Beauty in the Eyes of His Beast (A Beauty to His Beast): The Pack

“We are always welcome on Earth,” Jalesa said.

“Well, let’s give out passes to the immortals on Earth to go to Anubi. Have you seen the wolves from here? They are vicious and they care for no one. The packs they travel in are just packs without meaning behind them. The packs here don’t have tradition or the same beliefs as you all. But you all come from Anubi and flaunt your royalty into the poor immortals’ faces. I never knew how bad the wolves were, until one came into the bank I work at for a loan. Sosa is one of those many wolves,” Ula said.

“Sosa has an evil heart,” Naobi said.

“That may be true, but he has the heart of a wolf who would do anything to survive. His pack was poor and could barely eat. I know this doesn’t concern you, but you all need to learn what it is like to not have the finer things in life. You can’t come to Earth and call someone evil because their struggle was different than the struggles in Anubi. I bet the youngest pup in Anubi has gems around his or her neck,” Ula said.

“She speaks like a demon,” Jalesa said.

“No, she speaks of an immortal who cares about other immortals. You have so much hate for Anubi but this wolf that you are in love with was born there,” Naobi said.

“He was born there but his heart is on Earth. Saka wasn’t always heartless. Ask Ammon what he did to him before his heart filled with hate. Ammon had Musaf turn Saka that way because Saka refused a favor for him. Musaf poisoned Saka with demon snake blood for Ammon. You think Saka took the innocent souls from Egypt just to do it? He took pure souls so that his heart could become pure again, but that demon he was possessed with was too big to fight. Musaf gave Ammon what he wanted in return for a life in Anubi. How do you think an old witch who does evil voodoo got into Anubi?” Ula asked.

“She isn’t speaking the truth,” Jalesa said.

“What reason do I have to lie? I already got what I wanted,” Ula said then grabbed my hand.

“My father took me from my mother,” Naobi said.

“Your father knew that your human mother’s village would’ve burned you. You think people don’t get scared when they hear the name, witch?” Ula asked.

“I didn’t see those visions,” Naobi said.

“Even the strongest witch can be brainwashed. My father always told me that. I never knew who he was talking about until now,” Ula said.

“My father never told me what Ammon did. He had a chance to tell me when I begged him to give me strength to give birth to Akua,” Naobi said.

“Saka tried to tell you but because he was evil, you did not listen,” Ula replied.

“Musaf got rid of Saka’s soul,” Naobi said sadly.

“To cover up Ammon’s filthy trash! Are you sure you want me to give him his beast back? Hell, Anubi needs to thank me for doing them a favor,” Ula said then chuckled. A bolt of lightning struck Ula from Jalesa.

“Don’t speak of my world with so much filth,” Jalesa said. Ula got up.

“The world that you were a peasant in? Which one were you? The bitch that served grapes or do you fan the king and queen’s faces when they got hot? I bet you did all of that,” Ula said. A big wave of red electricity slammed into Jalesa, sending her into the wall.

“What on Earth is this shit?” a deep voice roared. When I turned around Kumba stood in the middle of his living room with green eyes.

“Take me to Ammon’s body,” Ula said then Naobi put her head down. I remembered that Naobi didn’t want Kumba to know about Ammon being locked away inside his house.

“Who is she and what about Ammon’s body?” Kumba asked as he undid his tie.

“I’m Ula, Naobi’s sister,” Ula answered.

“Where is Ammon’s body, Naobi?” Kumba asked.

  “In the basement,” Naobi answered.

“Your old mate is in my basement?” Kumba yelled at Naobi.

“We are here to pick him up, bro,” I said to Kumba.

“Why is that muthafucka in my basement is all I want to know,” Kumba seethed.

“Do I have to spill the tea all over again?” Ula asked. I pulled her back.

“Not now, Ula!” I warned her.

“Is he going to attack her?” she asked me.

“No, he is just angry. I think he will attack Ammon instead,” I answered her.

“His body was found in the woods. I brought him here to figure out a way to wake him. Ula took his beast from him and now she is returning it,” Naobi answered calmly.

“What the fuck is going on in Anubi now?” Kumba asked.

“Stop yelling, Kumba,” Naobi said to him.

“Stop yelling? You have a mess in my living room like a storm has been through it and you have your old mate inside my house. Yet, you want me to stop yelling?” Kumba asked. Kumba walked out of the living room toward the basement. He snatched the door off but there was a metal wall blocking the doorway.

“I hope like hell you didn’t touch him. Remove this wall, Naobi,” Kumba said but Ula moved it out of the way.

“Sorry, but Amadi and I have plans. I’m kind of in a rush, so we need to hurry up,” Ula said then headed down the stairs. The basement looked like it belonged in Anubi. The walls were like red clay with hieroglyphics sketched on them. Naobi had candles lit everywhere. In the corner of the basement, Ammon lay asleep on a bed.

“Hurry up and wake him up so I can mess him up. I would be less of a man if I attacked my prey while it slept,” Kumba said.

