When A Bad Boy Wants Your Heart 2

“The fuck!” I yelled and grabbed for him as he jumped out of the truck and tried to lunge at me. He barely caught me, but I clocked him hard in the back of the head with the butt of my gun. He fell like a rock out cold.
When the nigga in the driver seat saw what I did, he ran over to me even though City still had his gun pointed square at him.
“What the fuck did you do!” he yelled.
I pointed my gun up at him pissed and cocked it because at this point I wasn’t afraid to shoot nobody.
“Nobody was supposed to get hurt,” he said putting his hands up but looking at me with distress in his eyes.
“He should’ve fuckin listened!” I barked. “I told his ass to stay in the truck. Fuck!” I yelled. I hadn’t wanted this to happen, but I didn’t have a choice.
“Get the fuck back here and keep your mouth shut,” City said pushing the driver. He stumbled but walked to the back of the truck where the last of the cars were being driven out.
“How I explain this now?” the driver was mumbling under his breath looking over at his passenger who was still sprawled out on the dirt shoulder.
I shrugged. We had a drive ahead of us, and I wasn’t trying to be out here all night.
“Figure it the fuck out. We’ll be in touch with your cut,” I said walking back to my truck and getting in the driver's seat. We drove off leaving the driver standing on the side of the road over the passenger. It looked like he was trying to get him up. Them niggas would be okay.
“Fuck,” Lucas cursed under his breath.
“I know. That shit wasn’t supposed to happen, but it is what it is,” I said annoyed.
“Yeah,” was all Lucas said while looking out the window.
It made no sense to worry about that shit because there was nothing I could do about it. All I was gonna think about was the next step which was getting this shit to the warehouse 2 hours away and chopped up quick so we could move the parts out. I wanted this shit to be done so I could get back to my crib and move the fuck on. I didn’t need anything else to go left.

Two days later
Bo
Things were going good with City and me even after the shit that went down at the club the other night. That night when we got back to his place, he fucked me silly and almost made me forget the fact that he’d slept with my friend before me. Almost. I hadn’t seen Monica since and I’d blocked her on all my social media and my phone. She didn’t exist to me anymore. City had a job with Guwop a couple days ago that I didn’t know much about, but I wasn’t asking a bunch of questions either.
I’d stayed at his place the night he left just so I would be there when he eventually came home. He never made it back until late in the afternoon the next day. He looked exhausted, but when he saw me, I knew he was happy I was there just from the look on his face.
I was keeping myself busy, but the money was slow to come in. I definitely had more jobs since I did the tattoo convention a few weeks ago, but I still wasn’t making enough to be 100% self-sufficient. Which was annoying as fuck to me. I wasn’t the type to ask anyone for money. The fact that my parents gave me a credit card a few years back that I used for emergencies was enough. They had paid for my house, and I paid for everything else, but I still wanted to feel like I was stable on my own completely.
I was low on funds now though, and I needed some supplies for a shoot I had booked tomorrow. I had bought the supplies with the last of the money I had and was going to stop at Walmart to pick up some groceries with the emergency credit card my parents gave me.
My thoughts were far away as the cashier scanned my stuff. City had asked me to come over tonight, so we could chill and make dinner together. I knew he had a lot on his mind, his dad was still in a coma. But he mentioned his half brother had told him he would have some information about the incident tomorrow, so that was good news.
“$55.87,” the cashier said to me, and I looked up at her. She looked tired, and I gave her a small smile.
Taking my parents emergency credit card from my purse I swiped it not really paying attention. Five seconds later the machine beeped, and my stomach dipped when I saw “Declined” come up.
I frowned. That couldn’t be right. I knew for a fact that this card had a $10,000 limit, and I never used it. Matter of fact, last time I checked the balance about two weeks ago, there was only $200 charged on it. So there was plenty of credit. I tried again, but the same thing happened.
“What the fuck?” I said under my breath.
I looked in my purse to see if I happened to have any cash, but my wallet was dry. I knew it made no sense to try my debit card because I spent my last on the supplies for this shoot and a $35 overdraft charge on a $50 bill wasn’t something I was trying to deal with.
“I’m sorry, I don’t… I don’t know what’s going on,” I said embarrassed. “Let me try again.”
The cashier was looking at me annoyed, and I didn’t even know what to say. I tried again though, but sure enough, the same thing happened.
“I think your card isn’t working ma’am. Do you have another way to pay?” she asked me a little too loudly. I glared at her. I had never been this embarrassed in my life.
Shaking my head, I held my head up. “I’ll be back after I figure out what’s going on,” I said walking away from her and out the door. I was confused as all hell. There had to be a problem with the bank or the card or something. It didn’t make sense. As I walked to my car, I called Capital One to see what the fuck was going on.
“How may I assist you?” the cheery voice of the customer service rep said over the phone.
“Hi, my credit card kept getting declined and I’m trying to figure out why because I have a high limit that’s not even close to being maxed,” I said.
