  “Tugarin,” Alexis called.

He pushed up from the snow and shook his head as he stood. Plans could be made later.

Ladon woke up to Alexis’s face.

“I must have died because I see an angel.”

Alexis promptly punched him in the chest before kissing him senseless. “I almost lost you.” Ladon could feel tears dropping onto his face.

“Hey, we’re here and we’re okay.” Ladon reached up and cupped her face. He looked around. “Where’s your cloud?”

Alexis looked confused for a minute then she remembered. “Oh, the nanos? Tugarin helped me put them into stasis. I suggested disassembling them, but he seemed convinced that we would need them again sometime.”

Ladon struggled into a sitting position. Damn, he was weak. “He’s probably right. How long was I out?”

Alexis looked at the monitors, “A little over a day. Tugarin says you will need to take it easy since a huge amount of your body is freshly repaired and needs time to fully heal. He wants you to stay in bed for a while.”

“Well I know a few ways you could keep me in bed,” Ladon waggled his eyebrows at her and Alexis laughed.

“You and I both know that does not constitute rest.”

“I promise I will just lay here and let you do all of the work.”

Alexis leaned over and whispered something into Ladon’s ear. His eyes widened and his mouth hung open.

“…But you only get that if you rest and fully recover.”

Ladon snapped a salute, “Yes, ma’am.” He leaned back his strength suddenly sapped. “Did Ryuu make it?”

Alexis sighed, “It was touch and go for a little while. The nanos had gotten to his nervous system by the time I got to him. We repaired it, but his body had to retrain his new nerves. Tugarin set up a physical therapy area for him down the hall. Hopefully in a few weeks both of you will be as good as new.”

Cadmus entered with a tray of water and some snacks. Ladon realized just how hungry he was.

“Thanks, Cadmus,” Alexis said as the man nodded and left the room. She turned back to Ladon, “He still doesn’t talk much but he has been a tremendous help.”

Ladon looked at the door thoughtfully, “There are going to be a lot more like him.” Ladon heaved a big sigh. “If this was the past I would say that Earth would be an excellent asylum; but humanity doesn’t know about dragons and you have developed to a point that the sudden discovery that you are not alone in the world could have devastating consequences for the planet. Humans have grown into a rather reactionary species.”

Alexis handed Ladon a small sandwich which he promptly swallowed.

“Woman, you realize as a dragon I need more food than this,” Ladon said right before his sandwich tried to make a second appearance.

  “You were saying?”

Ladon chose to ignore her smug look. “We need a solid plan, which includes not only places to put the Drakonians we will end up collect but also an offensive and defensive strategy.”

Alexis raised an imperious brow at Ladon.

“You and Tugarin have already started coming up with plans, haven’t you? What are you going to need from me?”

“Your money mostly. Unfortunately, we are probably going to need a bit more than you currently have.”

Ladon laughed, “And here I thought you loved me for my looks.”

Alexis leaned over and kissed Ladon deeply. She laid her forehead against his, a gesture that had come to mean love and comfort to both of them, and sighed. “I love you for a lot of reasons, Ladon Drake. You and me to the ends of time.”

Ladon wrapped his arms around his mate, “Until the ends of time.”

  Epilogue

Ryuu pounded on the condo door.

  “Damn it, Ladon. We’re late!”

“Just go on without us,” came the muffled reply followed by a feminine giggle.

“You’re the fucking bride and groom. I can’t go on without you.”

“We’ll be out shortly,” Alexis called as Ryuu left the door in a huff.

Ladon rolled over and pinned Alexis to the bed as she tried to get up. “You would think this was his wedding the way he is acting.”

Alexis laughed and kissed Ladon’s nose. “Well he did do most of the planning, so it kind of is his wedding.”

Ladon captured her lips and nipped and suckled. His kisses moved down her neck and across her chest.

“Ladon, we are going to be late.”

“So?” His tongue circled her nipple. “It’s not like they can start without us.”

“But it’s rude to keep our guests waiting,” Alexis gasped as he sucked her nipple into his mouth.

His hands moved lower until his fingers buried into her dampening entrance.

Alexis wrapped her legs around Ladon and rolled until he was pinned beneath her. It was at this moment that a grinning Ladon decided to try and get out of bed.

“We can’t keep our guests waiting, love.”

Alexis narrowed her eyes at him and grabbed his hips as he playfully tried to dodge her. She kissed him across his stomach as he continued to stammer that they needed to get going. When she slipped his hardened manhood into her mouth he hissed.

  “Fuck it! They can wait.”

Ladon threw Alexis back on the bed as she giggled.

By Gaia, he loved this woman.
