“This is so beautiful, Elle. Nature is amazing and we get to explore the beauty of it. We can run wild inside the woods and let our beasts take us over.
“We have the best of both worlds,” I replied.
Fabia slowly shifted back then stood in front of me naked.
“I want to sleep here tonight and watch the sun rise,” she said then sat down, snuggled beneath my beast. Fabia looked like a little girl compared to my wolf. Her small hands grabbed my face. “Your beast has eyes like a human. Camille was right,” she said. My beast laid out for Fabia so that she wouldn’t sleep on the ground. She climbed on my back then got lost inside my fur.
“This is even more comfortable than the bed inside my hotel room,” she said.
“Get some rest, Fabia. Once the sun rises my beast will awake to hunt.” Moments later, light snores echoed through my ears. I didn’t sleep because lone wolves always moved around in the deep, dark woods at night.

Fabia climbed down off my back then stretched out. My eyes roamed her naked body and the mound between her legs. Her sweet scent filled my nostrils. My beast wanted to take her but I had to resist. I slowly shifted back to human form then she eyed me. Her eyes roamed over my body then stared at what hung between my legs.
“Is everything okay?” I asked her.
“Ummm. Yeah. Uh-uhmm,” she stuttered then cleared her throat. “I’m sorry, what did you ask me?” she asked.
“Our eyes never deceive us. It’s all there if you want it,” I flirted then she blushed.
“What makes you think I’m interested in that part of you?” she asked with her hands on her hips. I sniffed the air then growled.
“Your morning arousal is driving me crazy,” I said to her.
“That is just rude how you male wolves can invade our privacy,” she said then laughed.
“Scent is a part of animal instincts. I’m a man, beautiful, but I’m still all animal and your scent is driving it crazy,” I said to her.
“You make everything sound so perfect even telling me that the scent from my pussy is driving you crazy. Very classic, Elle, but I have to take a rain check,” she said then walked past me. Her round bottom jiggled and her nipples poked out far enough for me to capture between my lips.
“Down, boy,” she said then I grabbed her hand. I pulled her to me then kissed her. She didn’t fight it, she kissed me back with the same amount of passion I had for her. My hand slid between her legs and she was dripping. The scent became even stronger, which caused blood to travel down to the tip of my dick.
“Your body is ready to go into heat,” I said then pulled away.
“That’s why I need to hurry back home before I get into something that will force me to stay here,” she said.
“Are you running from Sosa? If so, I promise you that his time is limited,” I said to Fabia.
“It’s not Sosa I’m running from, it’s you,” she said then walked away from me. “Let’s find our clothes so we can leave,” she said. I wanted to ask her what she meant by running from me but I decided not to. Falling for Camille had taught me not to force something that should come naturally.

“What’s the matter, bro? You’ve been quiet,” Dayo said to me as we worked out inside the gym room.
“I’m almost afraid to tell you. Talking to you is like getting a tooth pulled,” I said to him then he growled at me.
“Very funny, Elle. You’ve been really acting all thug on us since you stepped foot inside pair of Timbs for the first time,” Dayo said to me.
“This nigga is always talking shit. Beat him up, Elle. I will help you out,” Izra said when he came into the room.
“Now I’m stuck with you two,” I said then shook my head.
“What does that mean?” Izra asked.
“Nothing,” I said then continued to bench-press the six-hundred pounds of weights.
“It’s that Fabia wolf, isn’t it?” Dayo asked.
“Naw,” I said then Izra laughed.
“We already know it’s her, bro. What are you lying for?” Izra asked then I sat up.
“Okay, damn. She is going back to Africa in a few days and I’m going to miss her. A part of me feels bad because, since I’ve been kicking it with her, I haven’t thought about Camille. It’s like Camille is this distant memory,” I replied. Dayo and Izra looked at each other then fell out laughing.
“Bro, seriously? Camille’s old ass didn’t want you to think about her. Hell, why would you want to? She was all old skin and bones, bro. Like, I bet our mummified ancestors look younger than Camille. I mean, bro, she looked like a distant memory. I don’t know, Elle. I think you might need to get checked out. I thought you was going to tell us that Fabia was going into heat and you couldn’t resist her. You know, something of that nature,” Izra said then Dayo popped him on the back of his head.
“Nigga, you didn’t even let him finish!” Dayo said to Izra.
“Finish for what? As soon as he said Camille, I stopped listening. I see if she was old and sexy but, bro, she looked like she got ahold of some black magic,” Izra said then Dayo burst into laughter. Dayo laughed until he howled because he couldn’t catch his breath.
“Stupid muthafuckas,” I mumbled.
“Chill out, Izra,” Dayo finally said.
“I’m trying to school our older brother,” Izra answered.
“Bro, don’t listen to this fool. His woman had a spell on him and he didn’t even know it. Then he got caught red-handed eating another wolf’s hot box,” Dayo said.