“Hmmm okay give me a second let me pull up your account from the number you called me from,” she said, and there was a brief pause. I sat in my car rubbing my temple. I didn’t have time to deal with this today.
“Hmmm,” she said, and I frowned. “Ms. Washington, it looks like you are an authorized user on this card but not the main account holder?”
“Yes, that’s right. My mother is the main account holder I think,” I said trying to figure out what she was getting at.
“Yes, um…I’m sorry it looks like this card was deactivated two days ago,” she said.
“What? Why?” I asked sitting up. That didn’t make sense.
“Mrs. Washington called in and asked that this card be deactivated,” she repeated.
“Okay well re-issue another one then,” I said angrily.
I’m sorry, we can’t do that. There’s a note saying no card should be re-issued without the account holders permission,” she said. “But if you would like to apply for your own card we can set that up. It only takes a few days to get a card out to you.”
“A few days? I need it now though,” I said frustrated. What was my mother on? “Let me call back and try to figure out what’s going on,” I said before hanging up.
This didn’t make any sense. I dialed my mother's number as soon as I hung up from Capital One.
“Bo,” I heard her voice say over the phone after the third ring.
“Hi, Mom. I was just at the grocery store getting groceries, and my emergency card isn’t working. What’s going on?” I asked.
“Nice to hear from you too Bo. How are you? I’m well, thanks for asking,” she said in a sarcastic voice.
I rolled my eyes and tried to exhale slowly.
“I’m sorry. How are you?” I said through gritted teeth.
“I’m well. My cards work,” she said smugly.
“What’s going on? Why did you cancel my credit card?” I asked
“Bianca told me she saw you with some thug the other day on the beach,” she said, and I closed my eyes. This could not be what this was about.
“He's not a thug,” I said.
“From what she described it sure sounded like he was,” she said.
“You called off your wedding to Dontrell without even trying to work it out. He told me he’s been trying to reach you for days now. Sent you flowers, voice mails. Bo that man is sorry, and you are ignoring him. But you’re out here galivanting with some hooligan.”
“That’s what this is about mom?” I asked
“Why should I fund you when you had a whole man ready and willing to take care of you the rest of your life?” she asked. “And then have the nerve to embarrass the Washington name fraternizing with some man who looks like he just got released from the penitentiary. No Bo. Do that on your own time and money. I’m not funding your life anymore. You’re lucky that house is in your name and your car is paid for. You won’t get another dime from me until you reconcile with Dontrell. Till then go ask your little jailbird friend for grocery money or figure it out yourself.”
Her words were like a slap in the face to me.
“Are you serious? You want me to swallow the disrespect Dontrell gave me just because he has deep pockets? My love and trust aren’t for sale. And for you to say you are cutting me off from the money you have, fuck that. I don’t need anything from you, that’s why I always made sure I had a job and a life outside of your bank accounts,” I said. I was angry.
“See there you go with that filthy mouth of yours. I don’t know who you are or who you have become. But you aren’t the daughter I raised. When you find the Bo I raised, she can call me, and we can discuss how we fix her life. Until then, I have nothing more to say,” she said then hung up in my face.
I sat in my car, stunned. I couldn’t believe my mother just said what she said to me. My relationship with her was never strong, but I never thought we would be in this place right now. I thought about calling my father, but the idea of begging anyone for money made me sick to my stomach.
Fuck that. I was going to be fine. I would figure it out on my own. Starting my car, I wiped the tears that had started falling out of my eyes. I refused to let this set me back. I was going to be okay.

City
I didn’t know what the fuck was going on and I was ten seconds away from blowing up. Yesterday that nigga Rigs told me that his boy was supposed to come through with some information about whoever it was that was driving the black truck when pops got run over. But today I was hitting him up, and he was radio silent. It was getting on my fucking nerves because I didn’t like being ignored or kept in the dark, especially when I knew shit was supposed to be discussed.
I called him again, but this time his phone just went to voicemail.
“What the fuck?” I said throwing my phone down on the passenger seat and heading over to his shop. I knew he had some information and I needed to know now. I’d been waiting for this shit for days cuz this nigga said he was gonna come through, but now that it was down to it he wanted to act aggy like he didn’t see me trying to call him.
I pulled up to his shop and jumped out of my car, leaving my car running in the middle of the street. Some nigga yelled at me as I walked into the shop and started blowing his horn, but I put him on ignore.
Walking into the shop, there was a chick and a light skin nigga in there chillin.
“Where Rigs at?” I asked.
“He’s not here,” the girl said standing up and crossing her arms in front of her.
“The fuck wrong with you?” I asked while mean mugging her
“Last time you were here, it was a whole situation. We don’t want no trouble,” she said. Her voice was shaking, and I couldn’t help the fact that I busted out laughing.
“Sit the fuck down and chill out,” I said as I walked past her and went to the back of the shop.
“You can’t go back there,” the guy said, standing up and watching me walk past him.
I sucked my teeth and kept walking. He wasn’t about to stop me, and I knew this weak ass nigga wasn’t about to try.