“That will not fix anything! No matter what you do to Ammon, it won’t fix anything. All I want is for him to return to Anubi, so that Akua doesn’t have to. I want peace, Kumba. That’s all I want. Is that so hard to ask for?” Naobi said then Kumba calmed down.

“The only thing that is keeping me away from that jackass is the love I have for you. But once he wakes his ass up, he is out of here. I don’t even want him to take a breath inside my house,” Kumba fussed.

“What made you put Ammon’s beast inside that charm? It would’ve made you more powerful if you had used it,” Naobi said.

“When I took his beast, I saw a lot of his demons. I saw things that I shouldn’t have seen. Saka told me a lot but Ammon’s beast showed me even more. I could no longer tolerate him,” Ula said.

“I don’t believe her,” Jalesa said.

“I believe her and I have no idea who she is,” Kumba spat. Ula put the charm to her lips then inhaled the black cloud in. She put her lips to Ammon’s lips then blew his beast back inside him. A growl slipped from my lips as I watched her kiss Ammon. Moments later, Ammon’s eyes fluttered then he coughed. When he sat up he charged into Ula with his hand around her throat.

“You evil witch! I shall seek that you will never breathe again,” he shouted. I charged into Ammon then slammed him against the wall.

“You don’t put your hands on a female,” I said to him then his eyes turned. He pushed me off him then fixed his shirt.

“What is all of this chaos?” he asked as he looked around. Kumba roared but Naobi put her hand on his chest; he calmed down.

“Get this sucka’ out of my house, now!” Kumba shouted. Ammon growled at Kumba.

“You want to challenge me? No immortal will live after challenging the king of Anubi,” Ammon spat.

“Can I take his beast back? I know an antique shop that I can sell the necklace to right around the corner,” Ula said then Kumba chuckled.

“Hush up, jezebel,” Ammon said to Ula.

“Bro, watch your mouth,” I warned Ammon then he laughed,

“You let these immortals brainwash you? You have Anubi roots! You watch your tongue or I will punish you,” Ammon said to me then looked at Naobi.

“You will leave now! Enough of this and that feline. You belong in Anubi with me. This is not your world and you will not live here,” Ammon said. Kumba charged into Ammon but a force pulled him back then held him down. A lot of nasty words spewed from Kumba’s mouth as Naobi held him down with her magic.

  “I need answers, Kumb
a,” Naobi pleaded with him. Ammon smiled at Kumba.

“My beautiful queen, come back where you belong. I care nothing about your sins. I just need you back next to me,” Ammon pleaded then Kumba roared. Ula and Jalesa covered their ears.

“What did you do to my father?” Naobi asked Ammon.

“I will not answer anyone who isn’t my ruler. I’m my own ruler and I will not answer to you,” Ammon replied.

  “Wow,” Ula mumbled.

“Let’s go to Anubi, my king,” Naobi said.

“Are you going to leave with him?” Kumba asked hurt.

“Yes,” Naobi said. She grabbed Ammon then disappeared into a gold bright light.

“The portal isn’t open. She must have used a spell,” Jalesa said. Kumba was free to stand up, his eyes glowed then he punched a hole in the cement wall.

  “What just happened?” Kumba asked.

“Naobi went back to Anubi,” Jalesa said. Naobi’s arm reached out of gold light. She pulled Jalesa inside the light then it disappeared.

“Anubi is so rich that even their portal shines gold,” Ula said.

“I don’t think Naobi left to go home,” I said to Kumba.

“She is alone with that punk,” Kumba seethed.

“She left Anubi with unfinished business. I think she is going to fix what she can. I know that she will be back,” I assured Kumba.

“I hope like hell she does because I will find a way to get her back! I don’t know how but I will find a way there,” Kumba said.

“I don’t think Ammon is really the problem other than the fact that he wants power and can’t seem to keep his dick inside his pants. The real problem is Musaf, the voodoo cat warlock,” Ula said.

“How do you know of Ammon’s affairs?” I asked Ula.

“You will see. Let’s just say that if Ammon dies, Goon will not be the one to rule Anubi. The oldest son has to be the ruler,” Ula said then she checked her nails. The broken nail grew out long and pointy. The color turned from black to red on all of her pointy, witch nails.

“How do you think this color looks on me?” she asked then held her hand out.

“Not now, Ula. Who is Ammon’s oldest son?” I asked then she smiled.

“If I tell you now then the bomb won’t explode when it drops,” Ula said.

“I need a drink,” Kumba said.

“Great, dinner is on me,” Ula said to him.

“Where is Keora?” I asked as I looked around.

“I can longer keep up with these witches,” Kumba said as he noticed she was missing too.

Ula picked up a spell book. Her hand swiped over it then it opened. The pages flipped by itself then stopped. “It is telling what was last read. It looks like someone did a reincarnation,” she said.

  “It’s always something,” Kumba said.

“I’m hungry so can we go now? Then tonight I can rub my beast down with some oil and listen to him growl. I’m in a rush, so let’s go,” Ula said then hurried up the stairs.

