at Marcus and his friends. They were all staring at me. Marcus smiled and I smiled back. He said something to them and smiled at me again.

I shook my head and blushed as I waved and drove away, thinking he just may care as much for me as I did for him as I drove to my apartment.

  Chapter Twelve

What I do to you?! Triple it…

Nathan was sitting in front of the TV in my den, flipping the channels and looking beyond bored. He piped up when he saw me enter the room.

“Well, look who's doing their walk of shame!”

I blushed as I sat on the other end of the couch. “Shut up. You're just as guilty as I am. I’m pretty sure you guys weren't just holding hands while I was gone.”

He threw a pillow at me. I laughed as I caught it.

“Shut up,” he demanded, reddening. “Is it ridiculous that I miss her already?”

“About as ridiculous as me missing Marcus and I just left him seven minutes ago.”

Nathan shook his head. “Damn, we’ve got it bad, Bug.”

I nodded in agreement. “Want to go shopping with me,” I asked, hopefully.

  “Aren't you going to work?”

“Nope. I've been given a week off. I'm on hold.”

“Thank God! I'm so bored already, I will even go shopping. Are you getting something specific?”

“Today is Marcus' birthday and I don't know what to get him.”

Nathan smirked. “Talk about waiting until the last minute.”

  “I didn't know until yesterday!”

Now he grinned. “And you were too busy to go shopping. Does he need anything?”

I rolled my eyes at that first statement. “Not that I can tell. Go on, get dressed. We'll go to Mom's. She'll help me figure something out.”

  * * *

I circled into my parents’ driveway. Mom was standing outside waiting for us, looking radiant in an emerald green silk blouse and matching skirt. Her nude pumps were killer and I loved them. She's gained some weight and looked healthier and beyond gorgeous. I notice the frown that marred her brow.

“Mariah, did you buy a car?” Mom looked perplexed. “Thomas will be so upset you didn't take him with you.”

I smiled. “No, it's Marcus' car. He let me borrow it.”

Her eyebrows shot up. “Hello, Nathan dear.” She kissed his cheek, then faux whispered, “She must be better in the sack than I thought, due to all the ballroom training. I hear a good dancer makes a great bedmate. She gets that from her father, you know. Donnie was the best dancer and in bed, he was absolutely--”

“Mom,” I gasped. “Inappropriate! On so many levels!”

“Mrs. Harvey,” Nathan interceded. “You look beautiful. That color loves your eyes.”

  “Nathan, stop. You mak
e me feel like a school girl. No need to butter up because you're dating my daughter. And what's with the 'Mrs. Harvey'? I'm still Rachel, just better dressed now,” she laughed.

Nathan laughed with her. “Okay, Rachel, but you're still beautiful in that color.”

  She thumped his chest. “Flatterer!”

Mom turned to me, kissed my cheek and gave me a big hug. “Hello, honey,” she purred. “You're glowing. Had fun with Marcus yesterday?”

“Mom,” I sighed. “Please don't start.”

“What? I can't comment on my daughter's radiance?”

I tried a subject change. “You do look great, Mom. Are you going out?”

She took us each by an arm as we went into the house. “Yes, I have a physical this afternoon. And I'm already dreading it.”

Mom and I sat on a couch in the large living room and Nathan sat across from us.

I frowned. “Are you sick, Mom?”

She picked up my hand. “No, honey, just the normal menopausal symptoms. I tell you, I sweat in a fifty-degree room and in the oddest places!”

  Nathan reddened.

“Mom, there is a man in the room,” I murmured, my eyes pointing to Nathan.

“It's Nathan. And he's a doctor, for crying out loud.”

I had to get this visit over. Poor Nathan was going to turn into a tomato soon.

“Mom, I wondered if you can help me figure out what to get Marcus for his birthday.”

She brightened. “How much time do we have? When is it?”

  I wrinkled my nose. “Today.”

“Oh, Mariah! I can't think of anything on such short… does he need a watch? Since he's a pediatrician, so maybe a fun-faced one; like a cartoon character.”

“That's perfect, Mom! Thank you!” I kissed her cheek. “You think Pops would mind if I use the Amex?”

“You're welcome, honey. No, I'm sure he won't; that's why he gave it to you. Do you have anything planned for Marcus' birthday? Besides the watch?”

“No, I don't know what he wants to do, yet.”

“We can have a small party here. I can ask Harriet to whip something up. Call him and ask about his plans, honey.”

I glanced at my watch. “He might be with patients now. I'll send him a text, and let you know what he has planned after he calls me back.”

I pulled out my phone and typed:

Call me when you get a moment. :)

“Done. Mom, we're going to go to the mall now. Do you need anything? Can I pick up something for you?”

Before she could answer, my cell rang. I checked the caller ID and frowned as I answered.

  “Hi, Marcus.”

“Hi, baby. I got your text. Everything okay?”

“Yes, great. I didn't mean you had to call me right away.”

“I've been wanting to call you for an hour now. I miss you.”

  I blushed. “Marcus.”

“I'm sitting at my desk with an impressive erection thinking about you and yesterday. You're lucky you aren't anywhere near me.”

  “I could be.”

He groaned softly in my ear. “Baby... we really are gonna kill each other.”

I grinned and observed my surroundings. Mom and Nathan were smiling at me, making me blush scarlet. I cleared my throat and tried to gain some semblance.

“Yeah, so... Marcus, I'm at my mom's and she's offered to host a small party for you tonight.”

“The only party I want tonight is a private one with you.”

I flushed. “Oh, is that right?”

“Absolutely. I'd like to make love to you.”

I frowned. “You already did,” I said, softly.

His voice lowered, and he spoke in a slow, seductive tone. “No, baby, I haven't. What we've done... was exotic. Erotic even.”