“Rigs where the fuck you at?” I yelled going through every room and opening the doors. But every room was empty.
“The fuck this nigga at?” I said to myself walking back to the front. “When he comin back?” I asked the girl when I walked back to the front.
She shook her head. “I don’t know. We haven’t seen him since two days ago.”
“If he comes back, tell him I been lookin’ for him,” I said walking back outside. I didn’t wait to hear their answer.
Walking back outside I got into my car and drove over to my shop. I didn’t know why he went MIA on me, but I felt like it was because of some bullshit. I planned to go back to my shop and check on my shit then go to the hospital.
Ten minutes later I was pulling up to my shop. It was busy as fuck in here when I walked in. Marcus was up front talking to Tati when I came in, and when he saw me, he nodded at me.
“What’s good?” I asked when I walked in.
“Aye where you been?” he asked turning to look at me.
“I been around,” I said and dapped up some of the guys sitting in the waiting room.
“This nigga came in to see you. He’s sitting in the back,” Marcus said.
I raised my eyebrow. “Who is he?”
“He said he had some news about your pops,” Marcus said. I felt my heart race. “Why you ain’t call me? Where he at?”
Marcus shrugged, and I wanted to smash him in the face. “My bad.”
I sucked my teeth and walked to the back where Marcus said this nigga was. I would deal with Marcus dumb ass later. Lately, he’d been on some shit, and I didn’t know what his issue was. I walked out to the back, and I saw this nigga sittin’ on the patio on his phone.
“You here for me?” I asked walking up to him. I had no idea who he was, I’d never seen him before.
“Hey,” he said standing up when he saw me. He extended his hand, and I shook it, but I wasn’t really with the pleasantries.
“You got something I need to know about my pops but who the fuck are you?” I asked.
“My bad man. My name is Darius. I’m cool with Rigs. He hit me up the other day asking me to look into a hit and run his pops was involved in. I think he’s your pops too?” he started.
I walked up to him now cuz he had all my attention.
“Yeah yeah, he told me you were gonna look into the shit. Where Rigs at? I been callin his ass and he ain’t answering. He told me he was gonna find out some new shit but he been moving funny,” I said.
Darius exhaled and rubbed his temple. “Yeah. I spoke to him yesterday morning. That’s why I’m here.”
“Explain this shit to me because I’m lost,” I said sitting down beside him. He sat and reached for his bag to pull out a laptop.
“I work for the city of Miami. You know there are cameras located sporadically all over the city streets. Rigs told me what happened and I told him that if he gave me some time, I should be able to run the cameras at different intersections back to see if I couple pull the license plate number or a face or something,” he explained.
“Yeah,” I said impatiently. I knew all this already.
“I found out some stuff and told him everything yesterday morning. I said we needed to go to the police with what I found and he shut that down. I can understand why but that doesn’t make it right. When he told me I needed to keep what I knew to myself I knew I had to find you to tell you because I had a feeling he probably wouldn’t tell you himself,” he said.
My nerves were on edge right now. What the fuck was he talking about?
“What you find out exactly?” I asked out loud. He looked over at me and turned his computer to the right so I could see.
“So I looked at all the cameras in the vicinity of your father's house around the time the incident happened,” he started. “At first I didn’t find shit. But then I lucked up and saw this,” he said and pointed to the screen.
On the screen was a screenshot of the back of a black Ford 250. And the license plate was visible. I nodded. This was good news.
“So I ran the plates cuz you can see them ri
ght here,” he pointed.
“And?” I prodded impatiently.
“And it came back that the car was registered to a woman named Sandra Bailey,” he said. I shook my head because there was no way I heard him correct the first time. “Come again?” I asked.
But he nodded his head. “Sandra Bailey. That’s the registered owner,” he said.
“That’s Rigs mama’s name,” I said trying to understand what the fuck I was hearing.
“Yup,” he said. “I figured maybe someone she knew had taken her car or something. So I went looking for more to explain the situation,” he said. “I found this footage from a gas station 2 miles from the house that night. The truck pulled up, you can see dents in the front from the impact. And this person got out. This was approximately twelve minutes after the incident, so I think it's safe to say this was the same person who was behind the wheel.”
I leaned forward to see the picture he got because this didn’t make sense.
“Here you go,” he said pushing the laptop toward me.
“The fuck!” I said staring at the screen. It was a screen grab of the person walking into the gas station. Her face was up and clear as day for the world to see. There was no question that it was Rigs mom Sandra.
“She tried to kill my pops?” I said incredulously standing up. No wonder that fuck nigga was avoiding my calls. He knew his mom was the one behind this shit and he was probably plotting to figure out how they were gonna get out this shit. That wasn’t gonna happen though. They were both gonna pay for this shit.
“I’m afraid that’s what it looks like,” Darius said. “I told Rigs, and he was obviously very upset about it. I think this is something the police need to know about that’s why I came to you. I couldn’t just be quiet about it.”