“I bet you didn’t tell Elle about the human diapers and baby food you bought for Camille. The only reason you didn’t give it to Elle is because she died. If you go into the hall closet you will see all of that shit is still in there, Elle,” Izra said then Dayo pushed him.
“I was helping him out. I didn’t want her crapping all over the place. Old humans are not potty-trained. They go everywhere like animals,” Dayo said.
“Have some respect for human life,” Kofi said when he walked into the room.
“I’ll get up with y’all later. I have to make a run to drop something off at Kanya’s store,” Izra said then walked out of the room.
“My youngest pup doesn’t want anything to do with me,” Kofi said.
“Izra doesn’t know how to apologize when he is wrong. I can see that he is no longer mad. I think he is avoiding the issue because he knows he reacted in a way that he shouldn’t have. He will come around,” I said to Kofi.
“I hope he does before I go back home. Izra is very stubborn when he doesn’t have to be,” Kofi said.
“Why don’t you and your mate come here?” Dayo asked Kofi.
“I’m an old believer. I think we need to be separate from others. Our beliefs and the way of life isn’t the same as the immortals and humans on Earth. I’m stuck in my tradition and I want to live it freely,” Kofi said.
“Anubi isn’t living,” Dayo said.
“It isn’t the place I’m interested in. It’s the meaning behind it that keeps me going back. Anubi was created for the greatest immortals to live. It is a beautiful place that anyone would want to live in. You know the book Wonderland that Arya reads? Anubi is like that. The river sparkles because of the diamonds that flow through it. Everything you will ever need is in Anubi. It’s like my Wonderland,” he said.
“Ammon shouldn’t be king,” I said then Kofi chuckled.
“Ammon was a great warrior who served his people. But he became obsessed with having more than he needed. He is king and he still needs more power. Ammon was never that way until he became the ruler of Anubi. He loved Naobi so much. You could see it in his eyes when he looked at her, but Naobi became stronger as the years passed and Ammon became power-hungry. Greed is a disease of all species. Greed for women and power. It can get the best of us, even after many years of tradition, it can still get us. It takes a strong warrior to not give into the greed and lust. A wolf in heat can walk
past Goon and he wouldn’t even smell her. Dayo loved many women but when he met his soulmate, he hasn’t looked at another female. Izra refused to mate with another female even though Adika wanted him to. She had to curse him for him to even smell another female. You loved a woman for years and watched her fall in love with another man. You stayed with her in her final moments. What you all experienced is what Anubi stood for. Don’t let one power-greedy wolf stop you from believing because the tradition flows through our veins,” Kofi said.
“Damn, that was deep,” Dayo said then patted his chest.
“Are you about to cry, bro?” I asked him.
“I was ready to catch an Anubi holy ghost,” Dayo said.
“Holy ghost?” I asked him.
“I went to church with a human woman before. I just wanted some of her goodies. But you got to go one Sunday. The preacher talks then some old woman will stand up. She starts moving like she is trying to dodge a bolt of lightning. She screams, ‘hallelujah’ then she dances harder. When her hat falls off she has caught the holy spirit,” Dayo said then Kofi chuckled.
The door opened then closed. The sounds of heels clicking echoed throughout the hall. Amadi came into the gym room with a beautiful young woman.
“I need to tell y’all something and it’s a lot,” he said.
Dayo and Kofi looked at the woman. “Bro, I don’t think Jalesa is going to like this,” Dayo said.
“She and I agreed to part ways because we believed in different traditions. This is Ula,” Amadi said. Then Dayo choked on his water.
“That’s the evil witch?” Dayo asked.
“Can you people come up with another name besides evil witch? It’s so old-fashioned, so fairytale-like,” Ula said.
“Where is Goon and Izra? I want everyone to hear this,” Amadi said.
“I don’t know where they are at but we are listening,” Dayo said.
Amadi told us everything about Ula haunting him and her being Naobi’s sister. He also told us about Naobi going back to Anubi and taking Ammon and Jalesa with her. I couldn’t believe it when Amadi told us that Ammon was the reason for Saka being wicked.
“So, Dayo and Anik knew but didn’t tell anybody?” I asked.
“I didn’t say anything because I trusted Amadi. He told us he was going to fix it before it blew over. I wasn’t worried about anything, but I would like to know where Sosa lays his head. I have a right to know where he kept my mate. He needs to suffer more for what he did to her and Arya. That fight at his club wasn’t good enough. I want to see him take his last breath,” Dayo spat angrily.
“If I show you where he lives, what do I get in return? Favor for a favor,” Ula said.
“Ula, tell Dayo where Sosa lives so that he can make sure Anik, his pups and Arya will remain safe. The games are over, Ula. You got a chance to talk to Naobi and now you have a chance to make all of this nonsense right,” Amadi said to her.
“Okay, I will show you,” Ula said.
“I think this witch is dick-whipped, bro. You saw how easy that was? This nigga has her in order,” Dayo said inside my head.
