“I already do. I loved her like that when I left for college, and I love her like that now. Please, say you’ll give us your blessing.”

Bob seemed to think for a moment before he held out his hand and shook Ciran’s. “Welcome to the family, son.”

Ciran smiled, getting to his feet. “You won’t regret this, sir. I think the women are in the kitchen already talking about wedding plans.”

“When is this wedding going to take place?” Bob asked, a frown between his eyes.

“We were thinking the last Sunday in September. Good day for a wedding, don’t you think?”

Bob sighed. “I’m sure it will be.”

Ciran walked back into the kitchen and smiled, nodding his head at Roxane. “How are the wedding plans coming?”

Roxane ran into his arms and hugged him tightly. “I guess Dad approved. I knew he would.”

“I wish I’d had your confidence.”

Roxane spun around to her mother. “We have three weeks to put a wedding together. How energetic are you feeling?”

April Lynn stared at her with a look of shock for a moment before making a shooing motion with her hand. “Go, Ciran. Watch football with Bob. We women have work to do.”

Roxane grinned as Ciran walked away, looking a bit confused. “The dress is what scares me. . . . I happen to know the ballroom is open that day.”

“Good. Now to gather all the Quinns . . .”

  Epilogue

On the morning of her wedding, Roxane woke up with a smile. She picked up her phone from the pillow beside her, knowing that there would be a sweet message from Ciran. As always, he’d texted her some sweet emojis. “I’ll see you in a few hours. I can’t wait until you’re my wife.”

She smiled, her thumbs tapping out a reply. “I’ll be the one in white at the front of the room.”

Then she checked her private email. She rarely had anything, but it was always one of the first things she did when she woke up. She let out a squeal when she saw she had a message from Bobling. She wasn’t sure anyone had been able to get in touch with him to let him know about the wedding.

  Dearest Roxane,

I know you will be the most beautiful bride Quinn Valley has ever seen. I just got the message you were marrying this morning, so I’m quite certain I will not be able to be there for the big event.

I have to say, I’m pleased that you’re marrying Ciran. He was so much in love with you in school, and you two just seem to belong together. Be happy, little sis. I’m hoping to see you all soon!

  Bobling

Roxane read the message once more. She would have loved for her big brother to make it to her wedding, but she really hadn’t expected it. The surprise email had been as good as a gift of the finest china.

It was her wedding day, and all of the Quinns would celebrate it with her.
