“Jolie,” he muttered as the need tore through him.

She ran her fingers through his hair, across his chest, and lower to his boxers.

Yes, he was definitely thinking the same thing.

“Alone or with Jacques?” she offered when she could feel their other mate pulling away from the darkness.

“Together,” he murmured, as her chilly, death-kissed fingers stroked him. “Jesus, I can’t think,” he added.

Jacques took a deep breath and rolled to face them. “My timing is either impeccable or terrible. Which is it?”

Jolie mounted her human mate, perching across his hips. “It’s perfect. I was just about to feed Flynn. It seems that he’s…hungry.”

The vampyre glanced over at his mate. “May I join you?” he asked.

Flynn could barely think. There was a sexy naked woman over him, and he was focused on other things, like her long hair and full breasts.

“Yes,” he whispered. “Please, someone feed me,” he begged, his fangs descending into his mouth. “I can’t control it.”

Jolie rested her body over his. “Drink, Flynn,” she offered.

  He didn't hesitate.

There was a moan right before he sank his fangs into her pulse. Then there was Jolie’s reaction. Heat swamped them both. It threatened to pull them under.

Flynn tried to focus, but he was too worried about spontaneously combusting in his boxers. Jolie was dangerous when he was this hungry.

  He gulped.

  She stroked.

By the time he was finished, his body was so tight with need that he longed to take her like a wild animal.

‘Then do it,’ came the voice.

It was Jacques, and he looked serene on the outside, but Flynn knew better. The same lust, which was bombarding him, was affecting his mate too.

Flynn rolled, pinning Jolie between him and the mattress. “Hard and fast?” he asked, waiting for her permission.

She blinked, her eyes bleeding black. “Please.”

Flynn forced his way into her body, and even though she wasn’t ready for him, Flynn didn't care. When she moaned, the switch was flipped. There may not have been finesse, but there was love and lust.

“Can’t get enough of you,” he muttered, pounding himself into her body.

Jacques waited patiently by Jolie’s side. He was fascinated with watching the people he loved. Flynn reminded him of himself so many years ago.

“Oh, God!” she hissed as the first wave of orgasm pulled her under. Jolie tumbled into amazing pleasure.

Flynn pulled himself from her body. “Your turn.”

Jacques grabbed a handful of her hair as he pulled her mouth to his. He plundered and stole in an effort to give his mates what they wanted.

  Fucking.

Jolie went willingly, enjoying the way they were passing her back and forth between them. While both men were different, they were still lost in the heat of the moment.

It made her want to shout in joy.

Jacques knelt in the center of the bed as he made love to her mouth. The kiss could have melted metal. When he pulled away, he stared into her eyes. “I want to take you at the same time Flynn does.”

  She shook with need.

The intimacy made her heart race. Never before had either man asked for that. Jolie wanted to run around the room and do cartwheels.

“Yes,” she finally replied. In her mind, she shared the visual of what she wanted.

Flynn groaned, his body reacting to the visual. There was something so hot about the idea of them both burying themselves in her body at the same time.

“Where do you want me?” she asked, running her fingers up Jacques’s chest.

His eyes bled black as he stared over at their mate. “Top or bottom, Flynn?”

He laughed. “Does it matter? Yes to both.”

That was the only answer he needed. He’d wanted to take her like this for a while.

  It was taboo.

  It was dark.

  It was…them.

If they were going to share a woman, why not do it right?

Jolie felt herself falling. With one shove, Jacques had her tumbling onto Flynn. Then he was on top of her, trapping Jolie between them.

“Yes!” she moaned as hands wandered, grabbing, groping, and taking what they wanted.

When Jacques buried his fangs in her shoulder, Flynn did the same thing.

  Jolie screamed in pleasure.

Both men touched, stroked, and enjoyed her body. After feeding more, they both pulled their fangs free.

“Now let’s mate,” Jacques stated, bracing himself above her. “Beg me, Jolie.”

She whimpered at the feel of both men’s erections probing her. Never in her life had she wanted something so badly. “Please take me.”

  Flynn couldn’t wait.

He wanted to feel them both buried in her body at the same time. It called to the darkness in him. “Beg, Jolie, or we stop.”

“I want to feel you both take me hard,” she stated. “I want both of you in my body making me scream your names.”

Jacques glanced down at Flynn. “Then you’ll get your wish, Mistress.”

With that, they both pushed into her.

  Jolie did scream.

Not from the invasion, but the sheer pleasure of it all. There was pain, lust, and need all wrapped in one. “Hard,” she begged.

Flynn merely had to lay there and enjoy the ride. Jacques sliding in and out of her body caused Jolie to slide up and down his erection, since he was buried deep in her ass.

Sex with his mates was always hot, but this was scorching. Flynn was having a hard time focusing. His body was tightening, and he was pretty sure he was going to fall first.

Jolie moaned, begged, and writhed in pleasure between them. This was amazing.

“I need to feed more,” Jacques hissed between pummeling thrusts. He knew Jolie had already fed them both, and she shouldn’t donate more blood.