“She loves him, bro, that’s all it is. I don’t think she is the push-over type. I think she will do anything to make him happy,” I replied to Dayo.
“My wolf brother is too gone. I have known Ammon for years, but in reality, I didn’t know Ammon at all. I don’t know this beast he has become. I think he died a long time ago,” Ammon said then left the room.
“How can you trust her, Amadi?” Dayo asked.
“I will take full responsibility for anything that happens from here on out,” he said then I smiled.
“So, you been in love all this time with another woman?” Dayo asked then shook his head.
“Kofi said that once you fall in love nobody else can replace them. That’s the true meaning of our tradition, bro. Wolves love their soulmates forever,” I said then Dayo stood up.
“I will take care of Sosa myself. That nigga had no business taking my mate while carrying my pups. I won’t be happy until he is dead,” Dayo said then walked out of the room.
“And you all call me evil. Everyone wants to kill someone from Anubi. You think Naobi can bring me back a necklace from there? Is there a way someone can call her? She owes me for giving her Ammon’s beast back,” Ula said.
“Bro, how did you end up with a female version of Izra?” I asked Amadi then he shrugged his shoulders.
“Good luck, bro!”
Naobi
I sat at the festival table as I watched Ammon laugh and smile. Jalesa served the wine and grapes. I wasn’t happy about what she did but I didn’t fault her. Ammon made those rules and everyone had to follow them. A female couldn’t carry a child inside her womb if the man wasn’t rightfully hers. I wanted Jalesa to be happy and I knew it was going to come for her. I realized why Ammon made those rules; he wanted to sleep with females freely and not have them carry his pup. I could’ve easily known but like Ula stated, “Even the strongest witch can be brainwashed.”
“I want to thank Baki for taking my place while I went to Earth for my mate. He is a great warrior and this feast is for him,” Ammon said then held his gold cup that was filled with wine up in the air. Everyone cheered and patted Ammon’s back to welcome him home.
“Where is my son?” Kaira asked.
“He is on Earth where he will remain. He betrayed his world and he isn’t welcomed back,” Ammon said.
“His pups are here!” Kaira yelled.
“Send them back to Earth. I don’t want anything to do with them! They cannot live here and you know that!” Ammon roared.
“You animal!” Kaira yelled then growled.
“Throw her in the dungeon until she gives birth. Once she has that pup, send it to Earth so that a human can find it,” Ammon said.
“Are you going to let him do this to me?” Kaira asked me with tears in her eyes.
“He is your king and you should obey his rules,” I said to her.
“When I get my day, this world will be shamed! Every one of you will turn to dust!” Kaira spat as Ammon’s warriors took her away.
“Let’s welcome King Ammon back! Where is the music?” I asked as I held up my cup of wine. Ammon looked at me with admiration. My eyes turned black then the smile on his face disappeared.
“Where is Kofi?” Opal asked me.
“He will come back once everything is settled. Kofi is safer with my son’s pack until I finish what I came to do,” I said to her.
“What are you going to do?” Opal asked then I smiled.
“I’m going to show that son-of-a-bitch how to rule Anubi. By the time I’m done, this will be a new world. Have some wine and enjoy this feast, my sister. Tomorrow the sun will shine over the crystal lake and give this temple the light it has never seen,” I said then got up from the table. The Egyptians danced and feasted as I watched. Baki walked over to Jalesa then whispered something in her ear. I watched Baki and the way he walked. I watched his smile and the way he laughed.
“Have fun, my queen,” Ammon said then wrapped his arm around me.
“Tell me something, my king. Why does your head warrior remind me so much of yourself in your younger days? He even throws his arrow the same way you do. Musaf must have really outdone himself with that spell to disguise Baki as your son. He is quite stunning but he doesn’t look anything like you. Never trust a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” I said to Ammon.
“What are you speaking of? Baki isn’t a pup of mine!” Ammon shouted.
“Who is Baki’s mother?” I asked Ammon.
“You trust an evil witch over your mate?” Ammon asked me.
“Tell me the truth, Ammon, for once in your demonic life. Who is his mother, and what did you and Musaf do to her?” I asked him.
“His mother was poisoned,” he said.
“Are you his father?” I asked him.
“What does it matter?” he asked me.
“Your life,” I said to him then he chuck
led. His traced his finger down my cheek.
“Everything I did, it was for you. Your father wanted me to lose you,” Ammon said.
“My father knew what you did and tried to warn me, but Musaf got to him before he could tell me. How did my father know about you and Baki’s mother?” I asked him. What Ula had said started to play in my head, the pieces coming together.
“He wouldn’t get rid of her even after I told him it would hurt you. He kept telling me that I didn’t deserve you,” Ammon said then his eyes turned blue.
“You hurt me so much,” I said to him.
“Your father told me about your true mate. He told me that you were going to leave me. I knew about Kumba for centuries. Why do you think I bedded other females? I needed your power but I didn’t need you,” he spat.