My heart panged. “Was there something wrong with it?”

  I enjoyed it all!

“Nothing, baby but... I'd like to show you how much I love you. I'd like to climb on top of you, slowly kiss your mouth and lick your tongue, your lips... and then kiss you down your neck as slide into you, slowly stroke you, driving you crazy while I suck your sweet nipples and watch your beautiful face as I bring you to orgasm.”

My leg pumped. I should stop him...

  No, the fuck you shouldn’t!

“Then I want you on top of me, to slide your tight pussy slowly down my cock, and back up again and stroke my tip, just like you do with your beautiful mouth. Then as you slide down my cock again, you bring your beautiful mouth down to mine and tease me with your delicious tongue. Then I want to take my tongue and lick all over your nipples and suck them red.”

My clit was beating. I crossed my legs.

“After you come, I want to roll you on your back and slowly stroke you again, while your legs are wrapped around my waist, me sucking one nipple and then the other and back again. I need you to squirt all over me again, baby, because it just drives me so fucking nuts the way your hot cum slides down my cock. It makes me cum so hard that I get dizzy and I feel like I can't get deep enough inside you.”

  “Jesus, Marcus!”

“I've been thinking about you and that all morning.” He paused. “I should meet you at my place. I won't be able to keep my hands off you during the long ride home.”

“Marcus, don't you have to see your family? It is your birthday.”

“I've already spoken with them and they understand that I only want to be with you. Meet me at the apartment, baby. Naked and in my bed when I walk in the door.”

“But I have your keys –”

“Let me worry about that, baby. Please, do what I ask. Be naked in my bed at six. That’s what I want for my birthday. Tell your mother thanks, but no thanks; I'd rather eat her daughter for dinner.”

I shuddered. Damn... over the fucking phone!

  “Okay, boo,” I whispered.

“I'll be there at six, baby. I love you.”

“I love you, Marcus,” I breathed. I pressed end and stared at the phone.

“Do you need the bathroom, honey,” Mom’s murmured.

I smiled and blushed as I ignored her question. “No party tonight, Mom. Sorry,” I said, secretly thrilled. I couldn't wait for six o'clock to get here.

  * * *

After Mom assured me she didn't want anything, Nathan and I went to the mall and I found the perfect watch in the third store we checked. It had a big rectangle face and several of the cartoon characters at his clinic in the background. There were no numbers, but lines, and the hands were red, yellow and white. It's surrounded by a white gold rim and came with three different colored leather bands. Fun, but tasteful. I hoped he liked it.

As the clerk gift-wrapped the watch, I spot an anklet. It read “M&M” from end to end with little diamonds in the ampersand's lower body and between each second M. It was beyond beautiful.

“That's platinum, but we can do it in yellow gold as well. We do any letter combination on site, ma'am. It takes about an hour to do,” she says, I’m sure hoping for a bigger commission.

I was tempted and Nathan tried to encourage me to get it, but I didn't want to spook Marcus with any presumptions. I politely told the clerk I wouldn’t purchase the anklet.

The clerk asked if I wanted to take advantage of their delivery service and I decided to go for it when she promised she could get the watch to the recipient in an hour or less and email confirmation when it's signed for by the intended person. It was a watch for work and he should receive it there. I looped Nathan's arm and told her I'd be right back.

When we returned, I filled out the address form, kissed then signed the card.

  Happy birthday, Boo! Love, Baby.

I give it back to the clerk, who assured me the delivery man was going out now. I asked to see him. I gave him the Happy Birthday balloon bouquet and the three dozen cupcakes I bought from the bakery in the food court and tipped him a fifty to make Marcus his first delivery. I laughed when Nathan gave him another fifty to include a descripti
on of his reaction in the email.

His face lit up. “Yes, sir, ma'am… I'll go right now!”

I checked my watch. Almost one. Better grab some lunch. I may have a late dinner again and I needed to keep up my strength. Marcus was lethal in bed and I was determined to keep up with him every second.

Lisa called Nathan's cell and he let her know where we were. I suggested she meet us for lunch since I had time to kill. We agreed to the Chinese place a few blocks away and Nathan set off to find her a gift. He chose the letter anklet and they happened to have one with L&N in platinum. He paid and, smiling, he tucked the box in his pants pocket.

We arrived at the restaurant and Lisa was already there. She greeted us with a kiss then we browsed the menu. After we ordered, Nathan got a call on his cell and excused himself. Our food arrived as he returned.

Nathan and Lisa kept up lively conversation through lunch. My stomach was in knots, so I took small bites as I anticipated the delivery guy's email. Lisa noticed my picking and asked if something was wrong. Nathan told her of Marcus' birthday and my surprises for him. This started a non-stop teasing fest from the both of them and I blushed ferociously at every jab. I could usually keep up with teasing but I was too nervous to think straight.

About halfway through the meal, my email's notification finally chimed on my cell. I had an eight-minute video! I downloaded it and when it started, I saw the big desk from the Peds floor at the clinic and kids and parents in the waiting area; a big difference from when I was there. I turned my cell so Nathan and Lisa could see, too.

  “Guys... look,” I whispered.

Marcus emerged gracefully from the double doors, dressed in his scrubs. He looked so good on video.

He stopped at the desk and asked, 'someone paged me out here?’

A nurse pointed toward the camera and answered, 'This young man is asking for you.'

Marcus looked toward the camera, frowned then walked over confidently to him.

'How can I help you?' Marcus asked him, holding his waist.

The camera guy replied, 'Dr. Marcus Alexander?'

Marcus frowned again. 'I am. What can I do for you?'

'Sir, I have a delivery for you and I've been tipped very nicely by a beautiful young lady and her friend, who asked me to report your reaction, and I thought a video would be best. Do you mind?'