Flynn tipped his head and tried to stay in control. “Take what you need,” he offered.

That was something special, to be offered that precious gift, and Jacques knew it. Leaning further over Jolie’s body, he was able to reach his throat. He could smell the scent of mate, and it called to him. When Flynn’s hand went to the back of his neck, pulling his mouth toward his offering, Jacques knew he was close.

“I’m going to…” Jolie began, only to feel the exact second Jacques buried himself in Flynn’s flesh. She ruptured apart.

And she wasn’t the only one.

Flynn exploded. The feeling of Jolie sliding up and down his erection, plus Jacques buried in his neck was too much to handle. He poured hotly into his mate as the other drank him in.

  Energy mingled.

Jacques held on, and after he finished feeding, he pulled Jolie from Flynn. “Ride me.”

She didn't hesitate. Mounting him, she rode him hard.

Flynn watched, spent from their wild mating. Yet, he couldn’t help but wonder…

‘Go ahead,’ Jolie offered into his mind. She could see what Flynn craved. ‘He’ll welcome you.’

Brogan moved, pressing his torso to the side of Jacques’s frame. The man was lost in the throes of passion, so Flynn struck. His fangs found his mate’s throat, and he drank.

The one intimate action pushed Jolie and Jacques from the edge. Never before had Flynn opted to drink from him during sex.

Jolie exploded again in ecstasy, her body milking Jacques to release.

Auras crashed and pleasure erupted around them like never before. They’d now fully mated. Flynn had left one more little piece of humanity behind.

Jolie found herself cradled against Jacques’s chest. “Wow.”

Flynn laughed, cuddling closer. “In a word.”

Jacques was still a little surprised. “Why?” he asked, needing to know what changed to have Flynn cross that boundary.

  “Because I love you both.”

  Jolie smiled.

This healed all her hurt and always would.

It didn't take them long to get cleaned up and dressed. At the table in the breakfast nook of their room, they each took a seat.

They stared at Flynn’s coffee and uneaten breakfast.

“Food makes me want to be sick,” he replied, effortlessly reading their minds.

Jolie touched his cheek. “I know how much you’ll miss it.”

And he would, but there were other things to worry about--like what was coming.

“I was doing some research on the case files,” he began, signaling that it was time to discuss more important things. “Chloe was here before.”

Jolie glanced over in alarm. “Did she hurt you, Flynn? If she’s touched a single hair on you, I’ll personally send her back to hell.”

He grinned. “Thanks. She didn't, but we did have a visit from… you know who.”

“What happened?” asked Jolie, crossing her legs. Both mates watched intently. Jolie pointed to her face, getting them to look up.

  He told them everything.

  They listened without interrupting.

“I think that she gets angry if she believes that she’s going to be sent away.”

“How can we keep her with us? Once we kill Belladonna, she’ll end up in Death’s control. When Morden was killed, she became dangerous to us. What’ll happen when we cut the last part of the leash?”

Armageddon was on the horizon, and they all knew it.

“There seems to be a loophole, but I guarantee that you won’t be pleased with it,” said Flynn, almost afraid to go there with her. They didn't have kids, so if someone was being offered up, he knew she’d make the sacrifice personally.

  It made him sick.

  “Well?” asked Jolie.

“It seems the way that Belladonna earned Death’s gift was that she had to make the ultimate sacrifice as she did the spell.”

“And that was?” asked Jacques, who had been silent the entire time.

“It seems that she killed her own child.”

Jolie opened her mouth. “No one is being sacrificed in this family. I won’t even consider it.”

The men were grateful she wasn’t going to offer herself up. It would avoid one hell of a fight.

“Then I guess we will have to wait and cross this bridge when the time comes,” said Flynn.

  The atmosphere changed.

Jolie could feel his nervousness. “You feel scared. What are you thinking about?”

“Huh?” he stalled, trying to play dumb.

Jolie looked into his icy blue eyes, “What are you hiding from me? I can feel that you’re nervous about something, and you’re intentionally blocking me from your mind.”

“Jolie,” he said, squirming under her gaze. When she turned his face toward hers and held it there, he had no choice. “I have something to say, but I don’t know how you’ll take it, so I’m a little hesitant. This might be a bad time to bring this up.”

“Just say it, Flynn, and we’ll deal with the ramifications later.”

Flynn sighed. “I was sitting here, going through the files that Montclair dropped off, and I’ve come to three conclusions.”

  “Okay,” she said, bracing herself.

Jacques took her hand, offering Jolie some reassurance. Certainly, he wouldn’t want to leave them. Not after what they’d just shared.

“First, Montclair is definitely screwing with the crime scenes. He’s not just killing, but he’s altering them to cover his trail.”

  They waited.

“The second thing is--that makes me very wary.”

  “Why?” Jacques asked.

“I don’t think he’s the only one doing the killing. If he was, why hide his DNA or footprints? He could simply claim there was contamination while they investigated. It happens. That’s why our DNA is on record. We eliminate the team right off the top.”

“What do you mean?” asked Jacques, still not getting it.

“He’s protecting someone. I’d bet my badge on it. If he isn’t protecting someone, he’s teamed up with a vamp.”