“You must’ve really bit the hell out of her. She is very smitten by your beast,” Kumba said.

“You don’t want to know the whole story,” I said to him then we followed Ula.

  Elle

“I often wondered what animal is really a shifter,” Fabia said as we stood in front of a lion’s cage at the zoo. Fabia was a breath of fresh air. She was beautiful inside and out, and had a smile that could brighten up the whole room.

“My plane leaves in a few days. I will be heading back to Africa. I only came for Camille. I hate this city. It is filled with so much pain,” Fabia said. I didn’t want her to go but with a past like the one she had, I couldn’t stop her.

“I will miss you,” I admitted then she grabbed my hand.

“Come with me for a month. My village is filled with a lot of spiritual beliefs,” she said.

“I know, I’ve been there plenty of times,” I said to her.

“I want you to come to the village I am from. It is sacred and I’m sure you haven’t been there. They will welcome you with open arms. A nice, tall, toned wolf like yourself would draw all of the attention,” she said. I wrapped my arm around her shoulder then whispered into her ear.

“What if I just wanted attention from a beauty like yourself?” I asked her then she blushed.

“Are you flirting with me, Elle?” she asked me.

  “Don’t I always?” I replied.

“Are you always arrogant?” Fabia asked me.

“Yes, my beast can be,” I said then stared at her. “What were Camille’s intentions? She told me to call you before she died. Do you think about that?” I asked Fabia.

“Camille had different beliefs. She believed that if two beasts came into her life then it was a sign. I told her it wasn’t a sign because she was in love with you, and you belonged to her,” Fabia said.

“My tribe believes in fate. We believe that every purpose has a cause. Sometimes we might fall in love so that it can lead us to our soulmate. I think Camille coming into our lives meant something. It’s not every day a beast falls for a human, a human that will eventually die. Beast soulmates mate for life. We all are destined to be with someone who will live for eternity,” I replied.

“Are you telling me that our lives are already mapped out?” she asked me.

“In our tradition that’s what we believe in. Our ancestors have visions of us and they drew it on the walls inside their temples,” I answered.

“That is a beautiful belief,” she said then looked at the lion.

“The belief isn’t as beautiful as you. Now, let’s go see the monkeys because they amaze me. They are between being human and animal at the same time, unlike our beasts. When we shift we become something else. They are just stuck,” I said then she laughed.

“I never looked at it that way,” she said. I looked down at her lips that had something over them to make them shine. I traced the outline of her full, plump lips with my finger.

“Can I kiss you?” I asked her. Fabia and I went on several dates but we’d never touched each other. I couldn’t help the way I was feeling and I knew how she felt about males. As bad as I wanted to kiss her I waited because I knew it would’ve made her uncomfortable.

“Yes,” she answered. I leaned down then captured her bottom lip into my mouth. I gently sucked on it then she moaned. The scent of her arousal filled my nostrils, my growl unable to be heard by the humans because of the roar coming from the lion. I pulled away from her then she wiped off my lips. “You had lip gloss all over your face,” she said. She grabbed my hand. “Let’s go see the monkeys,” she said.

  *******

We walked up to the hotel where she stayed.

“I had fun with you today,” she said to me.

“I will see you tomorrow,” I said then she stared at me. “What’s the matter with you?” I asked her.

“I was wondering if you wanted to come up and have a glass of wine with me. I don’t sleep good at night because I have the urge to hunt. I would rather eat store meat then hunt in this city alone at night,” she said.

“You want to go hunting?” I asked her.

  “Not really,” she said.

“A beast always needs fresh meat, Fabia. Let’s go hunting. I know a spot where there is a lot of deer meat,” I said to her.

  *******

I watched as Fabia’s beast snuck up on a large buck.

“Be very quiet. If you make a noise it will run, and then you will have to fight with it,” I said to her.

“I have not hunted in a long time. The wolves in the village go and seek food for the females,” she replied.

“Leap on it,” I shouted inside her head. Fabia’s beast leaped onto the buck’s back.

“Avoid his antlers, they can be very sharp.” Her beast dodged the buck’s head as it almost slammed into her side. She rolled the beast over then clamped down on its neck.

“He is too strong!” she panicked.

I ran into the buck t
hen sank my teeth into its throat. I jerked his neck inside my mouth, snapping it instantly.

“Show off! That’s only because your beast is twice the size of mine,” she said. She tore into the buck’s stomach hungrily, chewing through it’s flesh. Fabia growled as she ate and I watched. She lifted her head with blood dripping from her snout.

  “Are you hungry?” she asked.

“No, that meal is all yours. I went hunting with my pack this morning,” I replied. After she was done, I licked her face then she nuzzled against me.

“Let’s run wild. I hear a water running somewhere close,” she said then took off through the woods. I ran after her but her beast was fast. When I caught up to her, I playfully bit her bushy tale.

“Cheater!” she yelled then ran faster until she came to a lake that was deep in the woods. The half-moon and stars brightened up the dark night.