  Jolie thought about it.

It made sense. It wouldn’t be the first time a vampyre used a human as a sword against their own people.

  “What else?”

  He hesitated.

“Flynn, just spill it.” Jolie braced for it.

“Sitting here, going over these files, it reminded me how much I miss being a cop. It’s what I am, and lately, I feel lost without it.”

  They stared at him.

“I need to be a detective, Jolie.” Deep down, he prayed they would understand. Their silence was unnerving. Flynn couldn’t even look up at them.

  Both vampyres were relieved.

  This was nothing.

“Oh, Flynn, if you need to be a cop, why would we want to stop you? I fell in love with while you were working, and I understand that it calls to you. It’s who you are, and I’m proud that my mate finds killers.”

  He could finally breathe.

“I feel lost. I know that sounds silly, but I miss my badge, gun, and even my vampyre coffee mugs.”

Jolie was touched that her trinkets meant that much to him. “Flynn, I love you, and you shouldn’t be afraid to come to us if you’re worried about something.”

Jacques agreed. “The centuries will be monotonous without an outlet. This is who you are. You’re scary good at being a cop, Flynn. I wouldn’t leave it either--not if I had your skill.”

He sighed, sitting back in his chair. “Thank you for understanding, I can’t change who I am.”

“I’ll be mad if you did change who you are!” Jolie went to him and sat in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Why do you think I have my own practice and career?” she asked, kissing him on the lips. “I was terrified you were going to leave us again,” she whispered against his mouth.

He pulled away in surprise. “No! I belong with you both, but I need to be who I am. I just want to find the balance. I can’t be a kept man, lying around bored. I need puzzles and mystery.”

She took his hand in hers, running her fingers over the callouses on his right palm. They were from holding a gun for all those years. “You’re not quitting. I won’t let you.”

He relaxed, thrilled that they had his back.

Jolie nuzzled his neck and held on to him. “We’ll support you. When we return home, can you get your job back?”

“Yeah. They think that I needed this leave because my partner went missing. I think they assume I’m trying to find her on my own.”

Jolie laughed. They’d never find the woman. She and her mate came into their home, and they killed her. Lily was now ash floating in the wind.

“Then when we return, you go back to being a cop, and I’ll open my new office.”

“Thank you,” he said, holding her to him.

Jacques chimed in, “And I’ll continue to make sure neither of you gets us into any more trouble.”

They both glanced over at him.

  And laughed.

  CHAPTER twenty-two

  Saturday Evening

Time seemed to move slowly as Jolie tried to organize the evening. Chloe didn’t care to venture from the home, so she agreed to allow Mina and Margharite to remain with her. That was all contingent on them promising to call if there was an emergency.

  Next, the younger vamps…

Clariel and Trina were easier to persuade. They led a sheltered life, and anytime there was an opportunity to leave the house, they were going to take it.

This was no exception. Jolie suspected that the women were secretly glad to be spending time with Flynn.

  It was cute.

Mathew was the hardest of the three. While he was more likely to follow her off a cliff, he was hesitant to be around the mates. She tried to tell him that they wouldn’t hurt him, but he wasn’t having it.

  At all.

When he said he wasn’t going, Jolie insisted he change his mind.
In all honestly, Jolie worried that he’d become a recluse instead of working through his fears. By the time she reached the family room with the three vampyres in tow, she looked harried.

Fortunately for her mates, neither mentioned how late she was, nor how long it took her to get dressed.

That may have saved their lives.

As they drove to the house, Flynn turned in his seat to ensure that the second Mercedes was following. “Why do you look like you need a drink?” he asked.

“Long evening,” she mumbled, closing her eyes.

“I see,” he said. “Is Mathew getting any better?”

Jolie laughed. “No, and I don’t know what else I can do.”

“Maybe he feels the tension in the house and is reacting to it?”

“Maybe, Flynn,” she said, knowing her mate was watching her in the rearview mirror.

He checked out her attire. Even though she was only wearing a simple black sweater and pants, she was stunning. “You look beautiful tonight.”

Jolie opened one eye to give him her best smile.

“Thank you, Flynn. It’ll be nice to socialize and not have to worry about Vanth-pocalypse. I’m seriously on the verge of shipping them all back home to New Orleans.”

“So do it,” said Jacques, watching the road, “The only one who needs to be here is Chloe.”

“Maybe I will. I thought a getaway would be nice, but I’m beginning to regret the entire thing.”

Flynn patted her knee. “I understand, baby.”

They drove on in silence, Flynn occasionally checking on the car behind them as he watched her too.

“We’re here,” said Jacques, sounding tense.

Facing his parents wasn’t exactly going to be fun, and he knew it. All he could hope was his father would be civil and not kill anyone in their family because of his temper.

Yeah, good luck with that one.

Jolie exited the car and waited for the others to move to her side. “Clariel, proper etiquette calls for lesser vampyres to remain in the background and be silent. I need the three of you to be inconspicuous and to behave, no matter what. After introductions, you’re free to move about and socialize.”
